I very clearly tell the employee my son needs “a line up in the front and the sides & back in a taper fade”….a VERY common style!!! I even show him an image of how much he wants it tapered. Argues with me that he shouldn’t get a lineup because it doesn’t look good when it begins to grow back. First time I’ve ever heard that ridiculousness from a “barber”. I repeat what we need done he says no problem. Then SLAUGHTERS the sides of my sons hair leaving a strange shaped triangle on the side of his face with patches below it. The back curves in on one side & out on the other with a large PATCH missing/cut too short one one side. He goes to move on and I remind him we asked for a taper fade…..at which point he tells me he doesn’t know what that is! Asks me if I want it “tighter”. I repeat that we asked for a taper fade and ask if he knows what I’m talking about and he says no. Why didn’t he say that when we first sat down???? It’s much better to say you don’t know how to do something than have my son looking RIDICULOUS!!!! No one cared. No one offered to fix the tragic looking sides & back. No one even offered an apology!!!!

I was so excited to have my hair done here I made an appointment for the very next day, come to find out the front desk receptionist did not make my appointment for the right day and when I asked to see someone else she basically told me I’m out of luck. I took time off work and made arrangements to make sure I could make it. I will not return here.

Really careful and professional hair cutting. I have been a regular customer for over an year and a Vietnamese guy (sorry his name always goes beyond me) does my hair all the time. Highly recommended for mens haircut

Got a full set of acrylics done by Cathy. She did a wonderful job and I really enjoyed my time with her. She also gave me recommendations for stylists and I will be making an appointment soon. Everyone I met was lovely! Cant wait to go back!

RUN from Nelly! Do not let her touch your eyebrows unless you want some clown looking 90s thin line eyebrows. She butchered my beautiful full brows. I was mortified when I looked in the mirror.

Tomas is my hair savior. No other stylist has ever truly listened to me like he does. He did my wedding hair and let me tell you. It was magnificent. We did two trial runs and each time it was amazing and closer to my vision, but the day of I could not have felt like more of a romantic fairy queen. I think I maybe showed him a picture or two initially but otherwise we just workshopped it out with my tiara and veil and trying different things. He did my moms and mother in laws hair, my sister in law, and Aunt, and they all looked incredible. Thats a lot of hair to do in one day and he rocked it out like a champ. 💜

Kristins stylist artistry cant be beat! She gave me asking highlights and a perfect cut. You can tell Kristin is methodical with her work and takes her profession seriously. She didnt rush and really wanted to make sure my hair cut and highlights were what I was what I had in mind. Call and make your appointment now!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would give 1000. I’ve never been to this salon before but went for the first time because of all the positive reviews. I came in to get the ends of my hair bleached and dyed for the first time professionally (I usually do it myself) and I had Christine. Christine was beyond phenomenal. She was so friendly, clearly well educated, funny, the list could go on. The whole process took about 5 hours (longer than either of us expected) and we agreed on $65 an hour. When she realized the appointment would be longer, she ended up only charging for a 3 hour appointment. The salon also was out of stock of a certain shampoo that would help keep the bright new color in my hair so Christine offered to buy the shampoo from their store and bring it in to the salon for me to pick up (she would charge me something for the shampoo but not full price she said plus the shampoo isn’t super expensive) Christine went above and beyond for me and my hair and I couldn’t be more happy with the bright and beautiful color my hair now has. I’m never going anywhere else and trusting no one else with my hair expect Christine. Such an amazing experience!

***Important***I just want to shout out a warning to all getting their hair done in Lansing area. If you value your hair STAY AWAY from Personal Image. I had an appointment I scheduled a week ago for the day before I was leaving town. On my way to the salon the hair dresser called and canceled my appointment. I never received a call back to reschedule. If you want a reliable salon with professional staff that values your time and hair DO NOT go to personal image. I would never recommend to anyone. Unless I was Cinderella and my evil sisters needed a salon before the ball, and I would only recommend it then cause well you can imagine why! Value your self you deserve better! Treat yourself to the relaxing spa day you deserve! DONT waist you time dealing with the STRESS of personal image. Check out other salons in the area. I did and it was way worth it!

I recently moved to the area and didnt know a good stylist, but was in desperate need of one. I looked at who had the best reviews and went in to Personal Image Salon & Day Spa! I called to make an appointment and the receptionist was so nice. They got me in the same week and I was paired with Sara Prang. SHE IS AMAZING. She took the time to discuss exactly what I wanted done, gave her professional opinion and made magic happen on my hair. I walked out with a new sense of confidence. She is definitely an artist! The salon is also very relaxing and well-kept. As long as I live here I will go to this salon!

Ive seen Kate here, and she is awesome. This is a bigger more active place than my previous salon, but I like it. I do miss having a towel warmer though, but that is me being spoiled.

Ive been trying for a while to find a professional stylist that could do my hair. Growing up in Detroit and being black, Ive run into a lot of places that were hesitant to do my hair because they didnt know how or they couldnt do it how I liked. I messaged them on facebook and scheduled my appointment that way very easily and went in. Sara was my stylist and shes the absolute best. She thoroughly explained everything she was doing, made sure that I liked and understood pricing and what she was planning to do with my hair. And shes very friendly. I am VERY happy with my experience. I love my hair and will be back for other services soon. The best!

I get my hair cut and colored with Emily almost every time. She has saved my hair from some messy experiences with other stylists and Ive learned my lesson not to go to anyone else! Shes awesome and is so enthusiastic about her job and it really shows how much she loves and cares for it. She stays updated with current trends and takes classes quite often too! She is a pro!

I would have an Excellent review but I have to explain why I didnt. It was my 30th birthday and I had 9 girls do a spa day there...very nice Appeal to the place and most everyone was very friendly. I highly recommend Candice (nail tech), Brenda (nail tech) and Abby (make up)! They were so SUPER awesome! The owner Charles was just GREAT! Even gave me a birthday present! Now for the bad news...Two of his employees were late for work putting me and my party behind schedule by almost 2 hours. The girls that were late were very rude to guests. I did inform the owner Charles, where in return apologized and said he would address it. I feel like some compensation would have calmed my anger a little more at the time, but I understood it wasnt his fault. I would recommend them and I will return!

I had a stylist mess up my (what I asked for: ice/ ash blonde), to a horrible orangey brassy blonde.Someone recommended Kim at personal image, so I went to her for a fix, wanting to get the orange out, and get back to my natural blonde.Kim was so attentive and made sure to discuss with me the issue and the result I wanted. She then went on to fix me back to a beautiful blonde.She COMPLETELY got the brass out. My hair looked completely neutral, soft, baby blonde- I am SO happy to be back to my favorite shade of blonde!! I highly recommend kim, for blondes especially, shes fantastic.

Way overpriced. I got a root color touch-up, a cut, and a Pedi. With tip, I dropped $200. The stylist didnt even bother scrubbing the color off my hairline. Twice as much as Id normally spend and the service wasnt great.
