Especially love the clean atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the excellent childcare while I workout. Our daughter loves her swim lessons and is gaining new skills and confidence with each class.
I returned to the Y after being off 19 months due to the pandemic. I am so glad that I did not cancel my membership! There are plenty of times to swim and do other activities. The staff is very helpful, and the members are friendly. The facility is spotlessly clean!
I like this YMCA. It has a lot of work out equipments, big swimming pool, yoga room and babysitting room. The staffs are nice and friendly. Especially, the front desk staff, Terrance (Terry). I will definitely be back when Im in town.
I went in to ask about Swimming Lessons for my Sons. Everyone was really Nice, it was very Clean, and Emily answered all of my questions. Im very excited for my Sons to start Their lessons.
Always clean, friendly staff, great equipment. It tends to get pretty busy at times, but Ive never had to wait for cardio equipment. Really great place.
Wonderful Neighborhood amenity. Clean, well stocked with equipment, good pool and fun classes.
The Lakewood YMCA is a wonderful facility. A full range of exercise options and a fantastic cardio/weight room. The staff is friendly and helpful and the facility is always spotlessly clean.
The love the Lakewood Y. The staff is incredibly friendly and know their members by name. They have a great workout room that is separate from the main weight lifting room that can be reserved. This room has all of the equipment that I need to get in an awesome workout.
Very nice near brand new building. Great adult mens bball leagues on Wed evenings and close to local bars
Good gym. Wish they opened earlier and had a little more variety of equipment.
Clean facility, friendly staff, great group exercise classes.
Time & time again, I work myself over lifting weights. Those who sow plentifully, reap abundantly.
This gym has improved quite a bit since the lock down. Upgraded machines and are better utilizing the relatively small gym space. Most gym goers have no clue how to properly re-rack weights. I would avoid during peak hours.
This rating has nothing to do with the YMCA facility, but rather the Cleveland Clinic PT Services that is adjunct to the YMCA. I told my doctor I had back pain and they referred me here. Spent a half hour with the therapist who seemed impersonal to me and sent me home with a simple stretch and how to sit to improve posture like I was a senior citizen (I am 33yrs old and in good physical shape). A month later I found out they charged me $1,400. I cant think of anyone in this world whos time is worth $1,400/half hour, let alone the services that I received. I caution anyone reading this to not go here for physical therapy unless your hobbies include lighting money on fire.
Clean nice staff members and they listen to any concerns and if its needed they will act accordingly
Staff is amazing and so nice. Very willing to help. Cardio machines are updated and excellent. Strength machines, however, are old. The seating on some is cracking and there is barely any room for lifting. Variety of classes available. Swimming area is a bit small not the most conducive to lap swimming.
My visit there was good even though it was for PT. For some reason my doctor thinks pt is for physical therapy but after today I have a much clearer vision and I now know that pt really stand for pain and torture. For all future visits Ill take pain meds before I go!!! So if you want a work out that makes you feel like youve achieved a goal with the saying No pain no gain then this is the place to be.
Great program here
Emily at the front desk is very rude and condescending she is the one of the reasons why I deactivated my membership
My car was broke and I needed to go there in person to join. A very nice young lady that works there offered to pick me up and take me there. They are very caring. Join if you can!
I joined this YMCA to play basketball. Yet every week, EVERY WEEK, there is a Zumba class, blood drive, Jr. cavs, pickle ball, volley ball or random event using the basketball courts. It makes it extremely inconvenient. And staff only lets you know that the courts are being used when you arrive. There’s rarely ever notification. To take time out of my day, which I’m paying for, and then be told every week, “sorry you can’t play basketball today”. It Might be the MOST annoying thing I’ve ever heard. You’re wasting my time, and my money. There should always be one side of the basketball courts open to members. AT ALL TIMES. ITS FOR BASKETBALL! Sure, go ahead and take half of the court, that’s fine. But for management to allow both sides being taken at once is ridiculous. Its insensitive to members, and shows lack of organization.
There are enough exercise stations and a large enough space that even when the Y is busy, I can get my light workout in. And its clean. And the staff is upbeat. And its family-friendly in all ways. And its affordable. And it contributes significantly to the community. Way to go, folks!!
Great classes and a chance to have workout friends. I love the Y.
I always have a great experience when my kids and i visit this location. Everyone cleans areas very well.
Be warned customer service regarding membership is lackluster at best. Tried to get a refund for being charged for a year of membership after already having ended my membership and have been met with resistance at every step.Facilities are wonderful and well maintained. Staff are relatively helpful. Customer service and accountability are poor.
Cleveland Clinic has physical therapist hiding in the back of the Ymca. Great therapist. I docked a star because I saw a woman performing incorrectly. None told her what she was doing incorrectly which could cause further damage.
Looks good. Nice new workout machines. Social distancing observed
Physical therapy painful experience but its worth it
Nice friendly and clean
Very friendly staff. They are trying hard to make this Y the best possible. I have been working with a personal trainer Corey for a few months. Well worth the investment! He is awesome.
Im a new member and my first impressions arent great. I chose this gym over others because they had group classes that I wanted as a part of the membership. The equipment seems dated and unclean. The place needs to be deep cleaned, there was debris in every crevice of the machines I used. The lockers in the womens locker room are rusty. The staff is nice but the facility is old and cramped.
Much better. Had a bad experience at Warrensville last weekend. Much more to offer at Lakewood.
I love this place!
Silver sneakers is free here. Access to everything. Meet my son there around 3pm and no wait on the machines. People are wearing masks and sanitizing when they leave a machine.
Lots of open swim and lap swim. Variety of water exercise classes. Swimming lessons and aqua therapy. Clean locker rooms. And a hot tub! Friendly staff.
Wide variety of classes and various times, Huge pool and a lot of available free swim times throughout the week. Tons of machines, parking, and space for workouts inside in various rooms / areas of the gym. Child care center is large also. Front desk staff always friendly!
John H has been my trainer for a couple years, hes got new ideas for strength training every week, keeping things very challenging and never stale. He also runs some workout classes that are are higher intensity. (CAOS, TRX, Y Strength).Im in the Y 2-3 times a week and the staff is friendly all around, and the maintenance staff is meticulous, it seems like theres someone cleaning surfaces all day long
The philosophy of the organization shows in all staff! Programs are well run, our entire family is engaged, the building is safe and clean. Keep up the great work!
Visited the Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation center
Staff is always friendly. The place is clean and the prices are reasonable for a facility with this type of amenities. A great place for family and adults with programs and classes for all ages.
If you want to throw your money away, have a good laugh, have my 600lb life coaches in charge while craving snacks, this is the place for your kid. I have seen more talent in free recreation centers. They are not challenging these kids full potential. I gave them 1 star just to share the truth. #2019#wtf
I enjoy the Flexible Core and Silver Sneakers Muscular Strength classes and the friendly, helpful staff.
There is a wide variety of equipment and a friendly staff. Thanks.
I enjoy coming here. The prices are fair or at least within my budget. It gets a little crowded even in the mornings, specially during the summer. I give four stars because I wish they had more classes for adults at a 10-12 schedule. (That is mostly elderly adults classes schedule).
Residue from filtration system in the pool.Brought to Directors attention. Was told no equipment availible to clean it???Someone needs to explain to ALL employees that Silver Sneakers is not free.Almost all who use it pay a monthly insurance premium.Fitness area well staffed and managed.Wish their competence was apparent in all areas .
Great Classes and teachers. Best bang for your buck.
Some one didnt tell us the swimming schedule when we checked in.couldnt go☹️
Its a great place to swim
This place is unfriendly, the regulars think they are the only ones allowed to be there. Your can sense the intolerance.I only go because of convenience also there is no ventilation smell like unrelenting human sweat all the time !
Best YMCA in the city
Workout areas bursting at the seams crowded most of the time. They make it VERY difficult to end your membership...they also require a 30 day cancelation notice...so now have to pay for another full month I wont use after canceling june 5th (they are charging me for july also). I find this to be a sneaky money making scheme that is completely unnecessary. Unhappy with this gym. Staff are nice but that is only plus.
Pretty clean considering it is a busy, communal space. Very friendly staff. Occasionally difficult to use the swim lanes/weight machines due it being a busy location depending on the time of day.
Its a great place with many options to keep you fit.
The classes here are wonderful, and the trainers very approachable. Downside is that the website is unreliable. Four different times in several months either the wrong months calendar was up, cancellations are never updated, times are not updated. For some of us we cant keep a regular schedule due to work but still want to be able to attend classes when we can, we wont always have access to the paper copy. The downloadable one is almost never up to date, and the one directly on the webpage not updated. I have driven 20 minutes on numerous occasions only to realize the class isnt happening. The regular gym is still there to use but that is not what I purchased my membership for. I have regular workout equipment at home I can use for that. Unorganized, and the front desk is often clueless, tell you the incorrect class room or have no idea about their own bulletin boards. Bulletin board said sign up for new Tuesday toda at the front desk and the front desk not only didnt know a start date but said there is no sign up. Guess who missed yoga?
Very kid friendly and always clean.
I love this Y, because it is updated compare to the other ones around here. Excellent workers!!
This community center is extremely expensive. This only benefits certain parts of the community, as it stands. The physical therapy team is excellent, though. This rating isnt for them. Its for the price gougers.
Its conveint for me Im 5 minutes away love the atsmoshere and staff meeting
I have been a member here for almost a year now. Everyone here is friendly and super helpful.
This is without a doubt the worst YMCA that Ive been to. Its incredibly unclean and they have machines that stay broken for MONTHS without being fixed.
Love the energy, during peak times the lockers on the main floor are all taken, everyday
Hands down the worst referees in their Mens Basketball Leagues. waste of $50.00 to play in the league, and the fact you have to pay 35.00 a team each game for ridiculously horrible officiating, to the point even teams that are winning games are fed up. Not all are bad, a few are respectful and just miss a call here and there, then there is a handful of refs who blatantly miss calls out of spite. I heard on the other end of the court last night a player and a ref getting into it after a game, and the ref slurring out words such as you suck, your team sucks, learn how to play basketball, etc charging in the players direction seemingly trying to fight. (Tall red headed ref, out of shape) It is my 5th session in a row, i love to play, but it has been consistently terrible officiating, blown games bc of missed calls, you talk back to the ref you have a death wish of never getting another call in your favor again. I highly recommend checking out Ohio Nets mens leagues or pretty much anywhere else besides here. Good Day
Probably best ymca in northern ohio. Lots of babes.
Great pool
Call it coincidence, call it bad luck....but Everytime I come to this gym, theres always an issue with certain services offered. I rarely go to this gym; my wife primarily uses it for one machine while they watch the kids. But for the past 5-6 times in one year that Ive come to use the gym, I havent been able to get the full potential as I thought I was paying for. One day I come to use the pool theres no lifeguard; sorry but its unavailable today. Another day I come to use the locker AND the pool, find a sign that says both are closed for two weeks. Go to use one of the family room restrooms, the one I pick has no door lock for privacy. I look around for a workable lock out of the four they have-one says occupied all the time, and the other two say out of service. Lucky for me I fouND one public toilet because I needed to use one with a stall for privacy. Area is terrible for Verizon so theres no signal for me to right this post. But, wait....they have Wi-Fi! Great, I was easily able to access their Wi-Fi without a password! Excellent! I feel comfortable with their Internet service which doesnt have the most minimal protection as a God forsaken password. So that only opens up the ease of a hacker who doesnt have membership to sit in the parking lot to access anyones information thats working out for an hour. Not to mention, while Im calmly sitting hear doing my business, a centipede runs right by me as a final straw! I miss Ballys!
Been coming to the gym for 2 years,until i left my stuff in a locker came back the next day my lock was cut and everything was gone; i asked the front desk wheres my stuff they said its your fault for not renting a locker, rude staff they tried to give me some beat up shoes, like are u joking i had new shoes or i wouldnt be complaining, never do i reccommend anybody to go there unless you want your stuff stolen;
Nice, up to date, good exercise classes!
Good area great for exercise...
Just as good as I remember
Sauna by pool . Yoga for premium member
Has improved so much over the years--still dont understand why theres no longer an indoor track there.
Drove 40 minutes to this gym to buy a day pass and work out with my friends. I was then told they dont sell day passes anymore. Gee, you guys must really hate money! Thanks for wasting my money and gas!
Clean . Friendly
Friendly atmosphere
The basketball courts
Wow
Very good
