Archie’s used to be “The Place” to get your cuts and shaves, but lately it’s been downhill. I have tried booking appointments several times the last few months and the guy who is supposed to cut my hair isn’t even there. The staff has always been kind and helpful and give great cuts, but today I scheduled an appt for 5:15, and when I showed up the place was completely closed at 5pm. Nothing on the door to say they were closing early. Doors were just locked. Disappointed….

Haircut was ok. I would not recommend getting the haircut and face shave combo though. That dude sliced up my face, neck and under my ear with that straight razor. And then he switched to an electric shaver when he was almost done shaving my whole face. I assume its because he saw that I was bleeding everywhere

Walked in today and waited in the front for 10 minutes without one single greeting. Archie was chatting a customer in the back but didnt have the decency to come say it will be a minute. By the way if youre a Christian avoid this place like the plague. Archie has some pretty radical ideas about Jesus Christ who walked the earth and we have hundreds of eyewitnesses and records to confirm. No records by the way of Egyptian Gods you compared our Savior to other than mythology. Wont be back and wont suggest. Oh and aliens are demons so when the Christian body is raptured everyone is going to wonder what happened and they will use the lame excuse it was a mass alien abduction.

Just went in for my appointment scheduled at 3pm by the lady the previous day, and was told they weren’t doing anymore despite having an appointment already set. This is the 3rd appointment that I’ve had set and been told i never had one or that they’re closing early. Not professional, wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody. Wasted my time and gas 3 days in a row

Ive been using Archies for a long time, but today I got to joy of having Purple cut my hair. She is AMAZING she was able to cut it better than I knew it could be cut. She read my head, and my hair and made it fit so perfectly. Im hooked on her style. Ive got a new permanent barber. Thank you Purple. Youve earned my loyalty and business.

Wait time of less than 10 minutes, an excellent hair cut and a friendly barber. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the layton area and in need of a haircut this is one of my favorites. Try to go as early as possible because they are quite popular and do get rather busy. Overall fantastic experience.

They always go above and beyond! Whatever design or cut I come in with they always achieve it and then some with their own stilo to it. Which is an absolute love.. We showed up kind of late today @ 6:20pm and they still fit my son in to get his cut and design pass closing. Thanks guys for always delivering on my kid’s cut. I actually took the train from SLC to Layton where the best barber ever went to. Daniel is the best. The atmosphere was great. Always the perfect cut and treatment. Walked in was greeted right away we waited a whole 2 minutes before my son was seated,draped and on his way to a new due... The barber was excellent he listened to my 1t year old son more then he did me which in all reality I respected because its my sons hair cut not mine. This is the second time I have taken my child here although we live in Ogden we will make the drive to come back. Excellent place.

I continue to have great service at the Archie’s in Layton. Chelsie Olson recently took care of me and she did a great job getting to know me as a person and her skills as a hair artist were top notch. I observed her calling other clients by name as they walked in the door and knowing specifics about them. I love the walk-in service and the environment. My son and I have been taken care of by different barbers and each one has been equally excellent. The price is spot on and I am more than happy giving a tip for the excellent service. I want to personally thank Chelsea and I would recommend Archie’s to anyone.

I would just like to compliment Danny on his amazing job today. This was my first visit to Archies, and it will definitely NOT be my last. Hands down, the cleanest job Ive ever had done on my hair. A bit of a delayed review but I stopped by about a week or so ago and had to do a last minute walk in close to closing. They were awesome about getting me in and taken care of. Diarra was my barber and the results were amazing. Best haircut Ive ever gotten and the atmosphere was fun and laid back. Definitely coming back here and would recommend to anyone I know!

First I would like to say that I’ve been a customer of Archies since she first opened. Also I’ve always left a 50% tip for the barber.I made an appointment online because of the Covid 19 pandemic. My appointment was for 10:00am Tuesday the 5th of May. Arrived at 10 minutes to 10:00. At 9:56am received a text message that read: (hello unfortunately our system has double booked your appointment please schedule for a later time with a specific barber thank you).I was parked out front of the main window and they didn’t even have the courtesy to come out and explain the situation and maybe come up with a solution. Tried to call but as expected it goes to an automated system so the people can hide behind text messaging.This is the final straw with Archies. Besides the fact the shop has a high turn over and the quality of the haircuts has steadily declined right along with the increases in prices. You leave me no choice but to seek out a new location to take my business, maybe one of the fantastic barbers you use to have who have opened their own shops.

People are super friendly and haircuts are done very well and prices are low although if your in a hurry this is not the place for you as for a walk in my wait was more than 30 minutes and it wasn’t crowded plus it took another 1/2 hr to get the cut completed ! I know the stylists could make more money by speeding up their cutting time while still making it a pleasant customer experience.

Well, I’ve been coming here for almost a year and a half now and I think it’s about time I leave a review. I have gotten my hair done by almost every female in this shop and they are all stellar, but Chelsie is my go-to girl. Hands down she is the best barber that has ever blessed my head! I will definitely follow her wherever she goes, but while she’s here, I will remain a loyal customer.Any new customers coming in looking to get a killer cut, I can guarantee that anyone that touches your scalp in here will get it right the first time.Love this place.

Went to Archie’s today for a full shave and a trim for my hair. Even though they are short staffed today, they are doing a fantastic job. Great shave and they take their time which to me is awesome. New computer system is a little different but other than that fantastic.

I got there at ten after ten on a Sunday morning. At 1:45 I was still waiting. People signing in after me were getting seated before me. Since when does getting something as simple as a haircut have to be such a painful experience. They do a fine job of cutting hair, but not worth the wait. From now on Im going to great clips. They take appointments and no waiting.

I have been going here for years. Everyone here does a fantastic job and cares about the quality of their work. A job change means that sometimes I have to visit other barber shops in the Salt Lake valley. They may be fancier looking in Salt Lake but for great service, quality and value Archies cant be beat! It is truly a treat when I can sneak out of work early and visit them for a shave!

Was happy with my hair cut and my beard trim but I thought with beard trim and shave ment they would shave my neck with the straight razor not just with a electric trimmer. Then david charged $10 more then the web sight says. Should been 27. He told me 37.

There are many barber shops around. They are not Archies. Straight razor shaves, beard oil, and people who know how to cut hair. Ive never seen this place not busy. Look around. There are other locations. This is a local owned place that wont let you down. The people here are great.

Ive gone to great clips my whole life and after a few mess ups i tried somewhere else. Went to Archies and got a haircut from Lacey. By far the best haircut ive gotten so far. Dont think ill ever go to great clips again!

I honestly really like it here, I got a undercut the other day and he did exactly what I wanted. Every other place I went to they would mess it up or do something completely different.

Todays my first day at Archies. Gotta tell you this is what service is all about; the courtesy, professionalism, the friendliness shown by the owner herself and her staff is second to none. This barbershop is awesome! The barbers are all very friendly and professional. My husband comes here all the time and leaves looking awesome. I have also come here to get the back of my head shaved and left happy with the end result. While stationed here at Hill, AFB we wont go anywhere else!

Looking for old school, here it is.Love the oldschool feeling as they give you a fade, but they can be cheap. Why? You ask for a haircut and a shave, they try to skip on the shave everytime except 1 person. I have to constantly remind these guys to not forget the straight edge. They kind of grunt about it, but I ask for a shave, I expect a straight edge at a old school shop.

Went to archies Layton to try and salvage a haircut gone bad. They did an impressive job fixing it and getting me back within military Regs. Will definitely be back to get a haircut in a week or two

Great place for Men and Boys. My 3 sons and I love Archies. We just drop in for a cut and have had many different barbers cut out hair. All have been great.

So loud in there. I never heard my name called. I waited an hour and 10 minutes to get my sons hair cut. And I was told it was $13. My card was charged $14. Only after I asked about it was I informed of a dollar charge for paying with a card. But in the end, the hair cut was good quality. So I might give them another shot.

I love hair cuts and especially their straight razor shaves. This time I waited 45 min while one barber went to lunch and the other filed her nails. I left without a haircut and shave.

I will go here again. Was helped by Julian, a very professional and talented barber. My hair is a pain in the ass so my cut took a bit to complete, however, it was not bad seeing as how my barber made for good conversation... On a side note, I see people complaining about long wait times on the reviews, for that I would recommend asking for your preferred barbers number so you can text them before coming in. But hey, I guess some people can just never be pleased.

Went in to get a cut with Daniel Arredondo. The best barber to have ever cut my hair. He was really cool and makes sure he keeps a conversation going that makes the cut go by quick. Definitely would go back and definitley recommend him.

Went to the place right as I got off work, got there at 1845 and they had their open sign on but door was locked. An employee saw me pull up and turned the open sign off when I tried the door. If you arent gonna stay open until 1900, dont have it advertised as such. I dont get off work until really late so these early days are the only time I can get my hair cut. If you close at six, then change your damn signs. AMD if not, then dont lock up when you see someone pull up 20 minutes before you close.

This is my regular place for haircuts and lately I’ve gotten them from Sokore, who is amazing! Great prices and high quality service every single time. I also told Sokore I had a job interview coming up and that I needed to look sharp and she fixed me up! Super confident about that interview now!

I have cuts all over my head, one continuous cut where my hard part is and then knicks all over the back of my neck. I called to try to resolve this instead of posting a positive review, but they said there was nothing they could do about that.

Normally I absolutely love this place, however I felt the need to share my experience from today. I went in for a haircut around noon and Archies was pretty busy. There were maybe five or six patrons waiting to get their haircut, and a few others that were already getting their hair cut from what I counted to be around five barbers. I signed in at the computer and waited my turn. I waited and I waited and the estimated 7 minute wait time turned into over an hour of waiting. During this time I saw barbers taking their friends or regulars who had just gotten there and seat them for their haircuts even though I was much higher on the list. It wasnt just once, it was a few times. Im leaving a three-star review because it is entirely possible that these people had appointments in some way shape or form, but from what I understand Archies doesnt do appointments, everything is scheduled in their computer queue. I am hoping that this was some kind of a fluke & I will be going back, but if something like this happens again I will be leaving little to no tip and probably will not be returning.

Best bad experiance!I went in to get a haircut and a trim on my beard, and believe me I needed one. I was pretty shaggy. After waiting a few minuets a nice woman came and asked me whether I was waiting on someone specific or if I would like her to cut my hair? I let her know I wasnt waiting on anyone and followed her to an open chair. I felt at ease and quite relaxed during my haircut. Overall a very pleasant experiance. After glancing at the cut I paid and left. I noticed something was off about my beard trim after getting in my car and beginning to leave.. Something just wasnt quite right.. I got to my destination and did a more thorough examination and noticed there were some pretty big problems with the trim I received. I returned and was noticeably agitated.. I definitely didnt expect the treatment I was given after I complained. They were awesome. The owner personally took the time to fix the mistake to the best of her ability and gave me a full refund. My beard may not be as long as it was, it also wasnt what I wanted when I went in there to get a cut and trim. But let me tell you.. They took care of me and did the best they could to fix the situation. Ill be going back there to get my hair cut and my beard trimmed again. Thank you for working so well with me!As a veteran who enjoys his haircuts, I would recommend Archies.

I get my hair cut by John about every 3 weeks. You cant beat the price or a place where people care more about what they are doing. John does a great job and makes sure you are completely happy before you get out of the chair. So glad I found Archies!

I think I was over charged for my sons shave and hot towel. I was told over the phone it would be 25.00 and I was charged 37.00. I didnt question it at the time as I thought my son may have asked for extra. Upon leaving and asking him no extra were requested. The outside of the building looks miserable, the in side isnt too bad. You have log in on a PC up front, no friendly greeting. Then u sit down and wait for the stylist to stop gabbing with co workers and call your name. I wont ever go back, and the fact they over charged is icing on the cake.

I was down on holidays in the Layton Utah area and was looking for a barber. I went to one that didnt quite get it...I will not mention the place. I found Archies online and went to see them. Not only did they fix the poor cut from the other place, but they went beyond and gave me just what I asked for?? I was very pleased and I was also happy to see that they sell Suavecito pomade! I went earlier today and let me tell you this place is the best barber shop Ive ever been too! I got tired of great clips paying too much, but still walking out unhappy with my cut... But here oh no not here. The barbers take there time and love getting a smile on your face with a nice hair cut as I saw the people there not unhappy with there haircut after they got done, not one unhappy customer. John cleaned me up real good & now hes my personal barber Im going to keep coming here because its just great. The wait its worth the wait, . So if youre tired of ole greatclips or sports clips and actually need a nice, good clean up this the place to go. The pay is great to

DO NOT GO HERE! I went to get a haircut today after work, you walk in, write your name on a list and wait to be called. It was busy so I knew my wait was gonna be awhile but I really needed a haircut. I was waiting for at least am hour when people who I was pretty sure came in after me started getting called, but I waited patiently, then a few more who DEFINITELY came in after me. I was waiting for at least an hour and a half before I decides to look at the list and sure enough! They were about 7 people down the list past me. Terrible customer service! I was sitting right in front of them and they couldnt care less. So unless youre ok with waiting forever for a sub-par haircut, youre better off going pretty much anywhere else.
