Despite being able to talk to friendly courteous representatives on the phone, the homeowners insurance they sell is terrible. Claims representatives are not responsive, courteous, or trustworthy. Their main goal appears to do anything they can to get out of properly processing a claim. Would strongly NOT recommend.

I was with Powell Insurance since 1984, they were bought by Bowers insurance. I have all my insurance through them. Several weeks ago I was putting my grandson into his car seat on Church St. in Frederick when a car came by and hit my open door while I was bending over strapping him into his car seat. The door was damaged and we got the drivers information which I emailed to start a claim on Dec 24th. Pictures of her drivers license, insurance card, tags and damage to our car were included. On January 2nd I received this email. I just tried to call State Farm and they cannot find policy. I have called and left message for Danielle at the number you sent. Will keep you advised what I find out Then on January 6th I sent this email We are taking our car in for estimates, how many do you need. No deductible on my part, correct? as she was at fault, and if she is or is not insured Erie will cover us. Ready to get this repaired ASAP, we good to go? I heard nothing back. Yesterday I went to their office in Frederick to speak about this. She said she called me said get an estimate but I never received a call from her and checked my phone records to confirm that. She said they have not been able to contact her, have not been able to verify her insurance and have not been able to verify that she is an uninsured motorist so the claim would have to go under my insurance and which means $500 deductible v $200 deductible for an uninsured motorist and if the cost of repair was over $1,000 that would raise my premium. The service I received was subpar and I am quite disappointed.
