These are the best mechanics in Texas...Period! Bobby took on my applications to my new Dodge Ram Rebel and then some quickly and professionally! Bobby and his crew standby their work and he has taken care of my trucks, fiat, Camaro and Porsches over 12 years. He is super busy so not always the fastest but he has never over sold and talked me out of many expensive alternatives.

Tech Auto is truly a special place. Aesthetically it is the prime example of what a real auto shop should look like; surrounded by classic cars and great people. I live in the neighborhood and have always enjoyed passing by. It always had a good feeling around it, for instance, I feel like if I were a kid and my radio flyer wagon wheel fell off, these fine folks would help me out. So, when it was time to get my shocks and struts replaced on my truck this is first and only place I called. The staff are amazingly straight up real people-smart, honest, kind and genuine. I got a written quote on the spot with an incredible price, tossed them my keys and all was easy. I truly wholeheartedly love this place.

Spent over $7,000 to have a 76 Bronco restored here. It was supposed to be $5,000 but they managed to find other things that supposedly needed to be fixed. Prior to the restoration, the vehicle was generally fine but we did not use it much. I took it to Tech Auto because I wanted to make it safer and more reliable for my son to use it in college. Literally. I mean literally weve had nothing but problems since Bobby started working on the vehicle. When we first picked it up, the steering was so screwed up it was too dangerous to drive. Took it back and he added a stabilizer bar (for an additional charge of course). Then a radiator hose burst because pulley cut through it. This was all within a week. The Bronco ran OK for a month or two. Then the carburetor Bobby rebuilt started leaking gas while my son was driving the car. Keep in mind this car barely gets driven. My son noticed smoke coming from the engine, pulled over into a closed gas station and found the carburetor had flames coming out of it. He used the only water available (from the windshield wiper basin) and put the fire out. Im guessing the car was a few minutes from being a total fire loss. My son had to have it towed and we had to replace the carburetor.When the Bronco wouldnt start recently, Bobby told us he had to replace the battery, the cables and alternator. $900! The next day the Bronco broke down on the highway. Bobby said he would tow it back and fix it. He had the audacity to charge me $150 for the tow and then another $500 for a fuel pump. We actually could have had AAA tow it but didnt bother since Bobby had said he would cover it. But then when we picked up the car he went back on his word. The very next day the Bronco was making a new clicking noise we had never heard. Now it wont start and the oil has leaked out - making a huge mess and requiring yet another tow. The vehicle was taken to Colvin Auto in Austin. The news today is that the fuel pump, the very one Bobby just installed, is no good. So, since Bobby restored our Bronco only one year ago, weve had to have it towed four times! I think this guy is not only incompetent but took advantage of my generosity to pay a large sum to get the Bronco restored. I hardly argued when he added on something because I thought he was going to make it right. It has been the opposite. Furthermore, Bobby rarely returns phone messages and you have to call multiple times or just go over there to get an answer. Maybe his work was decent at one point but I will NEVER return. He clearly knows a lot about Broncos but the quality of work is horrible. I should have figured it out sooner but kept thinking the guy would have a conscience and fix what he broke. Not a chance.Honestly, I could not possibly make this up. I would strongly advise people to never take their car to this place. FYI - This is the first review I have ever submitted in my life. Im only doing this now because my experience with Tech Auto has been so incredibly bad. Take your restoration projects elsewhere.

We were recommended this shop by our neighbors who previously used it to repair their cars there. Before going i called to different companies and all were saying the store will keep my car for few days. These guys asked me to come, saw the problem in 30min and in 3hours I got my car repaired (AC coolant reservoir) for a very good rate ! This place will be # 1 to call next time and I highly recommend this place

I came here with a question about some DIY work I’ve been doing on my car. Bobby was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions, then went above and beyond by driving my car and using a scan tool to give me more detailed information. Amazing customer service!

Two visits to this shop have saved me over $4,000 compared to the dealer repair on my Toyota.The first instance....maintenance light on and hard starting. Toyota dealership says I need a new O2 sensor, new catalytic converters. Thousands of dollars. But I know enough about cars that cat converter failure is not going to cause hard starts. Something else going on.I stop at a local shop that works on European imports. The team is sitting eating lunch. I tell them I have a tough problem with my Toyota. Older gentleman with thick German accent tells me they only work on European cars, but recommends Tech Auto.I tell them I need someone competent, and the entire group starts laughing at me. Older gentlemen kindly tells me that I have nothing to worry about at that place .Drove right there. Within 2-3 hours, they determined that I had 4 fuel injectors leaking fuel ( I knew this as my OBD2 monitor showed longterm adjustment on fuel to lower feed rate.)They found a reliable source quality rebuilt injectors at a fraction of OEM price.They didnt press me on changing out the Catalytic converters (very expensive), and recommended I drive it for a couple weeks and see if cat error clears.It has been over a year, starts great, runs great and cat converters no longer throwing errors.**********Fast forward to last week. Minivan has a rain water leak in rear hatch, flooding interior. There is a rubber electrical boot that feeds cables into rear hatch. Camera installer had damaged it. Toyota tells me that the part will take a month to get in, and installed, will cost $1k. Why did I ever go there after last experience?Back to Tech Auto, and in 45 minutes it is fixed. And upon inspection, a very clever professional fix by someone skilled. And it cost me like nothing.*********Just pulling into their repair yard reveals many vintage cars, Broncos etc in various stages of restoration. These are a group of guys who just love cars.What more can I say...

Good service but almost 3 x the cost compared to the Ikea dealership for an oil change.

I took my car in to get the front brakes replaced. They priced me $500, and sold me parts I didnt even need, like the rotors which were paper thin and work. I instead then replaced the brakes myself for only $21. The rotors were perfectly fine. This place has criminal pricing, dont go here if you want a fair deal.

I have done business with Bobby ever since he opened his shop here. Some people say he is high with his prices, but I beg to differ. His labor rates are along with everyone else. His parts prices are the same if not better than others. Some other shops try to Con you in with free towing and free diagnostics if they do the work. Believe me, they make up for it SOME way. With Bobbys crew, you pay for what you get, nothing more, nothing less. As with ANY mechanic you deal with, there will be issues, its how they are handled that makes the difference. On the VERY RARE occasions that I have had an issue, Bobby took care of it IMMEDIATELY. Most importantly, he is honest and his mechanics are honest. If they fix something, it was broke. As far as Bobby being a kind mechanic, thats between him and me. LOL!!! I will not take my vehicles ANY where else.

Bobby is the most honest and kind mechanic Ive had the pleasure of dealing with. I moved across town and will still go to his shop and nowhere else. Its not easy to find a great mechanic.

Outrageous prices. Charged me $128 for a diagnosis just to tell me that exact thing I told them when I walked in the door. They called with the diagnosis and used a different name for the part to make it seem like a much different problem than I told them. Wanted to charge $400+ for something I just fixed with $45 and 30 minutes. Don’t go here. They will rob you.

Provided exceptional service... actually Bobby was hero for my day!!! Needed some early morning local assistance and they were prompt and simply GREAT!! Would highly recommend them. Will use them any time I have mechanical need in Houston!

Tech auto lost my business after my last visit. They did a very poor install on a new steering box bracket and didnt install all the bolts on my steering box which is an obvious safety issue. They also didnt return to me the left over parts from the bracket and they put some ugly mud dobber looking welds on my Jeeps frame.

These guys know what theyre doing; from exotic to a regular old truck, these guys can do it all. No hiccups, and very helpful. Stay away from Firestone (down the road on Washington) and give these guys a shot.

I called them for a quote last week on a repair, then called back today to have my vehicle towed to their facility. I called around 4:50pm and the gentleman said he would have his tow truck driver call me to pick up the car (which is .9 mile away from shop). It is now 5:57 pm and still, no phone call. I will try again tomorrow and hopefully there will be no issues. Id rather support a local business.Update: Had my car back in less than 24hrs!The greatest thing is that it drives better and all that was needed was an alternator and battery!Shout out to Jaime for being a fellow vet of the Navy!

AutoDoc owner Dave on Montrose recommended this shop as arbiter of his shoddy AC work blowing 55f vent temp for specd 40f. Showed up right after 4th visit to Autodoc just to be ignored. Guilt by association.
