I trained at another dojo for 6 years. It was harsh, operating on punishment, humiliation, and money.Samurai was suggested to me by one of the longtime families at my first dojo. Im so thankful for that recommendation.Ive been at Samurai for a few years. I take private lessons 3x a week. Its not cheap, but its changing my life.Sensei Daniel is patient, kind, and accommodating. Im older and wider, and he works at my pace. He always answers my questions sincerely, and hes always got little tricks for my problem areas.A huge difference between Samurai and my former dojo is that Im not afraid to fail and be punished. Here, I fail and overcome.Sensei Warren has helped me heal after an abusive marriage. I feel stronger and wiser about my self-defense choices. I feel safer because of Samurai. Finally: curriculum. In my short time training, Ive learned 3 katas, 2 bo katas, 16 self-defenses, breakouts, and new strikes and kicks. I learn something every time I train--physical, mental, and spiritual.Im so thrilled to be part of this dojo. Its perfect for me.
My son and I have been learning at this dojo since September 2020. We attend karate together and my son also is in judo.We both love the mixed class and learning so much every time we step into the dojo. Sensei Daniel is nice, knowledgeable, funny and very patient. The ages in each class range from 4-40+ and I feel its a great way to learn.Highly recommend!
I started coming to Samurai Academy in 2018. Sensei Daniel has always taught his students to use physical training only in self-defense when there is no other choice. It’s something to have in reserve ready to go. If a situation arises where conflict can’t be avoided, his students have no choice but to win. Not only does Sensei Daniel teach how to defend yourself physically but he also shows how to do it in ways that can avoid those kinds of situations altogether.I personally had to use some of the lessons learned in the past after my car was stolen in front of my home. I was able to hear the engine start and noticed my car was missing. I took my other car out to see if I might be able find it. A few minutes later, I was able to spot my car at a red light. Both vehicles were involved in an accident and 3 people who were in the stolen car all ran in different directions. I was able to find one of the suspects walking on the sidewalk. I initially thought about different ways I could hold the person until the police arrived. Fortunately, I chose to keep talking to the person as a way of keeping them at the scene. During the phone call with the police, they asked if I was physically detaining the suspect and informed me that I could be the one committing a crime. In the end, all I had to do was talk until the police arrived. Sensei Daniel teaches his students to try to verbally de-escalate confrontations when possible and it helped me out that night. I recommend Samurai Academy for children and adults of all ages. Youll be able to learn how to defend yourself in different ways.
This might be a waste of time to write but i have never been here but judging by the reviews i can already tell that its is great and i might be starting soon also i would love to hear from the owner something convincing because my mom might not let me and i would really love to be a better fighter because recently i have been getting bullied at school and the bullies kick me and stabbed me with a pencil
I started my martial art journey at Samurai Academy. It is a great school where you can train Karate and Judo. Sensei Daniel is a very nice instructor who does not only have great techniques but also a warm heart for his students. Highly recommended!
My daughter loves learning Judo here with Sensei Daniel.
I have past experience with several Karate schools. Recently I started looking for a Karate school for my young son and I to start training at. After checking out several in the area, Samurai Academy impressed me the most. By far one of the smaller schools, each class that I’ve attended has only had a hand full of students. This is great, since the student gets more attention from the instructor. Also Sensei Daniel is an amazing instructor. After you meet him, it’s easy to see he cares more about teaching and helping his students progress than the bottom line. That is a rare find in today’s era of “commercial” martial arts schools.
Great Classes, great Dojo. Son has been attending for 2 years now.
A cut above the rest: The owner and lead instructor, Daniel, immediately put people at ease, kids, adults, and seniors. Hes got a really soft, sweet character that belies his deep knowledge and practice of martial arts.He is a great teacher, and the rest of the students (of all ages) are friendly and share a love for the art forms. Some travel from a ways away because this few places teach Judo in the traditional way, including the self-defense and cultural aspects (most just teach to the Olympic sport).
Sensei Daniel is awesome! Hes extremely patient and passionate about teaching. You can tell that he really wants to turn you into a better fighter!
They are amazing! Our son loved going to his lessons. Daniel is great with the kids!
This is the best dojo in Orange County. Been a part of it for over ten years and I would never leave it. I have learned so much here such as, honor, self defense, martial art traditions, respect, and discipline. The Samurai Academy follows a beautiful list of principals and the teachers work with you as slow or as fast as you need. I hope you try it out because once you join you wont want to leave.
Very old school Dojo, they do real martial arts here not some corporate take your money kinda place and promote you when the owner needs a brake job. Visit and see for yourself.
Over the years I have trained Jiu Jitsu on and off at this academy. Although the instructor does not offer Jiu Jitsu he is a world class Judo athlete and Ive witnessed him grapple with those of other arts and roll all over them. The team here is very polite and the academy teaches good morals. If youre looking for a great all around academy stop by the samurai academy you wont regret it.
I love this Dojo. They treat you like family not a money machine. Sensei is wonderful with kids and very knowledgeable. Their priority is safety and my kids have lots of fun learning. I Highly recommend this Dojo!
