On a recent vacation to Hilton Head, our check engine light came on and our van was not running right. Island Tire & Auto was recommended by the local parts store, and Im so glad we went there. They got us in quickly, took the time to diagnose the issue (its been ongoing) and really cared about getting it right so we could get home. Debbie at the front desk kept us updated throughout and John, the mechanic, took the time to thoroughly explain everything to me. We made it home with no trouble and the car is running great. Our new-to-us minivan was showing an electrical system fault the day before we were heading back home 1000 miles. We brought it to island tire. The owner thought it was likely a problem with the auxiliary battery rather than the main system but just to be safe he had a system check run. 15 minutes later he showed us the report that the main system checked out fine. Very disappointed brought some 4 wheeler rims and tires to them to be put on and came back scratched pretty bad. Not only scratched but there are graphics on rims just a line that runs around rim but still if the guy who did the switching took a few more seconds maybe the graphics would still be intacked.I will probably find somewhere else to do the tire switching from now on.THUMBS DOWN

I previously took my car to a dealership to diagnosis what to me seem like text book wheel bearing problems. Since I live on the Island I didnt want to keep making the trip out to Okatie to have my car worked on so I started to research places on the Island. This car shop had good reviews and seemed local so I went with Island Tire & Automotive Services in the North End. I dropped off my Ford Fiesta on Thursday to be worked on, later on that day I received a phone call that I did need my front wheel bearings replaced and my brake pads, totaling over $1,200. I asked to have the wheel bearings replaced now and I would come in later in the month for my brake pads, now totaling roughly $700. I picked my car up this morning and I had two dashboard lights on that have never been displayed in my 6 years of owning my Fiesta. I also had a message on the center console saying my hill assist was turned off, again I have never seen this message in my many years of owning this car. As I started to drive away from the shop on Saturday after I noticed that it seems the spark plugs were misfiring. I looked at my paperwork and it said I needed to have my spark plugs replaced but I am confused how this was discovered because I never asked for engine work on my car. I am confused as to why my engine was worked on and frustrated that my engine was working perfectly before I took my car into the shop. I tried calling for an hour and left two voicemails but no one responded despite them being open until noon on Saturdays. I took my car in to get my wheel bearings fixed and left with multiple problems that were not there before I took my car to this place. I would highly suggest for people to steer clear from this place. I now have a car that has engine problems and mysterious dashboard lights on, Id rather dealt with the wheel bearings or the long drive out to Okatie to the dealer.

Just so happens that at the very beginning of my anniversary trip, the axel in my car broke. Luckily some of the locals stopped to make sure that we were okay and directed us toward island tire. After getting a tow truck to come pick up my car, they had everything fixed within two days. After my vacation was finally ending, we ended up going back and getting more repairs before heading home. (Just basically getting a once over before heading 700 miles home.) They were always so friendly and caring! One of the best places and people I have ever met. 5 star rating will never be enough to show the gratitude we have for them.

Went in because I was having transmission trouble on my trip down from PA. The staff were incredibly helpful and gave a great suggestion based off what would be good for the car and not just monetary gain. I really appreciated it and I hope more auto shops would follow example.

Island tire North is one of the best places for good, honest, and fair priced repair of your auto. I have a 2005 Thunderbird and they had the experience and expertise to replace all my catalytic converters, and also repaired and replaced the hydraulic and mechanical system in the top. Highly recommended!

We drove down from PA so I wanted to get the car checked over for the drive home. I called them and made an appointment that day. I took it in and they gave me a full inspection, checked fluid levels, tires, brakes, etc. The guy at the front counter was very nice. I was in and out in 45 min. I would recommend going here...very reasonably priced!

I had new tires installed yesterday and noticed I had a flat from a faulty valve stem. I called multiple places for quotes and got the best one from Island tire. I went there and the friendly staff had my tire fixed in less than 10 minutes. They took really good care of me and were extremely helpful. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Ive been to both Island Tire locations on the island and always have a great experience. I got 2 flats in the same week, for the first one I went to the south end location and they fixed it right up in no time. For the last flat, I went to their north end location and they were able to patch the tire and install some new lug nuts on all of my tires that I provided them with, at no additional cost! Mark was very pleasant, he took excellent care of my vehicle. I highly recommend Island Tire and will send friends and family their way with any mechanical concerns. Thank you!

When it comes to auto repair I am always hesitant about giving reviews, so I wait just to be certain. That being said, I could not be more satisfied or grateful for the professionalism and courtesy of the Island Tire & Automotive Services staff. They were honest, they were patient in explaining the mechanical aspect to me but most of all their customer services is what separates them for any other place I have taken my car on island. If you dont know where to take your car, if you are visiting or from out of town, or even if youre looking for a second opinion I absolutely recommend going here.

After driving to HHI to escape winter in Wisconsin I detected a severe grinding sound in my driver side rear brake. From experience I realized that pads & rotor were shot. I called Island Tire and they told me to bring it right in. They determined what parts they needed and ordered them. They got me in the following day and within 3 hours I was good as new. I want to thank Berry and Mark for their willingness to help and the professional manner in which they serviced my vehicle.

I cant recommend this business high enough. I have a condo at HHI and was in for a visit. My Jeep starting making a racket from the rear. I had just paid the dealer in my hometown 1200 to fix the brakes. I took it in to Island Tire early one morning after I had the problem. THey had good ratings and were only abut a mile from my condo. Within 2.5 hours they let me know that my caliper just had a bolt that had backed out of it and was the reason for the noise. (Probably my local dealership didnt appropriately tighten) Charge to fix- $29. I offered 100 and was refused. We agreed on 40. Honesty and integrity. You can trust them!!!!

Had a front brake issue with our van while on vacation. A quick search on google led us to Island Tire North, who quickly had us diagnosed and done in the same day. Kudos to Jim for driving me back to our condo, then coming to get me later in the day (versus a cab fare) to get our van. Thanks for helping us out!

Had a dead battery on Monday of vacation week. The service who jumped us recommended going to Island Tire to check the battery. After arriving and explaining the issue, the tech took the vehicle in and within a few minutes, diagnosed the issue and replaced the battery. I then received a detailed explanation on what they found as well as all of the warranty info on the new battery. Although dealing with car issues is the last thing you want to do on vacation, I am very happy these guys were around and could take care of the issue in a fast and courteous fashion. Would recommend them anytime.

My CR-V had a vibrations after spend 1000$ on tires. Went back twice for them to make it right. They then told me my rim is bent. For those that know what Im talking about road force variation would be off the charts if that was the case. And the balancer might make a few beeps at you lol never going back.

Love the guys at the North End Island Tire & Automotive Services. I dropped my car off for a oil change and a tire rotation and other preventative maintenance. They then drove me back home so I didnt have to wait. They also picked me up when my car was ready. What great service!They took the time to show me all the things that needed to be addressed down the road so that I could make a plan for maintaining my car. Since my husband passed away this has now become my responsibility. They have really helped make this easy.

Waste of my time, wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there. Charged an extra amount on tires, was told it was a glitch when rang up. Charged TPMS ( tire pressure indicator), my truck is a 1993. Really? . Excuse it was an automatic charge that has to be removed. Charged for an extra set of bushings that weren’t even installed on my truck. Even gave them a second chance to resolve the issues. 11 days not one thing done to my vehicle. Excuse is they are backed up in work. I already payed for my work to be done, should maybe be a priority. Not once was an apology given or explanation why I was overcharged. Just acted like it was normal.

Called Island Tire & Automotive this morning with a squeaking noise coming from under my car. They agreed to fit me in at 9:30am. I arrived at their garage at 11:30 and had trouble finding a parking spot because they were so busy. They still fit me in right away. Drove my car. Put it on a lift. Found road debris around my drive shaft; then inspected all of my wheels, brake, ball joints, steering and suspension connections. They then drove my car again to confirm all observed conditions and had me on my way in 45 minuets; and for 50 bucks. Great job. Very accommodating. Friendly. Tomorrow I will be driving home (200 miles) with confidence thanks to these guys.

They completely tried to rip me off by giving me a quote of $1400 to fix my thermostat & water pump on a 2007 suv! I had two separate mechanics look at it and they BOTH gave me a quote of $400 with a 1 year warranty! Also, when they changed my oil they did not bold my underbody shield/tray back on properly so it was dragging the ground the next day. I called to let them know and the one guy that usually answers the phone is always rude!!!!!!!! I would stay far away from this company if you dont want to get scammed financially.

I was traveling to Hilton Head Island for work when my AC fan started sounding like a jet taking off. I came to Island Tire on a Friday with no appointment, and these guys fixed the problem in under 20 minutes and without breaking the bank. Glad I found them.

After being at our vacation house for about an hour our granddaughter discovered she had a flat tire. Her parents had a warranty on the tires and Island tire honored the warranty and even towed her car to repair. They were prompt, courteous and very professional. It was such a pleasant experience working with the people at Island Tire!

I dont have to visit Island Tire very often, but when I do, the people who work there are friendly, courteous, and efficient in handling problems. I had an emergency this morning, and Jim took great care of me, worked my car into the schedule, and had my tire repaired for an extremely reasonable price. Great service from all involved.

From the nail position, it is borderline needs a new tire and most tire shop will elect you to do that. However, they dont mind the hassle and want to give a shot to patch it so it saves me at least $200....and it worked. Drove it for 7 hours back home without issue. This is what it called from a bad day to good day.

Before going ahead and ordering a new tire for me they told me I should call the dealership to see if my tires were still under warrantee. With a huge piece of metal in my tire I hadnt considered checking on that. They ended up saving me a lot of money, sending me out the door to another place. Very nice of them!

Even though we were visitors at this location, they were so generous, kind and professional for us to use their lift to fix a panel that fell, tied back together and didnt even charge us anything! So grateful for their service and kindness! Would visit if we ever have another problem!After writing this, Ive found out from my husband that they didnt just let us use their lift, THEY FIXED the problem for us! So wed have given 5+ if allowed!

Had a flat tire while vacationing on the Island. Dropped off my car after close and went by the store just after they open the doors (8:00). I went there to make sure they had all of the information they needed and they informed me that my car was ready. Apparently some of there techs get there earlier. NOW THAT IS FANTASTIC SERVICE. I thought I left a review about this months ago, so I am writing it now. 6-months to a year ago, I brought my 06 Nissan Pathfinder in because it was sputtering at stop lights. It needed a tune up, which I was aware of. The guys took it in and I picked it up later (evidently, it never got worked on before) I drive it back to my house (lived less then a mile away at the time) and noticed that it was still sputtering and acting up. I took it back and told them what was going. They said they will look into it and fix the issue. I get a call a was told it was ready. I go back to pick it up, we go for a test drive...nothing. I drive off, go pick up my wife and we go out to dinner only for the vehicle to die on us as we drive down Buckwalter at night. I manage to get the Pathfinder to start back a get to the parking lot at the movie theater. I called a friend ( who is also a mechanic) and he said leave me the keys and I will take a look. Turns out it was a defective sensor that was on recall if you looked up 06 Pathfinder problems. He went after getting my SUV towed to his garage and they gave him the part for free....FREE. After the tow, I spent $650 dollars. Thats after the tune up. The second visit (Battery Terminals, which were changed 2 months prior to this visit by friend/mechanic, but deemed need to be changed) and the a tow. My experience wasnt the best, but I am a three strikes and out guy and just didnt want to chance it again

I had a tire that was rapidly losing air, so I stopped at Island Tire and Automotive on William Hilton Pkwy. Within 30 minutes the tire was plugged and I was ready to hit the road again. However, tire plugs dont always hold, so store manager Jim Lawrence went out of his way to make sure I would have access to a tire that would fit my vehicle in the event that the plug failed. You dont find that type of service very often these days. Even though I live out of state, I just might just buy my next set of tires from these guys.

The least I can do for these guys is a positive Google review. The day before a long, ten hour drive back up to MD, I discovered a screw in the tire of our Mazda. I called up Island Tire & Automotive services to see if they had time to squeeze me in. They told me to come in, and if they needed to order a tire that wasnt in stock they could have it shipped to arrive the next morning. This was a relief.The guys at the shop checked things out, and after a short wait determined the screw had not penetrated the tire and remove it. In addition, they did not charge me since I did not need a patch or replacement, although they easily could have. Nobody really loves getting their car fixed, but the team here is fast, friendly, and obviously enjoys helping people - not just there to make a quick dollar or take advantage of people.Definitely go here if you have car troubles in HHI.

Bought two used tires that were in good shape two weeks ago from island tire Hilton Head. I not only had to go back twice but the mechanics could not seem to balance the tires. After the second attempt the balance seemed alright! On the way back to Georgia the shaking was unreal! I had the tires rebalanced, and not only did it cost me more money the balance was off 80 and 70 grams - why a tire place cannot balance tires is beyond me! Not only does island tire overcharge, they are incompetent and a complete waste of time! Useless!!!!

This place is a scam! Avoid this place. The front desk guy constantly tries to scare you to give them your business. And after you dont give them your business they charge you 56 dollars just for looking at it, seriously? Other mechanics and shops will do it for no charge just so they can show that they want your business. I spoke up for the outrageous 900 dollars they were trying to make me pay for a alternator, and the front desk guy just fought with me telling me thats the cheapest they could do and with the cheapest parts. Clearly their cliantel does not know how much work and parts cost so they just pay for it. I took the car to a local mechanic and he did the job for under 350 dollars. And i know the owner will get his feelings hurt by my review and will answer with a profesional back handed slap, reviews are constructive criticism and for you to better your way of doing business. Also the chairs in the waiting room look like they dumpster dived for them.
