The Hilliard YMCA is a great recreational center for many activities such as swimming, basketball, working out, studio sessions, etc. What makes it unique is its accessibility for people with disabilities. In the parking lot, there are 10 handicapped parking spaces surrounding the building. All doors for entry and exit are handicapped accessible; handicap button outside and inside the building. Each bathroom has one larger stall with horizontal grab bars. This is great for people with mobility disabilities. I did not see signs with braille, and there is no adult changing tables, which is a downside. It can get loud because there are so many activities going on at the same time, so people with sensory processing disorder may feel overwhelmed. The YMCA is filled with diversity among its guests and members. There are employees with disabilities who are always willing to help. Also they have a good population of members with disabilities who love to work out or go for a swim. The Hilliard branch is open to all, diversity and inclusion.

This place may not look like much from outside but it has everything you would need and more inside! 2 pools, studio rooms, basketball courts, open equipment floor and more! Plus the staff is very welcoming and friendly! Lots of diversity... which is a welcome change to most places that tend to cater to super skinny or super buff white folks. All ages, all fitness levels, all ethnicities, all are welcome! And the facility was super clean! If youre in the neighborhood check it out!

I love the YMCA. I am 67 years old and have a very bad back. I have gone down hill because of Covid-19 I had not been able to go to the Y. My body was really hurting. I am back now and can already tell a difference. I take water fittness. It is the same as water aerobics. It works and it has and will again change my life.

Its a good YMCA. Most times you can find the equipment you want to work out on. Most regular visitors are considerate and dont hog a machine. However then you have the school kids who just sit on a bench and text or play games. These days after Covid 19 reopening all I saw in the evening were school kids. Staff has always been very polite and helpful.

I think this is a great place to swim and workout, The place is always clean.I think some parents or lifeguards need to do a better job watching the kids in the pool area, kids will just jump in your lane while your using it and in the locker room their mouths can be foul. Why I’m giving a 4 star.

I was visiting today this YMCA from Orlando Florida, the front desk lady was above and beyond with everything, she wasnt hesitating to show me the facility, including pool, basketball court, locker room, gym. I was very happy and satisfied. A++++

The current staff is very nice. I go five times a week now to do a short workout. Im greeted each time. Sometimes you would want it to be a little cleaner, but when something is brought to their attention, they act on it.

Went in early this morning to swim some laps for exercise. Something new Im trying to get into. First of all, I felt beyond uncomfortable due to the fact that the lifeguard on duty sat right next to my personal belongings (towel, cover-up, cell phone, keys) on a bench directly in front of the lane I was swimming in instead of the assigned lifeguard chairs overlooking the entire pool. Then, his very large (250+ Lb?) buddy came over to sit right next to him almost directly on top of my things. Would he have sat on my phone, he wouldve crushed it. I dont know if thats normal pool etiquette or not but that was creepy and uncomfortable for me. Second, in the shower I noticed these little tiny black worms near the drains. They were all over the place. I recorded a video of it were you can clearly see the little worm wiggle. I left disgusted!

While the staff and facility are top notch this is a free gym for elderly people on certain Medicare providers. As a result this place is not a good place to workout. If you want to wait 30 minutes while elderly people who have no place to be, mess around on one machine, then this gym is for you. When you dont pay for something you cant appreciate it either, and some are very disrespectful. I dont hate but most of their membership during the day never worked a hard physical job ever in their lives and never had to maintain a level of fitness to function at their jobs and now as senior citizens workout here.

Picked up my child a little bit before child care closed for the morning... I want to say 10-15 minutes before. Child care workers too busy cleaning to watch the children. There are like four workers and maybe about 10 kids at the most and no one saw my 4 year old get hit in the face by another child. Totally oblivious! How? Accidents happen but seriously? Theyre simply NOT watching the kids or they just flat out ignore it. That was my last straw. My 4 year old complained daily about being bullied. Mean kids. I thought maybe she was being sensitive--she is not used to kids her age. I felt really guilty when I finally witnessed their incompetence with my own two eyes.Parents beware!!!

I have lived in three states and attended classes in all three area Ys. Although, they were allot of fun, none offered what the Dance Fusion classes at Ray Patch did. I lost weight and toned up from just attending that one class. Mrs. Nguyens class is awesome! Check her out...remember to yell out loud...life is short!

This is a clean YMCA, staff is very caring, and helpful. My kids love the indoor/outdoor pools, and my little ones are safe and secure in the very clean well run child watch area. I dont leave my kids with anyone, we homeschool...and this place exceeds my expectations! I can workout knowing all five of my kids are entertained and safe. What a blessing!

Overall its a great place. Plenty of equipment and all the extras, pools, sauna, hot tub, steam room...Ive been a member since I moved to Hilliard 15 years ago. However there is a group that lets their kids run wild in the exercise area and those kids are usually not supervised by an adult. Those children are on equipment they have no business being on unsupervised and the staff rarely says anything to them. Last year I was in the exercise area with my 14 year old son was at the time pushing 6 feet tall and knew what he was doing was approached by a staff member for being in the weight room by himself and I was no more than 10 feet away from him. This situation was very frustrating because of the reasons above. I have the feeling that the staff does not want to upset this particular group above so they turn the other way and let things go on they usually wouldnt. if you go in the basketball gym the floor is overrun with a group of boys who are disrespectful and rude especially to girls and women. Most of these boys have no parent on site they are dropped off at the Y and left alone. This group called my 13 year old daughter the B-WORD because she wanted to share the court with them and they said she had no rights. I was there and witnessed this personally. The are loud, they argue and push and shove. My two girls will not go inn there to shoot because of them. There needs to be a YMCA Staff member at all times in the basketball gym. It probably sounds like I hate the place...I dont. There are just a few things I find annoying and unfair to everyone.

1st of all the place is nice, well maintain but child watch dont open on weekends like at other ymca and i cant work out because no child watch on weekends and the front desk are very rude and give you stinky eye like you want to steal something and when you leave they try to smile at you. Like being nice, doesnt work like that .Not nice at all. And close a hot tub when they want and close the outside pool when they want. I came on weekend and they decided to close the pool early. Thats not cool. I came to relax and enjoy my weekend but i cant because the pool is closed. I hope someone changes this. And took away the towels. REALLY. and put your membership up and dont say nothing about it i told them about it and they said they send me an email i checked nothing there no email. They take towels away and close outside pool and hot tub and put membership up .Someone need to do someting about it . Especially families come to enjoy a nice day at the pool and cant and cant do nothing in a gym while front desk watching you closely. Kind of uncomfortable and creepy at the same time . Please someone need to do something about it . You pay all this money and cant enjoy nothing.

Overall not terrible. But if youre looking for a nice gym to workout in without using all of your phone data this is probably the worst gym in the world when it comes to wifi I have to use LTE 98% of the time here because if there is more than 5 people at the gym the wifi wont even load a song on YouTube, Pandora or Spotify its insane. Equipment is very limited nothing special unless you bring your own such as TRX bands, medicine balls, popular dumbbell weight sizes. They definitely dont enforce the if youre under 15 you have to be with a parent in the gym section because theres so many little kids running around the free weights and machines its ridiculous. Other than that though everything else checks out fine.

I’m writing this review because I am growing more and more frustrated with the lack of updated pool schedules. There was no info/update indicating that the pool was closed on Sept 9, on the YMCA app. I use the YMCA app on my phone, as suggested by the staff at the YMCA to check pool hours, changes, updates, etc. It’s a frustration that I need to call the YMCA every time I want to swim to find out if there are lanes open, and if the pool is even open. This is not the first time that this has been an issue, it’s a problem and frustration that has now extended into my second year of having a membership at the Hilliard YMCA. If the people paying to belong the YMCA do not have correct information or are faced with changing pool hours and/ or pool closures, why should we continue to pay for a membership with the Hilliard YMCA? I’m denied access to a pool I’m paying to belong to.The YMCA offers a nice pool, however it seems there is consistently an issue with having lanes open for lap swimmers, especially when the swim team starts up.I was told today, Sept 9, that the front desk staff does not even have access to update the YMCA app, to let the paying members know what is going on. It’s very disappointing to see and hear that the communication is lacking even inside the YMCA amongst staff. The front desk staff are then faced with turning away paying members and having to tell members that once again the pool hours have changed, something is closed, and they are not always filled in on the constant changes

For the cost, I feel this YMCA is really letting go of their focus on service. Ive been a member for a few years, and while the investment in remodel was nice, it seems they have no money left for nice equipment, working toilets and summer sports programs. Im disappointed that theyve got almost no sports programs for summer 2017. Yesterday, i was there and 2/4 toilets in the womens locker room were out of order, and 1/2 towel dispensers was out of towels (which is almost always the case). The gym equipment is getting run down and no one bothers to go through and organize the free weights. Additionally, its common to get completely ignored by staff when you walk in to try to scan your membership card. Not sure where my fees are going at this point. I also agree with the previous review that kids are allowed to run rampant through the workout space unattended. Its a huge inconvenience for those of us who left our kids at home to try to fit in a quick workout.

The general organization of programs is horrible. Staff cant answer simple questions about programs. Im not happy with Child Watch too. For example, they used black mulch on the outdoor playground this year, instead of wood or rubber chips, so kids come back all covered with this black dye.
