My wife and I just moved to Johnson City, and dealing with Shane has been a nightmare.We hired Shane to remove a few large branches hanging over our house, both in the front and back yard. He and his wife showed up to do the work and he removed all of the branches we requested from the backyard on the first day. He left all the wood debris and stumps in our yard and said he would be back the next day to pick up the access wood and his tools since it was getting dark. We agreed, and even told Shane we would gather some of the smaller/midsize branches and have the city take them so he didnt have to haul so much wood. After a couple days Shane finally came back and gathered his tools but never cleared the tree limbs he left in our backyard. There were huge holes from where the branches had fallen and our grass was dying. We never signed a contract because he said it would only be a 1-2 day project. We paid him $400+ to remove the tree limbs in our backyard. A week later he finally showed up to complete the work in our front yard. I was at work when he came to do the front yard, and he demanded that my wife pay him in cash upfront. We didnt have the cash on hand so we wrote him a check. This was around 4:15pm and Shane decided to run to the bank to immediately cash the check. My wife had to leave for work so she didnt see Shane come back to complete the job. He ended up only trimming a few branches in our front yard, and ignored the limbs hanging over our house. I travel a lot for work and my wife works in the medical field so we were unable to monitor Shane while he was working. We have contacted him multiple times via text and by phone to see when he could come complete the job and remove the huge stumps from our backyard. He has ignored every message and I was forced to clean everything by myself. He stole money from us and is too much of a coward to respond to our messages. NEVER hire this person. He will demand money up front and destroy your yard with huge tree limbs and stumps. Hell also avoid your calls if he is supposed to come back to finish a job. Ive shared a picture of what my backyard looked like after Shane refused to come and clean up the tree limbs and stumps.

Unfortunately, my experience was very similar to Shaadis. After quoting me $450.00, Shane came to my house on 05-13-19 and took a tree down. He asked if the smaller limbs that fell in the lot next to mine could be left and I agreed as it seemed no harm. He basically left all the limbs in this lot. After getting the tree down to a stump approximately 3 feet high, he said Its late and my saw is acting up. Is it ok to come back tomorrow and finish?. Stupidly, I agreed and paid him because he acted like a pretty stand up guy. Of course the next day came and went and no Shane so a few days later I called. He was very apologetic and said he would be by on 5-23 or 5-24. Again he never showed. A day or 2 later he called but said he meant to call someone else and when I asked if he was still coming by to finish the job, he said he would be by in a day or 2 as he had other work in the area. Since then I have texted and been ignored. Amazingly, he said he wanted to bring cards to me and asked if I would leave a positive review on Google. I did not want to give him a bad review but he has left me no choice. He has had more than enough time and opportunity to make this right. Do not deal with him. Now I will have to rent a saw or pay someone else to finish Shanes work for him.

Dealing with Shane has been nothing but aggravation. He quoted me $1200 to cut 2 trees. He came out on May 24th and required a $400 deposit which was fine with me. But as soon as I paid him he said his rope wasn’t long enough and was going to go get one real quick. Well instead of getting a rope he was at my bank cashing my check. He didn’t cut a single limb and He didn’t come back that day. He promised he would be there on the following Tuesday, no call no show. Finally got him on the phone Wednesday he had another excuse and said he would be there Thursday, again no call no show. Talked to him again, and told him to refund my deposit, which he agreed to no problem. I even offered to let him cut 1 tree and I would pay him an additional $200 to help him out because he said money was tight because of the weather. It has been 4 weeks now he won’t respond to my calls or text. I was very patient with him and now I’m out $400 I didn’t want to leave a bad review but Shane Tolley is not honest. Beware if you hire him. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We hired Shane to cut 2 beech trees from the start it was a disaster. He was to be at our house at 9am, he didn’t show until 3pm. We gave him a check for the deposit. He didn’t have the correct tools with him to start the job and left to go get them. We ran into him cashing our check at our bank instead of getting what he needed to start the job. He texted later and said the place had closed early. We agreed that he could come after the weekend to start. I took off work to be home he had an excuse for not showing and said he would be here Wednesday. My husband took off work to be home there again another excuse for not showing up. We are going to the better business bureau to file a complaint because we never received our deposit back and nothing was done to the trees. We are not rich people and that deposit put us in a bad situation for getting someone else to cut the trees because they are dangerous they have torn up our roof twice already and that’s why we were having them cut. Shane is dishonest and should not be trusted. Do not give him money until he finishes the job.

Shane came out for storm damage I had Two trees that had fallen and one had hung up on my house. Him and his team got everything taken care of in a safe and timely manner! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Most Affordable quote I received by FAR! Everyone else quoted me 2000 HIGHER couldnt believe we have so many tree services in the area trying to take advantage of a elderly woman!!!! NOT Shane I will be using ONLY Him and his team and if you want an experienced tree guy dont waste your time with others. Hope this helps anyone looking to NOT be ripped off! Thanks ATC

Shane came out and cut down a large tree that was leaning over my familys house. Great guy with Superior skills! Highly recommend!

Everything started out really well with Shane. He came out and very quickly cut down the first 8 of 10 trees. The city came by and surprisingly hauled a lot of the wood away. He asked to wait til Monday to do the final two trees because of a power line. I was fine with that. He asked to be paid before the job was finished and I did pay him. The payment included cutting the trees down and removing the debris. He asked to leave a few small handfuls because he said he had to take it to elizabethton. I said that was fine but make sure it’s small and don’t leave it on my lawn. Two large piles were left on my lawn, along with large logs up the driveway, killing my grass. I called to let them know it needed to be moved and ended up moving it myself because no one showed up. That was 3 weeks ago. I’ve called probably at least a dozen times, left multiple messages. Ashley finally answered one time to tell me she left her rings here and would need to pick them up. During that phone conversation she told me that she would have him do it either that Thursday or Friday. No one showed up and there were is no phone call to let me know what was going on. I called again multiple times and now my phone immediately goes to voicemail which makes me believe he has blocked my phone number. I finally was tired of it because this has been going on for almost a month. It did not appear they were going to come and complete the job. I called and left a message telling him as much over a week ago and that since I was assuming he was not going to complete the job because he had not returned any phone calls and not gone through with his promise during certain dates to come out and complete it that I was going to have someone else complete it for me. Last night my husband left a message for him letting him know that his wife’s rings were still here and that the rest of the brush would need to be picked up per the contract. He agreed to do it. Today he has texted my husband to tell him he will be suing us unless we give him $500 for the stumps that he never showed up to complete. This job was started September 4 and a contract was made September 5. Today is October 4 and we are still waiting. Two enormous piles of debris are in my yard and the city won’t touch it. I am left to rent a truck and clean it up myself. Some of these logs are huge. I am filing a police report tomorrow. We paid him and he didn’t do the job.
