This is a must visit in Jacksonville. The atmosphere is amazing and really gives off big city vibes. I went on a piano show night and the performance was great. Compliments to whoever designed the lighting concept as well. This will be a place I frequent often!
Amazing atmosphere. There’s nothing like it here. I’ve lived here 8 years and FINALLY a place that Jacksonville deserves. The lights, the music, the class, it’s unmatched. Will be back again and again. Had so much fun.
Went for the soft opening and so much fun! Great atmosphere and the staff was super friendly. Cant wait to go again!!
Such a fun, friendly environment! Staff is great, drinks are amazing, and the entertainment is out of this world! 10 out of 10 recommend!
Its always great seeing bands in a small venue, and legends such as Black Label Society are the best! The beer prices are high, but thats Jacksonville for you.If you found this review helpful, please let me know by liking it. The more likes I receive, the more Ill review places I travel around the world. I try to do the best I can with taking about pictures.
Sure to be my new favorite spot! Good music! Good vibes!
Beautiful venue, great music, can’t wait for grand opening
Jacksonville’s premier nightlife. Great atmosphere!
This venue used to be a country line dancing club. It has now been converted into a live music venue. Its definitely on the smaller side, which I like because shows are more intimate. Several bars inside for any kind of drink you can imagine. The sound is pretty darn good and the lights are phenomenal! Overall I highly recommend checking out a show if youre nearby.
Bomb a@@ Concerts always. Met Jon Langston just chilling before the Concert and hes down to earth. Always a good time at Tarheel Opry House.
Security on multiple occasions made myself and two friends feel unwelcomed at the venue. Was there last year and the security seemed much more relaxed. Myself and my friends are older and very chill. Not really sure why they felt the need to keep harassing the three of us. One thing security should have been concerned about was allowing an infant into the venue. Loud music can be detrimental to such small ears! I advise you check the priorities of the security whom manages this establishment. Great venue but securities priorities are unjustified!
Fun place to see an old school, rowdy rock and roll show. I saw Blue Oyster Cult there. It was a lot of fun.
I had a great time here and the staff helped out my friend who almost passed out and were very caring and compassionate. Only issue I had was one of the security guards were very rude but I guess what security guard isnt and the bathrooms need to have more stalls I feel like. I loved the environment and enjoyed the show overall.
The night that I was there was for my wifes first concert. Needless to say, I apologized to her and said I would make it up. We got inside and imediatly started sweating. When we asked if they could turn the fans on, we got a reply of theyre broken. All the fans were unplugged and I find it hard to believe all the fans were broken. It was easily 85-90 degrees inside. Not to mention each band was complaining about the heat as well. They probably kept it that hot so you would go by more of the outrageously prices drinks. Sound quality was horrible as well. 2 bands lost microphones in the middle of their set. The last band let getting horrible mic feedback. Went to leave early to beat traffic and actually sat outside listening to the band cause it was easier to understand across the street than inside. Overall, I will never go back again.
My wife is disabled and uses a walker to get around. I cant say enough positive things about the management and staff. From the owner, to security, to the wait staff. Each and everyone made our rare night out at a great show an evening to remember. Thank you all!
Love, love, LOVE this place! Ive attended 3 metal shows at The Tarheel within the last year or so and my experience here has been fantastic every time. The sound is always great, the dance floor is small and intimate but not overly so, and the alcohol prices are super reasonable. Im always checking their Facebook page to see what shows are coming up, and the range and quality of the talent they book are pretty amazing, especially considering that I only have to drive around 30 minutes to get there, as opposed to the hours that I would have to trek to get to the larger venues in Charlotte, Raleigh, etc. I have never left The Tarheel disappointed.
Unassuming music venue but much larger inside than it would appear. Rather hot in the summer though, varied venue with variety of seating and some near bars if the music is all that matters. Bit of a pool table room that is somewhat vacant during big events save the bar seating given my experience. All in all, more than it appears but outside operations need to improve, there wasnt a reason to keep people out like they did.
Great place for shows! Have seen 3 concerts here now and they all sounded great and the staff was courteous and professional.
The show was awesome but I was really impressed with the venue and staff. I will be watching more closely to the shows playing there now.
Amazing! Saw Puddle of Mudd and I was right at the side of the stage the entire night! I enjoyed very much and will return again. This is an excellent place to hear great bands and friendly staff and owner! Great customer service
Have seen a few concerts here now and they do a great job. love that they have multiple beverage counters (bars) an outdoor smoking area, pool tables, area to set up band merch, good sound quality, nice amount of space inside and out.
This was my first visit and I was there to see Colt Ford in concert. The place was nice but had very little seating. Plan to stand for hours! Staff was friendly but they had more security (bouncers) than they had waitresses. My waitress was very friendly and checked with me often to see if I needed anything. They need more restrooms and the ones they have are very cramped. Overall a good experience.
A big venue for Jville. Ive had lots of fun at shows here. (ICP and Attila was the best!!) Drinks arent too pricey but cheap concert tickets make up for it anyways. Has a few pool tables. Outdoor smoking area and bar. Thanks Tarheel!
Went last night for the first time to take my young son to see charlie daniels. I thought the place was great and the owners and staff were extra nice folks. We really enjoyed the experience!
Best concert venue in all of onslow county. Love the family who owns this also very good people!
This place thinks they are something special. Bouncers at the door had attitudes, $8 for a well drink and $3 for a bottle of water...bullsh!t. First time and last time here. Not worth it. Ticket prices for the bands playing are a little high as well. Can stand next to the VIP booths unless youre going to pay extra. This place is just like our POS government, gotta pay to sit or stand in a certain area and because youre in their building and have no choice they over charge for everything. This place sucks.
I had a great experience here. Its a good place to see a show and drink.
I was having a medical emergency and the manager was more concerned with not letting anyone in because of sound checks (which were delayed, entry delayed by almost 2 hours). They corralled us to the patio aka smoking section. Having severe breathing disability I had my medical equipment with me but needed electricity. I was only let in to use an outlet after pleading for about 10 minutes then requesting an ambulance. I was surrounded by cigarette smoke for what seemed like an eternity, 2 hours. Horrible experience! Staff should be more compassionate to disabled patrons and actually LISTEN to someone having a medical emergency. *update....2 weeks later......you asked for productive criticism and I never got a response. Very disappointed....an apology and possible response to do better in the future would have been nice. :-(
Loved seeing Tyler Farr in concert. Great place.
The second star is only because it is a music venue we can see shows at. As far as customer service we were pacefully drinking beer all night and when we go to pay there are liquor drinks on our tab we did not order, when we confronted the Bar tender we were treated as there was nothing they could do, so then i escalate to management and I have never dealt with someone so rude. The lady that assisted us came off like we were liars and they had to launch an investigation into questioning bartenders. At this point my wife and I have missed half the show we came to for our anniversary and have reached ultimate sobriety fighting over a mistake that the establishment made and did not want to own up to. I hardly EVER write reviews but occasions such as this need to be voiced. If you take anything away from this and still choose to go there, bring cash and pay for each drink rather than letting them run up fake tabs and waist half your time at the show trying to close out. And to top it all off when I voiced my concerns on their Facebook page they blocked me to silence this story.
An amazing venue. Awesome staff. They have greats shows to where you dont have to drive 2 hours away (to Raleigh). 💞
Wont be visiting this place again, and it doesnt matter who will be playing! My daughter was told by staff where she had to park, due to a large crowd at an event on Friday, April 19th. When she tried to leave, her vehicle got stuck in the mud. She pleaded with the staff for help. Not only did they refuse to help her, they left her there late at night by herself, while she waited for Triple AAA to arrive. Even their employee was astonished that no one would help, or stay until they arrived. Fortunately, she was unharmed, just scared, and upset. Never again will any family member of mine spend our hard earned money to support this callous crew.
Great artist lineup! Just need to fix their A/C system. Everyone was dripping with sweat when they left.
Great venue, also I really like that they sell Liquid Death canned water. Weird comment, but still.
Another high energy show with Michael Ray. (My 14th time seeing him at smaller venues between FL and NC) Not only is he talented, but love the way he interacts with the audience,. Theres a small town home feeling everytime I drive from Raleigh, NC to see a show there. Great time!!
Do yourself a favor and dont spend money to come see an artist. You pay 100.00 for VIP and spend the first 2 hrs listening to a cover band and the last hr and a half listening to the artist? Definitely not worth the 3 hr drive to see someone as popular as Ryan Upchurch. I really hope he had nothing to do with this because I am one if his biggest fans. Pretty sad when the Cupid shuffle has more action than the show, lol
Great place for a concert or a show. Good seating everywhere and reasonable pricing.
Decent venue. I like that it had 3 bars and one of them is in the smoking area. Saw Yelawolf here and I was very happy.
They really stepped up and made this a good venue for jville
Awesome lil hall great people really close to the show . Mostly standing room. Keep up the great work
The new owner has spent a lot of money to update the place and I am the resident DJ and sound tech for bands. We are having a national act at least every 2 weeks so check out the website to find out who is coming and when. We have the best sound system and the biggest dance floor and the coldest drinks in eastern NC.
Saw Upchurch and it was amazing!!! Too small of a place with that many people. Hot as hell!! Great show but way too small.
Im handicapped. Had a great seat for show. Staff very professional and curtious. Atmosphere friendly. Had one of the best nights of my life!
Nice clean venue, had an awesome time watching Buckcherry, would attend another show again in the future
Came back a few days ago after 32 years! Met my husband here when he asked me to dance in 1985. Impressed with the renovated interior but preferred it when it was a country bar. The main act never showed up and was not our type of music. We went in for the memories. Staff wonderful, atmosphere, the best Ive seen! Music...meh. So few people showed up, the Jelly Roll (didnt even show) Struggle Jenni gs show. Glad we didnt pay for premium seats. Waitstaff had nothing to do. Would have loved to dance to old Country. Still married to my Marine who asked me to dance Nov. 1985. We have always loved The Tarheel. We have each other and our family because of it! ❤
Nice club... Very clean and pretty spacious. Great venue too!
Great place to go and have a good time, hear some good music, and meet some great people.
Great experience. They always have amazing bands playing, both small time and big.
Its a little slow some weekends but its a great time. Lots of line dancing two step and swing. Theres a billiards section and all the staff were amazing
Great club, great atmosphere!! We played there on March 2nd and were treated extremely well by staff and crowd! Incredible hospitality!! We hope to be back soon!!-BATTERY MASTERS OF METALLICA
Had a great time here during a concert. Had upgraded seating and service - I certainly enjoyed the service, music and drinks
Love this place I have been going here since 2004 and now I work for them
Bartenders didnt know what they were doing. Couldnt make a martini or cosmopolitan. Beer was warm! Total cost for 2 beers & 2 shots 16$. Couldnt even play a game of pool because the 8 ball was MIA on 2 of the 4 tables.. & to top it all only 4 balls came out to begin with and we were told to get what we needed out of a basket, seriously customer service suxxx.
Carlos was hilarious ! ! ! GREAT SEATS, AND RENOVATIONS ARE NICE. Cant wait for next comedian.
First time here...out in the sticks but well worth the drive
Miss the Country Music all week long. Was a good place to unwind. Guss is EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL ALL THE TIME!
Not a bad place for a concert . Hot as a mofo inside .
Theyve been getting a lot of good bands/singers lately.
We abdolutely love this place. The staff is friendly and drink service is great. Us girls will be coming here alot
Miss my favorite country bar but do enjoy the variety of bands they have coming in to play there. Dont really like standing up the whole time though.
Great venue. Good drink a and awesome sound system
Newly remodeled. Had a great time at the Demun Jones show.
I think this is a really nice lounge, but I do think some of the support beams are really awkward during concerts. Overall, a very nice bar but their bar service is kinda slow too.
This could be a really great place if the staff were all on the same page. Attended the Michael Ray concert last night, Im still not sure why the time for door opening changed 3 times in one day, but whatever. The event page said that cameras were allowed as long as they werent professional. So, I had a simple point and shoot camera. I asked 3 different event/security before going in if I was good, all 3 said yes. I had NO problem during opening act. Even made pics next to security. Just before Michael Ray came on, a security very rudely hollered at me to put it up. I asked why as it wasnt a professional camera, once again he yells above the music to put it up. Then he spent quite a bit more time glaring at me from the bar area. So, I was made to put up a camera, while all around me people were on cell phones taking pics, recording vids, live on Facebook and Instagram, and uploading to Snapchat. Sorry, but when youre standing front row, a cell phone is almost better than a camera. (And dont try and say artists choice on camera. He doesnt have a policy.)
Great beer specials, amazing owner & staff. The place looks so great! Wednesday 1.00 BEER
I drove from Wilmington a couple of weeks ago with my son to see JJ Grey and Mofro and Blackberry Smoke. The heat was awful. AC could not come close to keeping up (and the place was not sold out). I saw one older gentlemen visibly having issues with the heat. I noticed a staff member just staring at the man until another patron came over to assist. On the dance floor there were many fans in the ceiling that were all turned off. I asked one of the staff and they told me they turned them off to have enough electricity for the lights!?! Really? All in all it was an ok experience aside from the OPPRESSIVE heat (was nice to try out axe throwing down the road). I will not be coming back however.
Was really a good place to see live show up close and personal staff great
Great place to come and feel comfortable. Good people.
Confirmed with venue what time doors opened/show started. Turned away at the door and told there was a miscommunication with the artist so show delayed an hour. Come back. Get in and wait an additional hour and a half, still no show. Paid for tickets two weeks in advance at $20 a pop plus tax and fees. Will not be coming back.
1 star is way too many. Way too hot inside. Mens bathroom was broken. Had to use a port a John outside. Wont be going back
Love this bar. Great entertainment. Great people.....
Great venue and staff. Lacking on beer selection and restroom convenience.
My experience here was terrible. Drove all the way from sc to come here to see Upchurch, and the concert was over by the time i got there because i wasnt given the proper time.
1st time last night. It was cool and all....See my boyfrind drinks jack and coke... pretty much thats all he ever drinks besides beer....but he spilled his drink and they gave him another on on the house saying that it was a tequila and coke....well I taste it and that drink tasted like Malibu rum... it ruined our night... Im pretty sure you can taste the diffrance.
Amazing venue...amazing staff...Bartenders were on point!
Fun atmosphere, not really for the younger crowd. The girls in the bar are super sweet, great customer service.
So looking forward to seeing Mudfest tonight.
Cool place to see some live music, the wait at the bars for drinks is terrible tho.
Enjoyed it very respectful employees and a nice clean atmosphere
Awesome shows but not happy having sweat like a pig inside.
Had a great time here!
Loved the concertIt was so hot and they ran out of certain types of beer like the weekend before ....Also stood outside in the rain and got super soaked
Loved seeing Mushroomhead there!
Gr8 show wth George Clinton an Parliament- Funkadelic.
AWESOME PLACE TO GO FOR GREAT CONCERTS!
Great local venue for seeing concerts
Small town bar with all of the big town favorites ... love going here
