And no question - the RICE Village location is at the head seat of the boardroom. **Claudia C is amazing. She helped me get into a membership and is literally the only stylist to cut and fade, better than anyone ever. **Maria and **Erin at the front desk truly make the customer experience remarkable with their friendly and inviting demeanor. I’ve been to many barbershops and salons over the years, often times having to compromise the salon experience for the barbershop and/or vise versa; however the Boardroom figured it out. You’ll absolutely find it to be the best of any salon and barbershop experience, all in one.

I’ve been a member at Boardroom since 2016 and there’s a reason I’ve stuck around so long. I love this place. Rice Village is a great location. Everyone is super friendly and makes me feel welcome. Summer has been the perfect stylist for me for years and now she’s like family. That’s what you’ll get with a membership here. You find the perfect stylist and then it’s so easy. I haven’t had to tell her what to do for over 3 years now - I just sit down and relax and she does her thing. You can’t ask for more.

After several years of patronage, I will certainly not go back to toe the Boardroom . I have never seen such a unprofessional reception and management from a service business .

I initially had an appointment at the Washington location but circumstances cause my appointment time to be unavailable. Maria from the Washington location was very very nice and called me to inform me and even called all of the other locations to check if there were any slots I could get into. She offered this location and I gratefully accepted, not only did this happened but why also provided me with a free upgrade to the benchmark from the express cut on my next visit. This was my first time going to any boardroom location and I was not disappointed whatsoever. Summer was the receptionist who of course offered me a beverage while I waited, (she even came out afterwards to bring it to me because I left it behind on accident, just water of course). She was very sociable and enjoyable to talk to while I waited since I got there 45 minutes early. Valery was my stylist who both cut my hair and trimmed my beard. She is wonderful and made the entire experience. She helped me figure out exactly what look I wanted and was very enjoyable to talk to. Without a doubt if you want the best experience, go to Valery. I will be back for sure.

Good hair stylists but extremely poor coordination and communication at the front desk. Left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.

Wanted to try this place out. Showed up at 12:10 on a Sunday for haircut and the place isn’t open. Hours on the door say 12-5 and “walk-ins welcome.” Too bad I’ll have to go somewhere else.

Sherida has been cutting my hair here for the last 3 years. She’s the best! Tori in the front is very nice, she remembered how to pronounce my name (it’s the little things). Overall, this is a great place for a quality haircut. It is a bit pricey, but these prices are similar to other barbershops I had looked at before.

BUYERS BEWARE!I have been going to the boardroom for 4+ years. Purchasing a membership, and most issues seem to get corrected quickly. Unfortunately, the latest issue seems to continue to take place and I have had more than enough grace throughout this process. They push a membership on their clients, showing the savings of guarantee haircut within the membership terms. Where the issues starts is when they cancel your appointments. Due to COVID they had to rearrange my appointments and the stylist I got gave me a rushed haircut, basically I went from enough hair to tie into a ponytail to something I can’t describe (chopped up). I moved on to get back on schedule with a different stylist, who for the most part cleaned my hair up, but still had a few cancellations due to be out sick. Yes Finally, I got back with my pre-COVID barber and thought everything was going to be better. What’s unfortunate is that he also canceled multiple times. It was only a few weeks ago that he stated, “I make more on side jobs and unemployment, than I do cutting hair here due to the lousy schedule the boardroom has me on.” He then goes on to tell me that he will just call in if he only has a few clients. So last Friday I had scheduled to go to see him and he canceled. I couldn’t reschedule for Saturday, so I rescheduled for Sunday. He worked on Saturday, but again called in on Sunday. The boardroom has cancelled on my over 10 times in the last 6 months. What is the point of a membership if they cancel so frequently. I asked to speak to a manager or the owner over a week ago and they have not called. Their business practice is to get you locked in to a membership and once they have been paid they don’t care.

Not a good service, booked appointment as mentioned. They made me to wait for half an hour and they are not well trained to do a hair cut for long hair men.. Not professional enough. Don’t visit this at rice village.

Rico. Thats why this place gets my business. He is a fantastic, detail oriented, precise, affable barber. Im stretching a bit budget wise to come here, but I always leave with my hair and beard the way I want it. The atmosphere is very stately, and the reception service has always been exceptional. There are plenty of ways to spend money here, but if youre looking for top notch service, its worth the price of admission.

I have been coming to the boardroom salon for quite some time now. I enjoy the care and the professionalism I receive on every vist.Especially when I get to enjoy a nice cold brew while I wait. Summer has been an outstanding barber and has always given me a quality cut.I definitely would recommend trying this spot out. And if shes available, I would also suggest Summer as the the go to barber!

I was actually pleasantly surprised going in here today. Very cool laid back atmosphere and the barbers are fantastic. I was able to get the butcher job from my last cut fixed here. They actually take the time to get you the style you want. The Benchmark is something everyone needs to try at least once. Very Happy with this place and will be going again.

Rico and Erica give the best service, of course I am bias but they are only two I have tried being at rice village location. I feel like a king after they are finish with my haircut and express shave. I appreciate willingness to make sure I am satisfied with my haircut. Thank you guys maybe in the future i might try another stylist or barber but until that day i am happy with them.

Rico. Get Rico to trim your beard.He is extremely professional, friendly, and knows his stuff like no other. For me he used various trimmers, a utility balm, and a beard oil. I came in with a good idea of what I was looking for, and the trimming exceeded what I was aiming for by a good chunk.I am going to make sure I go through Houston a few times a year to get a beard rim from him. If he ever moves to Indiana or I move to the Texas Gulf area, I will get a trim by him at least once a month.

Grecia always has me looking good. Definitely recommend her and keep coming back.

Although I feel this place tries too hard to make it appear as if it were only for male executives (wood paneling, pool table, etc), I do like the particular hair stylist I use here. so, I give five stars to my stylist and three stars for ambiance to end up with an average of four stars. I should know that the price is here are certainly more expensive than the usual chains, such a Super Cuts and so on.

My experience here was absolutely amazing. A-1 service! I got my hair cut by James who was super chill, very experienced and an overall nice guy. My stylist was Kirsten, she was super sweet and styled my hair perfectly. This is where I will be going for now on! My first experience in a male salon was far better than I expected! Made the decision to try this place in the parking lot of a different barbershop. Id just moved to the area and hadnt been able to find a hair artist that would work with me and deliver exactly what I wanted. The last barber I had tried took a corner of my eyebrow during a lineup without telling me, so I decided to bite the bullet.Process was extremely easy, made a call and scheduled a cut for 15 minutes later. Staff was super courteous on the phone. Came and was greeted by the front desk and my hair artist. Wait time under 5 minutes. Erica communicated extremely well before starting, and asked questions during the cut to help me achieve exactly what I was after. 20-30 minutes later I got exactly what I had in mind, done with professional speed and a skilled eye for shapes and detail.Bottom line. Youre paying for a fantastic service experience, a sanitary relaxing process, a professional consultation, an artists eye, and most importanly a GREEEAT result! So in my opinion, youre paying a fair price.Considering a yearly membership.

Valerie is super good at cutting hair! Highly recommend coming here they are super kind and really care about you and your hair. All staff are friendly and caring. Kinda expensive but if you get regular cuts its worth it.

Great men’s salon! My new “go to” for everything from a quick trim, clean up to a full pampering! Nice relaxing atmosphere, NOT a high pressure sales salon. Friendly and helpful personnel from the front desk, ask for Lexi she’s awesome, to the stylists! AND you get a complimentary brewski or other beverage of your choice while enjoying being pampered!

I have only been here once but it was a great experience. Friendly staff all around. Great seating while you wait and a cold beer on top of that.I had a coupon for the upgraded haircut that came with some wax solution that they put your hand in. First time experiencing that and it was actually pretty cool. I would highly recommend this place if you are the type to spend money on a haircut. I typically am not but it is still a great place regardless.

I was not terribly impressed by their customer service here. Upon entry I was accosted by a nervous receptionist standing way closer to me than CDC guidelines and waving a thermometer in my face. She didnt seem confident using it, and when I asked when they had last cleaned it and with what I was initially met with blank stares.They later told me they clean the probe with EPA which isnt a cleaner I could find on Google but it was not all obvious they wipe it down between customers. The staff all kiss, hug, and stand next to each other - which is their right, but it makes the thermometer in your face entry moment odd.No one offered me a drink until I spoke even though they are meant to be complimentary.The hairdresser was a few minutes late, no biggy. But then when I finally was taken back, the hairdresser Amber seemed to have a mild attitude and then informed me that although Id requested the extra trimming service (nose/ear/unibrow) online exactly as Id been instructed when calling earlier, they couldnt do it today. I had made the appointment days ago and no one bothered to write or call and tell me this. The main reason I decided to pay extra for this place instead of e.g. Sportsclips is because I assumed they offered more of these mens barbershop-like services. Then the hairdresser, who I was earlier told was the single most experienced barber in the place (most I was told have been working there now less than a year) was surly and passive aggressive when I explained this and why I would need to cancel because of it. Honestly, this is awful customer service and an unprofessional and unwelcoming experience all round. I dont see the point of coming here except for the location (it was in walking distance from me) and maybe the decor.

Mattie did a great job with a buddy cut for my son, and an express cut and beard trim for me. She knows what she is doing, offers good styling suggestions, and pays close attention to detail. We had a great experience and we highly recommend Mattie and the Boardroom salon.

This salon looks awesome, offers great customer service, and most importantly the haircut was great! I would say this is a pretty great value for everything provided.I brought my brother here while he was visiting from San Francisco and he loved it. We only had enough time for the express service but if you have time for the full service it is definitely worth it.They also carry great products like Jack Black, St James of London, and Beardbrand. With a small beer selection and pool table right in the middle of the salon, there’s not much more they could do to win your service!

Great salon and caring service. I’ve tried many places in town and these folks do an excellent job, convenient booking, reasonable price and beer to boot! The membership makes it a steal.Ask for Az if you like the classic straight razor and extra care. Ask for Erika or Jessica if you want a pro that can get you in and out quick while making sure details aren’t missed. Overall a great staff and experience, keep up the good work.

Since moving to an annual membership, my regular visits have become my preferred stress-release, and theyve won my business for the foreseeable future.My superb experience begins when I first call to book my appointment. Christina leads a staff that is courteous, professional, and efficient. Upon my arrival, Im greeted warmly, offered a beverage (I favor either Shiner or coffee depending on the time of day), my jacket is taken, and Im seated in a leather chair to enjoy the game on TV until my appointment time.The absolute highlight of my visit is the time I spend with my stylist Lanie. Despite being in high demand, she is always prompt and on-time. She is a true expert as both a stylist and conversationalist, and the miniature spa services she provides as part of the Benchmark are a delight. She has never failed to exceed my expectations with either the haircut or services.I would highly recommend the Boardroom (and the Rice Village location in particular) to any men looking to invest in either elevating their style or adding an indulgence to their weekly routine.

I always had a great time spending time at The Boardroom in Rice Village. It was always clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The only reason that I dont go there anymore is because the stylist that cut my hair no longer works there. I recommend stopping in and enjoying a cold beverage while you wait to get your hair taken care of.

I was a little nervous going in as this was a hairdresser I was unfamiliar with, which was Mattie. I have been to this location many times, but my usual hairdresser had moved up. I generally explained what I wanted done, 3 on the sides, trim on top. Things went very well during the haircut. Not a lot of small talk which is preferred by me. She left the top a bit longer than what my other haircuts have been, but honestly it looked so much better. Always enjoy coming here and would recommend it. Mattie was very knowledgable and professional.

Had a great first time experience here today. The beard trim was pricey ($25 when you dont combine it with a haircut), but it was also the best beard trim Ive ever gotten. Im extremely pleased with what Amber did for me.

Ive had mixed results here. Their staff turnover is really bad. They offer a membership that is competitive, but expect to need to find a new stylist at least every 3 months.

Ive been an executive member going on three years. I go every two weeks whether I need to or not. Love the Benchmarks--they really center me and its the only real pampering I ever indulge in. I have one very favorite stylist, but I have also had great experiences with others there when I couldnt manage to schedule my first pick. I dont envision having my hair cut anywhere else in Houston. Great business model and great people.

I went yesterday for the Express cut which is about 43 dollars, and had my haircut with Summer. It was definitely the best haircut I had here in Houston. I have tried Cutloose, The Argyle League, and others, but this time at The Boardroom was the best experience so far. Summer is extremely talented and was able to do everything I expected and even more. I will definitely come back with her every time from now on and would recommend her to anybody searching for a great haircut,

Had my haircut by Erika recently and its the best haircut Ive had in years. This place is expensive ($40 / haircut) but the stylists here are so much better than you will typically find at someplace cheaper (great clips, etc...) so imo its worth it. Seating areas nice and everything else, but what keeps me coming back is the skill of the stylists.I showed her some pictures and made the style work perfectly with my head shape and hair type. Took her time and was asking for feedback throughout which I really liked.

Had a fantastic shave from Rico. Perhaps the best shave ever. Rico was extremely professional, knowlegable and friendly. Do yourself a favor book a shave from Rico you wont regret it.

First time in and definitely won’t be the last. My friend and I went a few weeks ago and we both enjoyed the over the top service... never been to a place just for guys. I got the presidential and it was amazing Ericka think I spelled it right. She was great super professional and very knowledgeable on the products that she used on me... felt like a hole new man walking out and the free beer was a nice touch... will be back soon almost time for another haircut.

This is probably one of the few, if not only, places where I can get a great hair cut consistently! Priced high relative to any old haircut, the cost is actually worth the services provided. I wouldnt choose any other place to get my fussy hair taken care of!

I am a regular at the boardroom on McKinney in Dallas. We were in MD Anderson near Rice Village and called the Boardroom to see if someone could give my husband a haircut and beard trim. Gia came to our rescue without hesitation and was very patient. She gave him a haircut and beard trim here in the hospital. So grateful for Gia and the Boardroom.

Got a very bad hair cut and beard trim from an inexperienced barber here. Clumsy, really uneven everywhere. I didnt want to cause a scene so I called afterwards and asked to schedule another appointment to try to fix my hair (which, by the way, now needs to be cut way shorter than I originally wanted), they said theyd call me right back after speaking to the manager.Im still waiting on that call, which has disappointed me further as I cant walk around like this. I guess Ill go someplace else. Given how expensive this place is I really expected much better.Update: board room management contacted me and respectfully offered me a comp haircut in the future. Bumping up to two stars for this reason, and will revisit after my next visit

I have been going to Sherida for over 2 years now and she does as good a job as anyone I have ever gone to in LA or Nashville. I’m picky about my hair and it took me a while to find the right place in Houston. I highly recommend the Boardroom Salon!

Deceiving, unhelpful, unsympathetic and ultra ultra expensive!I went there after checking their prices from Google thinking I will be paying something around 25-30$ for a simple 5-minute trimmer-only hair cut and 1-minute beard trim. They charged me 52$! They said that a 40$ is their least expensive haircut even for a bald guy. Although they should have substituted the not-done shampoo included in the price with the beard trimming price, they still took the extra 12$ for a 1-minute beard trim.I am practically a bald guy how gets hair on the sides and on the neck. All my 40$ hair cut consisted of a no.1 trimmer and 5 minutes of single height trimming of my hair ..and lots of chatting.When I told the front desk that this was not the price I was expecting and showed them the website, they did nothing with my complaints. After all this still they found the courage to ask for a tip! If you are charging 3-4 times the price for your services than you should be, please go tip your own staff with that money!I cant believe I was fooled by these people and I cant believe they didnt show any effort to do any single thing right! I will never go there again, not even to get my 12$ back.ONE STAR RATING because there is no ZERO STAR.UPDATE: After my review, someone from Boardroom Saloon contacted me and very politely apologized. No questions asked they have refunded all my money. They also offered me a yearly subscription. Thank you for the offer, I am not planning to go back at all. Still it is nice for them to offer it. Since I could find at least one person that cares about the customer even just a little, I have changed my rating from one star to three stars.

Getting the full treatment is a great release that borders on a mans spa day. You get pampered, cleaned up, and doted on, while getting what you pay for.
