This place seems like a good place and this review is not based on them doing a bad job but rather giving me a bad experience and turning my dying pet away over $5.we brought our pet ferret here to get some test done because she was not doing well. we discovered she had kidney failure and needed subcutaneous fluids to flush her blood out and try to get her kidneys to recover. we spent $1400+ for these test and other treatments. they showed us how to do the subcutaneous fluids so we could do it at home. we decided to let the vet do it a few times before we try it to make sure we knew what we were doing. the charge for this would be $20. it needed done daily. ferrets health can diminished so fast that your head will spin. these guys can go from playful and thriving to dead within 24 hours. that is how fast their health can diminish.being a night owl, i had to get up early the next day and ended up running late to get my ferret to the vet for her fluids. i made it to the vet a few minutes before closing. they charge an additional $5 for after hours services for things like this. they came and took my ferret and took her inside. they then called me to get the payment of $25 having adding on the $5 for after hours even though i arrived a few minutes before closing. all i had on me was the $20. i asked if they could just add it to some kind of account or something because we just spent over $1400 there the day before. they said they couldnt do anything for me. they brought my dying ferret back out without doing anything all because i was short of $5. its literally a 10 second job. needle in, plunge solution in, done.i took her home, did research and did the subcutaneous fluids ourselves from then on until her passing shortly after.
This place is a drive for me but the professionalism of the doctor and staff makes it worth it. I also appreciate they are still willing to come take my pet from the car even though their office is fully reopened. Their office visit fee is also considerably cheaper than other vets I’ve been to.
Veterinary service just doesn’t get better than this. Every person… everyone… is kind and compassionate. They used superior listening skills to better understand my concerns about Patches and how to direct his care. Thanks, Dr. Dan, for creating a special place. (=^•^=)
My sister had a 17 year old cat who was very ill and unfortunately needed euthanasia services. She did not have a vet so called around and they were able to give us an appointment the next morning. Everyone was so compassionate and caring with CJ (her cat) and us. I will forever be grateful to the all the staff and the female vet whose name I unfortunately cant remember although I will always remember her kindness. Thank you from my heart.
I trust them with my rabbit, when I get her back she’s laid back and not worked up. Their pricing and initial deposit is also very reasonable compared to MANY other vets around the city. If they can fit you in they will! I also like the veterinarian very much she is very thorough and detailed about options available.
My 5 year old cat had dental cleaning and tooth extraction done there, staffs are professional and friendly very patient to explain everything to me and allow me to go inside for check ups. Doctor is professional and friendly, answered all my questions. My Kitty is recovering very well!Very happy I found this place for my baby Kitty!
I love this place!! The staff is knowledgeable and kind. My dog was bit at a boarding facility and they were able to work him in last minute. Bailey called me and told me to come as soon as I could. About a year ago, my dog scratched his eye and they were able to accommodate us as well. The vet always communicates effectively and takes time to answer my questions and concerns. I highly recommend them!
The entire staff is so nice and they are very knowledgeable. Everything was explained to me in detail and they did whatever needed to be done to take care of my little doggy. The inside and outside was very neat and clean. I definitely recommend taking your pets here. I love it
Everyone here is friendly and caring. I highly recommend them!Thank you for taking care of our little Pomeranian puppies!
I can’t say enough good things about AMC from the front desk to the vet techs to Dr. Jordan…the best! They have treated all of our cats through the good times and the tough times. They are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and compassionate.
Found out my rabbit had an eye infection and they were able to see me the same day. Staff was very friendly and our vet was awesome! It was my bunny’s first vet trip, her eye is already looking better. Thanks AMC Of The Village for making it a Great experience!
Thank you for not pushing costly procedures just to pad your profits. True quality care with considering quality of life. Very rare nowadays.
They took great care of my sisters pet bunny! Awesome staff and great doctor!
I highly recommend this clinic. I’m a new bunny mom & thought something was wrong. I had never been here before but they were able to see me same day. The entire experience was amazing. The staff made me feel so comfortable because I was very anxious. Kim, was so helpful & took excellent care of my baby. The vet was awesome & answered all of my questions. This is now the only place I will go. If you have a rabbit this is the best place. Thank you!
My dog had a skin issue very common with the breed I have. Went to them multiple times only thing they gave him was steroids and antibiotics. Never once did they mention anti fungal shampoo or any extra things to help. So they recommended a dermatologist. I called my vet back home and the associate gave me more tips and remedies then the four times I went here they gave me zero. my vet talked to me for 18 mins on the phone and gave me the time of day un like this place will always have you on hold and rush you in and out. Compared vets like the one I have at home is like a good family owned restaurant this place feels like a fast food chain in and out with minimum answers
Our two bunnies, Carrot Cake and Chocolate Cake were due to be fixed, and we were very nervous to have the procedures done, especially for Carrot Cake, as getting spayed has lots of potential complications for female rabbits. However, Dr. Jordan made us feel very comfortable and confident in his ability as he performs dozens spay and neuters for a local rabbit shelter every year. When we brought the bunnies in they confirmed who we and our bunnies were, which made us feel good about them being knowledgeable about who was scheduled to come in that day. They referred to our bunnies as babies, which was very cute and very true, as they tagged their carriers with their names and got them situated in the back. They went into surgery around 11AM and sent is a text that our babies were being prepped for surgery, which was a great touch and very considerate of them to do. After the procedure they called me to let me know they did extremely well during surgery and that they were already moving around and being adorable. She gave us the time for pickup around 5 and we were able to do so with an explanation on how to administer the medicine properly. They even offered to give them the medications themselves if we had any issues. They followed up with a phone call the next couple of days to make sure our bunnies were feeling better and making a good recovery. That made us feel even better about bringing them in.Overall, the experience here was phenomenal, a friend who had recently lost a bunny in surgery brought their other bunny in to be fixed and they (AMC of the Village) took extra care with the bunny because of their previous traumatic experience. The prices for the surgeries and such were competitive and honestly, I wouldnt take them anywhere else that was cheaper as they really do know how to care for your furbabies.
My 13 year old elderly dog had a run in with a neighbors dog and was attacked. He had multiple puncture wounds was bleeding which required immediate attention. My neighbor was gracious enough to offer up your services and we rushed him to your facility to receive care. So we rushed him to your facility. My wife who was carrying my injured elderly dog who was bleeding from his leg frantically tried to get my poor animal some medical attention was told by someone at your facility that they where not opening for another 15 minutes and that we would have to wait. My wife asked if she could bring our dog inside to get assistance and again we where turned away. Luckily Sunset Animal Hospital was down the street from your facility. I just have to say the lack of empathy for an injured animal and an emotional pet owner is appalling and I WILL NEVER use or recommend your services and I will do my absolute best to make sure that every neighbor that I know that has animals in their care never use your services either. Luckily my dog is ok thanks to Sunset Animal Hospital and no thanks to you or your piss poor staff and facility.
I called around for hours looking for a vet to do a quality of life exam and possible euthanasia for our cat. She was 16 and howling and pacing in circles. I was able to get her in the next day and the doctor was able to give me a sincere honest opinion. Unfortunately we had to put her down. The price was affordable and included came a clay paw print and an ink print. And a few weeks later came a letter in the mail stating that a tree was donated in her name. These guys are great and will get any future business from me. Thanks a lot.
I love this place and everyone in it. Dr. Kaplan-Stein and Dr. Jordan are extremely warm and welcoming and I wouldn’t trust any place else to treat my pets with the care and love that they provide. Thank you for everything you do. Extra thank you to Dr. Jordan today for being so sweet about my bird, and to Anthony who picked all of her pin feathers for me (something that can be quite an ordeal at home lol!)
They always take extra special care of my dogs!! The prices are reasonable, and the care they give is very personal. They make sure my dogs are always comforted and in tip top shape!!
Ive been coming here for the last two years with my two Boston Terriers, Dexter & Diego. The techs and vets are incredibly kind and responsive. While I do think their pricing is slightly higher than other clinics in the area, I believe the bedside manner is worth it. I go to Dr. Kaplan-Stein and shes incredible knowledgable and thorough!
I called late last sunday about 2 hours before they closed for my red ear slider after calling about 10 other places saying they dont see turtles but once i called here and explained what happened (my baby got a plastic string stuck around her back legs) they told me bring her in and they got her back quickly and ended up having to put her under to remove and they kept her over night and they even stayed after the vet had closed to finish up everything. They were all so nice and called me after i picked her up to check in. I will definitely be bringing my turtles back here if/when needed.
You cant go in, but the men/ladies that come pick up your pet & bring them back are very knowledgeable. I feel comfortable leaving my pet in there care.
This is the place to take your pets. Professional at its core. They treated my dog with respect. I want to thank the staff for their courtesy and professionalism. Don’t hesitate to come here. They will take care of your pets.
Dr. Jordan and his staff are truly the best in Houston! The office staff is incredibly professional and attentive to all of your pet’s needs. The doctors take their time to address all of your concerns and provide thorough instructions for the treatment needed. As a dog mom, I only want the best for my pup—and I have found that high quality of care here at the Animal Medical Center! If you have been looking for a new vet, look no further! You will not be disappointed with the care and kindness of each doctor and staff member.
Scheduled an appt for my sugar glider to be seen and found out they sedate 90% of the sugar gliders they see just for an exam. I was very upset because every vet my guy has ever went to says he is very well behaved and this vet had him in the building literally 30 seconds and called and said she didnt know what I wanted her to do if she couldnt sedate him. Will not be going back with any of my exotics. Gulf coast and safari vet have never had to sedate my exotics just for an exam and Ive had nothing but good experiences. Shame on me for trying a new vet. Im just glad I found out before they sedated him.
I have taken my dogs to Dr. Jordan for over 25 years but did notice as the business grew it seemed to be more about the money and less about the care. Earlier this year, a large mass was removed from my dogs neck to the tune of $1,215.72. I was told to return in a week to have the stitches removed and he cried so loud I could hear him in the waiting area and cried myself. As she was removing the stitches it split wide open so she came out and told me she would have to put staples in and made me sign a release for the anesthesia as she would have to knock him out to do it and would be $116 for the sedation and told to come back in 16 days to have them removed. She also tried to insist I buy the cone that would attach to the collar which is exactly where the incision was on the top of his neck under the collar and would have been impossible to do. I had a soft blow-up cone already and said Id use that instead. The tech said well you just never know how these things will go. No one ever even called to check up on him. Im not a vet but I can tell you that taking the stitches out in a week was way too soon and the fact that the staples had to be in for 16 days confirmed it for me. The whole experience was awful. I took the staples out myself in 16 days rather than go back to her. Then yesterday I went on their portal to get Nexgard which said it was $138.79 but was sent a receipt last night charging me $168.00. I sent them an email saying I wanted to be refunded the additional $30 but they said no I would have to bring it back to them for the refund and then I could order it from them on-line. Unbelievably inconvenient for me on this holiday weekend during the pandemic but I will have to do it. I will now order it for cheaper from petmeds.com instead and will be interested to see if they turn down the request from them. I am so disappointed in what used to be a great place that I recommend to everyone.
This was the best visit! All the staff was super friendly and helpful. This was our first visit here and they worked us in on short notice. The vet was extremely informative and addressed all our concerns and more. You have earned a customer!
My daughter’s guinea pig had a delightful visit as did I. The staff is kind, courteous, and knowledgeable. The doctor went over the visit with me in detail and gave choices for a care plan. It is apparent they care for animals.
Love the staff Awesome service this place is all about your pets care not the money they are genuine and affordable. Dr. Jordan is amazing they check up on your pets for several days after to see how they’re doing. Took my rabbit and my dog here no problems!
AMC of the Village saw us very quickly (within 2 hours) on Memorial Day weekend when we couldn’t find an appointment anywhere else in the area sooner than 3 days out. Our mama cat (who we had just adopted 2 days prior)‘s spay sutures had ruptured and her incision was infected. Dr. Taylor took such good care of her! Our cat was fully healed with no complications after the expected 10 day recovery period. Dr. Taylor was so kind, informative and professional. She called us the day after the procedure to make sure our cat was ok. Prices were good and reasonable. 10/10 - great experience for freaked-out first time cat owners!
I took my green cheek conure in, they were super great. They explained everything they did and other exams they have available, answered all my questions. Will definitely be going back.
This animal clinic is really sweet and really want to give your pets the best care possible. The staff are very knowledgeable and even gave me information that was never given to me from any other animal clinic before. They are straight shooters and really make sure you know whats best for your pet.
My dog recently had a tooth extraction and cleaning. The vet techs and Dr Taylor could not have been more caring. My dog survived, so thats at least 4 stars right there. But the thoroughness they went through prior to the extraction made me feel assured for my dogs well being. They followed up with me after the surgery to make sure he was doing okay and Dr. Taylor talked to me for quite a while on the phone answering all my questions regarding after surgery care. Could not recommend enough.
I have been a client of the Animal Medical Center of the Village for a long time. I consider Dr. Dan Jordan to be the best small animal and bird vet in the state if not a farther reach. I have seen him many times and twice on an emergency basis which the clinic honored. He and his staff have saved Chicos life twice and are now treating him for a serious illness with remarkably good results. Chico is happily at home with me and enjoys a great quality of life thanks to this dedication. Throughout the years I have always been treated professionally and efficiently by any staff member or tech. The new facility is awesome! Dr.Jordan and the entire staff at Animal Medical Center couldnt be nicer to deal with. Dr. Jordans skills with my Blue Front Amazon, Chico are unsurpassed and his charges for his expert treatment of Chico have always been more than reasonable. The technicians are all terrifically friendly and helpful whether I am there at the clinic for an appointment with Melissa or just receiving an reminder call from Ashley. He is not stressed at all when he has to make a routine visit. I trust all the staffs judgment regarding Chicos care 100%. Chico and I have been clients for over 20 years and we would not even consider visiting another vet in the area ever.
This is my choice of vet for my parrots. They are completely transparent with you about their services and never press you if u are tight on funds. They really care about the well being of your animal and have compassion for you as a pet parent. I trust the so kuch, I make the almost hour drive when I have issues with my babies.
This is the BEST clinic to take your pets, especially if you own exotics!! I live almost an hour away (more when traffic is bad) but this is the only clinic I will take my sugar gliders to. Their customer service is fantastic and the girls at the front desk are GREAT! The vets and techs are always willing to sit and answer all my questions for me and never make me feel unimportant or rushed. Sugar gliders are not a common pet so its very hard to find a vet I can trust, but all the vets here are very knowledgeable about them and their care. And their willingness to go above and beyond for my babies and I is what keeps me coming back!!
Great people who truely have a passion for any type of pet! I took my bird here and they were extremely patient, nice and caring and honest! The office is also very clean!
Exceptional service from reception and techs to veterinarians. Open 7 days per week. Easy to get urgent appointments. Have Exotics Veterinarian on staff. (They received call about 5-week-old swans when I was last there.) My daughter had a question about her ball python, which the doctor had already seen for a bad shed. The doctor was at a conference in Canada, but responded to the email inquiry within minutes, at no charge. BTW, the ball python is happy and healthy after my daughter implemented a couple of suggestions offered by the doctor. After experiencing the level of care and professionalism at this facility, I wont be going to any other.
I started going here April 2018 after adopting my anxious rescue dog. While she may not be the biggest fan of the vet, I love the staff and team. They take the time to really listen and understand whats going on to get the best diagnosis. They even encourage happy visits to work on improving my dogs attitude toward the vet and staff (basically I just stop by and they love on her and give her treats so she becomes less scared of them). All around I am pleased with the level of care and would definitely recommend to others. Plus they are AAHA certified.
I have a Jenday Conure that can be quite fussy. Dr. Jordan is the only vet that she seems to trust. She has been egg bound and has gotten quite sick from the experience. Dr. Jordan was very knowledgeable about her situation and kept her healthy. The staff are amazing!
I trust these guys with all 4 of my buns. They are bunny savvy and they care about their patients.
The staff here are amazing. The doctor is really helpful. We have been coming here with our parrots for years, I wouldnt go anywhere else.
Love bringing my pets here. They are loving and I trust them with my dog and cat. They are also more affordable than surrounding vets in this neighborhood. I recommend them to all my friends and family.
I love them 😍 they took care of my dog and hes a wild one sometimes
The staff are very polite and seem to care a lot about animals, so I really dont want to leave a two star review- but unfortunately I took my ferret in and the veterinarian recommended Marshalls kibble as a perfectly balanced diet that has everything my ferret needs when the smallest amount of research will show you this brand is absolutely horrible to them and every vet I have ever seen recommends against it.In addition to this, the veterinarian told me that my ferret had to at least be two years old when I know he was born in January of this year making him about five months.I dont want to leave a bad review because as I said everyone working here is so polite, but unfortunately I feel like I must. I would recommend against bringing ferrets here, they dont seem to be knowledgable about them.
Totally ripped us off for X-rays and tacked on fee after fee. At the end of our visit we had a $400+ bill. Learning opportunity for me to shop around first.
I cannot say enough about this vet practice. I have taken all my pets to them over the years and a few rescue dogs. They are friendly, knowledgeable and its usually easy to get a last minute appointment if there is an emergency. Although they are almost always busy, I still feel like we get personal service and never rushed through. I also so not feel like they over push meds or suppliments in order just to make more money off of you like I have heard about some lower costs vet offices.
They have taken great care of our dog Luna here, and are always so patient and kind to us too. It’s expensive, but the quality of care you get is remarkable and I always have complete faith that my dog is getting the best care possible. The level of expertise they have here really is remarkable.
My dog has been vomiting a few times over the last couple weeks, which I thought was abnormal so I brought him here. After receiving a bill of $970 (included X-rays) I was told that there was no definitive answer as to why he was vomiting and that the normal vaccines he required could not be administered in this visit because he appeared uncomfortable & nauseous. The reasoning was that he just seemed uncomfortable and he was licking his lips. So they said to come back in 2 weeks, at which point I will be charged AGAIN for the exam/consultation that he received today. It would be a reduced fee, instead of $54.50 it would be $37. What. First off, those actions are completely normal for him. He licks his lips all the time, ever since he was a puppy, it actually means hes happy. And if he was uncomfortable, what would that even matter?? Its a vet! Pets can be uncomfortable there, thats normal, and a ridiculous reason not to treat him AND to charge me AGAIN for redundant services. The whole explanation has holes in it and is generally sketchy (do they not treat any pet who appears uncomfortable just to double charge at a later date??) I used to bring my dog and my 3 bunnies to this veterinary hospital but theres no way Im going back; lack of treatment and over-charging isnt acceptable.
Please consider other options if you have an exotic pet (specifically guinea pigs). I was told my pig was simply elderly and was coerced out of doing further testing because I could only make appointments closer to closing time. The night he passed away I was told to take him to a further away emergency facility because (and this is an honest quote from a licensed Veterinarian) They do NOT stay open one minute after closing.
I cant say enough about how wonderful Dr. Jordan and the rest of the staff at Animal Medical Center of the Village. Dr. Jordan is one of the most caring, compassionate Veterinarians Ive ever met. I come from a family of veterinarians (mother, father and sister), and I worked for my father, so I have been around many. Dr. Jordan came recommended by a friend and I havent been a client for very long, but he is so very kind and genuine, I will be taking all other pets, current and future, to him only!! Thank you Dr. Jordan and staff!!
I love that the staff treats our animals as family members not just pets. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to explain unfamiliar medical terms, and they are great as assuaging my paranoia over my parrots health. I really appreciate this team and their hard work.
Thank you so much for being there for Tiger & I. Missy & Melissa thank you for all the emotional support as I was a basket case after our long journey home. I was very impressed with Dr. Bellinger. Tiger is getting stronger every day. So happy all my fur babies are home. Very happy with your extended weekend hours.
They are very helpful. Answered all my questions and are always eager to help. This is the best clinic Ive been to. Drive from Katy just to take pets here.
Absolutely exactly as good as the reviews say. I am so fortunate to own a Quaker parrot and live close to this place, which is my go-to in Houston. I was even further astonished when I found out my Doctor ALSO owned a Quaker! I could not ask for more luck and perfect, specialized help.
The vets, techs, and all front desk staff have been wonderful to work with for keeping my many bunnies, our rescue & foster buns hoppy and healthy. Skill, talent, combined with a clinic that genuinely cares about its animal clients.
The staff from the front desk to the veterinarian were very welcoming, professional, and just all-around nice people. Its hard to find a reptile vet and to find a good one is a blessing. Im very happy to be a part of the vet family!
I had a rescue dog from BARC that needed to be put under medical observation after a surgery. I brought him to AMC because I heard nothing but good things about this place and all I can say is this clinic deserves this fantastic reputation and more! A situation that best encapsulates their treatment of animals this this: I brought my dog in, still very groggy from general anesthetic and a kennel/vet tech came out to bring him back to the kennels. Instead of rushing my dog back, this sweet young man sat with my boy and gave him pets and reassurance. He was completely focused and attentive to the animal. I knew my dog was in excellent hands. The staff is exceptional. Every one of them is well-trained, confident and personable with humans and animals alike. Their facilities are beautiful, immaculate and state of the art. Their lobby has a great sitting area with an impressive fish tank and coffee for clients :) Because they see exotics, you can run into some awesome, uncommon pets waiting there too, like bunnies and iguanas!Alli and Dr. Taylor assessed my dog. Both are knowledgeable and amazing. Waiting times are non-existent (though because their place is so clean and comfortable, I would not mind sitting there with a coffee and watching the fish ;p )These people have massive hearts and bottomless pools of patience. I am so grateful for this team and the loving care they gave my doggo
Dr. Kaplan-Stein performed surgery on my cat because he had swallowed several hair ties. She did a spectacular job! His incision is healing well, and he is feeling so much better! I can not thank her enough!
I am so very happy to find this place. They are experts and they are very friendly and loving with their patients. I highly recommend this place and I will most definitely come back for all my pets needs.
Our previous vet of 13 years highly recommended AMC of the Village (we needed a practice closer to our new home). So far we have been very pleased with the quality of care and treatment our French Bulldog has received. The staff is friendly, the clinic is well-kept, the doctors are confident and knowledgeable, and they do not jump into unnecessary testing. We have also taken two obedience classes at their clinic, and the classes were great!------------------3 years later.....We have had such a positive experience working with AMC over the past years. You can tell they genuinely care about the well being of their patients. My dogs receive excellent care. I cant recommend them enough.

I used to bring my dog and my 3 bunnies to this veterinary hospital but theres no way Im going back; lack of treatment and over-charging isnt acceptable. In addition, they did not allow us to be with our dog when they performed their routine examinations (no surgery); the doctor only spoke to us for a couple of minutes; and when we visited before they changed their name, our dog was 80 lbs and was not considered to be overweight however, today 82 lbs is considered overweight.
I had a very good experience at this facility. My guinea pig, who had stopped eating and drinking completely, was treated with so much care and attention here. The vet and the vet technician were very gentle and observant, and sent me home with meds that would relieve his pain and help his digestive system. I was also given food to syringe feed him.Kim was my vet technician and she was incredibly sweet, considerate, and told me everything that I needed to do to help him. She showed my how to administer his medicines and showed me how to ensure that he was most comfortable. She even carried my guinea pigs cage out to the car with me when my hands were full carrying his medication. (I believe) My vets name was Dr.Kaplan-Stein (she has dark colored hair), and she was incredible. She took the time to educate me on everything that could be wrong with my guinea pig, and when the X-Ray results came in she thoroughly articulated her concerns and even showed me the X-Ray of a healthy animal as an example of what my guinea pigs X-Ray was supposed to look like. I appreciate both her and Kim for being so kind, sympathetic, and providing great service. All in all, he was given everything possible in order for his health to improve. Unfortunately, his was chronically ill and didnt make it. But if I had the choice to go back in time and take him anywhere, I would still go back here. Thank you
I highly recommend with place! We have found our permanent Vet.Dr. Kaplan-Stein and Dr. Jordan are some of the best in Texas, if not the Country! The staff is exceptional.
The staff is great and the doctors are very knowledgeable and very experienced. Highly recommended!
I took my guinea pig who was very sick to this vet and I told the nurse while setting an appointment 30 minutes after that he hasn’t eaten a full meal in 2-3 days ( only small amounts when I was hand feeding him )and told her how he was really sick my appointment was at 5:15 and I got there at 5:00 and my guinea pig was holding on it was in very bad shape but he was holding on and had his happy moments every now and then but we waited for more than hour to get seen and when we did I don’t think he was checked properly for the condition he was in the nurse kind of held him aggressively and put him in a very small container which I believe was to small for him . I trusted her and thought she must know what she is doing but my Guinea pig which had his blanket with him in the container ( it made him feel comfortable the blanket ) was to big and he couldn’t breathe my sister came in the room and said he couldn’t breathe and before the veterinarian saw my pet he had passed away . I would not recommend coming here if you have a pet that is very weak and sick I saw good reviews about this place but even though I set an appointment as soon as possible thirty minutes after I called, my pet did not get seen until more than hour later from the apponted time and I believe was not treated well for the condition he was in and they didn’t understand his situation . I understand they had other animals at the moment but other animals at the moment we were there were barking making noise and playing but my pet was not even making a sound just laying on my hand waiting holding on. I trusted them thinking oh maybe they are behind on appointments I’ll wait it’s ok for my pet I’ll wait but an hour later . The desk receptionist even asked me if you can’t make it to 5:15 we can move it to 6:00 when I called so I thought they committed to their appointments but I was wrong and i had too much faith In them I should of left after 30 minutes of not being seen but i had gone so far to get my pet seen . I wouldn’t recommend this vet my pet would probably be alive if I had decided not to go this place or at least left when i had waited for so long or at least hadn’t left him in the container that was too small him the nurse left him in. I think the only good thing about this visit is that I didn’t have to be charged for letting my pet pass away .
My rabbit Beans got spayed recently at this clinic. Due to their negligence, part of her IV catheter was still inserted and sent home still inside of her post surgery. She had to be taken to the emergency room to get it removed because they were closed. Something like this is totally unacceptable and as a pet owner I cannot tolerate what they did to my rabbit. This was a simple object that should have never been forgotten when she was sent home. Beans was extremely tired after major surgery (rabbits have to be put under anesthesia for a spay). When she should have been resting she was instead at another animal clinic to get this thing removed. Animal Medical Center of the Village is only reimbursing me for the $40 emergency room visit, no costs from her spay were reimbursed. I find this clinics actions completely inexcusable and will never be bringing my pets here again
This review has been a long time coming. If I could give this place negative 500 stars, I would. Kaplain-Stein is the reason my little dog Dino died. I have been trying to stomach writing this review because every time I think about what happened and how easily it could have been prevented had I not trusted her, I burst in tears. I brought him in because he was pooping blood and would vomit a lot. My regular vet suggest that I get an ultrasound done in addition to other tests, which I did. She kept insisting that my 1.5 year old dog had Addison’s disease. For one month straight she had him on steroids to which did nothing for him because when I finally took him to get a second opinion at Sunset hospital, right away the doctor there suggested all his symptoms were more than likely a really bad worm infestation. Something easily treatable if we caught in time. They prescribed some intense antibiotics and suggested a blood transfusion to get him back to a healthy blood count. But sadly, we were a bit too late and he died later that day. They did an autopsy which revealed what the doctor at Sunset knew, his insides were completely infested with worms. If Kaplan-Stein didn’t insist for so long that he had Addison’s disease which she couldn’t even really guarantee, he would still be here today. She didn’t care about my concerns or listen, her tone was always so condescending with me, but hey, I thought maybe she knows better since she went to school for this. But no, my gut not to trust her was right, and for that I’ll never forgive myself. Please do not trust her with your fur baby. I regret it so much, it took me over a year just to gather the strength to write this, but I figure if it could spare at least one person from the pain I went through, then it is worth sharing with you here.
Very friendly and caring. Even on an holiday weekend, theyll be here for you and your companion.
They are so grratvqith animals and so friendly I highly recommend this place Ill definitely be back again
Very reasonably priced for primates. I talk a whole lot and the doctor puts up with me so kudos for her patience. Highly recommended.
They are great, very professional. Thanks guys you help me a lot
Thank you for taking care of my Panchito excellent service ❤
I love Dr. Kaplan-stein AND Dr. Jordan! I have taken my lionhead rabbit to both and they have been so sweet to her and helped with her ear infection. I highly recommend both/either vets!
Best place to go for glider experts. This is the vet that serves the worlds biggest sugar glider breeder.
Dr Jordan and all the staff were very kind and compassionate with their care of my little girl. Im thankful for each one of them
Such a beautiful office. Staff is so nice and the vets are very knowledgeable and helpful!
This place is amazing! So I moved here from Dallas a few months ago and my fur baby has been sick and in pain. I have had my baby for 11 year and I am an over protective mommy. I did research and found a lot of places around my area that were super inexpensive but that was not my worry. I wanted somewhere that was trusted. My DR in Dallas recommended this place. Once my baby was seen and the quote for xrays and urine was not what I was expecting to pay, the Dr discounted the entire visit! (Blessing). Now my baby needs surgery and that bill was let’s says ( I would do anything for my baby) and he discounted that too! Chase will have surgery to remove bladder stones on Thursday and I am not a least bit worried and know he will be in great hands. The staff called me today to check on him and how he was doing on his pain meds until surgery, that just made me even more elated! Great staff and great dr! I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a trusted place with great care!
Brought my ball python in for some redness on her belly. Turns out it was abrasion from bad bedding. Gave us antibiotic and not even 24 hours after the initial dose she Imediately showed signs of improvement. Im taking l of my other exotics to them for now on.
They are in this business for the money. They treated my pet for an eye infection ($400) and when I tried to reorder online the eye drops, the vet refused to approve the prescription. So disappointing!
We have known Dr. Jordan for many years but came back full time when one of our favorite pups was dying. We met Dr. Kaplan-Stein then and she has become the doctor for our new fur-babes. The new place is state of the art but still homey. We dont mind coming in early and waiting for our appointment. We watch animal videos, watch the fish or talk to the bird ambassador. Dr. K-S recently helped us get through a scary illness with our girl Danielle. We dont know what we would do without them. Excellent assessment skills on this team, the entire team!
We go here due to limited avian care options in Houston. Theyre pretty expensive (always spend around $500 or more) with healthy pets so Im scared of my bird ever getting sick.
Love my veterinarians, they are simply the best!! Thankyou
I have taken three dogs of varying ages, size and temperament to see Dr. Jordan: An 85lb Grayhound, a 10lb chihuahua and a very fiesty 14 year old chihuahua. Dr. Jordan and his staff were wonderful. Today, my 10 lb chihuahua went in for the first time. Demarcos spent over an hour with me explaining various vaccines and procedures and provided recommendations. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with my dog and myself. Demarcus is a Vet Technician. Not only is Dr. Jordan a fantastic vet, he employs a staff that is equally passionate and caring. Best vet practice ever!!Update 06/2021: I took my cat, Snowflake, to Dr. Kaplan-Stein, for vaccinations and a check up. She was so kind, patient and helpful. The vet tech, Maya (sp?) was extremely helpful, as well. Snowflake was nervous and had to be partially sedated so a full exam could be done. Dr. Kaplan-Stein was so thoughtful in caring for him. Thank you! Still BEST vet practice in Houston!!
My 14 year old granddaughter has a rabbit that she found in her neighborhood about four years ago. The rabbit had a cough or respiratory problem and was taken by her and her adult aunt to this animal clinic for treatment. I was out of town at the time but I told my grandaughter I would pay the vet’s bill. A female vet (Dr. Kaplan-Stein) told them that the rabbit needed a cat scan of its head. The total bill was $620.00. This was a scam because the cat scan did not provide data that was needed to prescribe the anti biotics which were given to us by the clinic. When I returned I called the vet who told me she was “well trained” and I am sure she was. But this about ethics and professional judgement.
Very helpful and friendly staff. If I need anything, even if its just advice through a phone call, theyre eager and willing to help.
Friendly, knowledgeable veterinarians. We have been taking our dogs here for years.
Be careful about misdiagnoses that result in misprescribed pharmaceuticals, non-treatment of the actual ailment and ultimately, the death of a sweet, lovable and devoted companion like the little girl which was unnecessarily lost thanks to this clinic. Then the owner of this clinic fails to take any responsibility but will pay for an autopsy so he can discover how badly his staff vet screwed up, but deny any culpability. RIP little girl. You will be missed forever. To hsve been so unlucky to have the worst staff vet in the world to treat her is just insane. At least she was quickly fired, and deservedly so. All of the above is true and fully documented.
This is an unbelievably fantastic veterinary clinic! The clinic is open and airy, and the staff is friendly and efficient.Frank, the canary, who hasnt been his normal cheery self lately, and I made the 23 mile journey to AMC of the village to have one of their avian vets see him. When we arrived, we were welcomed with a smile!Once ushered onto room, Demarcus, the vet tech came in and weighed Frank, and quickly noted symptoms into the computer. He too, was friendly and most pleasant. At this point I thought that it couldnt get any better......and I was wrong.Dr. Kaplan-Stein breezed in and went down the results of the lab test they had run. She actually sat down and we discussed Frank, and possible treatments.(Drum roll, please....) She spent 20 minutes with us, and answered my questions, and told me if I had any concerns about Frank and his treatment to call her. (WOW)After she left, Demarcus returned with the meds and explained how to administer them and then he walked me back out to the front desk.I have gone into careful detail so you will know what a gem this clinic is. If you have pets....this is a fabulous place. Dr.Jordan has always had an impeccible reputation, and this clinic of his is the gold standard of how a clinic should operate. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could, and Frank gives them 2 wings up!
Animal Medical Center of the Village has, time and again, gone above and beyond the call to help me and my furry critters out. Dr. Kaplan-Stein has worked with me on numerous occasions to ensure that my pets get the care they need. The new facility is spectacular, they have state of the art equipment, are well connected with other resources if they cannot meet your needs. Dr. Kaplan-Stein even spoke with specialty vets from LSU and the Houston Zoo to get the best possible advice for surgery on my guinea pig. I seriously couldnt ask for a better vet. And, when my other guinea pig became unexpectedly ill, they did everything they could for me. Sadly, he did not pull through. To my surprise, I received a note from the Arbor Foundation. Animal Medical Center had made a donation in my guinea pigs honor and a tree will be planted in a national forest with his name registered with it. Ive lost other animal companions over the years and never has a vet made such a meaningful and lasting impression on me in the way they handle this loss. Knowing that there is a lasting tribute to my baby means everything to me.
* 2019 UPDATE: This place deserves the highest praise. We had to say goodbye to our ratties and AMC went above and far, far beyond; they saved the ratties paw prints in clay as well as their tails in the shape of a heart, they donated trees as a lasting legacy, they lit a candle so the waiting room was aware of our difficult visit, and they were genuine. No rushing, thorough explanations, extremely respectful of our wishes (whether you wish to be present for euthanization or not, whether you wish to say goodbye afterwards or not, so on and so forth).~ 2018 review: We recommend Animal Medical Center to the utmost degree. So very happy we chose this place to help take care of our rattie furbabies. When we moved, we were saddened and nervous about leaving our previous veterinarian, but AMC and its staff are truly wonderful, devoted, and warm. The facility is very sharp looking, and they have a bird friend to boot! Refreshments also available. c:
I love how yall are so caring, sweet, taking care of my Kalezze every time i take him.
My dogs love to stay at the hotel. Everyone there loves them, too! We have been with Dan since the 1980s, when he was at Bellfort and Gessner.
Great experience start to finish. Moved here from another vet and couldnt be happier.
Always been great to my pets.
This places nurtured our 2 Male sugar gliders with that they did do a fantastic job which I have to give them that. But when we needed them the most because the mom had got her foot tangled on a Tuesday night and the soonest we were able to take her in due to lack of funds was Friday mind you my husband is a disabled vet and we our self have fallen on hard times and then this all happend with our girl! So by Thursday night she had started to to eat her foot and lost two toes and by that Friday morning and ate all 4 off. The reason I am upset with this place is because they took her to the back to look at it never let us back to see anything didnt have much info threw 3 different options at us to choose for her what should be done. The first was $499 which was just meds right away and all these xrays to see better at what we were dealing with. The other was $200 something to try just meds and to save the foot. The other was $566 for amputation. They gave us just enough hope that we could possibly save the foot but for them to know for sure they would need xrays. So basically they wanted us to pay $499 for them to get a better look at which they ALREADY KNEW it wasnt going to be saved so then we naturally would have had to amputate so add that $566 to it. Since neither me or my husband are a vet and just needed to have done what was best for our girl and them giving us false hope we went on and tried to save the foot. They said if it gets any discoloration to bring her in right away we would need to amputate. This is all Friday mind you! Ok so we take our girl home and by the next morning it was turning brown (discoloration) so we call them to get her in to get it amputated and they say ohh sorry we only do surgery during the week but you can bring her in and leave her with us over the weekend for observation UMM NO!!!! This is a sugar glider removing her from her family and leaving her in a strange place with strangers to watch her is not the way to go they wouldnt have done anything differently than what we were ALREADY DOING FOR HER! So basically they just wanted more money for no reason at all! Had we of known that if things went bad over the weekend nothing we could do till Monday we would have just amputated on Friday better her lose her foot than her life! So after frantically calling any and every vet we could seeing if there was any way possible we could get her in and being told no not till Monday we broke down and called safari pets back they said to bring her in for them to see it at least so we did. They examined her in a glass box right in front of us and told us quite a bit as to what they were physically seeing it with her moving around. Then took her back for gas to get and even better look at it. They informed us it for sure needed to go it wasnt getting good circulation their fear was that it would turn gain green. Imagine that they could actually tell some things without the need for xrays! Safari at least let us know that the village did give her the best meds she could be on which was working to keep the pain at bay which is why she wasnt eating on it anymore or messing with it so that was a plus and something they at least got right! But still the foot needed to go and should have on Friday. Since safari does surgery on Tuesday they set her up for then told us to keep her on the meds but that if by chance she did go to eating at it no matter what we could bring her in at any time and they would call the surgeon in to amputate right away! Thankfully she didnt go after it but it was still badly swollen and she was favoring it an awful lot like it just looked like it was painful to her poor thing :(. She had her surgery Tuesday and Im BEYOND thankful safari did it (who by the way was more affordable than this place)! When we picked her up we got great news the surgeon was able to save a good bit of her back pad so that when she heals she will have some cushion back there so they removed what needed to go with our girl in mind. Im 100% positive this place wouldnt have done that!
Excellent customer service and extraordinary care from the staff.
Best vet for exotic animals in Houston!!
