I would give these guys six out of five stars if I could! I have taken my car here for numerous repairs and they consistently treat me well, have the best prices I can find, and genuinely help me. Their prices beat out the dealership every time. Also Larry, the mechanic, has given me tons of advice and tips to maintain and fix problems on my car myself. They will look and diagnose many problems in your car for free with no charge! They are also quick and efficient, anytime I’ve been there I have been served almost immediately. This will be my go to car mechanic and shop for the entirety of my time living in Houston. I am super grateful that I found these guys and will continue to have my car serviced here for a while. I cannot say this about other Kwik Kar locations, but this one is spectacular. You will not regret taking your car here! And truly, if you have basically any question about your car, Larry the mechanic here is Unbelievably experienced and knowledgeable. I know nothing about cars and he has help me understand things that are under my hood, tips on pricing, and knows the auto industry better than I could ever hope. One of the best auto shops in town!

The only place I take my car. One time Ruddy personally came to jump my car so that I could avoid paying for a tow truck. We don’t live in the area any more, but I drive 30 minutes whenever I need service or am inspection. Hands down the best car place.

There are many options in this area but if you arent coming here youre missing out. The service is so fast and everyone who works here is incredibly polite, professional, and kind. The prices are also fantastic (Im a poor college student and I can afford it). If youre even remotely close to this location you should come here. Cant rate it highly enough.

If you happen to go to the Kwik Kar on Shepherd, you will find a hidden gem of a mechanic named Larry.Larry has been the only mechanic I will bring my car to for well over a year now. Being new to Houston, and having an older car, Larry has consistently proven that not only is her knowledge and expertise far superior to any mechanic I’ve ever worked with throughout my 20 years of driving, but he’s incredibly patient, kind, and honest.Larry truly cares about his customers and my experience is that he cares the most about making sure my car runs well and I can stay within my budget. Have not had too much experience with the other providers, but I highly recommend Larry.

Fastest oil change I ever got in my life. They told me 10 minutes (which I was already happy about) yet got it done in 5! Definitely the place to go if you need the job done fast!

Came here for an oil change and state inspection. Subsequently needed new brake pads and a few other things. Roman and his team were professional and efficient. They got everything done in a timely fashion while also taking care of other customers. I would highly recommend this place if you need your car/truck to be maintenanced. Great job guys.

Came in for a state inspection on Saturday. Their employees were friendly and had me up and running in no time. The resting area was nice and had good coffee ( im picky with my coffee ).

Ive been going here since 2018! The last time I went which was Feb 2021, seems like they have all new crew. They have always vacuumed front floor matts ect and they didnt do it.I have Kwik linked to my Carfax app, and they didnt take the time to check the boxes which helps me remember what exactly they did each time.

Excellent service, the two gentleman working there were friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. Im incredibly impressed they were so friendly given I went in around 4pm and they were working without AC in this crazy summer heat. Will continue to go back here and highly recommend

I went to get a simple oil change and state inspection. They didn’t ask me what type of oil I wanted and put synthetic in my car and charged me extra for it when I was never asked. I left and my car key fob was loose .the black fob part and key part needed to be squeezed together to click into place. I was going straight home, and when I got there and tried to press a button on the fob, there wasn’t anything...the button fell into the fob because there was no longer a circuit board. I used it to unlock my car to drive to Kwik Kar so I know it was functional before. I tried to go back to the shop and they denied that anything happened. Will not be going back or recommending to anyone in the Houston area.

They, for the most part, do soft sell on theother services they offer like installing engine or cabin filters, transmission fluid change, power steering fluid change, & radiator coolant change. 5 stars for not using scare tactics when women drivers drop by (per my significant other). Showed up for oil change. Asked for same price as last time and Mobil 1 as Ive asked for everywhere I get my oil changed. Guy tried to charge $25 higher than last time and wouldnt even match a competitors price. Stalls completely empty at the time. Will never be back.

This is a great place to take your car! I needed an oil change and the staff was super welcoming and made the process extremely easy! I was in and out in about 15 minutes, they vacuumed my car, replaced my washer fluid, and double checked all of my tires, along with the oil change. The waiting room is comfortable and clean, and staff was very kind and knowledgable. I recommend taking your car here for any help!

I had to buy my own filterAnd they still charged me $70 to change my oil. The man begin to raise his voice when I asked him about the oil price and I see on my receipt that theres an additional $30 up charge.He didnt even ask and am more taken a back by how rude this dude was, litterally yelling at me trying justify the up charge.Definitely not coming back.

Always a very friendly staff. Their crew is knowledgeable and helpful, and they are never pushy. The waiting room is clean with fresh coffee and a soda vending machine. The unisex restroom is clean and well stocked. Highly recommended. They also have a top-off service, which allows you to come back if your car needs more wiper fluid, etc.

The mechanic named Chris helped me out today, he is exceptional at what he does. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and I felt I could trust a mechanic for once in my life. I appreciated the fast and courteous job this place had to offer.

Chris was great! Service has always been really great and fast here. I always do my car registration here cause it will not take em more than 6-7 min. to return us our car. Love it and recommend!

This is my favorite place to get my oil changed. There is a guy there named Chris who inspects the car and lets you know what’s wrong with it but also isn’t pushy if you don’t want to get it all done in one day. They make sure to leave the car cleaner on the inside than it was before you brought it there and they always get it done within a timely manner. I definitely recommend to everyone.

What a pleasure these guys are. I only needed a State Inspection for my car but they were super efficient, quick & polite. The garage is kept immaculate & tidy as is the customer waiting area, which was fully equipped with tv, drinks & magazines on a variety of subjects. I will definitely be returning for next year’s inspection & using them when my car needs a tune up.

Slaters KC on West 11th, installed a remanufactured starter, when i had it towed to them, after my car shut down, they said they couldnt test for that, because the safety system in my car shut it down. After taking to another Triple AAA garage, they installed a new starter, because they had the testing equipment. I would not go this Slaters Kwik Car. The mgr was never there, the runaround i got was terrible. Then after i went to the new garage Slaters Kwik Car wanted me to bring my car back and let them install another. I figured one bad experience was enough.

Agree with the previous posters. They wouldnt pass my state inspection because they said one of my wipers had a 0.25 tear in them. Then, conveniently, said they had wipers available for sale and would pass me if I bought them there. Or I could change them myself and come back. This is an old-fashioned scam that inspection stations use to hold your time hostage and sell you their overpriced junk. Go somewhere more reputable where they wont screw with you.

I said I will change myself and come back, he said well you are missing your light on your plate but if you buy the blades Ill overlook the light. So obviously they dont go based on the law! Since my time is valuable I bought a pair of blades and he passed my inspection without a light on my plate. That place is such a SCAM I will be filing a complaint.

The employees were super friendly and helpful, and the service was fast! Most importantly, they were very clean! Not a single oil smudged handprint anywhere on my car after service, I would highly recommend this place, they are very professional.

These guys are awesome. They are the only ones I trust with my car. They do not try to scam you with services you do not need (i.e. they dont try to sell you an air filter when you dont need one!) and they will take the time to show you WHY you need certain services. They also take the time to explain how these services impact your car.

I go here on a regular for my oil changes and light maintenance. I needed to replace my battery and discovered that it was totally corroded. So corroded that it ate through the connector. Auto zone did not have the part nor did anyone else. The manager Steve came to my location (just around the corner) He replaced the part with a new connector and I have not had a problem. He really went above and beyond and I cannot say enough good things about Steve and the service at Kwik Kar.

Went for a state inspection. Greeted me at vehicle and it was completed in 20 minutes. Very friendly and professional.

Save your money. Do not take your car here, ever. They put me on the back burner for a long time even though I was there early, gave me the same bad part twice, and on top of that contaminated my brake system with bad, dirty fluid. I was also charged $200 for a $95 part. So they gave me a bad part and also ripped me off. All this and they charge 100/hour for labor. They pushed my car aside so they could get to other cars, then tried to sell more labor to figure out the problem. They are either the worst mechanics in the world or scammers, probably both. Either way, do not risk losing your car like I did. I believe they carelessly worked on mine in a rush and really screwed it up. Kwik Kar needs to go out of business for their incompetence.

Tried to up sell a engine oil flush with a 2017 car with less than 30k Miles. The oil from the dipstick was amber gold but he showed me the oil from the filter to show how dirty it was, Of course its going to be dirty at the filter! Told them not to roll down the windows when i came in since i just tinted them the day before and I walk out to see the window rolled down and they didnt seem to really care about the problem they might have created.

Rude, unprofessional, and useless. It says you close at 6 not 5:45pm, why have all you equipment packed away well before you close but your garage doors are up and your technicians are playing on their phones? First and last time glad I wasted no money on this location.

Wouldnt pass my state inspection because they said my windshield wipers were streaking. They were trying to up-sell me on wiper blades, but I had recently put new blades on, and when I tried it out afterwards when I was driving away, there were no streaks. The rubber on the wiper blades was brand-new, and the graphite was still on the blades. Streaking is also an excessive application and interpretation of the actual state requirements to pass the inspection. I wouldnt trust them- especially if you are a woman. They are just going to tell you something is wrong so they can make more money.

They insisted that all of my wipers were torn up and that I wouldnt receive an PASS for my state inpection unless I purchased replacement. It has recently rained and they did not have anything wrong with them. When I said this, the man seemed to clam up but assured me they could show me the damaged blades. The only way they were torn is if they took a razor to them. Unfortunately, I saw after my visit that ither reviewers have said the same thing. This place is a scam and I will not return.

I go here all the time. They are pretty quick about getting my cars inspected and serviced. If there is a problem, they will show you what it is (e.g dirty air filter) and make appropriate recommendations. Counter to what some people think, all cars DO need regular maintenance. I trust these guys to do that. Ive never felt that they have tried to up-sell me on services. They always give me the last word, since ultimately it is my decision. For those of you who dont trust anybody, I recommend that you stay home and do your own car maintenance.

Went in for an oil change and heres my comments:+ Positive note: The oil change was quick, I spent about 15 minutes inside the shop. They changed the oil, replenish washer fluid, vacuum the interior and checked the tire pressure.- Negative note: When I got into my car to drive home, I noticed that the steering wheel was considerably heavier than before. So I stepped outside and told one of the men who just worked on my car about that. Both himself and another man tried it out and said that it was heavy going back and forth and that could happen because I never had my steering system serviced before (which is true, but the car was driving fine before I drove into the shop and to think that the steering system can turn from working fine to bad within 15 minutes is unimaginable). I decided to just leave because I didnt know what else to argue about. After getting back to my place, I checked the tire pressure and strangely enough, both the tires on the driver side were having 31.5 psi, but the ones on the passenger side were having 39 psi (front) and 36 psi (back). The over-inflated front tire could be the reason why the steering wheel has seized up previously.I dont have any convincing argument to conclude that this was done on purpose to solicit any extra services, but I definitely would not come back in the future.
