Seemed like a nice facility with nice staff, but the schedule for adults is a little ridiculous if you work. Are you saying the officers and veterans are too good to let me train in their presence when Im willing to pay? Silly
Very welcoming to new folks, I walked in with absolutely zero martial arts experience and didnt feel intimidated or out of place. The coaches and other athletes were patient and instructive, really happy with my decision to join.
Good people. Good training. Lots of experience in the sport. Love it.
I started taking classes back in 2017 with a desire to self defend myself for any future situations. I travel a lot around the world dancing so it was important to me then to know how to protect myself. now I am teaching stretching and conditioning classes here to a community that I consider family. I highly recommend this place not only for getting into shape but joining a tribe of really amazing people that each have very beautiful stories to share.
Great place to get kids of all ages involved in martial arts! Here is why:1) the gym is large! There are many components of fitness that are used. Cardio, footwork, balance, hitting bags or shields - many many elements that keep the kids engaged.2) the teachers are masters at keeping the kids engaged. They know all the tricks to keep attention and focus which is a real challenge with today’s kids.3) the fitness component is good but the kids are not throwing up or being hammered by the workouts. They are working hard but at a fu level. It’s appropriate for the age of the child. The staff is friendly and there is a positive culture there. You can watch the workouts from the lobby or leave and come back. With social distancing there is plenty of room on the lobby to see the class and keep distance from other parents.
Amazing place for aspiring fighters and even those that just want to stretch and work out in martial arts. Jax Muay Thai has very supportive coaches and trainers. Their championship wins make them a breeding ground for the best Muay Thai fighters nationally and internationally.Jax Muay Thai is great place for families, too. Classes for the whole family include stretching exercises and private lessons with ballerina/Muay Thai enthusiast Hilly, training one-on-one with Coach Giles, sparring with fighters Omar and Austin, etc.Check them out and have fun getting skilled in Muay Thai!
One of the best places in Jacksonville to get the real Muay Thai Training. Khru Giles has over 20 years of experience teaching martial artists and fighters. His students and fight team are awesome to train with. There are no egos in that gym. The kids program is amazing and the kids have a blast training. The facility has everything you need like ring, heavy bags, weight room, turf grass in the back to for sprints and sled work and most importantly clean working bathrooms with showers. I highly recommend coming here.
I started one year ago at JMT with zero experience. I had multiple lower back injuries coming in and was unsure how much I could take. With diligent stretching and strengthening of legs, hips and core that comes with training I am better off than when I began. When you take classes here you’re learning at all levels from experienced fighters. Best competitive Muay Thai gym in town.
I cant say enough about this gym! The whole family has been going for over a year and it has been awesome. We have kids ages 4, 7, & 15. The younger ones attend the kids classes and our 15 yr old daughter trains with us. My wife was never a fan of working out but she loves it. Both Kru Giles & Brandon are great teachers & coaches and everyone is made to feel welcome regardless of skill level.
Kru Giles and the JMT crew are amazing. There’s so much knowledge here. If you’re looking for an authentic Muay Thai experience, this is the place. I’ve lived in Jacksonville for about a year and JMT has been the absolute highlight.
Excellent gym excellent instructors. You get what you put in. If you want to learn authentic Muay Thai and get a great workout this is the place for you.
This place is horrible. Came in for a scheduled introduction session and was made to wait for over an hour because the instructor forgot. The gloves they gave me to work with were all sweaty and nasty. Instructor also seemed disinterested and unenthusiastic about teaching anything. Overall a terrible experience
Good variety of classes, experienced instructors, great people and awesome vibe. Love it there!
Hands down - Best striking gym in Jax. My only regret is living 45 rush hour minutes away in Riverside. Please open a sister location here!
Ive been training here off an on for a little over a year now. Ive had the privilege to train in Thailand, and Jax Muay Thai is the closest youll get to train authentic Muay Thai in Jacksonville. Kru Giles and Brandon are great and they really work on the technical aspects of the art which is one of the reasons I like it there. Everyone that trains there is personable and friendly which makes for a close nit/family like atmosphere.
Best club to train in town. Try it once and you will be hooked. Kru Giles and Brandon are encouraging, supportive and amazing teachers!
Jax Muay Thai is the best place on the first coast so far thats solely dedicated to teaching muay thai. They also have Coach Nate Campbell as the resident boxing coach so if youre looking to really improve your striking, this place is it.
Really hot gym, went there for a fight and left before it started because it was so hot. Owner said he’d give me back the money on my credit card, never happened.
I have Been coming to JMT for years and Giles is more than just a coach but a dedicated mentor who has only helped developed my passion for martial arts and combat sports even more than when I started at 10 years old. Along with such a great instructor, the atmosphere at JMT is unlike any other gym and/or martial arts school I’ve trained at; it’s completely non ego and puts an emphasis on humbling yourself and respecting everyone’s background and the reasons why each people come to train. JMT is a place where people can feel part of a family while learning a lot about themselves and what they’re capable of. JMT is also a very traditional gym where we learn about the culture surrounding Muay Thai and the value it has in improving your everyday life. I could go on, but you should definitely come by and check it out for yourself!
You couldnt ask for a better group of people, and instructors to train with. Whether you are a beginner, or have trained all your life, you will love this gym!! Learn REAL Muay Thai, as is is taught in Thailand!!
Very friendly place, awesome people. You always feel welcome. If you want to work out or discover Thai Boxing, this is the place.I highly recommand it.
