Returned the car on time but forgot to press end reservation and ended up being over charged. I called multiple times to have this fixed since it was a simple mistake that should be fixed. Each time I called they would pick up the phone but would not help me, each time they would say that they would contact me but would never call me and when I would call them again since the problem wasn’t being fixed they would say the same thing and never actually do anything to help. It wasn’t a small amount of money I was overcharge for too. It is a pretty good amount and the fact that they are so slow to do their job is beyond frustrating.

What a great experience! Before traveling to Honolulu we managed to find a Hui parking lot near the hotel we were staying at and were able to reserve a vehicle for two days. The reserved parking spot was of course convenient and saved us quite a bit in parking costs, we also fueled up with the gas card which was a seamless process and had no issues to report of! Only two things to point out: 1) the vehicle was mildly dirty when we picked it up, and out of an abundance of caution we pointed it out via the app before we were on our way. The next morning it was clear someone had been in the vehicle overnight because of the seat positioning, and then we noticed that the vehicle had been washed and detailed inside. Certainly a nice touch and since we were not sure whether this was because of the pictures we had shared, or if this is a routine nightly occurrence, it would have been nice to be notified either via the app or with a note inside to acknowledge that this was happening/had happened. But definitely no complaint here! 2) there is no GPS or apple car play and we found that sometimes when the phone was not attended to for a while, and I guess the app shut down, we would randomly get the vehicle notification of the key missing... while we were driving... unlocking the phone and reengaging the app seemed to solve this.... so just an FYI!

With the rental car situation out of control in Hawaii I thought I found a saving grace to get around the island. I sought out an escape from the city to be able to process the grief of recently losing my mother but what I got was more heart ache and pain. Getting the car was super easy and honestly pretty brilliant. Instructions would have been nice but not a big deal if you have some common sense.Where the nightmare began was a few hours into having the car when the back window was smashed in and my belongings in the trunk were stolen. I called HUI multiple times and was told by their answering service that there wasn’t anything they could do to help. I indicated we had no food or water as it was stolen out of the car, even then there was no sense of urgency. Once the local law enforcement arrived, the urged me to return the car back to where I got it. About an hour later I got a call from whom I presume is the actual owner of the car who laughed off the incident, indicating this happens frequently. I asked what my next steps are and she said not to worry, they’ll call me tomorrow. THEY NEVER CALLED.Instead I got a $1,000 hold put on my card with an email indicating that in section 7 of the agreement it states I’m liable for the damage. It also states in section 7.3 that there is an exception if the person renting the car has contacted HUI and the police to report the incident in 24 hours which I did.I am so glad I cancelled the other reservations I had because it could happen again. Theft and vehicle break ins is KNOWN on the island and the HUI sticker basically paints a target on your back. Unless you have disposable income I would not recommend using their services. You’ll be sorry when you did.

I always rent my cars through HUI when visiting Hawaii. The process is seamless. You never have to wait in line to drop off or pick up your car as you just book with your cell phone app and unlock car via bluetooth with your phone. I also love that everything is included in the price, including gas and insurance. Also it had an assigned parking stall at the location I rented from so I never had to pay for parking. Mahalo for being a great alternative to the big rental car companies.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. We were unable to get into the car because the app failed to work and unlock the car for us. The app is incredibly buggy and barely works. We called customer service around 10 times and were only able to get someone on the line once. That conversation was entirely unhelpful. The rep clearly had no idea how to solve the issue and we were told a tech person would call us back to help. We waited by the car for two hours. No call came. During this time, we came across two other groups who were unable to get their app to work, unable to get into their car, and unable to get in touch with support. Ultimately we gave up and left to make new plans for the day that didnt require a car. We had to reschedule other tours that we had planned for the day because Hui completely let us down.

This was an amazing experience! We got a Prius hybrid for 4 days and it was the easiest “renting” experience I’ve ever had! The car was clean, the app is easy to use, and the gas card is just an awesome perk! Easy pick up and drop off! Will use again the next time I’m on Oahu!

We had a great Hui car experience. It was sooo convenient, and easy! We had to gas up too, and found that process to be simple and straightforward. (Provided the previous driver leaves the gas card where its supposed to be! We had to hunt a while to locate.)A couple of caveats: we booked in advance and had no issues. Tried to book again on short notice and there was no availability. And Im defining short notice as 48-72 hours. Also, customer support line is only available during normal business hours. Thats just unacceptable--Hui, what the hell? Luckily our concern was quickly resolved, but had it been more serious our entire perception of Hui could be different. Pick up/Drop off locations were plentiful and conveniently located **in Waikiki,** I cannot speak to other locations. They could have been a little easier to spot in my opinion. You can find the dot on the map easily enough but perhaps some street level signage pointing to the parking garage would be helpful for the likely tourist clientele. *I DID notice exactly this at some locations, but coincidentally not at our particular pick up spots.Overall a very positive experience with Hui. Would absolutely use again AND recommend to others. Just be sure to book in advance.

This was a great experience. We rented a Prius and Lexus. Both cars were easy to find locations. This was a great affordable alternative instead of having a rental car everyday that you probably would not use. Thanks HUI!!!

Once you get pass the initial sign up which can be challenging, and with ridiculously little customer service support. The customer service is very attentive and helpful. Finding the car was a little difficult as signage was not obvious and facing away from where we were walking, so walked right past the vehicle quite a distance. However, once we got the car reserved, found it and got in (with help from a live customer service rep), it was a very pleasant experience. With the shortage of rental cars and ridiculous pricing as a result Hui is a great alternative. My recommendation is to plan ahead and get your account set up way in advance of needing a vehicle.

I used Hui for 5 days and it worked perfectly every time. The gas card is easy to use and I had no problems filling the car up at Hele, though you can go to any gas station except for Costco and Sams Club. There are bad reviews of the app not working to unlock the car and I was nervous about this since you need to have cell service to connect to car. However, I went all over Oahu (Kualoa ranch, Makapuu lighthouse hike, Koko head, Eternity beach, pupukea beach, PCC, Dole, Haleiwa, North shore beaches, etc.) and was able to unlock/lock the car (I have verizon). I like that you can cancel on short notice in case your plans change and its also one of the cheapest options since you dont have to pay for parking. Hui and Turo are the best rental car options and I would definitely use Hui again.

AMAZING game-changer for car rentals. Would love to see this kind of thing available everywhere. We needed a car for an afternoon and paid about $25. I was tempted to take a point off for the anxiety I felt with being completely keyless, but you get used to it quickly and the reality is that this is an awesome technology that all cars should have from now on. Whats frustrating is that you really have to look for Hui on Google Maps or other services. Its worth the hunt: Hui is incredible.

Rented with Hui 3 times while on vacation- process was nearly seamless. Accidentally forgot my wallet in the car after I ended my reservation and with the help of customer service and the next renting customer, the problem was solved in 15 minutes.

The system is great....when it actually works. Its 100% app based..no emails...no phone communication...no live person that can actually help when needed. We had a car rented to run some errands for the day. Upon arrival the app had crashed and there was literally no way at all to pick up our truck. After an hour of standing beside the truck and calling over and over not getting anyone on the line and sending numerous emails only to never receive a response...I walked away without a rental and had to use uber instead for the day. Later in the afternoon when my so called rental time expired, I was charged for the truck I couldnt even access. Thankfully after 4 phone calls, disputing with my bank and 2 emails..they refunded me. Take 2...we tried again when the app was up and working (praying it wouldnt crash again). Picked up our truck for the errands Uber couldnt help us with. Helpful instructions via email would be nice and highly recommended for first time users. Took us 10 minutes to figure out exactly how it worked. The app is slow to recognize your phone and the vehicle...be prepared to stand outside the vehicle for about 1-3 minutes before the app will allow you to unlock the vehicle. Make sure your phone is completely charged!!! It runs solely on your phone to unlock and allow the vehicle to start...also helpful information as my phone had only 30% battery life. I am not sure that I would rely on this for a day of excursions as the app is so finicky and as learned...can leave you stranded and they have no customer service to answer the phones and help you out. Just an answering service that is really no help at all and is best to just not answer the call. I would absolutely recommend to the developers, managers whomever that they need alternate means of communication and not rely solely on the app. A welcome to your car email and how to operate would be helpful for first time users, actual staff that can answer the phone and help when called upon. While the 2nd go around for us was successful...still rather leary of it.

Scheduled an entire day around the car rental and when I went out of the way to get to the car at 6 in the morning yet it wasn’t even there and the app says that “they’ve found a conflict with our reservation”. I’m currently stranded far away from my hotel and won’t be able to complete any of the plans I have for today. Think customer support can help? Not in the morning. They only answer calls at 8 AM to 5 PM. On top of all of this, my credit card was still charged for the time I booked it out. Save yourself the hassle by NOT booking or planning on Hui for your car reservations. Stick to a traditional car rental even if it’s more expensive because it’s something you can actually count on.

The Hui web site looked very promising - reasonable rates and cars in many places. I signed up. After signing up there were no cars available anywhere in the near future. In the distant future cars were 50% more expensive than advertised on their web site, $15 per hour instead of $10 or about $115 / day, double the cost of the Enterprise rental alternative. Hui wasted a lot of my time.

This business is a scam. It’s extremely unorganized and is meant to try to steal your money. They say it’s $10.50 an hour but their intention is to try to steal the “$100 hold” they place on your account. Do not trust this company. The whole point is to get you to rent a car for an hour or LESS knowing Hawaii has horrible traffic to insure they can take as much money from you from their “inconvenience fee.” They don’t have a set fee. They just threaten to charge “up to $500” and then charge you the amount of the $100 hold. THEY ARE SCAMMERS.

Check the app for a nearby car. Once youve registered by uploading a photo of yourself holding your drivers license, and giving your information, its pretty much that easy. Rent by the hour!

I never take the time to leave negative reviews. But in this case, this is the worst customer service, I have ever experienced. 4 phone calls, placed on hold for 2+ hours, a month has passed and still no support.Save yourself the trouble and go with a real rental car company.

I was a little skeptical at first. I’ve never heard of this place until I was walking around Hawaii and say one of their signs by a car. I was tired of walking just in my area and uber and lyfts are some expensive I decided to give it a try. I wasn’t sure if they would allow me since I was only 19 at the time. But after reading all the FAQs on their website, I was a little less worried. I reserved a car. I was a little confused when I got there. I didn’t know how it worked. But after I figured it out, it was smooth sailing. It’s uses Bluetooth in replacement of a key. You can lock and unlock the car with it. It was pretty cool and I am so glad I rented with them. I had a few questions and their staff was super helpful and efficient. I am more than happy with my experience and will definitely rent from them!
