I’ve been getting the run around for the past month. Suppose to receive a call back within the time frame after applying not only to one house but four houses that was suppose to have available. Not one house I’ve applied for stated if I was approved or rejected. Whenever I have called back I’m hearing one thing or the other. I highly don’t recommend this rental company at all.

This is a review of MSR maintenance and not the company as a whole. The maintenance tech was thorough, pleasant, kind, and competent. He changed the light fixture as diagnosed a plumbing issue. He then explained what it will take to fix the plumbing issue and made a note for the best days of the week to schedule a future visit to fix the problem. His communication was perfect in that he explained things well to a person with no plumbing knowledge.

This company only refunded less than half of my deposit, for unnecessary things. They charged me for carpet cleaning, knowing I put in a maintenance request because my living room flooded and they took two days to send someone to come to my house and I even had to call them again before they sent someone. So the carpet stained and I got charged for it, even though it’s on a RECORDED line. They also charged me for water heater damages, I NEVER touched the water heater. I put in a maintenance request because my hot water stopped working out of nowhere, again I had to call them back in order to get someone to come out to my house after FOUR days of not having hot water. The man they sent probably damaged it trying to fix it. The FIRST day my lease started someone had burst my window out and broke into my home and I called the leasing agents and emailed them they never responded. I put in the maintenance request and made a police report and AFTER I did that, they sent someone to my home. But thank god I didn’t have to spend the first night there with a busted window with my four year old. Eric, nice gentleman who works for Main Street Renewal told me that kids break into the homes when they know it’s vacant and I shouldn’t have anymore problems but those kids broke the shed and I had to pay for it. My garage door was old and I needed a new one. Instead they decided they were just going to add more nails to the door to make sure it stayed attached to the hanger thing(i don’t know what it’s called), I told them it literally closed and shut me in and I couldn’t get out again, it took them two days to come out to fix it though. They also charged me $300 for painting when they have to re-paint the house to have the upkeep for the next owners. And I have pictures and videos that nothing was damaged nor were the walls written on. This company sucks and so does their maintenance. Don’t rent from them!

Youll never in your life get them to fix anything without charging you for it claiming its your fault, even if they ever come. It takes MONTHS to get basic repairs on things that are their responsibility and theyll find a way to blame you for breaking it (how did I make my AC motor go out? How did I make the freezer fan get old and break?) and charge you for the repair. One of the worst leasing company Ive know. Good luck renewing your lease too. They make it hard so they can charge the next person way more rent. Glad I moved out and into a small landlords house who actually cares about renters rights.

Shout out to MSR’s Eric, our maintenance man!! He is amazing!!! We’ve struggled a lot with help from the main office but MSR maintenance is very much appreciated! Eric NEVER complains, always wears a smile and is so personable and pleasant to be around!! He goes out of his way every time we have an issue!! Im a neighbor to one of the rental properties, Ive had multiple incidents with the tenants in that house and theyve even had SWAT called at their house, which resulted in them breaking in and arresting one of the guys living there. Ive emailed them several times with no response. Awful.

My dishwasher wouldn’t drain. All the appliances in the house are new . It took a month on figuring out who to contact. I was told it was under warranty, and to contact the manufacturer. Finally called leasing to get a maintenance man out. First call out there was instruction that a key was left, myself and 2 others were home and a note leftOn the door to ring doorbell! I was charged $100 for no key left because I was home. I’ve contacted customer service 2 times by email and 4 times by phone, first call wasn’t even documented. Was sent over to scheduling and still no response. The work order was from 3/2/21!

Horrible business!! tried to get my name off the lease so I can move to Florida and they told me I cant because of COVID, theyre not letting people break their leases that is NOT in my contract because I signed it before the corona virus even hit the US!!!!!!!! Every time I try to make something happen they ALWAYS transfer me to a new person just to make me eventually give up and they can get all their $$ and every one of their offices is closed so you cant meet with them either. WORST RENTERS EVER!!!!!!!!! Avoid B.S. Renewal at all cost!

This is probably the worse company you can go through for a home! Our experience in the beginning wasn’t bad but once it got towards the end of our lease it became horrible! My fiancé and I paid $500 for a cleaning company to come in and clean the entire house and clean all the carpets we had. That company did a great job but main street is charging us $150 for a cleaning fee?? Doesn’t make sense to me especially when we moved into the house it was actually dirty and the furnace had no filter in it or anything. Also trying to get anyone from there to respond back to is a huge job it’s self, I’ve been calling them fir 2 months now and never get a return phone call from them. Just a horrible company all around. I suggest taking your money else where unless you want to spend a lot in rent each month and then on top of that get screwed over more. We will never use their services again!!

I have been waiting on hot water since 4/1/21. They was due to come between 12-5. The person came at 11:45 and closed out the work order he never once called and said he was there nor on his way. I have lived in this house for almost 6 years. I will not be renewing my lease and if my hot water is not fixed in the next couple of hours I will be calling board of health and the news because this is unsanitary and unprofessional.

I put in a application for this company for $120 I had two others applicants under me which came out to be $40 a piece this was all of this was done on May 14th I call this company after being on hold for a our then I asked the guy that I spoke to that I wanted to check on the status of my application he told them he told me everything looked good so Monday come Tuesday come emails out the emails calls after call i didnt reach anyone so today which is Wednesday I spoke to the guy he told me that my application was still pending so he also stated that I needed to change the status of my other applicants so I he walked he walked me through the steps and after I got done I was told that the home was off the market the guy that was on the phone with me also seen this so I told him that I would like to get a full refund back because the house is off the market and why is my application still pending when there has been nothing done I think this company is a con artist and taking people money for application fee knowing that the home or house has already been rented or lease please stay away from this company they are scamming people out there money I have the proof I wish that I have read the reviews that other people posted about this company I would have never applied at all with this compan estates during the application that the $40 is non-refundable but it should be refunded if the home has been taken off the market and no communication on their end I feel like I should just get my money back 100 percentIm definitely staying away and I advise you too

This is one of the worst property management companies I have ever rented from. Its the middle of winter and we have a busted pipe. I have a 1 year old in a house with no hot water and they dont seem to care at all. They pretty much waited until we paid rent to even start repairs so its been almost two weeks since we put in a maintenance request. TWO WEEKS WITH NO HOT WATER IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER!. I cant wait until my lease is up so that I can get out of here. If youre looking to rent, keep looking. This place is trash.

PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!! Everything started off great but then bad came. Every time we had an issue and called for maintenance the people that they sent were rude and trashy. Also now they are no renewing my lease because the owner wants to do some “REMODELING “. So now I been emailing multiple people trying to figure out what’s the next step with finding a new place. I have yet to receive a response. Here it is in the middle of a pandemic and I am about to be homeless with small children. These people do not care about you or your family just your money.

This company is a disgrace! They don’t consider their tenants as a priority. The homes appear to be beautiful but upon moving in that’s when all the issues will unfold. Well at least that is my family and I have been experiencing. With in the first few hours of being in our new home my less than 30lbs 3 year old was injured due to the improper installation of a banister which fell completely out the wall when she was walking up the stairs. The banister fell out the wall because it was places in sheet rack and my baby fell down the stairs and busted her chin. One of my bathrooms has a leak. There are insects everywhere and my chandelier is about to fall out the ceiling . Outlets don’t work in the house and a plethora of other serious issues including me being stuck in the house with no food and I can’t get my baby to the pediatrician because the garage doors are broken and the clicker won’t work! I was told these things are not considered an emergency. The heat didn’t even work upon moving in. I’m so disappointed.

We have lived in this home almost 2 years. We have had multiple problems with the furnace. We have no heat and when I called emergency maintenance they told me I have to wait 2 business days before they will even send anybody out. I have a small child at home and its below freezing outside. We have had to replace 2 electrical outlets because they almost caught the house on fire. Luckily we were home and smelled something burning or the house would of been on fire. When we moved in the railing going upstairs is not installed right and its loose. And still havent fixed. So its only a matter of time before someone gets hurt. Do not rent from this company!! They do not care!!

I have lived in one of their properties for over a year now. I have had nothing but issues from the day I signed my lease. It has been one thing after another from maintenance personnel, hidden fees, poor overall home/lot. Cant depend on anyone to get things done. Yes they have a local office but everytime you call them its something that needs to go to their Texas office. That is an even worse way to try to get a problem fixed. They send you from one department to another and never handle your issue. Now that I am doing a review trying to keep others from making same mistake Will from branding will leave me a response saying we are sorry to hear about your issues. Property has served its purpose for renting. Much like any large property management, they are not proactive to check properties. However, they have been reasonable on repairs as reported. Only major disappointment is that they increase the rent every year...I hate that!!!

I have been renting with Main Street Renewal for over 2 years. This has been the most positive experience that I have ever had. I have not rented since I was a teenager so, I was not sure what to expect. I have been pleased with everything from the move in until we just submitted our move out. I am building a new home and had a delay in moving at the last minute. In just 1 single phone call, I had a very caring and understanding person on the phone that took care of our timing problem and sent me a confirmation email immediately. Looking back at the decision to rent, the people that we worked with in the leasing office and finally, the support staff throughout the process made this a delightful experience all the way around. Main Street really takes care of the homes that they are renting so that when you come in, barring some unforeseen issue, you can expect to have a home that is clean, smells great and one that you will be proud to call home. Thank you all for 2 great years and I highly recommend that they look to you first if they want to have a great renting experience.

I just wanna say that MSR has been very attentive every step of the way with the home rental process. They are very prompt to respond to any questions or concerns you may have. Teresa basically took our hand and helped us every step of the way and Donna has done an amazing job at guiding us in the last steps of the process such as acquiring the keys, checking out the homes condition, etc. Eric was the tech that was present during the home walk through and he was also very helpful, he really wanted to make sure he could answer any questions and was thorough with the inspection. Thank you to the staff of Main Street Renewal for making our move easy and pleasant.

WARNING!!!! Future applicant beware!!!! BAIT AND SWITCH!!! You excitedly apply for a property only to find out that another applicant beat you to it. They’d love to have you as a tenant, only problem is that their other offerings will be crappy or more expensive properties, no where similar to the one that you applied for. This is what happened to us. They lured us to fill application; contacted us at least three times in December. We were being cautious because the same thing had happened to us with another property management company before, and even obtained assurance that no one else was interested in the property, before filling the application.Their agent Teresa Lents’ was cold and ruthless in the way she nicely co-ordinated with us through the application process, obviously while at the same time, she or someone else in the office processed our application together with that of another applicant for the same property (assuming that there was another applicant). Her curt and sneering tone came out when she informed us that indeed despite assurances, they had approved someone else shortly before us, and that we could transfer our application to a list of other properties, that of course were nowhere comparable to the one we applied for, and to be honest, appeared to be the plan all along.Protect yourself. The kicker is they get to keep your application fee (surprise!! It’s in the fine print) and now you have a hard credit hit on your record which will lower your score.Your option is take whatever crappy lease they can coerce you into, or cut your losses and move on, hopefully you will not be in a desperate situation to be taken advantage of using this deceptive, immoral practice.. I wonder how many people have had this happen to them.

Even though he was sent to just check that problem, he proceeded to find out if there was anything at all he could help us with besides that? My entire tenancy with this company has been one thing after the other. From no working air in 100 degree weather to no hot water for a month, and a gas leak that was not treated as though it was an emergency. I was told sorry for the inconvenience, well have someone call you back. This is beyond poor service. This is negligent behavior and slum lordary.

We have had several issues with this company, the main 1 is the heating after 8 techs tried to find the issue only 1 from bedell heat&cool found he several filters in the bottom of the furnace.Now they charging us a $1000 . Why didnt the other companies find this ?????.The furnance for a special filter online only cost $30. The last tech from home pro stated he changed it cause it was wet. And found no issues. Its not our fault the filters were in bottom of the furnance may from the previous renters. Are we being charged for the several times the techs came out ???then on the the portal $1000 shows up we are barely working an cant afford this.If you rent from this company check your furnance for hidden issues.We WILL NOT BE RENEWING OUR LEASE WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! The service tech you have out today, Eric, is much more professional and is genuinely one of the best maintenance men I have met- not just here but in over a decade of renting.I did want to reach out and let you know what an outstanding member you have on your team. I asked for his name and started to send this, and he was so thankful.He said he wanted to make our stay better and was sorry for the issues we had.He really put the personal touch on our whole time here that we have been missing.It was nice to actually be treated like someone who works hard for their money, and wanted us to enjoy what we spend it on.I was promised a new door would be ordered and delivered today, but he said he had stuff in his truck that he would try to fix the current door before having someone else come out. He didn’t complain, talk poorly of your company, but reassured us that we would be taken care of from here.I work with patients all day, and always try to go above and beyond for their care, and Eric does this in his line of work here. Very pleased.I went from wanting to break my lease, to feeling confident that there ARE people in this business that aren’t just in it for my final dollar.

I dont post many reviews, but Main Street Renewal has been great to us compared to other big rental companies. Anytime we have had to have maintenance come out, it never took them long to reach out to us. Eric fixed a small issue we had with an appliance and asked if there was anything else we needed looked at; we didnt but it was nice of him to offer. The fact that he is a manager made it even better, not a lot of higher up people will come & do small maintenance requests. We had another gentleman come out a few weeks prior to look at our HVAC and was very friendly and quick. Im impressed with the customer service.

I have lived at one of their rental houses for almost a year now. Before I moved in, the leasing office was quick to answer my questions and to send me a lease. I am not one to complain or contact the office over every little problem. So the leasing experience was fine until I had to get actual help and answers from the office. I have been charged with not having renters insurance for the past several months even though I have it and have proved that I have it several times. Yet no adjustments have been made about that reoccurring charge. I am also attempting to renew my lease. I have been working with the Area Manager, Anthony Dilts, for just over two weeks in an attempt to make this happen. I still have not received a renewal lease. A week ago I asked him to confirm that the rent price would be remaining the same, and his only response has been, Let me reach back out to renewals to find out what the rent reate will be. This has been a frustrating process that I wish I didnt have to go through.

Its been a good place to live. Generally they have been responsive to maintenance issues. When dealing with being a renter that is the most important issue. Our home is a little older, maybe twenty years or so. Several things have happened within a short time. Nothing abnormal, but the dishwasher and water heater in the same month. That sort of thing. These issues were taken care of in a timely manner. The dishwasher took a little longer but we got a new one and it was not an issue.

I have been in my home for four years now. I have enjoyed the stay in this house with my family. The property is in a great location for school for my child. I have plenty of parking space for family and friends. I just want you to come and check out your house now. Noone has never fix certain issues with the house and now I am ready to move in something that I can buy. They will tell you one thing to get you in the home, but once in all things changes. But the house is on a nice street. The neighbors are great people. I wanted to buy the house. Sale me this house please 😩 😫

I absolutely love Main Street. I love our house and scheduling maintenance is a breeze. Ive always had my issues resolved quickly and efficiently. Eric Whetsel is amazing at what he does. He has quickly fixed any issue Ive had. He takes the time to explain whats going on and works really hard to get issues quickly resolved. Ive lived in my home for over 3 years and its truly been a great experience. Ive worked with most of the bigger Indy rental companies, as Ive been a renter in the city for the last 14 years. I can tell you hands down that Main Street is the best. They keep their properties well maintained, so I highly recommend.

Beware of This company is horrible, they bought the property that I have been living in for 3 years from my landlord, as tenants we did not know the property was for sale, and we received a letter in the mail from Main Street Renewal stating that they’re the new owners of the property and they wanted us to move out by 3/31/20, that gives us no time to look for a home or even save up a deposit for another home. So I called the number on the letter because I thought it was a joke and it is a real letter telling us we had to move by 3/31/20 because they are the new owners the property now, The man on the phone proceeds to tell me well you can put in an application for one of our newer homes but we have to run your credit again and you have to pay another deposit for this house, so I said what about my deposit for the current home I’m in why can’t you guys transfer that deposit and why run my credit again Just transferred my lease to another home... So now we are about to be homeless at the end of 3/31/20

Today Eric came out and fixed my issue with the home’s dishwasher as well as remedy past servicemen’s work. Eric also put in a service order for the sink facet that was not in working order. Horrible experience! I wish there was No Star Rating. I wouldn’t even put a star on here. Literally put me and my toddler out with two days eviction notice in middle of October. Do Not Rent from THEM! Me and my toddler moved in in June. I paid the deposit and the first month rent over three thousand dollars. Living room whole window was missing wide open they tried to seal it with a cut up DOOR. I called told them the window needs to be replaced ASAP because I am single mother of a four year old. It took them a whole two weeks to come fix it. I was literally sleeping with my son with wide open window!!! I was scared that somebody will jump in. They never cared or showed any type of concern. Then eventually slowly everything in the house started to fall apart. They make sure the house looks good just by painting and put some marble tops in the kitchen but they never fixed the important maintenance stuff in the house. Kitchen sink started to fall apart, refrigerator stopped working, walking closet whole rack fell off, furnace stopped working, stove doesn’t even heat up to cook a steak! Now they are putting me and my toddler out with two days eviction notice!! Because I was late on my rent due to externship ( requires from my school, 2 months free work training) I was a little behind but I came out with my rent, they denied to take the money order and sent me to court. And now they’re telling me to move out on two days! They kept my deposit and my money for the rent and just literally put me and my son out in the street middle of October. They just want your money...they don’t care about their tenants at all. Will never recommend to nobody. Looking forward to sue their company for pain and suffering.

My serviceman came 2 days early for an A/C call. The house was not cooling. I can’t stress enough how wonderful it was to see him early. He was polite and very friendly. He got right on the problem and got us taken care of. I really felt like he cared. Glad to know there are still people like that out there. Thank you Eric!!

MSR has been good to me and my fiancé so far. Our application got approved in less than 24 hours and we were contacted immediately to inform us with the next steps! We got our move in date very quickly after being approved! Teresa is awesome and so patient! I had so many questions for her and she never seemed irritated, always so helpful! Donna has been great too with responding very quickly and communicating with me about our inspection day and what to be expected. We haven’t moved in yet but the process so far has been great!

I’ve been renting with Renewal for a couple of months now and so far I have no complaints at all! We have had very little issues with the house my family and I rent and the minor maintenance requests that I had were quickly and efficiently handled. My point of Contact, Donna, has been very prompt when responding to emails with questions I’ve had, and the Maintenance Tech, Eric, has been incredibly responsive with the minor issues I’ve had so far. Eric has been by the house a couple of times now to see about some very minor maintenance issues (probably stuff I could have done but I’m mechanically challenged! LOL). All in all, a very positive experience with Renewal and their team. Special thanks to Donna and Eric!

If I could rate this place with negative stars, I would. The staff are beyond rude. I can’t imagine the possibility of dealing with a more rude and unprofessional company. I’ve lived in many locations and was beyond unprepared for the disappointment that this company has provided. Do not rent from this company if you are looking for a good experience!!!!!!

I have been renting with Main Street Renewal for a little for a year now and my experience has been very nice!It was quite a bit of running around and paper work in order to get our hands on the house keys, but I would expect that since its a real house and they need to do their due diligence before handing it over! You have to get a cashiers check in order to make your first couple payments to reserve the house; that process was entirely new to me so I struggled a bit there. But once that was done, i have used the online portal to auto-pay my rent ever since! Never have missed a bill because of the awesome online features they have.A lot of the other rental places we toured felt very cheap, but MS Renewal houses have real countertops and tile flooring. We just finally felt like we found a home to live in rather than being another renter.We will keep renting from them until we can buy one of our own in a couple years. I highly recommend them if youre wanting to get out of that dreaded apartment life and actually have a house to yourself!I also posted this same review on Yelp, but wanted to share here as well!

We wasted gas twice over the weekend due to workers calling when they were at the house so we had to stop what we were doing to come meet them to find out in bout cases the one main note we are leaving on work orders is not being given to these contractors.Issues within a week of moving in 7/291. Trees and bushes look to have not been trimmed all summer.2. Master bathtub leaking even when turned off.3. Stair rails not fixed after this was mentioned before move in.4. Loft blinds broken.5. Hot water was not functioning at all Friday evening.1. Maintenance told me 8/5 that he would get someone out that week to trim them. (Which should have been done prior to moving in.) Some finally came a partially trimmed around the house somewhere between 8/14-8/16.2. The leaking shower facet was finally fixed 8/6. Yet again causing me to take time off of work to come home for something that should have been covered during the inspection.3. I was told the rails would be fixed prior to move in and still the same. Not a major issue so we will just list this on our move in review.4. George replaced these 8/55. Made an emergency maintenance request and was told Antonio would set something up and give us a call. Didn’t hear anything that night meaning we could not shower. (Very upsetting) Sinead called back Saturday and spoke to Antonio and was told he would send someone out right away. Didn’t hear anything again until someone called from South Carolina to say they received the work order and didn’t have anyone in Indy to do the work. The man for the leaking facet came out and offered to check the hot water to help us out. Upon inspection he noticed that the breaker kept jumping off. After several tries he got it to stay on and requested for an electrician to come out to check the wiring. The electrician said “wiring was fine which normally mean the element is going bad.” (Praying this is not the case for the fear that this would leave us with no hot water for days)Somehow Donna seemed to be unaware of our issues when she was tagged in the email. When we did receive responses she would not respond to all concerns that we addressed.Overall we love the home but honestly feel that the attention to detail during inspection (if there was an inspection at all) was lacking to say the least.From a business perspective I just don’t understand how would your company be okay with treating new residents like this. Makes us both very worried about future issues in the home as we have little faith in the timeliness and manner in which repairs will be handled.Unfortunately, with our experience during move in I am looking forward to finishing this lease so I can not have to deal with MSR ever again.

This company is sub-par. I lived in one of their houses on the far East side for around two years. We took great care of the house and did the majority of the checklist for moving out. We as renters had to pay over $220 to have the carpet cleaned when moving out, which we were actually fine with. What we werent fine with though was that they ended up charging us over $430 of our security deposit for a couple of minor holes in the wall that could be fixed for less than $10 in total.Also, our stove was supposed to be replaced in the home over a year ago due to a knob that didnt work correctly. We constantly had the risk of a gas leak in our home while living there, which is extremely dangerous I may add. And lastly, last year during the hottest part of the summer, 95 degrees + outside, our air conditioning unit went out and they waited over 2 weeks before sending a repairman. Anything to save a dollar! Where Im from, this type of service is unacceptable.

Ive filled out almost 4 work orders for a broken gate thats 2 months past the initial incident. And all Main street says is we will get you an update or have the vendor reach out to you since Im not allowed to fix the gate myself, I have to hope my dog doesnt go out and run towards a squirrel in the road, and get hit by a car.

Eric from MSR came to our house to look at our dishwasher which has been giving us trouble since we moved in. The upper drawer had fallen off its track since it was tied together with twisty ties which was causing it to have a hard time closing. I believe over time this caused the rollers to break. He asked me if there were any other issues with the dishwasher and I showed him other issues we had with the dishwasher draining, etc. Eric showed great customer service and technical skills and was able to identify that the dishwasher needed replaced. I was grateful that finally someone was able to listen and resolve the issue at hand. MSR is lucky to have him as an employee.
