This location doesnt honor the 7 day pass from online they try and get you to pay 20 bucks for 1 day. They also tried telling me at first they only do month to month, when I insisted that I would only pay for a full year or 2 years, they folded but annoyed me by that point, manager was to busy to bother with me and they didnt have any sales people just the desk guy. Basically poor sales staff, poor management, I wont be back. I already have a membership at a gym by my house but wanted another one near work, the price didnt really bother me, but the way in which they run this place and treat a potential new member ensured I would not join up
They have a front desk person, early morning shift, who is friendly and interacts with everyone in a positive manner. Marvin welcomes everyone and is always willing to help anyone out. He has always been there, rain or snow! He is truly dedicated to the members.
Marven at the front desk makes this gym. Ive never seen a person more reliable. Hes there everyday, on time, great attitude, hard worker, and has been there for years. The gym itself is decent.
I don’t recommend any 1 to join golds gymPlease look carefully at your contract before signingThey charge $ more they asked. It’s really so hassleFake people with discrimination . They are nice with you tell you sing the leeeees after that they don’t know you
Was interested in signing up so I got a “free pass” online to try it out. When I got there the front staff said I had to sign up to enter and couldn’t use my pass... don’t give out free passes if you aren’t going to accept them.
Hey Gym lovers..I’m not sure where to start this as this facility I visited on Monday morning 6 AM person was sitting there name Mr Marvin who is so rude and unprofessional.I got visitor pass which is still on their website MR Marvin was not willing to accept instead he told me to buy $20 pass for a day or come back when there management people come because their website is not updated since last year. What kind of greedy people are can be I am not sure how you are running this business surely you will be out of business nearby future. When you are sending visitor pass you should have respect for it people are not willing to come Monday morning around 10 AM to meet your manager for one day free pass. But I will put like this way because I was so lucky that I got to know these people well in advance so I did not fall for their yearly commitments and by gods grace I was saved on Day one.I will encourage all the people not to go this gym as this kind of unprofessional and unethical behavior should not be entertainEdit - Response from the ManagementRespectfully your information is incorrect sir.I was customer in 2013 for one month sirMR Marvin even not seen any documents or not even know my nameSo it’s fine your policy to blame customers So I made a good decision and I feel lucky myselfI think you guys needs to introspect yourselves & try to be professional not the customer bashersThis what i wrote in my original review
Be aware of this gym, As they cheat you under name of membership. Dont trust them they take all your money from account saying the gym contract is for 3 years. The sales manager JIMMY did not provide me enough details before signing up for the membership. As he just asked us to sign the contract though i said it would monthly basis.BIG NO for everything there.ZERO rating. Go with youtube trainers.
When you are joining they make it so easy for you(don’t fall for this trap), when you have queries the manager is never available, front desk guy ask why you are looking for him and you will only meet him if you tell you are joining planning to join, rest other time they feed you stories telling he is not around, they won’t give a contact, they won’t give a appointment, they take your details and tell you they will call, but that call never comes, the manager is never here Monday through Friday anytime!!! Why is he getting paid, holds gym is a SCAM, stay away, never experienced this with any other gym.
Ventilation is pretty bad, it always stays warm inside. During this pandemic with NO proper ventilation is a disaster. And it is over crowded, i cancelled my subscription and they billed me for additional 2months, multiple calls to their billing center with no success. Man you need to fix your franchise.
Always very clean. Plenty of spray bottles of disinfectant w cloths available at front desk. Good number of folks and Plenty of space. Great workout today.
I come here eveverytime Im in the area. Awesome gym. No nonsense. Everybody is training hard. Great equipment and iron dumbells from 5 to 150lbs.
Pretty good gym machines but Bad ventilation and very busy
I have been a member since October of 2020, and I have always received an outstanding customer service. Thank you for you hard work.- That was my original review. However, after talking to two different employees requiring an information regarding the cancelation policy, they have informed me that it takes up to 2 weeks in order for my cancelation to be honored. So I went ahead and send them an email on 08/11 requesting that moving forward on September 1st my membership would like to be cancelled. I have also received a conformation that this is the case. Until a second email saying:-Per the cancellation guidelines in your membership agreement, all cancellations require a 30-day written notice. Members are responsible for any dues that are incurred during the cancelation process. We received your request on 8/11/2021 so any dues between then and 9/10/2021 are valid.30 days???? First of all: I was informed incorrectly, second of all I do not have a contract, and third what is this a lease agreement? Here is my true review for this place, which was pushed by them saying that they will absolutely unnecessary charge my card for a whole month, regardless of my fair notice!- I would absolutely not recommend this place for a multipole reasons!- I have worn two of my light color leggings only once, and I wouldnever be able to wear them again in public, because they simply couldnot be washed out, due to severe stains from the gym equipment inGolds Gym Herndon location. Overall it is a very dirty location.- I thought the staff was really nice, even left a google review tohelp their poor rating online, until the older receptionist guystarted calling me beautiful. That certainly disturbed me, and I havetold him that this is disturbing me. He never stopped, even due to hisworkout, one time he shouted it, and I was absolutely embarrassed so Ijust ignored it. He also, often park his car next to mine, and honk on me so I can put my window down and talk to him. That kind of behavior is simply inappropriate from an employee. I have never mentioned this or complained again to another employee, because I do not wish to get anyone in trouble.- The cleaning members often ignore tissues on the floor, also gatherin the womens change room to eat, laugh, and talk for hours. Also, inappropriate behavior around members.I have switching to Life Time! So far I am amazed by the cleanliness, and the professionalism which I have not found in Golds Gym Herndon location.
The jokers that ball up here think they nice. supposedlysomeone that plays ball up there with a sleeve is nice likesteve nash, curry wit da wrist nice.
Golds takes good care of its customers and makes sure people social distance and have pleasent workouts. Kudos to Golds for adapting to life in the Pandemic.
Ive been a member here for 5+ years. This gym isnt the worst in the area, but has been seriously mismanaged after the recent management change. Insufficient equipment problems. Benches without bars. Bars locked away while members wait to workout. Dumbbells and plates arent distributed or organized anymore. Even though COVID has reduced the crowds, this gym just seems run down.
I had zero issues with this gym for years until I had to cancel my membership. I would rate zero stars if it was an option. I was given a wrong email address for a cancellation, had to call Taft services several times, resend an email to cancel. This has been the worst organization for trying to cancel a membership that Ive ever seen. An extra $240 they have charged me. I was planning on coming back, but after this encounter- absolutely not. Worst member services trying to cancel a membership that Ive ever seen, and a very poor sense of urgency trying to resolve and get it done.
Great place to workout! Always a good atmosphere, good people! Been a member since 2010 and I get great support from the staff and the managers. Jose Rios is great! They are great and even assist me with travel passes when I head out of town. Definitely recommend. Ask for Jose and he will get you a membership.
Stay away, the other Golds in the area are far less sketchy than this ownership group. They are trying to violate their own contract and the law to extend the contract term due to COVID. The contract was not to pay you $X amount of money, it was for a membership until a certain date. There is no provision in the contract to justify this extension. They are trying to take advantage of people who dont know their rights in order to scam more money out of people during a pandemic. I didnt even know they reopened until I got billed again, in what was certainly an intentional move to obfuscate the closure dates for people looking for an exact refund. They also lied to me about how transferring to other Golds would work when I signed up. Dont make the mistake of joining this gym.Edit: Regardless of what ownership puts in their response, the contract I signed says otherwise. There is no mention of 12 term payments, but rather of a specific end date.
This is an edited review and a changed review at that.I really only used the machines and treadmills. Golds facilities are good - clean, modern, well kept and the front desk staff is nice.Really this is a five star review because eight months ago I screwed up my cancellation process. Ill save the full story, but suffice to say Tiffany and Golds were patient and forgiving for a mistake I made and initially blamed on them. To be clear, they didnt need to do so, but they chose to help me instead of leaving me to the wolves. That alone is worth five stars. Thank you.
Doing a good job keeping the gym clean and everyone safe.
Beware of personal training. Make sure you read the contract because even though the contract has an end date and max number of sessions it will automatically renew on a monthly basis unless you cancel 30 days before the end of your membership. They probably make a lot of extra money this way. Second I have been through 3 trainers there and the 3rd one could only do early morning sessions when I am at work and I still have unused sessions but cannot get a refund and I refuse to start with another trainer yet again.Other than that they have great classes and management is pretty good.
The gym facilities are the best; steel plates that don’t warp, lots of plates and weights available even during peek times when the gym is packed. Clean as always and the equipment looks new even if it’s been there for a while. The clientele work hard as well to take care of equipment and gym facilities.Training staff is great. Haven’t had a bad experience with any of the trainers I’ve worked with and they will train you for your goals, your needs and get you in and out while offering professional service.Management has worked through issues in a fair manner and is always available to talk about any concerns.
Great gym with awesome amenities 🥰. Staff has gone above and beyond to make golds gym a home away from home. If your signing up definitely look for Jose he goes above and beyond for members and can answer any question you may have. If your looking for a trainer ask for Derrick! He is fantastic. Great communication style, very personable, and builds your plans to your needs and schedule. Despite the holiday bump in calories and the influx of seasonal illness Derrick has continued to work with me in a way that has allowed me to not only drop 3 lbs during the holidays but more impressively a pant size.If your willing to put in the effort Derrick and Golds will give you every tool you need for success 😀.
Canceling your membership is a nightmare, just be aware of this before joining. Other than that, no other problems.
First and last visit to this location. Person in the front desk was so unprofessional. Take out day 1 pass free promotion from your website.
My wife and I are new to this area and we signed up for membership and personal trainer. We were told that our sessions would be for three months only and pressure to sign up.We never received personal training but were move from one person to another everyday or made to gym with lots of people. The person who signed us up Carl lied to us and we no longer wanted this service. 600.00 was taken from us again without our permission. This was not the service he signed us for. We are very angry for this! Also, my wife felt very uncomfortable in this class because the way Carl speak to her in inappropriate way and to other women in the class making suggestive comments and music that says wrong things about black people. This is inappropriate! We will be moving to gym in Reston. We are very disappointed for this and very sad to go away from our friends who gym here also.
Good gym. Its large, plenty of things to do, plenty of room. Even when during peak hours there is still a place to do your workout.I moved out of state (only spent around a month as a member here) and the process to simply cancel is such a joke. Its easier to get a Bachelors degree than it is to cancel a Golds Gym membership. And the 30 day process? Are you kidding me?
I’ve been going here for 10 months and have nothing but good things to say. The front desk staff are always welcoming, kind, and willing to help. The gym itself is huge, has every machine you could ever need, and the class list is extensive - I would highly recommend. It’s also literally right off of the toll road, which is super convenient.
Great gym, has everything you need very clean. Mr. Marvin is the Man!
Friendly stuff and is clean
Hello All,Please dont sign up a contract with these guys. They have made the process of freezing the account unnecessarily complicated.I have been trying to freeze my account for 6 months because of COVID-19, since Apr-2020.I had filled out 3 different forms till now, spoke to multiple customer care executives, but still they are charging me every month, saying my freeze request is in process. They dont respond to email, their mail server was down for so many days i got email delivery failed error message.I went to their gym personally and filled out a freeze form on June-25-2020 to freeze my account for 6 months, I got another email from them after 15 days asking me to fill out a new form (this is my 3rd freeze form) yet they are still charging me because they are still processing request.UFC Reston and Worldgate Sport & Health have options to freeze member accounts too, none of them are this complicated.I generally dont write bad reviews, but in this case i am so frustrated with Gold gym, I am not sure what else to do.I am very disappointed with Gold Gym and I request you all to learn from my mistake.I am not ready to risk my life during this pandemic just because Gold Gym guys dont want to freeze my account.Thanks.
Don’t signup any contract with these guys. And be careful if sign any. they squeeze your money. I have signed up goldgym Herndon, VA for 3 months professional training classes and paid for all 3 months though I have not completed due to COVID situation. I have even get charged for 4th month which is surprise to me and when I reach out support people to refund I got a weird response that if you don’t cancel the training it will rollover to 4th month though You signed for 3 months. I even not received any notification about this rollover and they don’t want to refund money since there is small disclaimer which we don’t pay attention during signing contract. They taking advantage by that and squeezing money from customers. What is the point to rollover to 4th month when I have signed only for 3 months. First of all why do you have that small disclaimer, is it to grab people hard earned money. Why don’t you send notifications to customer before rollover. When I request the refund of 4th payment which is not in my plan they refused it. Guys please careful with these guys before signing any contract.
Pros: Good gym. Excellent options for group classes. Top notch yoga classes. Well maintained machines. Small fraction of the staff members are very helpful.Cons: Their initial orientation is a scam to make you signup for personal training. I wish they have someone show how to use those equipment possibly once a week so one can get better value out of the gym. Many of the staff members need better training to be pleasant and helpful.Parking is a nightmare because of the location.I would have put 5 stars if they add yoga classes on Friday evenings & help people how to use the good equipment they have once a week.Update from 9/14:#1 reason I like about Golds Gym is Yoga and the teachers they have. Unfortunately I am reducing to 3 stars because good yoga teachers seem to be leaving. Will update in few weeks if situation improves.
I have nothing but great things to say about this location. The place is clean, laid out nice, and has everything you could want in a gym. If you have the opportunity to go here or currently go to this gym, you will know that David are Rios are the guys you need to speak to if you have any questions or concerns. They always greet the members, go out of their way if they need to, and always makes sure that members are happy. Overall, keep doing what you guys are doing but take the news off the televisions!
Very impressed with this gym. Super clean and also Ive never seen a gym with the dumbbells and other equipment so neatly put away. Well done.
Decided to check this place out for the first time yesterday. I met with Jose who showed me around the place. Im not kidding when I say this place has everything. Great atmosphere and a full staff thats there to answer any questions. Definitely excited to start working out here.
Awesome gym!! No complaints
Its a gym, they have weights, they are heavy. They also have Concept2 rowing machines for ripping fat ergos. The locker rooms are clean and everyone was very polite and professional when I have been there. Would recommend.
I love this location. The management here is very attentive and very helpful to your needs regardless of how basic or complicated they may be. Through their training program ive lost about 20 pounds and continue to see progress the longer in apart of this golds family. Daniel is the best!
This gym is great. Great people. Plenty of personal trainers. People are welcome. There are a lot of things we can do at this gym. I left the gym because I moved to another location. If i have to get it I will have to pay separately which is ridiculous. But the gym itself is perfect for anyone who is serious about getting, or stay fit or get healthy or stay healthy. Mornings are better. Night time gets crowded. Miss you all at clock tower. I know some hard working folks out there. They are really really nice. High recommend this gym. The receptionist guy is the best.
New Manager (Alonso) is great!
Not very friendly environment.Contract is not fare.
I have been a member of this gym for years. Typically I only take the GGX classes and all of the instructors are friendly, helpful and motivating.Recently stopped GGX classes and started yoga. There are many different level options and types of yoga to take throughout the week; which is very useful as a beginner. Jeanne is the best!As usual, I am always greeted warmly by everyone at the front desk.
Golds Gym at the Clocktower was my old gym. While Im no longer member of the gym due to relocation, I have to see I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. It was a very clean gym with excellent, friendly staff.I am most impressed with my experience actually leaving this gym when I relocated. Gyms get a bad rep about cancelling memberships for whatever reason–but not here. The staff was just as helpful when I was leaving as they were when I initially joined. Great Customer Service.
All in all I am very impressed with this gym. Cool staff and a great gym culture. I lift heavy and angry sometimes and everyone just let me be. Loved it .
I have been Member of the Gold Gym Clock towel for 15 years. they are very great stuff from the help desk to the manager. They are very professional and very good with their members and a special thanks for Mr. Alonso rengifo. The manager he great person!
Visiting from out of town and used this gym to get a leg workout in. First, this gym is hot. I’ve never sweat so much on leg day. Like drenched. Second, the equipment (machine) is old and in various states of repair. Some work well, some feel like they haven’t seen lube in years. Third, they put the leg equipment on the third floor. Who does that?! 😅 When I left I was afraid I was going to take a header down the steps. Probably took me 5 minutes to get out. Plenty of options for you to get done what you need to; but if I lived in Herndon, I’d find a place with newer or better cared for equipment and AC.
Is it legal to sign someone up for account and send them to collections without a contract? I didn’t have my card at the time and Wanted to come back next day to sign up. Dude not only signed me up without mg knowledge but i Was sent to collections for an account I didn’t even know I had. I signed up with a corporate store and payed a bill with double the monthly amount that you guys were offering me just to get into all locations because I was uncomfortable with how pushy the guy was. So I can pass this to my lawyer to get straightened out or someone can take care of that fake bill I have there please and thanks.
I love coming here to exercise with my friends and this place accommodates that. I think they have done a great job with supplying us with equipment. I once injured myself and the staff was really helpful and got me ice quickly. One problem is the new fake grass in the basketball gym on the sidelines. For some reason there are dips that you could easily twist your ankle in if you arent careful.
One of the nicest Gold’s I’ve been to. Has almost everything you need. David was very hospitable...thanks for the tour!
I am being a member since 2002, like the new renovations, new cardio equipment. I feel very welcome by marvin at the front desk and Mr.Rios great customer service.
Been going here since it opened. This is an amazing gym for the low monthly rates they offer. Ive dealt with almost every single employee at this location multiple times and everyone is very nice. Plenty of cardio equipment and tons of weights too. Ive never had one single billing issue. They dont charge for towels, they take $1 and give it back if/when you return upon leaving. I dont blame em.
Love the community there and the equipment.
Used to be a member when it first opened and left in 2003. Started back two months ago. So far, great experience, great atmosphere and friendly staff. I also enjoy the later hours as I have an irregular work schedule.
Completely dishonest business practices, unfortunately, I have to agree with the majority of reviewers here about the bad business ethics. I just went today to join based on an agreed price with an employee I spoke with recently at the gym. I was told $29.99 a month with a 2-year contract. Went today (10/30/17) to sign up, and the manager now told me he wouldnt honor it and said there is no such plan. He proceeded to tell me the former employee lied about the price. The woman literally pretended to make a call to get it approved by the manager I spoke with. This is a shady business, feels like buying from sketchy used car salesmen. The manager even saw her notes in my file (Im a former member) and still tried to charge me more and refused to honor the membership I was offered. When I was a member previously, I paid $400 down and $19.99 a month. The gym was fine and I really wanted to rejoin now that I moved back to the area, but I wont give my money to people who conduct business like this. Id rather pay double elsewhere and deal with folks with some integrity.
Ive been a member for two years and although it has not always been the best, a recent change justifies this 5 star rating.About a year ago they reorganized the first floor around a fenced off functional fitness area with an awesome looking MoveStrong apparatus. I was very disappointed at that time that the fenced off area was restricted to team training class use only. It seemed a large amount of money had been spent on this new equipment, which in theory would have been at least in part funded by all dues paying members. The idea of the best part of the gym being restricted and unusable to the general membership did not sit right with me.That being said, I returned to the gym after several months hiatus the other day to learn that theyve opened this fenced off area to the general membership from 9am-9pm when classes are not using it. Great move. Someone on the management staff has a brain. For rectifying the previous wrong this establishment gets 5 stars in my book going forward.
Do NOT join this gym! They are absolutely ridiculous with their membership cancellation process!Ive spent the last week sending numerous pieces of proof of my relocation and they have given me nothing but technicalities and hardship over this entire process.I will never join another Golds Gym, I dont recommend you do either.
The mentality of the regulars is that non-regulars are a burden and in their way of working out. Ive been involved in multiple passive aggressive interactions, which could have easily turned very bad if I didnt keep my cool and walk away. This has made my decision to never come back to this gym very easy, thankfully Im still a member at the Sterling Gold Gym which is the complete opposite, the most friendly gym Ive ever been a member of.This isnt the gyms fault but if they decided to create awareness of this issue it may prevent other customers from leaving like myself or worse, create a violent environment. My theory is: there are a handful of offenders who set to mentality of the other customers, ban them and the mentality shifts.
Im very happy I signed up with Golds Gym and more than that I should thank the trainers for giving me suggestion on how I should go ahead with my lifestyle, diet etc. Im extremely happy that I signed up for a personal training and man.. kudos to my trainer Brian Heckard. He was so friendly and understood my limitations when I began and gradually increased the workout.Awesome facility, very good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this.
I think the gym is good as well. It is generally clean and in good condition and the staff has been friendly to me. My only complaint would be some of the dance music being pumped in a little too loud; or maybe it is the speaker arrangement. But, the gym is definitely not poor. It compares favorably to the other gyms Ive been to in the area.
Its not a bad gym. I like several of the staff members and the monthly dues are pretty reasonable but when you compare it to its franchise affiliates (Ashburn & Sterling) locations it fails in comparison. They recently built a caged area in the middle of the gym focusing on natural body weight training but that requires you to pay for personal training and increased cost. There have televisions that have been broken for over a year and its very common to see broken treadmills, stairs machines and they tend to remain out of service many months. Aside from the broken equipment, it’s not that bad but definitely the lessor choice for this area if you’re looking for a full-service gym.
Was sent to collections after not even being informed about my membership being expired. Have not been since March 2020 (the height of the pandemic), and was subsequently charge 230 dollars. I would gladly have paid it, but instead had to find out via my credit report four months later.A great way for a 4 and a half year customer to go.
Air conditioning ALWAYS BROKEN, broken GYM equipment, poor maintenance, smelly locker room, immature lazy staff.total disrespect from the management. they are a lousy bunch.they hassle you about towels now. you have to rent them. they hassle you about payment (even if you are paid in full). they always want more money for something and just charge your credit card. the fee constantly increases. but the gym just gets worse. TURN THE NEWS OFF THE TVS. for gods sake i dont come to the gym TO GET DEPRESSED. hard to get excited about working out with ELLEN and Liar NEWS CNN ON ALL TVS. WHAT A JOKE OF A GYM.
Rocco is doing a great job with assisting my wife and I. Due to our daughter having two open-heart surgeries and limited nursing assistance at home, she is unable to go to the gym unfortunately. I have racked up over $2,000,000 in medical bills and finances are tight and have to work long hours. He is working hard to assist us with our contracts.
Guys, I love the Golds family too death... I really do, but you gotta get that AC unit fixed:( I can barley breathe and find myself short on working out due to the extreme heat and sweating. The sun roof thing is a total nightmare. Everything thing else is awesome... Roco and his staff are friendly and very easy to approach. I really like this gym, except for how hot it can get. If the AC was proper I would be leaving 5 star review for sure !!!!
DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR MEMBERSHIP. They will abuse it. They will put extra charges on it without your consent. They will always increase your membership. They will always find a way to charge you more than you expect. When you bring it to their attention, they will lie to your face about correcting the problem. They will give you a bunch of lip service and continue to put extra charges on your card. I LEARNED THE HARD WAY. Your only recourse will be to cancel the credit card with your bank, or the abuse will continue. Its a very slimy business business practice which they have perfected. ON TOP OF THAT. Air conditioning is broken or they refuse to turn it up. It is hot as hell in there. MANAGEMENT IS A BUNCH OF LIARS.
Sales people will rip you off. Be careful when signing up. I signed up my family members on a month to month basis. Rocco signed us up for two years. When you sign up, read very carefully what is on the computer screen and do not just believe what he tells you is on the screen and have you initial or sign. They wont get another dime once we pull the plug on our checking account.Forget getting a squat rack or bench press during regular workout times.Several weight machines are in need of repair on the upper deck near the cardio equipment. They are ancient.Front desk lady never smiles.I wouldnt recommend this place or the salesman to a dog.
Tremendous facility, spacious, clean, a variety of different ways to get in shape. Great management and people.
The gym is clean has friendly staff, can get super crowded at times which is understandable. only down side is the billing and cancellation department. I cannot explain how much I regret getting this membership . Trying to cancel is a nightmare. Cancelled my account and guess what I’m still getting charged two months later .
I love the impact class! Great cardio push and just enough technique to learn but not forget. Kenny is the best instructor ever!
My experience at Golds gym has always been one where the staff are professional, friendly, and helpful. The atmosphere is one where I am motivated to work out and comfortable in my surroundings.
I was given the manager/s and assistant managers emails. Management has been non-responsive. I have taken this to imply they do not care about couples becoming members. We will more than likely be accepting an offer from one of the other nearby gyms.
Gym is grade A Golds. Personnel very professional and friendly. Manager very accommodating to out of area visitors. Great place
I love the group exercise classes. There is a good variety, the instructors are excellent, and the times should meet the needs of all. Ive read other reviews, and was warned by other members before joining, about the awful customer service. I have found the people working at the Clocktower gym to be friendly but apparently all billing issues are handled by a collection agency called Taft Services. They are impossible to deal with and for this reason alone I would be slow to recommend the gym now.
Have come to this gym when it was necessary and always walked out displeased. Its all business.I definitely recommend the Golds Gym in Chantilly on sullyfield cir! The atmosphere is great, machines are new and staff are friendly!
I’ve been a member of multiple gyms, including another Gold’s. None have yet to compare to Gold’s Clocktower. The staff are always welcoming and happy to greet you when you come through the door. My girlfriend and I have gotten to know a lot of them on a first name basis. My workouts are one of the things I look forward to the most throughout the day and they’re made even more enjoyable at the Gold’s Clocktower.
Randy FulmerI have been actively working out for the past 30 years and started personal training with Randy for the past year. I had a few personal trainers before and Randy is the best among all of them. I didn’t think that I would say this months ago but I am actually looking forward to my personal training nowadays. For a scale from 1 to 10, Randy gets 10 for professionalism, customer service, communication, and dependability.Professionalism – Randy is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He demonstrates a great level of competency in personal training. He is my go-to person for everything in health and exercise. I consider him the expert and value his advice.Customer Service – Randy provides the highest level of customer service. He is extremely personable. He listens to what I have to say and does his best to accommodate. He always makes me feel good and strong. He constantly finds ways to motivate me. He has helped improve the quality of my workout significantly.Communication – Randy is a great communicator. He takes time talking to his clients. He is patient and makes I feel that I am his only customer. When I am not in the gym and have questions, I text him and he always responds promptly.Dependability – Randy is very dependable. He is always on time for our sessions. I can always count on Randy for a challenging workout.
Look elsewhere. My Locker was broken into and valuables stolen $180.00 cash. (LOCK WAS CUT OFF WITH BOLT CUTTERS) The front desk seemed like it was standard procedure. They were not surprised at all. This happened during busy evening time. I suspect it was a inside job. The staff is very rude and clueless. They are a bunch of liars. They lie about everything. I have never encountered a bunch of more unprofessional group. They spend most of their time STARING AT THEIR CELLPHONES. All the while the gym is dirty, HOT BECAUSE AC IS ALWAYS BROKEN, and thieves are running the place. This is A GHETTO GYM. They have a separate womens workout room and now I understand why. They have a list of rules posted on the wall and the STAFF EVEN IGNORE THEM. This place is laughable. So if you like working out in a HOT SMELLY GHETTO. THIS IS YOUR PLACE.
Wow, thought I was going to get a great gym since Ive been a member at so many others but this place and team members do not measure up. Glad Im looking somewhere else now as an alternative.
I came to the Herndon Golds gym to get a membership. I was lucky to meet Tre Wright he is professional, sincere and very helpful. He listened to what I was trying to get out of my membership and offered me different options. At no point was he trying to make a sale. Definitely going to refer my friends and family to this gym.
Great workout environment; Family friendly and accommodating. Good customer service, and Excellent training on staff.Kevin
Been a member at Golds Gym Clocktower for a number of years. The culture for those mainstays is always about fitness and achieving the best results possible. There are stragglers who will sometimes ruin the culture but for the most part, its a great gym I see myself coming back as I always do.Updating my review because of the absolute horrid lack of response from management during the COVID-19 pandemic. I sent numerous email requests to cancel or at the very least hold payment on my account. I have yet to receive a follow-up. Not even the worst part. They have been charging my account every 15 days since the closure took place in mid-March. They even managed to charge a card that was not tied to my account. Never returning. Filed an official complaint with the Attorney General for fraudulent business practices.
Want your Credit Card to be stolen?? Signing up for this gym is bottom line allowing Golds Gym to abuse your credit card when you have only allowed them to charge monthly fee. I called them for about 6-7 time in 2 months and couldn’t find anyone responsible to explain why they charged my credit cards three times a month with different amount. 3 times in 1 month at different dates throughout a single month is just madness. Do they assume that people just won’t know if they randomly pull money out your account gradually?
Dont Go to this GymI am really a disappointed member in this gym. First, its not 24 hours 7 days a week this is a lie. I dont know if you cant keep your word why do you fraud custumors? The equipment is falling apart and there are a lot of machines that r broken down. The membership is expensive and its not worth it. Please reconsider another gym for your own sake.
I visited this gym on March 2nd at 8:30 pm and was very unhappy with the treatment and hostility I received from the front desk attendant, Marvin. I have the all access club member pass which to my understanding allows me access to 40 different gyms in northern Virginia including the clock tower gym as well as bring a guest access. When my pass didn’t scan, Marvin began asking me questions and comments such as:What gym did you sign up?Where are you coming from? How much do you pay for your membership? You’re going to have to bring a printed contract every time you want to work out here. This really crossed a line with me and I felt that he was asking personal questions he should not have been asking. I have been part of golds gym for the past 6-7 years and have not been treated this poorly before. I am hesitant to come back now to this location if this is the way the golds staff here treats its members.
I have been attending this gym for 3 months now thanks to Daniel Ferrera who helped me sign up. Daniel is very kind, knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions. He also listened to my long-term goals about my health and gave me a lot of motivation. I would highly recommend him for any concerns or questions. The staff at this gym has made my transition go smoothly .I tried out the Zumba and body combat classes a few times which I enjoyed!
Awesome thanks to Tre Wright. Great service and helpful guy. Fully recommend anyone. He’ll get you right.
I have been going to this gym for 3 years now and I could not be any happier. If you lift weights its the best gym around as they maintain their equipment very well, have numerous options between cable systems/free weights going up to 150 lbs, 5 squat racks, numerous machines, etc. If you work out in the mornings, Marvin at the front desk is the nicest/friendliest person I have ever met working at a gym.
Initially I was informed as a 12 months contract since I work as a contractor it looks good to me and I joined and now when I am about to leave they are telling me I am on 24 months contract I dont understand while telling they told me 12 months contract and in paperwork it was 24 months. And a guy in the reception claimed saying he is one of the manager in gold gym Herndon and while I am asking he is least bothered in answering properly to my questions. This is the worst experience I had with golds gym.
August 2019: canceled and moved to sport and health in Worldgate. Never addressed AC issue in locker room.July 2019: moving from 4 star to 1 star. I’ve been coming here 3 years and every summer they do not turn the AC on in the men’s locker room. It ranges from 80-90 degrees from May-August. So frustrating after working out on my lunch break, taking a shower and immediately being drenched in sweat from the locker room temperature. When you step out of the locker room into the actual gym, it’s 15 degrees cooler. Every summer they said they are waiting for a part to come in and it never arrives until end of August...funny how that works. Fix the issue already or I’m going to Sport and Health at Worldgate. Pic of today’s thermostat attached.Sincerely,A member who has to go back to work covered in sweat in his work clothes after a shower2017:You get what you pay for with gyms. You cant expect a lifetime style gym for the price you pay here. Its a gym, go in, get your workout done. The small group training is great as well, you just have to make sure you go to the classes to get the most of your money.
Nice facilities and great location. Equipment is clean and plentiful. However, pushy sales people at front desk.
Roughly half of this gym does not have working air conditioning, and there appears to be no effort to get it fixed. It has not worked at all in the mens locker room for at least the last two summers, with the temps there averaging in the upper 80s. It may not be a big deal to some, but if you are going to work after the gym, it means you get really sweaty in your work clothes after showering. The worst part is the complete lack of customer service and unresponsiveness from management. The A/C issues have been repeatedly brought to their attention by various members (including myself). We either dont get a response or are rudely dismissed. If the temps dont bother you, they do have a nice selection of equipment and awesome group exercise instructors.
So based on the most recent positive review. Gym management is essentially agreeing that good customer service is not something to focus on in a customer driven industry? That explains quite a bit. I was also unaware that a gym bag on the floor automatically means someone is doing a superset... I still have yet to see any changes. The equipment is so dirty and old that I walk out feeling as though I had just done a bunch of burpees on a blacktop. Grips for the cables are falling apart, and there are never enough rope pulls or single arm handles. The same spin bikes that dont register the level youre on have also been broken for the last 6 months. Its difficult to focus on working out when the gym is dirty as hell and none of the workers/managers show an interest in keeping it clean. It is a shame because there is a lot of variety in equipment which could make it a good gym.I have been lifting weights closing in on 15 years now. I have never been to a gym as unfriendly as this one. An overwhelming majority of the staff are in their own cliques and barely associate with members outside of that, including trainers and those who work in membership. They are completely unprofessional rarely acknowledge members coming in and out of the gym unless its an attractive female. The unfriendly nature of the gym isnt limited to employees either there are several groups who workout in there who think they own the gym and are offended by people asking to work in. I have also never seen a gym with a customer base that simply refuses to re-rack weights.Im convinced that based on the location (at least 20 apartment complexes surrounding the gym) and a large variety of weight training equipment they would do no business.
I would like to begin by thanking the wonderful staff for making my experience amazing. There are plenty of machines and rooms which incorporate yoga and zumba. Other rooms include a basketball court, movie room, dark room for cardio, etc. All members at the gym are pleasant and courteous. Id like to personally thank Tre for excellent service. Thank you Golds!!!
The staff here is amazing, especially Tre, he always has a smile on his face and is friendly towards everyone. I come here everyday and love it!
This Gym is absolutely has no sense of customer service. I was told the gym membership plan I was on was month to month and it was not month to month, it would default to month to month after a year. I didnt work out for 6 mo. and when I came back they charged me close to $400.00 to start my membership. They wont tell you they can freeze the account until your able to pay...Thanks a lot $400 later. They also said they would wave the $400 and just pay my first and last month and they took payment, then all of the sudden they are back to trying to collect an additional $400.00. They wont work with you and they charged my a $30 new equiptment fee on top of that. I havent seen one new machine. Screw Golds I will take my money elsewhere. The staff is irritating anyway, too much flirting staring and cleaning when I am trying to do a workout!!!! I dont need that drama.
Im planning on relocating in the area so I checked out the place for the first time friday, Samantha in the membership department showed me around, she was extremelly helpful and professional, the enviroment was great and the place very clean.Thank you Samantha!!
First off, Ive been going to this gym for close to two years now. I simply came across this review because I wanted to get the phone number to this gym to verify whether or not they had staggered hours for Presidents day. My wife and I have been reading the reviews and laughing at how some people have given this gym one or two stars over petty things. You dont like the gym because the staff doesnt try to start a conversation with you when you should be working out anyways? Fine. You have a complex and need validation from random ppl when you should be working out anyways. You have a problem with people leaving their gym bags laying around? Thats because theyre doing super sets (if you know what those are). If you didnt know that and have a problem with it, not to discourage you but you probably belong at planet fitness. If youre looking for a real gym that has serious equipment then this is the place for you.
