The USC Dental clinic is literally amazing! They do a fantastic job and they have the most positive uplifting attitudes! They treat you like a important person no matter what situation your in! I would recommend this dental clinic forever especially for people trying to get their life on the right track! Thank you so much for fixing my teeth and help heal my pain through my pregnancy. We need more people like this clinic in Los Angeles!

I’ve volunteered here and the staff is quite nice. I cannot speak on long term experiences, or experiences as a person in the program, but from what I’ve seen it is a pretty pleasant environment and it feels like the overall goal is to help the community. I have noticed that the facility seems to be Christian centric(which is fine) and the website description as to who it helps is pretty gendered. With that said, I have some questions for the president/admin that is replying to these reviews. Would you accept a person into the program who is in need, but also openly non-religious, and accept them even if they made it clear there was no changing their mind? If it was mealtime, and that person didn’t feel comfortable praying, would you still serve them food? If a person was non-binary, would you still allow them into your program and consider their identity valid? Since volunteering, I’ve been curious as to the team’s response to these hypothetical scenarios, and would love to hear how y’all would handle them. Thank you.

This place does so much for the community and skid row area. Feeding homeless on daily basis. If you are drug free you can participate in their gateway program $210 a month to live there not a private room just bunk beds in big room. Requirement you must have a job and pass drug test. The cons no privacy. Not many outlets to charge your phone restrooms and showers are like county jail.

It was messy and the Beverly Hills Doctor had a good off day following the community of soul searching dreamers, got to love it! Good food and togetherness before the haters stole my hair spray and I fought the ring leader of organization of my companys money and actions on my health. You couldnt get me to go stay at this shelter if you paid me a trillion dollars. Air mattresses on the floor social distancing not there. What makes matters worse is the Reverend Andy preaches about helping the homeless out what about where hes located(down by skid row.) He preaches about how the lord say to help those in need. Well what about the homeless people who have severe social anxiety disorders and/or physical disabilities. Doesnt have on site mental health personal nor 24 hr drs. Looks like if someone is a symptomatic or early stage of the virus everyone would get it. A man of the lord preaching as the wolf in sheep skin. Lead the blind with a blind preacher. Maybe yo shouldnt judge people. Maybe you should give the help when your team learns to have training, and compassion towards those struggling. To the reverend Andy maybe you should come spend a few days with me to see the other side of the fence. You get to go home and not stress about whats going to happen to you, food nothing. Ive been on both sides of the fence. I spent years helping the homeless and taught my kids to do the same and not to judge others

This place is a scam. They charge desperate people $210 a month rent to be in their housing program. There are programs that make ppl put up a percentage of their income but then they give it back when the person moves out. Thats not whats happening here. Theyre robbing money people of the entirety of the only income. People cannot progress under that kind of stress. The mission receives donated funding and government funding. This demand is greedy and disgusting. Homeless people deserve better.

My experience staying here the first day I came in I got checked in they ask you all sort of personal question they drug test you and you have to talk to a guy they claim is a doctor over a computer screen that is being recorded asking all sort of mental health questions also you have to get a Tb test which they provide. You are going to need your id they are going to take your picture and give you an Identification card with your picture and name which is your pass to check in and out the shelter. U first get a cot and have to sleep in an enormous room downstairs until they check you into a program which you get assigned a bunk bed upstairs. I got my bed after the 3rd day because the lady at the window forgot to give me one. It is best to stay to yourself because a lot of people have serious mental health issues. I brought a backpack and a duffle bag because you dont want to have to much because people steal and they are not responsible for your things. I carried my valuables with me everywhere even when I charged my phone I stayed close to keep an eye on it. You are allowed to stay 30days free after they charge $320 monthly which is pretty steep for being homeless. The food is disgusting I wouldnt give it to my dog i tried to eat the packed sandwiches, salads, fruits etc they had I mostly ate at the womens center because they give an option of vegetarian plates. The security plays favoritism and trys to intimidate and even lies on the homeless I seen it happen. I was minding my business watching a movie on my phone which is a samsung 8plus and a security said they he was gonna take my phone from me then when you say something back they try to gang up on you. You might want to stay gone an occupied all day until curfew to skip all the drama. The staff talk to the homeless very belittling and rude like they arent even human its very sad to watch. I didnt even get a chance to stay the full 30 days because staff lied on me and said I was absent for a night when I turned in my badge to be scanned and was there the whole night the black lady who was in charge did it on purpose because she did not like me. I wanted to talk to her supervisor to prove it but she just laughed and cussed at me in front of everyone. As I was gathering my things she called security guards to escort me out I think one of the officer felt sorry for me because people were laughing and he stuck up for me and helped carry my heavy bags. I dont look like the typical homeless Im young, educated and beautiful but Ive fallen on hard times and needed temporary help. This was the worst experience ever I will certainly not reccomend this place for anyone Id rather sleep in my car

Im not going to lie to you this place is in a very bad part of Skid Row it is unsanitary outside....there is tents outside the front outside the back surrounding the whole building pretty much but I will say that if it was not for this place I would starve to death some days. The volunteers that work there and feed people are amazing the food is delicious Starbucks donates salad sandwiches and sometimes drinks. Also a bakery down the street donates croissants and desserts every day of the week. And Im happy to report that they have upped their security and have gotten metal detectors so I feel a lot better going to eat here now on days when I have no money and no food. Thanks for feeding the women of Skid Row that are HOMELESS and non homeless women....like me! Much love!

The cross-eyed guy who runs the restroom says he saw them but didnt pick them up because he didnt know who they belonged to. He told me he discards everything when the bathroom closes. Really? So I guess theyll discard wallets or valuables too. He could have easily placed them in the lost and found storage room. This shows how much disregard they have for residents here.

Stayed here for a good 3-4 months. Its a place where you can lay your head and get your situation situated. You get fed 3 meals a day. Nothing great but nothing bad. Showers are available. I would recommend the Refreash Center on the next street over on Crocker. Its a really bad area so keep that in mind. If you have substance abuse issues and not part of the Rehab program. You will find anything there. Literally a whole block on Crack, sherm, and meth. So you are going to have temptations. Follow there rules and you will be good. They offer a lot in the area. Food, clothing, housing programs, medical resources, ect. Became my home for a bit. Just very very very very dirty regardless on how much they clean up the bathrooms. Get you TB shot/test so you can get a bed and a create to lock SOME of your stuff. Take advantage of the resources. The last thing people tend to be on all sorts of crazy in there. But i dont like how they wake you up at 5 a.m in the morning so people can sit in a chair to watch t.v. But if you are going to wake people up at 5am have the t.v turned off at lights out by 8:30 pm at the latest. The t.v goes off at 10pm and lights out like midnight. It is hard to get more then 6 or 7 hours asleep. It can get frustrating sometimes. The volunteers seem to speak too aggressively to the residents. Ive been here since October 2018 and Im in the gateway program for those who have a job and is trying to get his own home/apartment. And I can tell you that this shelter is not ran correctly meaning for examples: you have a job but yet can not I repeat can not go out into the courtyard and smoke you a cigarette after 9pm and not until at least 4am, you have security here that are from street gangs who would flex on you when they want too and if you respond your liable to be kicked out, security makes false reports on you just to justify their torture towards you, they have a coffee machine of which you may not have access too until they say its alright to access it. People are left to fend for themselves in any manner of self dignity.I mean when I arrived here I thought I was blessed to find a place like to utilize in helping me come up out of being homeless but I find myself wondering if getting a tent and setting myself up on a piece of the sidewalk wouldnt be so bad IF I didnt have a goal to reach into my own house/apartment. And then theres nobody to complain to about how your being treated in here. And lets talk about the rats and bed bug problems.... This is a set up for failure written all over it and someone needs to file multiple reports on this place and have a new outlook on the union rescue mission new rules and yes new staff in order to really make a difference into helping those who are really trying too help themselves.

Rev. Andy Bales is UNION RESCUE MISSION!!!!!!! Within 4 to 6 years I have noticed that most people when it comes to ministering to the homeless they tend to get LOST along the way . Maybe its because they dont think theyre making a difference or maybe its because they are frustrated with the different sides of indifference which they see often in people on a daily basis which eventually HARDENS them or causes them to turn into CYNICAL or Calloused individuals but not REV. ANDY BALES!!!!!!! NO SIREE!!!!!!!! This gentleman is as I said before is UNION RESCUE MISSION TO A DEGREE OF 1000%. Andy who is my friend in real life is a very devout believer in Christ Lord Jesus Almighty as he walks it and talks it 24 hours a day and 365 days a year as well!!!! Andy is without fail the most GENEROUS human being that I have ever had the honor of knowing and also calling a friend as well. Andy could have chosen a much more GLAMOROUS life but he didnt. Andy could have chosen to buy a much more expensive automobile but he didnt. There are a lot of things Andy could have done different that would have made him more comfortable but as I said before Andy doesnt think about his own earthly needs but instead he is all about what he can do to help other peoples lives become just a little bit more tolerable. Thats the Andy Bales that I know. Andy has chosen to continue carrying other peoples problems and burdens on his own back and its a miracle how he is even still alive to this very day but then again thats what makes my friend Andy Bales who he is and what he is and that is simply a GOD FEARING MAN WHO IS TRYING TO STOMP OUT HOMELESSNESS AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE AT THE SAME TIME. We are very fortunate to have this wonderful and beautiful Man of God in our lives and besides who else do you know that goes out of his way to make sure that the down trodden and less fortunate stay hydrated? Andy Bales knows the way home and he will help you get there one step at a time. GOD BLESS URM & REV. ANDY BALES. I AM SO GLAD GOD CREATED YOU. I REALLY AM.

The staffs here kicked my 3 children(ages 3, 8 & 14) and I out in the cold with nowhere to go. Thru the Grace of the Creator we truly been bless to find a permnant home to call ourhome. Most of the staffs there are so coldhearted & disrespectful. Ive forgiven them on how they treated my family, but not to be forgotten! The URM treated the single Men far better than the Women with children & single Women. Expired food, syringes in the toilet, disgusting bathrooms & the mistreatment of Mean Spirited Staffs. Its a sad case! I pray for all the families and single women that have to endure that nonsense. 😩😢🙏❤ P.S. Dont be one those parents that handles your business on trying to get out of there & follow the Missions rules while youre living there. It seems like they get mad when you want betterment for your family and yourself. They pick on you even more...crazy!!!

They will take your kids the first day you go there over the parents smoking marijuana which i would like to point out is legal, they come at night when youre sleep and take your precious babies without a second thought, they lie and misconstrued what you tell them. Use your situation against you. They pick and choose who they actually HELP

Amazing staff, they really care about the mission and want to make a difference. If you have a little extra time or money I suggest donating it to this Mission, you wont be disappointed.
