The cars are constantly being broke into in both paid and off street parking. Multiple fire alarms during the middle of the night and an extremely dangerous fire. Blood has been found splattered several times by residents in the common areas. Urine is often found in the lobby and common areas as well. Chairs and furniture have been thrown out windows from the top floor resulting in glass covering the sidewalks. Homeless people gain access to the lobby and sleep there and nothing is done. The local Mac properties office is annoyed when you contact them with complaints and nothing is ever done when you complain. Don’t rent at Westport Central or from Mac.
Complicated, but MAC properties is a great organization. They protect their residents and offer a great product.
Going on 48h no AC. I’m posting it here because I don’t know what else to so. Maintenance and Management need to get it together. Nothing gets fixed ever. I’ve been living here for a year and I get told that it’s too hot or too cold for my AC to work? What’s the point of having it?
Ive been trying to work with them for a month now about refunding me money that they owe me for a rebate. Literally zero communication and follow-up. No commitment to returning what they owe me after I called and asked about it on the phone AND in person. Its my first month here. Absolutely ridiculous.
These apartments are for cheapskates who dont appreciate electricity. Just look closely at the interior photographs. There are NO outlets in the kitchen, so throw away all your kitchen appliances like coffee maker, toaster, and food processor. There are only one or two outlets in the living room, so get ready to throw out some of your computer and TV equipment. There is NO outlet in the bathroom, so dont bother with your hair drier, electric razor, and electric toothbrush.
Awful bug infestations, constant hot water issues, constant fire alarms, and there was a fire around Christmas eve.
Enjoy living here.
Absolutely awful. Crime ridden, overpriced, dirty, roach-infested and doesn’t care about residents concerns, by far the worst experience I’ve had in an apartment building. Mac properties really needs to gut this place and make it into something HABITABLE. They claim it’s a “good deal” because some of their apartments are rent-controlled but I found a clean, nice apartment in the crossroads twice the size for only $100 more. If you want a gross overpriced apartment filled with nasty people, Westport central is your place.
Nathan is great with response time and a very polite Gentleman. Definitely hope to have future maintenance done by him.
Superb ambiance. Well maintained. I am resident here with absolutely no problem with service available 24*7 in any emergency !👍
Very fast and very responsive.Thank you Nathan!Great work!
I moved in February 1 and put in some work orders for things to be fixed. John put a new battery in my smoke alarm and Nathan checked the dishwasher and fixed the leak from the bathtub faucet and put a new valve on my radiator. I was impressed by how quickly all these problems were addressed.
Great staff, any maintenance Ive requested have been handled promptly in a reasonable amount of time. I wish Mac Property have a higher review but it seems other reviews are based on unforeseen events, and then the review is magnified in great details with all horrible emotions included, but rarely do they mention how soon the problem were fixed or fixed at all. Its unfortunate we live in a world where bad news spread faster than good news.
I live here during 2016-2017, and this place is deplorable. this place is infested with roaches, and BED BUGS. Both can be seen at night roaming the hall ways, on the walls, through the carpet, its disgusting!! I had to be sprayed for roaches twice and bed bugs once. It didnt help. I even went out and got my own pest spray because maintanence didnt respond fast enough. The dumpster in the back is always stacked with mattresses from people having to throw them out because of the bed bug infestation. As far as I know, it is infested from the first to the fourth floor. I know this because I talked to a tenant on the fourth floor who was being sprayed for them. I dont know if its higher than that but you have been warned! Not to mention homeless people are always sleeping in the side entrance during winter and there is always somebody at night going through the dumpsters because they dont have them secure. This place is easily the worst place Ive ever lived!!
I have lived here for about six months and as I read other reviews I agree and disagree with some of the issues.Parking: yes parking can be a pain, but we all rented here knowing they didnt have designated parking and it was street parking. Well, newsflash people, you live in a building that houses over a hundred apartments, do you think no one drives? I have never had an issue finding a space. Once a month I have to park far away, and that is usually when Im looking for a spot at 3am.Elevators: So theyre loud and shaky at times, but it gets me where I need to go.Dogs: You can hear them when you are in the halls at times, but Ive never heard them while inside my apartment. The only time I hear anything is if someone is outside the apartment door. Also people dont clean up after their dogs a bunch, so be careful when you walk outside, but thats not the apartments fault.Laundry Room: it is kept clean, a few times I had dryers not work and it was a pain and time consuming. Also the fact that you can only full your laundry card during office hours, at the main office, is quite a pain in the ass, and very inconvenient.Hot water: at least once a month there is issues with the boiler... I hate waking up and having to take a cold shower before work.Cleanliness: the building is fairly clean, I think the lobby area could use a few new couches and a bit of an update. I have never had any issues with bugs or mice. The apartment itself: I have a one bedroom, its a decent size. Only thing I dont like about it, is we have a dark brown carpet and you can see EVERYTHING on it. I literally have to vacuum every day. Also there are no screens in the windows. Not a huge deal, but a good thing to know.Hope this helps!
Hello, I just wanted to write that yet for another time Nathan and Charlie did an amazing work amd fixed my second radiator valve and replaced it with a new one.The had the approval to enter my apartment even if i was not there. The left everything clean and clear and in their position. Both of them are really helpful always kind and know how to fix things !!!! Good job guys for one more time.
Nathan and his crew do great work. Thanks for your help.
Nathan and Charlie in maintenance are amazing and have helped us out several times. Super quick, thorough, and effective.
Nathan from maintenance fixed my oven light and repainted my window sills in less than 24 hours and did an excellent job! Thank you Nathan!
Within a day of putting in a maintenance request, Nathan showed up was very polite and quick and efficient.
Please don’t live here. I rented for 6 months in 2016, and had a terrible experience with bed bugs. The office staff did not give me appropriate directions or leave a note like they said they would for how to prepare for the treatment, so when the pest control came to spray it was ineffective. I moved out a month early due to the bed bugs, and the complex would not work with me on a refund even though I’ve seen many reviews posted about how the building is infested. The management was not friendly or helpful, and having bed bugs is easily a traumatic experience when no one will help you solve the problem. Please invest a little bit more money and live elsewhere.
I am literally counting down the days until I get to move out of this dump. I dont even know where to begin with how much Ive HATED my experience living here. For starters, when they showed me the apartment, I was blown away the carpet looked fresh the walls looked clean, it was much bigger than I expected. The woman said Now, this isnt your apartment. But yours is bigger. Fast forward to moving day: my apartment looked completely different. A super awkward layout, oddly placed closets, gross looking carpet, and it was definitely SMALLER!And when I moved in I could tell the apartment was not ready because there were literally snacks in the f***ing cabinet from the renovation crew. The paint was chipped and the chips were all over the carpet. Theres a giant hole around the shower head where I assume they were going to do dry wall? The cost racks werent even up and the carpet didnt look like it had been washed. Vile. They said they would bring someone in to fix these things but literally never did. Oh wait. They fixed ONE of the coat racks. Then I noticed how completely vile my hallway was. There was mud (but lets be real, with how many giant dogs live in this building) dug into the carpet. The whole floor smells like bad breath, musty, and like burnt hamburger meat. I literally hold my breath until I get into my apartment. The smell gets into your apartment so I went out and bought a fan just to point at my door to keep the smells from seeping in.Then theres the issue of never having hot water. Waking up on a cold winter day to cold water is a terrible way to start your day. Wish I could say this only happened once. Its a regular occurrence. Now, Im also fairly certain this building has a mold problem. I have a whole closet that smells entirely like mildew despite me having never put anything in it. A thick black liquid has leaked from my pipes. I feel gross living here. And maintenance, if they ever respond to your requests, come up with some BS excuse for what it is. Even will say Yeah I have no idea. This apartment building is way way way overpriced for what it actually is. The amenities dont make up for that (I mean come on. A coffee machine that never works and a workout room with broken equipment, laundry machines that you have to use over and over to dry your clothes). I have friends who pay way less than I do yet they live in a clean building with landlords that actually tend to their needs. This building is disgusting despite their efforts to clean it up. There is dog poop everywhere. No one picks it up. No one cares because this area is already a dump. Dont be fooled by the new renovations! This place is gross. Dont rent with Mac, find a land lord that doesnt work for a big company and cares about his tenants.
This is the worst apartment Ive ever lived in. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. First off living on the 9th floor is like a sauna. I constantly have my air going which racks up the electric bill. My shower blasts extremely hot water randomly and at least once a week the shower is ice cold. The elevators are extremely sketchy and the noise is unbarrable. The walls are paper thin and I hear dogs barking all day long in the hallway. I have gotten towed multiple times because of lack of parking as well. This apartment does lot even have parking for its tenants. Its quite ridiculous. There was also a fire this winter and I still do not know what caused it. It could be those tenants fault or the buildings which makes me scared to sleep there every night. I think there are way better options for apartments than Westport Central.
My Friend moved here after reading the reviews lol. The reviews were correct this place sucks!
I wouldnt recommend these apartments to my worst enemy! The parking is TERRIBLE! If you get home after a certain time you will have to drive around the whole area just to find a spot..and finding a legal spot isnt guaranteed. When I first moved in my apartment was not clean and when I alerted management they did not fix the issue. The elevators are extremely slow and too small to fit anything bigger than a queen bed. On top of all the other issues, the building has mice and the management does not seem to care. I am having to move out after only 2 months of living at Westport Central.
Thank you Nathan for the quick and clean maintenence.
I lived here for a year from 2015-2016. My experience with this complex was very dis-satisfactory. I ended up having the lease terminated because WPC could not reliably provide water to my unit on the 10th (top) floor. I believe this was an issue due to the water system in the buildings age, please read the list of cons below for details.Pros:Good location if you like going out and about in KC, you are less than 10 minutes from the Plaza, Westport, Downtown, Crossroads, River Market, and the West Bottoms. Rent is relatively affordable compared to other places in the city. Management is friendly and usually responsive for routine maintenance requests. Ted is good to work with, very friendly and knowledgeable. Google Fiber is available.Cons:Parking will be an issue for all residents without an assigned space (about 10 total spaces, waiting list took almost a year, +$40/month). The area itself is a little sketchy, but not awful. The building is very old, you will find your unit lacking many basic features you are likely used to such as: kitchen space, cabinet space (none in the bathroom), and there are few electrical outlets in each unit (none in bathrooms). They claim it was renovated within the last 5 years, and this may be true. However, I believe my problems with the water system were due to an un-thorough renovation as far as the pluming is concerned. This was a MAJOR issue that resulted in the termination of my lease. There were days when I had no water at all, no hot water, or no cold water. I could easily go periods of weeks and months without reliable water for bathing and cleaning, it was unsanitary and violated MACs responsibilities laid out in the lease and as regulated by the State of Missouri. I worked with all levels of management (up to regional) in my attempts to get this problem fixed to no avail. They refused to provide alternative accommodation during my stretches without water, and they refused to refund or pro-rate rent for the times I could not stay in my apartment due to these conditions.
This is a great place to live in KC.Its got some problems. But if you can deal with limited street parking, faulty elevators, and a crummy boiler, this is honestly one of the best places in KC to live.
Thank you, Nathan! Great work!
Worst place, homeless people sleep in the lobby almost every day, and your stuff WILL be stolen if not locked up.
Floors smell terrible, you can’t cook a couple of eggs and ham without tripping the fire alarm, hard wood floors seem loose so you hear every single step you take, hearing system ain’t as good and I’ve seen homeless people o 3 occasions just sleeping in the lobby or literally in the main entrance of the building....
