A couple of weeks ago I submitted a request online because I only get certain days off of work and I know it takes more than a day to look over a car so I made a request online two weeks ago for an appointment for the 7th. The email said that I would get a confirmation in a few days to confirm my appointment to make sure that the time would be available its now two weeks later a day before my appointment I still have not received the email I called them cant get no one on the line. Thats why I set up for the request for the appointment through their website and still have not been able to get my car looked at or even speak to someone I do not recommend this place if its hard to even get in there I could imagine how its going to be if my car was there and how long it would take to get it back and no one likes to answer the phone.

I own a 2001 Acura TL and if you want it done correctly this is where you need to get it done. This car had the check engine and traction control sensor lights come on after the installation of transmission, the parts were ordered and installed, after driving it some days and getting it rescanned it finally cleared itself. The car runs great 234,265 miles going smoothly Im extremely pleased with the service and the entire staff thanks for a well done professional job.

My wife took he Chevy Tahoe here. They were always nice over the phone. However, upon entering the vehicle after the repair was completed my wife noticed her sun glasses were missing. They were not where she left them. The next day she checks the rear of the vehicle and finds the sun glasses on the back floor board. Also, our folding lawn chairs and tent we had stored in the truck were gone. I called the shop and was told people need to quit taking other peoples stuff. My wife then went back to the shop only to be told by an employee that the cameras are not pointed in the direction that here truck was parked in. There was no force entry, so someone who had access to the keys had to steal the items. My wife then calls the police. Before the police could get there the employee attempted to leave telling my wife she needs to move its five oclock and theyre now closed. The manager told my wife and the Officer that he has a key box with all the customers keys in it. The officer ask him who has access to the key box, and he replies every employee does. Needless to say our chairs and tent are still missing. We filed a police report. Do not take your vehicle there.

I am so happy that I took my car to AAMCO! Every other car company in Gainesville gave me the run around in regards to finding the REAL issue with my vehicle. AAMCO really took the time to throughly examine my vehicle and within a day, they were able to tell me EXACTLY what was wrong!! The staff was very professional and attentive to every concern that I had in regards to vehicle repairs (cost, time frame, etc). The staff at the Gainesville AAMCO location definitely sets the bar high!!!! I will definitely visit AAMCO again!!!!

Yes we bought a rebuilt transmission from this AAMCO in Gainesville FL. 3 years ago.IF YOU DONT READ THIS ENTIRE POST, AAMCO WOULD NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTY. SO WE WERE OUT $3,422 ON AN 18,000 MILE WARRANTY, THAT WE ONLY GOT 1200 MILES OUT OF.Well, while doing the test drive, I didnt think things were right. so they told us, after a couple of test drives, to go to the shop where the transmission was rebuilt in Jacksonville Florida. we only got 85 mi down the road almost to Jacksonville where our driveline fell out. on a six Lane highway doing 65 70 MPH during rushour in a pouring down rainstorm. they finally got us a tow truck after sitting on the side of the road for 2 hours, And they had us towed to the Jacksonville aamco. Well, it took them two weeks to to locate the part that was needed. While we stayed parked in the parking lot in Jacksonville waiting. there warranty doesnt cover motels or lodging while youre waiting if youre from out of town. So we were forced to stay at our motorhome, (luckily we had it) in the parking lot of the Jacksonville amco. when we when we finally received a new driveline and brake assemblies the boys in Jacksonville put it in and we got on down the road. Everything seem to be fine until the transmission started skipping sputtering so we pull into an AMCO in El Paso Texas. where we were told they couldnt do work on a motorhome, because it was too big, so they sent us to Las Cruces, New Mexico. They wanted to charge us more money to do a complete check on the engine compression check all that etc etc. We did not have the money to spend so we decided to go to a Colorado where we lived and have it serviced there. Well we called the aamco in Gainesville and they directed us to the aamco in Evergreen, Colorado. So we took it to Evergreen. Or shall I say, we tried to take it to Evergreen. We had to be towed the last 50 mi. because the thing was running so bad. Evergreen aamco was 200 mi from our intended destination so we rented a U-Haul Van. we were gone for a total of 7 days when we came back to Evergreen to check on their progress. They had not even looked at the vehicle. By this time my patients are wearing thin. Come to find out, low and behold, the owner of the Evergreen amco, and the owner of the Gainesville AMCO were good buddies, hunting buddies in fact. They talked to one another on the phone and decided they were not going to honor our warranty because the ODOMETER had stopped working. well they had failed to put the pin in the odometer Cable when they installed the new transmission. After making several phone calls back and forth with the shop in Gainesville and calling corporate amco we still had no remedy, unless we went back to Florida, filed a lawsuit which would have cost us the $3,500 that we were out. So we just let it go and took it in the, (proverbial posterior). BUTT, Im really sorry we did.SO THIS IS MY WAY OF GETTING IT OUT TO OTHER PEOPLE WHO MIGHT BE IN NEED OF THEIR SERVICES. DO NOT GO TO THIS AMCO THEY WILL LIE TO YOU, TRY TO SHUFFLE YOU DOWN THE ROAD, AND THEY DONT TIGHTEN BOLTS...

Came to AAMCO for a broken flex plate a couple days ago. I ask for them to do a diagnostic to make sure that’s what was wrong, diagnostic was free. Next day I speak with Ricky and he lets me know that they confirmed the flex plate is an issue, and they want to take the transmission off (at cost) to find out why, and to eventually fix it. I gave my permission for that, and by morning today they had an answer for me. My engine itself is broken and I’ll have to get a new one. Since I’ve saw the other reviews made today about them up selling things that don’t need to happen, I asked if my uncle could come and see it and they allowed for my uncle to come and take a look at it, and took time to show and discuss with him everything wrong with the car. He’s a retired mechanic, was working for 35 years, and he affirmed that everything they had quoted me was completely truthful and MORE than fair with pricing, so do NOT go by their bad reviews. They’ve been very understanding and kind with my situation, I decided it’s more worth it to go buy a new car since mine is 16 years old but if I had decided to put a new motor in I wouldn’t go to anyone but them. Definitely recommend their services.Only reason I gave 4 stars is because I got towed to AAMCO using a towing service they work with, and the tow truck driver was racist, and mocking towards disabled individuals. The ride was very uncomfortable.

Mike and his crew at this aamco location are unbeatable. By far the best mechanical shop experience I have ever had, the customer service is outstanding, the warranty is great and they can build one tough transmission. I was on the way to Gainesville FL from indiana when I noticed a torque converter lockup issue coming down the mountains. I dropped the truck off with mike and they thoroughly went through the whole transmission and rebuilt it so Id never have to worry about it again. Ive put almost 2500 miles on it fresh out of the shop, its doing great and pulls like a peterbuilt! Id recommend them to anyone for anything! They are the absolute best in the biz! He took the extra time and attention to assist us with a problem we didnt even know how or where to get it fully handled. We are so grateful that he did the right thing! All staff persons we dealt with during our time with them was great. They were all courteous, friendly and helpful. John, Mike (I believe there are 2 Mikes) all did their very best for us. I went in a pinch. My 4X4 truck was making a racket, which I associated with the 4X4 drive. They arranged towing of my truck and got to it pretty quickly. The diagnosis....a worn out wheel bearing on the front left. The repair took about an hour and 1/2. I drove away $600 poorer, but all seemed well. The wheel bearing was definitely worn out and their diagnosis was correct. Unfortunately, the diagnosis wasnt the source of the noise. About 10 miles down the road on I-75, as I entered the rest area, the horrible grinding sound was back. I realized that the sound only happened when I slowed below 25 mph. I got back on the interstate and made it back to Tampa. Again, the grinding noise returned after I left the interstate. A quick you-tube video and sure enough, it was clear that the problem was a 4X4 actuator in the front left wheel. For $60, I replaced the actuator myself. I could have also replaced the wheel bearing since they both involved about 80% of the same tasks. I thought their prices were a little high (I paid $200+ for the wheel bearing) since I could have bought the part on line for $60. But the service was great. The problem they addressed was legit. They were very accomodating. I wasnt happy about spending $600 for towing and repairs, but it was a justifiable service and they need to replace the bearing was obvious. I would recommend them and I would go back.

Exceptional customer service. Mike and his crew at AAMCO are all you can ask for in an auto repair facility. We originally had them replace the clutch in our car. During the process there were some other items that came up as sometimes happens on a car with 200k miles. All the additions were run past me first and well documented. Turns out the new clutch was defective, so they swapped it out at no cost. 2 weeks later our transmission went out. They helped us find a deal on a used one and gave us a discounted rate on installation. If youre looking for a solid mechanic in Gainesville FL, give these guys a call. Cant recommend them highly enough.

I had my truck done by aamco a little over a year ago. I have a dodge 3500 manual that needed new synchronizers. I took it to aamco with hopes it’d be better than new. They replaced all the synchronizers 5th and 6th gear and some bearings. Sometime down the road I have problems with 3rd gear. It wouldn’t go into gear without grinding took it back for warranty work and the mechanic told me why can’t i skip the gear. I use it to pull a trailer every now and then so I need every gear. So I dropped it off when they told me to. And then they proceeded to not do a thing with it for over a month. I’d call every weekend to check the progress on it cause I needed my truck back for causal work nothing too rigorous. Then they finally get it back to me I believe a month n 2-3 weeks later. So fast forward a little bit, my truck is having problems with 6th gear again (the original problem) And I call because it’s a month out of warranty hoping they’d do something about it since they held my truck for a month before they even touched it and they pushed me off to contact another part of their franchise. and the lady referenced me to another aamco n all they said is they would work with me on the price. 1,800 to do the transmission again that I already paid 2,600 roughly to do the first time. Which it should of been done right the first time. So why would I pay 1,800 again to a company that messed my transmission up not once but twice And then pay again to have it messed up a third time. So I went and paid my friend to rebuild it himself and it’s been running good now and I’ve hauled my trailer with it after he rebuilt it. Which ended up being 1,800 to do that 1,000 for parts and 800 for his services. So that’s roughly 4,400 to have my transmission rebuilt right which it should of been done the first time. And my mechanic Told me this is what they did wrong: Mainshaft nut was put on with chisel . counter shaft had no shim reverse idler was shimmed way too tight 5th and 6th gear mainshaft needed replaced. If I save one person from getting screwemd out of almost 3 grand to then it’s worth it.Just save yourself the time and burn your money if you still want to deal with their poor quality parts, unprofessional companies, and not having correct tools to do transmissions when they just happen to be a “transmission” shop.Aamco in lower Burrell pa. Now closed. I wonder why!

I wish that I could have given this place a zero star. My daughters car broke down near her school and I had it towed to Aamco a couple days later. I wanted to research a place first. I have decided to call Aamco thats about five miles from her school. I called the place and spoke with Ricky on the phone and he told me that hell do a diagnostic thats free of charge. I had the car towed to the place the next day. When I called back the next day he told me that hell need time to put the car back together. I asked him what does that mean and he said that it was part of the diagnostic and it was free. I had never authorized him to do anything but the diagnostic which he said was free. I drove three hours to get my car and to have it towed to somewhere else because his estimate to fix my car was 3000 for a used transmission. I am at the place to pick up my car and he tells me that the cost is 585.00 dollars and the car is still not fixed. I am scratching my head thinking that this must be a joke. He has refused to release my car unless I pay him the money for the labor. Hes trying to get me into an argument by acussing me of taking advantage of him. I had called the police and was waiting for them to try to sort this out. Before I knew it this two young couple approached me and said they were having trouble getting their car back from this place and their story was the same as mine. Yup, free diagnostic which turns out to be a big scam. I have never been so scared in my life. The owner was looking for a fight and all I wanted to do was to get the hell out of that place. My last phone call to the police the dispatcher asked me if he had a weapon and I replied I dont know. The tow truck driver stayed for a few and then the police came out within five minutes. The police records are all public information. Please check for yourself.

This is a place of fraudulent business. Do not go here. The police can confirm so. The police had to come out three times to help me recoup my vehicle after they tried to charge me $650 for a free diagnostic. They claimed that I agreed to those services but had no written estimates, had NEVER said any numbers, and claimed to have recorded phone calls. This would have been illegal as they did not ask for consent to record the call. When we went down to listen to the call and to negate the outrageous price, they were unable to find them due to lack of IT support. When the police asked for the recordings, they were still unable to provide them. This is a lie and dont let them trap you.We have reported them to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Better Business Bureau due to a violation of Florida Statute 559.905 concerning Motor Vehicle Repair laws and Florida Statute 934.03 concerning recording callers without proper consent. An attorney has also been consulted.I can see with other reviews that the manager is trying to negate the negative comments. However, we were there three times with the police and he was never there and they never made an effort to contact him. We only encountered the deplorable customer service that Ricky gave us, full of yelling, swearing and threats.

At the end of November, my vehicle was giving me transmission problems. So I called AAMCO of Gainesville FL, and I spoke with Ricky about bringing it in. When i dropped it off on Tuesday, November 26th, a couple days before Thanksgiving, someone other than Ricky took my keys and did not have me fill out any paper work or take any other info from me other than my name. After the free diagnostic of my transmission, I was given possibilities of what could be going on with it. I was told to be given an exact repair dollar amount, I would need to verbally approve a full diagnostic to take the transmission out and take it apart to inspect the internal components. I was told this diagnostic would cost $675 but would be waived in the event I completed the repair with him. Once the diagnostic was completed, he gave me a verbal quote over the phone of $5,500 for a re-manufactured transmission or $4,500 for a rebuild. I immediately felt price gouged and shopped around for another transmission and found another shop to complete the repair for a re-manufactured transmission at $2,600 . When i told Ricky I would be taking the vehicle to another shop, he told me to hang on a second while he called his transmission suppliers. Ricky then told me he could put a re-manufactured transmission in for me for $3,300 matching the total I would pay if I paid the $675 diagnostic plus the $2,600 at the other shop. He stated that he had met his quota and that the supplier owed him. At this point, I had lost all confidence with their service and felt that I was being taken advantage off because all of a sudden theres a 2K price decrease. He told me it would take 2 days to prep the vehicle to be picked up because he didnt have any lifts available. So I went along with it and scheduled a tow truck to pick the vehicle up at AAMCO and take it to another shop, all while keeping Ricky in the loop on the time and date. After picking up my vehicle 2 days later, the tow truck driver called me on the way to the next shop, stating that the vehicle and transmission were not together and that AAMCO took for ever in regards to supplying the transmission to him so he did not wait around for it. So that tells me that NOTHING was done those 2 days to put the vehicle back together. I then had to pay the next shop a fee to have their tow truck company pick up the transmission and the transfer case from AAMCO. A week or so later, I received my Synchrony credit card bill in the mail that I signed up for to potentially pay for the repair of the transmission and my bill was $875! $200 over the the amount I was told on the phone. At this point, I had never once received a written quote or filled out or signed ANY paper work. I called and spoke to a Jonathan who was a temporary manager that helped that shop out but he told me I had to go through Ricky. So I called Ricky and he stated he would refund the money to me and that his secretary over charged me. When i called back 2 weeks later and spoke to Ricky he stated that he mustve been drunk when he told me that and that he would trade $250 worth of labor or oil changes to compensate me for the difference. After all this, I will NEVER take my vehicle to ANY AAMCO ever again. I can not imagine how many people have been screwed over by him and have not said or done anything about it. When I asked to speak with the owner Mike, he told me that Mike does not like to speak to customers because they get the best of him and he just does what they ask. Ricky literally told me to hit the road. All the calls state they are being recorded and Ricky even stated he went back and listened to himself telling me he would refund the amount to my synchrony account. I have contacted AAMCO corporate and they attempted to speak with Ricky but no with no success. I feel defrauded and will be putting in formal complaints against AAMCO of Gainesville with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, The Attorney Generals Office and the Better Business Bureau. I will NEVER take my vehicle to another AAMCO again.

Mike & John at AAMCO repaired my Suburban Transmission this Holiday season. They were very professional getting to the bottom of my transmission problems. My car presented some difficult issues and they continued to make sure my car was repaired. It runs like new again thanks to their determination to get it right.

Awesome Service. My transmission was under warranty, and even though they just wanted to repair the transmission, John fought to get me another engine. Car runs great!

Okay so I’m not here to bash this place. Let me just say me and my husband is out of pocket $3,000.00 of work done on the Dodge Durango that we had. Instead of them trying to find the main problem. We ended up paying for other issues that was not the main problem of this SUV. I get that the suv already had a number of issues which wasn’t our fault in the first place, because we were going to take over the payments from a family member. So it all boiled down to them offering us a 60% off of fixing it again. But me and my husband decided to go purchase a cash SUV. We however we did get Awsome customer service. But we do kinda feel misleading into getting this fix and that fix. When in reality the main issue is not getting fixed. So we ended up out of pocket and the main issue is still not fixed at all. All I’m going to say, next time I would get a second opinion from another professionals. We still end up losing. They gained money to keep their business running and we lost a car and money. Not satisfied st all. We do appreciate them trying to show some type of concern.

Very reliable on top of that they called me like I needed them too they understood the situation that I had been in at the previous shop where they did not take care of my vehicle. This AAMCO is extremely well run and you can believe anything that they tell you unlike other shops these days

Horrible over a week and half . Lost two jobs because I was stuck in Gainesville. And as a Georgia boy I cant tell how much it pains me to see gators everywhere. Also rude and no compensation what so ever for rental car or lodging. Thank God I have a friend here or I would have been homeless for over a week

DO NOT GO HERE. Im a woman and of corse, they thought they could take advantage of me. They tried telling me that to fix my car issues I would need to repair my transmission. That the cost is 1500-2000 dollars and that they could find more wri g when they get inside. Its not my first time getting ripped off so I decided to get opinions from two other mechanics just in casr..guess what?? NOTHING wrong with the transmission. The funniest thing is that he said he would clean another part for free to help with another issue as a courtesy. The other mechanics said that that exact part WAS the issue and much cheaper to fix...

This is exactly the type of fast talking, overcharging smarmy mechanic you’d expect. Asked for an estimate for a simple service and was quoted $100 over typical cost. No thanks.

They got my vehicle in the following morning and had my vehicle done it an hour and even did an additional look over. I am super happy with their service and would deffinetlly use/recommend AAMCO TRANSMISSIONS TOTAL CAR CARE again. Thank you guys.
