I love these apartments! I’m on my third year living here. The maintenance team is awesome and always easy to contact. Management team is good too, and you don’t hear often positive things about. Its really quite too.
The apartments are really nice but for what we pay I feel like the kitchen should have updated appliances
I’ve been living over in Summerwood for 3 years and from Management to the staff are the best. I’m very happy living here and would recommend this property. Management makes sure the property is maintained and safe. I give them 5 stars ⭐️
WONDERFUL OFFICE STAFF!!!Over Christmas I had many packages and the staff went above and beyond to ensure my items were safe. Its nice to live in a community where the standards are upheld! I follow my lease agreement therefore I expect the office to abide as well, and that is what keeps this property so nice! Any repairs I have needed were always taken care of in a timely manner as well. Kudos to Summerwood!
We just moved in about a month ago, we absolutely love our apartment.
My mom Just moved from 2620 baneberry And They have Roaches. the neighbors are filthy They keep trash out for days And the Trash people always leaves it And I believe they are the reason I had roaches. The man at the front desk (Thomas) so rude He stated He couldn’t offer my elderly Mother who’s on a walker A different apartment He suggested Moving out Because they have Pest control *** they come in your house and spray and you never see the people return*** Avoid these Apartments If you can Unless you like bugs I saved myself the hassle and moved out
I have been a resident of Summerwood for a few months now, I have to say that it is a great community! Very clean and quiet! I definitely love living here! I plan on being here for a while!
I have been in my apartment about 5 months now and I am loving it!! the office staff was superb during my application and move in. I did have to call maintenance out for a small repair. Lewis came in to help and was very professional and courteous.
So true, these apartments are TRASH I have even reached out to the Health Dpt.Any good reviews on this apartment came from residents that live here with no standards.
Tows your vehicle overnight. My car got hit while being taken on a test drive; waiting for it to be fixed.I’m in a RENTAL. The apartments towed the RENTAL overnight because it didn’t have a sticker.. or a “pass”.. the office wasn’t even open the night I got the rental; yet they want to just apologize and still stick you with the $150 bill. They don’t event warn you! You walk out for work the next morning and it’s gone. I JUST got that rental! The next day I think it’s stolen!
The WORSE apartment complex in Indianapolis! Trash, debri, mattresses, etc will daily great you at front entrance! Manager will illegally keep portion of your deposit upon moving out! Check your refund carefully, they illegally apply false utility fees to reduce the deposit refund! This place is HORRIBLE!!!!
My time @ Summerwood is and great the staff is very friendly and awesome!!!!
The management is horrible it’s been almost 3 months since my refund deposit was supposed to be sent to me and I still have not received it. The manager Holly ignores you and try and avoid your calls and pretty much lying about not receiving the check.. I had her have the check mail to the office where she at and it’s been two weeks, I don’t care how bad COVID is I have sent mail to Texas to my God daughter and she got in 3 days . So how something mailed in the same city and state take a month. Just pure BS with there out dated Kitchen appliance but they want to charge you that high rent, that’s why I left $1100.00 a month.. please it should be $650.00 a month.
Its sad, I enjoyed living there for 2 years. I am still waiting on my deposit. In the past I have always gotten my deposits within 2 weeks. Its been well over a month, going on 2 months. I contacted the office, and was told it comes from the corporate office, and it was on its way. I wonder if this is the norm, has there been issues with getting your deposit back..as of today, still no deposit. So corporate, where is my money. I paid rent on time, left the place in good condition. Do your part and send my deposit!!!
Moved here in 2015, it was great! Now?? All they do is collect your rent. Ive gotten NOTHING when I renew my lease. Been paying rent on time all the time. Save yourself the stress
I love these apartments! I’m on my second year living here. The maintenance team is awesome and always easy to contact. Management team is good too which you don’t hear often positive things about both teams anymore now days.
I lived at Summerwood for about 2 and a half years. A wonderful place to live. The staff is super friendly and also work orders were scheduled at a timely manner! Amelia Thomas the Property Manager had amazing service as well. I would recommend this location to anyone who is looking for a new place to live.
DO NOT MOVE HERE! There were roaches everywhere, it was filthy, tile was cracked, smelled like smoke, rust on doors, parking sucks!
I’ve had a great experience here!! I’ve lived here for a couple years now and I know they recently went through property management changes. Amelia, the property manager, is fantastic!! She has taken well care of our apartment. I’ve only needed to put in a few normal maintenance requests in and they are quick to fix and fix it right! The community as a whole is quite nice as well. It’s a seemly quiet and very well maintained property. The pool and community area are quite nice as well! If you are in the market for a great place to live then I highly suggest checking out Summerwood on Towne Line!!
Lived here for more than a year, apartment quality was okay, much better than other apartments in this area. Liked the new management more, but they were over promising and in reality didnt do a single thing they promised. For example at the time of extending the lease, they told us they will be installing ceiling lights and fans in our bedrooms and will be hiring a professional crew for carpet cleaning. But after signing the lease, they refused to do a single thing. On the positive side they are very friendly and the manager is not rude like the previous manager.
Enjoyed living here very much. Apartment was spacious and perfect for me. Maintenance issues were always completed promptly. The location is perfect with shopping in easy walking distance. My reason for moving out is that I bought a house!
We loving living here. The complex is always clean and well maintained. The manager Daniel has always been helpful and taken care of us since the day we walked in to see if they had anything available. He went out of his way to make sure moving in was a stress free and we appreciated it.
I recently moved to summerwood and have not had a great experience so far. Other reviews mentioned maintenance not completing work orders in a timely manner and I agree. It has been 2.5 weeks and 3 phone calls to the office and I am still waiting on maintenance to complete the work order. Also they said in the computer it was marked as done even though nothing was fixed. A 100 dollar outdoor furniture piece I bought went “missing” and I had to reorder. Also the gates have been wide open and rarely are closed comprising safety. The only good part is the interior of the apartments are aesthetically pleasing even though appliances have not been updated since the apartment has been built. Also the location is great but probably would recommend looking at other apartments nearby.Update in August 2020: my car has recently been broken into, someone hit my car and chipped paint and ran, the office never picks up the phone, there are no cameras and no security, the office is terrible at communicating with their residents. SAVE YOURSELF AND LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE
I lived here for about 3.5 years...we went thru about 3 different managers in that time frame. I have to say, hands down, the current management staff has been amazing!! They’ve always been so warm & inviting, they listen to concerns & take action when needed! I would highly recommend them!
Maintenance staff is awesome! I have had issues with my air conditioning/heating system not working and they fix it within the hour I call! Area is well lit at night and seems safe to me so I am able to walk my dog after getting off of work late in the evening. Neighbors are friendly. Overall, I think it is a great place to live!
This is my worst experience ever! I never got my maintenance issue resolved my one and only issue. And after I moved out I had an email stating that everything was good but randomly now I got a call from a debt collector (let me add that I personally handed in my keys and provided notice once I finally found someone available in the office and everything!)... I left 2 forwarding addresses and 2 phone numbers and no bill or anything has arrived my way. I called and the lady was super nice so I appreciated her so much. However that whole system is messed up! I could’ve easily paid it or made a payment plan or whatever but no communication was provided until the debt collector contacted me telling me how my credit is going to be affected if I didn’t pay in that moment. I had no idea. Very unprofessional in my opinion. Go somewhere else!
There is plenty of storage in these units and the appliances are fairly new. The manager is great and quick to answer all my questions. I receive several packages from online shopping and have to pay a few visits to the office a month to pick them up. I always find the staff friendly! The maintenance team is great. They have always completed my requests the SAME day(replaced battery in fire alarm and light bulbs in bathroom). They called when I forgot to lock up my dog and once I locked him up and called them back, they went right back to working on my unit! I have also had to have to change my locks due to my carelessness and losing my key... The neighbors are friendly as well. The pool is quiet and a great place to relax in the summer.
I drive by Summerwood nearly every day and thought it would be a nice place to inquire about for when my existing lease was up. I got in touch with Tiffany in the leasing office on a Saturday morning and had an appointment set up for that same day at noon. She was very welcoming and friendly and one of the most approachable people Ive met. She was very open and honest about the complex and did a great job of answering my questions and being up front about everything. She showed a genuine interest in helping me to make sure that I found the right fit. She followed up with me on Sunday to answer more questions and to try to find something that worked for me. Ultimately, I did not end up leasing at Summerwood due to availability not working out with my timeline so I cannot speak as a resident, but it did seem like a very nice place to live and I am very grateful to Tiffany for doing all that she did to help me with my search.
They do not fix anything. Too many issues with their apartments. They act like you are bothering them when you keep asking. Don’t waste your time living here.
They advised a “Gated Community;” however the gates have NOT worked in over 5monthsResidents drop TRASH & GARBAGE in front of incinerator, this is an. EYESORE AT MAIN ENTRANCE and it happens daily.I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX TO ANYONE!!!!
Paul and Jessica were very helpful in the move in process. Rent and utilities are very reasonable for how nice the apartments are. Maintenance goes above and beyond and is extremely helpful and courteous as well. Not the best part of town, but have not had any break-in issues. Quiet location far enough away from 86th Street so you dont hear the road noise. No complaints.
This place is the LAST place anyone should seek to move into or do business with. They are by far the best scammers when it comes to apartment complexes and trust me Ive had my fair share of run ins with apartment places. The staff here are insensitive, condescending, and will ignore your calls and fail to tell you important details about your apartment and they wont let you see your actual place youre moving into until move in day despite your verbal plea weeks in advance to not do this. The apartments here are grossly overpriced. This place is willing to charge $1,028 for an apartment with NO microwave (in 2019?!), outdated stove, and other minor tricks and shortcomings they will blatantly not tell you. They are not flexible and are not genuine at all. Go live somewhere where they actually care about you as a tenant and human being. The reviews look awesome, the neighborhood looks beautiful at face value, however, alllll other aspects of this place is trash. Not worth it at all. Go elsewhere, please.
I havent even moved in yet, and Tiffany has already made me feel so at home. Everyone I have met is so welcoming and genuine. And for the first time, the pictures dont lie! Its as beautiful in the pictures as it is in person! Moving halfway across the country has been stressful. This will be my first apartment by myself and I couldnt be happier. Im a young girl so I constantly worry about the town Im in and the people Im near. The environment is very safe, quiet, and has a very warm feeling to it. Tiffany has put all of my worries at ease! I couldnt thank her enough for all of her help, and I cant wait for this new adventure!
Not to bad of a location. There were lots of break ins into cars. Lady below us smoked so much our apartment smelled like smoke. The stairs were outside at a luxury apartment complex. The Windows leaked bad and made the heating bill more than it needed to be. The pool was awesome. No one was ever at the pool.
These apartments are AMAZING ! The staff is extremely friendly and they care. They do not look at us(residents) as just residents. If there is a problem, like every company it may not be fixed within 2 seconds but they will get it done the BEST way to prevent future issues and it is very professional work and fixed within a timely manner(be understanding of time it may take to fix issue). I love Summerwood because they make it feel like HOME. I love the online payments, It is very convenient and helpful if I am unable to come into the office and make my payment. Caly the assistant manager is very dedicated to making us feel like we are important, Ameila the property Manager makes sure the property is looking great and Thomas the leasing agent is down to earth and friendly. I wouldnt want to live anywhere else! Thank you Summerwood, My family appreciates you!!
We love our apartments. We had a taco/pool party today it was Awesome!! The staff is really nice and helpful.
I have never understood the negative reviews here. I have lived in multiple parts of Marion and Hamilton county throughout college and this has BY FAR been my favorite place. I am a woman in my 20s, live alone, and have never felt unsafe. Both leasing managers since I have been here (since Nov.2017) have been extremely attentive and kind. The maintenance staff are the nicest guys I have ever met and I have never waited longer than a couple of hours for them to come, even for extremely minor issues (e.g. - changing a light bulb I cant reach). And a rent increase upon renewal is extremely common for urban areas and shouldnt be a huge shock. I am really happy here and going to be sad to leave when I eventually buy a home!
I absolutely love it here! Im moving to a different apartment on the 2nd floor just to make things a bit safer since I live alone and they made it super simple. I love my apartment minus the parking but other than that there are no complaints. Maintenence is awesome, my air conditioning wasnt working and they fixed it within the hour. I miss Paul but the new manger deems nice from the brief conversation we had about me transferring to the second floor. Pool is beautiful and having a police presence makes me feel a bit safer as well. As long as prices stay the range Im okay spending then I will definitely renew. I have not had any of the problems that Ive read from other residents.
This complex is objectively pretty and reasonably priced. However, we felt the customer service was disrespectful towards us and unprofessional causing us to find a different complex to live in.
Pros:Apartments are fairly well taken care of. Maintenance is on top of fixing anything that breaksStaff are nice, have been really helpful for the most part. May change though, current manager (Paul), quit very recently so this may get better or worse depending on the new manager. Paul was a really nice manager and seemed to care about the renters.Bathrooms are nice. Garden Tubs are a good thingWalk In Closets are Also nice, built in wire shelving, easy to take down if you have your own stuff you want to put in, but there if you want to use it.Kitchen Pantry: I have the actual kitchen as a con- its simply way too small. But, they do mitigate this with a pantry, which is nice. Its a small closet, but not many apartments have a pantry at all, so I have the pantry itself as a plus.Cons:Security: They dont keep up on the security guards. When the apartments were on the news they hired out for a guard, but didnt keep them there so ended up having issues again after a few months. Break ins have since stopped, but I dont feel like it was so much related to the apartment complexs handling of security as it was simply that the people who were breaking into peoples apartments and cars moved on to the next complex. One other thing worth noting: Like pretty much every apartment complex out there, they will not let you out of the lease if you feel unsafe. You will have to buy out the lease to move out early if there is another crime spree (Which will ultimately cost you 4 months rent at the time of this review. 2 Months rent to buy out the lease, and 60 days notice)Cost: Theyve been raising rent for the last few years, used to be a good deal, now not as much. Can get better, more updated apartments for cheaperUpdates: Every year you renew, you get something added to the apartment, but the upgrades really arent that great. Example: Mounted microwaves for the tiny kitchens that should have come standard anywaysKitchen: Really tiny for the cost. There is no silverware drawer, not enough space for one, not nearly enough storage. Stove is super basic (No timer on it, big temperature variations between front and back of the oven), Microwave may not be standard on the apartment itself (But you can get one with the yearly upgrade). Pantry Helps to mitigate the storage issue, but it certainly does not solve it. If you like to cook, this kitchen isnt all that great for it. you will have to come up with different solutions for a number of things (Cant sear, cant really use the broiler, not enough storage space, no silverware drawer, not much counter space, electric stove instead of gas)Fire Alarms: Too easy to set off from cooking- doesnt have to be smoke. If you do, close the doors to all the rooms and fan the fire alarm in the hallway. Will usually get set off if you use broil on the stove, or sear something on the stove.Trash: There is a single dumpster for the entire complex. No issues with trash overflowing or anything like that, its a huge compactor. Issue here is that no one is within reasonable walking distance. You have to toss the garbage in your car and drive to the dumpster to throw your trash out. I feel like this is a bit of an oversight in the overall apartment design. Could be mitigated by a trash-service, but at the moment they dont offer it.Temperature Control: shouldnt come as any surprise in an apartment, but there is only 1 thermostat. Its in the hallway. If you close the doors to the rooms, you will have a big temperature difference between each room and the main living space. On top of that, no ceiling fans unless you explicitly choose to install them or get them installed with your free yearly upgrade.Summary:Not a bad place, but ultimately I give them three stars for cost in comparison to what I get. Used to be a really good deal, but raised prices a bit too quickly for what they are giving. It is a good place though, better then most apartments around Indianapolis. Hard to find non crappy bathrooms.
These buildings have cockroaches! And management doesn’t care and they don’t want to do anything about it. When I try calling they just yell at me and hang up the phone.
My husband and I were so excited to move into these apartments as newlyweds. We had just finished college and were working at the hospital next door! How perfect! If you like aparements infested with spiders, a manager who lies and screws you out of every dime you have, and a management company that has no checks or balances to help deal with a complaint! We also had 2 break ins in the safe gated community. In the past two years that we have lived here, the gate has not worked.I would NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE.
Amelia has done an amazing job! Keep up the hard work.
New management company has recently purchased the property & its pretty terrible now. Ridiculous fees, unresponsive staff, grounds are barely kept up (gates broken for weeks, sprinklers broken for weeks, lawn rarely mowed), late fees when youre not late, and huge rent increase. Save yourself some trouble -- go elsewhere!
Move in was smooth and the office staff are great!! Big thanks to Carvel for all his patience and help in deciding my new home.
I relocated to Indy from Lafayette for work in April & came across Summerwood. Met with the manager, who was amazing! Super helpful, friendly & accommodating. The apartment model was great! Cute & perfect for me & my pooch. But, as soon as I moved in, I was informed that management was changing & that the current manager would no longer be there, which was a huge bummer! This new management is awful. Not one single community event since I got here. The grounds are definitely not upkept, the grass is not maintained, the doggy stations for waste always run out of bags or the trash can for that waste is overflowing. Ive had to personally call the front office about things-i.e. no trash bags, a break down vehicle, dog droppings being everywhere and a broken cement stair on the staircase-all things I shouldnt have to call on if management was actually checking the property, which doesnt happen. Several people leave trash out for the valet on days where valet isnt coming, which attracts the raccoons near the buildings. Ive seen trash flung out around the yards that doesnt get taken care...its gross. Not upkept. And the maintenance is a joke. They have left,my apartment not the way they found it. Parts laying around... they even had to move a chair to get something in, which is fine, but then didnt move it back. I have also had to call because they repaired the wrong thing. I gave 2 stars because the location is very close to anything & everything. The apartment is nice & cozy. Other than that, its not worth the money I pay. I cant wait until my lease is up to move! DONT MOVE HERE.
OVERPRICED--FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE (you will be after a year anyway when they SUBSTANTIALLY raise your rent). Well Ill just say this, I was prepared to sign another 15 month lease with them but they increased my rent $50. There have been NO upgrades or updates since I have been there and I already have the most basic apartment they have.( Im talking no clock on the stove basic.) I asked them to work with me and they said no. Mind you, my lease is up in December (when most places have good deals on rent.) But because they are about 90% full my little money or the fact that I have been here for over 2 years doesnt matter. So basically Ill move out and they will charge the next person $1000 or more for the same basic apartment. (FYI) I have never given them any problems. Pet owners do not pick up their pets feces so you have to be real careful where you walk. Especially in the court yard around the BBQ grill. Parking is ridiculous. Maint. is ok, maybe because I had minor problems not sure how the bigger issues are handled. Although I did have the same issues over and over and over again. You would think they would want to keep good quality, quiet, on time paying tenants, unfortunately money is more important. So if you want to live where the tenant is just an overpriced rent payment, then this is certainly the place for you. Good luck!!
Lets do this review in the form of pros and cons. Honestly there is no such thing as the most perfect apartment complex in the world so lets give credit where credit is due.Pros.Staff - Carval, Jessica, and Daniel(new apt manager who replaced Paul) are wonderful to approach and talk to. If you have issues theyll do whatever is in their power to work with you. And if the problems cannot be solved, theyll at least listen with open ears and were not rude at all. If anything they were emotionally supportive and patient . do keep that upUnits, are not too bad themselves. Lovely carpets, hardwood floor, and does feel a bit like a regular single story house. Balcony is a nice bonus as well as the kitchen pantry. Appliances work, but nothing special. I just cooked hamburgers on a stove the other night and it didnt seem to set anything off thus far.Clubhouse is quite alright at times, can walk around there for a bit if you need to get fresh air and the pool is decent. Ive seen several residents and their fellow guests frequent it quite constantly. As for the break ins mentioned in media or attacks that have happened in the past, knock on wood none of that has happened to me within the gated community to which I am thankful.Maintenance is alright. They do the jobs when they count. The apartment complex itself was a major life saver as I needed a place to stay within a couple weeks. They returned my call in a heartbeat; Carval and I were able to strike up an approval deal within minutes. If you need a place to move into NOW (as long as you have enough money for prorated rent, admin fee, and deposit) then this place can save you.Cons.I feel the prices for the apartment units are not the most budget friendly, and they like to increase your rent by a marginal percentage per leasing year. It would be fantastic if this system could be scrutinized and reworked. When certain things happen (pests, broken blinds, etc) it does take a toll on your wallet despite the costs being split into installment payments. Some things within the apartment also may need reworking such as the plumbing system in one of the restrooms. Something simple happens and the commode often will overflow. Please do look into plumbing improvement.Neighbors are okay to TALK to in a casual pass by, but dont expect to build any friendships anytime soon if youre the type of person to socialize within the neighborhood.Bottom lineIf youre in a financial situation like I am with multiple monthly bills and a needy family to try and help from afar, then I definitely would reconsider renewing the lease as there are multiple complexes for up to half the price. If you can get past the high prices then Summerwood isnt too bad. Its liveable, appliances work for the most part, staff are courteous and friendly to talk to, and not much more in this field can be asked for than that.Thanks.NPJ
HORRIBLE APARTMENTS!!!! Stay away. Maintenance is horrible they have to come out 3 different times to fix the same problem. You are charged monthly for trash removal when you are the one personally removing your trash complete rip off. Do not be fooled by the car wash station its just a water hose in the back of the complex! Oh yeah if you are planning on staying at Summerwood for more than one year please be prepared for your rent to take a drastic increase after the first year with no logical explanation from management. Nosey neighbors wont be a problem here however nosey staff will be . I was constantly harassed by staff as well as was my Camaro. There are plenty of better communities in the city of Indianapolis ! YOUVE BEEN WARNED!
Tiffany in the office has been super friendly and helpful!
I live here currently, Ive been here for almost a year and it definitely hasnt been a walk in the park. There are several dogs on the premises that bark all day making it very unpeaceful and then the residents allow their dogs to poop on the grass and dont pick it up nor does the apartments send out letters forcing residents to do this.My toilet just runs and maintenance claims its normal then after several complaints they finally replaced the toilet, the floor is unleveled, the light in the kitchen intermittently turns on when you flip the switch, forcing you to have to play with the switch to get the light to come on. The power in the kitchen blows when I use my microwave and the power in the hallway blows when I plug in vacuum, the carpet is coming up, the closets are poorly put together and after hanging clothes up it fell down, the Windows dont stay open unless you put something under it to prop it open, omg then gnats are gross I have gnats which they claim is coming from the garbage disposal and comes from lack of use which I began to use it more which causes my water bill to increase and the gnats still come. Smh its terrible. Then this year they have the nerve to increase my rent and Im still having issues in my apt. My water heater still goes out and when my air kicks on there is a burning smell (like the smell you get from not cleaning out the lint from the dryer), my kitchen sink leaks when I use it and the water pressure sprays out crazy at random. They have every excuse in the book for every issue besides resolving it. Then there are spider webs along the stairways as if they dont believe in spraying. The apartments look nice but arent worth it. If you dont mind a bootleg apt for a luxury price then its the place to be.
All of the negatives other people mention are present. This lack of respect and care extends to the management of package deliveries. In two months they have twice lost packages that were delivered to the office with no explanation or acknowledgement. I would look elsewhere.
I miss the old administration a lot!!!! This place couldn’t be worst!!!
Please stay away from the apartment. The manager wont acknowledge my 2 months notice just because shes received notification few days late. Of which the previous manager (Paul) knew of my vacation and had already been notified by email prior to the 2 months notice due date. Now being charged $900+ (6days)
I tell you something: this place is getting worst and worst!!!!! What a regret!!!!!
