Nice, convenient location. Barbers do a great job and are laid back and friendly. Pretty quite atmosphere but I went first thing in the morning while everyone was still waking up. First time I’ve had a barber ask specific questions about how I wanted my hair cut and styled. Took my two young boys and all our haircuts turned out great. We saw Cris but everyone coming in there was getting great looking cuts.

Definitely an amazing atmosphere if you enjoy the open conversation of barbershop! Matt there is amazing and I’ve been getting my haircut by him since he started the process. Very professional and always asks what kind of cut you want. I’ve had him so all sorts on my hair and all have been amazing. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a new place/barber. Both of my boys needed hair cuts desperately, both were seen and had cuts and with a little explanation both got what they wanted. I was completely happy with the experience and both boys were to. Very friendly environment and will be returning and recommending in the future.

My husband made an appointment for 130, showed up 5 minutes early just to end up waiting until 155 until we left. No one said anything to him or apologized for the wait. When we first walked in they asked if he had an appointment and we said yes for 130. They close at 2 we we just left.

Took my sons for haircuts. There was an activity corner for my youngest while his brother got his haircut. The barbers were all down to earth and created an overall relaxing atmosphere. And both boys came out looking like a million bucks thanks to Matt.

Called ahead to ask if they had experience cutting hair for biracial hairstyles. The man (tall white male) who answered said yes and so I set up an appointment. I arrived for my appointment and confirmed with the same man I spoke to on the phone that my hairstyle will not be complicated for them to cut. I wanted a bald fade - There was NO fade. even my dad commented how my hair starkly changed from the top of my head to the side of my head. Very disappointed with this experience since I had asked ahead of time and would’ve preferred a more honest answer if they did not know how to cut my hair style. biracial hairstyles are always different and my hair is extremely curly, I would’ve preferred an honest answer before having a mediocre haircut.

I came here on a Saturday morning, 15 mins after opening thinking Id beat the wait and I was right. Only 2 barbers both in the middle of cuts, no lines. I walked in, no greeting, no acknowledgement, they didnt even look up. I took a seat not really offended because maybe theyre in the zone.One barber finished the cut, swept up his area, took off his apron and walked past me. No eye contact, no Ill be right with you Im going to take a break, NOTHING.Call me old-fashioned but I think you should greet customers and show some basic customer service and kindness. This is an industry that was shut down during the pandemic and has recently been open so you think theyd be more appreciative of someone choosing them as a business.I ended up going down the street about a mile and a half to Judes barbershop they were warmer, receptive I got an excellent haircut no waiting and proper customer service. I will never go to uncle is again and anybody looking for a haircut I will definitely steer them away from there.

Atmosphere feels off if you are new and dont know any of them I made an appointment and had to wait for two other people what really upset me is what they did to my best friend the day before his wedding they said his barber he booked weeks ago was not available and gave him some new guy and he had to have another barber redo his hair last minute NOT GOOD for your reputation unvlees. Unc Lee took the time to make sure that I was happy with the cut before just rushing to his next cut, while also not taking forever. Love the fact theyre open later than most barbershops, which helps because of my work schedule. I drive 45 mins to Unc Lees because theyre good at what they do.

I get my haircuts from Lee himself and it’s great. We always laugh about something and he’s always engaging his customers. He listens well and can do pretty much anything you ask for. The atmosphere of the shop is also great. Everyone does a great job of keeping the place clean. Overall great experience every time I go in.

I went to cut myself today and I was very deluded. I am going to give him a star to be able to comment for a barber what they have in a ball of useless they do not even know what they do and apart they charge they are not ashamed of what they wanted to have for service and cut

I took my 4 year old son and was highly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, the balance of community & professionalism and the general friendly nature of all the Barbers. My son entered with a fear of haircuts but left with a fantastic cut & a desire to go back for his next one already!UncLee, himself, took special time to talk my son through the process and made him feel especially included when they picked out a design for his hair. He made the whole process incredibly soothing for my son!

I took my 4-year-old son to Unclee’s for the first time last week. We made a 9:30am appointment with Sam and when we arrived, there was only 1 barber there (turned out to be Sam) and someone had just sat down in his chair. He didn’t greet us or let us know what was happening… we waited until 10am when he finished and then finally said “sorry, I double booked my 9:30am slot.” As he starts the haircut, he keeps trying to force my son’s head back and the angle is unnatural and hair kept falling into his eyes. Then my son gets panicky because while hair is in his eyes and Sam is forcefully holding his neck back, my son says his neck hurts and starts to cry. Sam loudly sighs, annoyed. I tell him that he can’t force my child’s head back like that—that he needs to be able to sit up straight because it just wasn’t working and something was hurting him. He finishes the haircut, finally, and when my son gets up, I see that the back of his head and neck were all scraped up, with one large scrape at the base of his neck and smaller red welts all in his hairline. I don’t know if it was from the clip on the cape and Sam forcing and holding his head back or if it was from the clippers… but regardless, this shouldn’t happen. We have had haircuts all over and have never had an experience like this. It was just horrible from top to bottom.Sam should clearly not be cutting kid’s hair. Don’t advertise to children if this is the way they are treated.

I love coming here! I remember the first time I went here, I almost didnt go. But here I am, 6 years later, finally writing my review. Even though Lee has moved the shop from Vine to West Main, it still has an at-home feel and is a very accepting place. And everyone is very professional and the shop is very clean in the whole covid pandemic. I dont let anyone cut my hair besides Lee, and because of that I always have the best haircuts. And at an unbeatable price, youll be getting your moneys worth and then some. Seriously, this will be the best haircut youll get in all of Southwest Michigan. Next time Im getting the beard trim too :)

I love this shop! My boys and I have been coming here for years. I have one son who is on the spectrum and used to hate haircuts. Through the barbers taking an interest in his interests and talking him through haircuts we are now successfully get through haircuts with ease! I also get my hair cut here, and have never left with out a great cut!! The barbers are amazing and the atmosphere is always positive!

One of the worse cuts Ive had in a while. When I showed up, they told me the guy who I had an appointment with had just decided to leave for the day so Id have to wait for someone else. He ignored about half of the instructions I gave and got testy with me when I was asking to try and fix them a bit. Also very much a non-professional setting, which is fine if you like that, but the guys are just blasting music and yelling at each other across the shop about stuff the whole time. Feels like half the time they were paying more attention to the conversation than the haircuts. Not planning on coming back.Edit: Seems I struck a nerve from that childish tirade of a response. Dont get your feelings so hurt over one review, its not good for your health.

I had a great visit to UncLees Barber shop today. I have usually only gone to the quick cheap places that are a dime a dozen. But I figured Id try something different. I got a great haircut and it was a all around great experience. Definitely feel like I have been missing out by going to the quick cut shops the last 10 years. Ill be back again and look forward to it.

I needed my COVID hermit beard trimmed down so I could come out of hibernation and rejoin society. UncLee knew exactly what I needed and got my beard and ‘stache looking sharp and crisp. Between that and a fresh head shave I left the shop feeling good about how I look. Hope to be a regular customer from now on.

I am very picky when it come to getting my hair cut. Before coming here, I would drive almost an hour to Grand Rapids just to get a haircut every 2-3 weeks. UncLee does a good job and definitely will not disappoint. They also have an online booking system, which is extremely helpful.

Got a haircut with a guys with a LV apron and glasses, I couldn’t find a way to post pictures in here but he just messed up my hair really bad “trying to expand my forehead (I already have enough) and did not stop when I told him not to do it. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I came here after reading some very positive reviews online of this place, perhaps they got my expectations a bit too high. The end result of my haircut was fine, not amazing, not bad. But what really turned me off was the rough way the barber handled me head and hair as he cut it. Usually a barber will use light pressure to indicate where they want you to move my head, this barber would just pull forcefully on my head. Frequently pulling it so far back I was just looking at the ceiling which is less than comfortable. He also used a very firm grip on my hair to the point he wasnt simply holding it but pulling on it causing further discomfort. He also popped my mask off several times without asking me to do it or commenting that he was going to do it. I understand he needs the space around the straps but a heads up would have been nice so I could hold it in place. He also lowered his mask a few times for no reason at all while cutting my hairFinally he didnt attempt at all to clean up his space between customers so I was walking through huge clumps of the last persons hair in my sandals.All in all I cant say I recommend this place after my experience perhaps my expectations were too high after reading other reviews, but based on what I experienced today I dont think Ill be returning.------A day later I received the following message which I found appropriate as a response to this review. I declined any remediation from UncLee but wanted to update my review to reflect his response.Hi Andrew. I am the owner of UncLee barbershop- UncLee. This is not our standard. Unclee’s is a Kalamazoo Classic. Lee himself faded me up. Atmosphere was fun and relaxing. If you like good music, good haircuts, and a lot of laughter you need to come through Unclee’s.

Great place. Nice vibe nice interior with the pool table and games. But the negative was my husband got his beard groomed and said the barbers hands smelled like cigarettes.

Unacceptable level of making crass jokes about people in the shop and their significant others. Haircut was okay. Sent a crazy amount of promotional texts that literally never stop even if you respond unsubscribe (they did reach out and help with this part - thank you).

Great haircuts for a reasonable price. Staff is funny and wont hesitate to joke around with you. Its clear upon first entering that the guys who run the shop love what they do and their work shows.

UncLees Barber shop is great. Lee and the guys provide great cuts and are welcoming to everyone. Its a great barber shop experience without having to sit there for hours; unless you cant pull your kids away from the VR system, pool table or arcade games!! The owner is active in the community and always looking for ways to give back to the neighborhood kids.

Best fades in the Kalamazoo area... Actually best fades Ive gotten anywhere.I highly suggest making an appointment. Ive gone a few times as a walk in and had to wait quite some time to get fit into their schedule. They roasted me the whole time.Which brings me to a point other than their fantastic cuts. The banter is top notch. Lees quips are as sharp as his clippers. If you cant go toe to toe with him and his crew they will have you bleeding out before youre even in the chair.I dont come here as often as I would like due to them not being open Sundays, but I get a great fade and great conversation when I do make it in.

I give them a 2 star review only because theyre a small business.I got my haircut here and the haircut was fine, but the barber cutting my hair gave me serious razor burn on my scalp that made me have to go and get special shampoo.Also, the atmosphere was the most bro place I have ever been. A collection of dudes talking about how theyd tongue punch her chocolate starfish and how she wasnt the most attractive but theyd still do her - if thats your vibe then this is the place for you.Also, there was hair all over the counters so thats another point against them.
