Christian gave me the best hair styling Ive gotten since I lived in NYC in the late 80s.He even took care to layer the front instead of just snipping straight across as most barbers and stylists do. The other stylists seemed to be doing fine jobs with their clients hair as well. I highly recommend Arisinal Hair Company.

Roy was nice, but I dont think he understood what I wanted as an end result. I dont think he listened to me at all. I didnt like the final result the next day as it looks like there are no layers and its all one length throughout and with how I style my hair I need something with layers ( I told him 3 times I needed more layers). Seemed like he just gave me a trim...It was an expensive haircut that ended up with no style. I went back and Michelle was great, I felt like she listened to me and produced something I wanted. It looks great and my hair feels light and bouncy. And for some reason it looks red now (no color added), which happens sometimes to my hair when it gets cut shorter and has layers because I have natural red highlights, so yay I know it was done right! It was notated the 2nd time it was cut uneven and had little layering, she fixed those mistakes very well.. I wouldnt recommend Roy at all, Id go back to Michelle.

Natalie is the best! Shes super sweet and amazing at what she does. Ive gone to her twice now and each time Ive been blown out of the water by what she does. I have very curly hair that I like to keep short and she never disappoints. Everyone else that Ive met there is very sweet too; they always make me feel welcomed.

Worst highlights I have ever received. Took forever and came out looking like a cheap bleached blond. Zero blending and looked like I had 1/2 inch growth when I left. I have gotten highlights for years and I am literally embarrassed by this mess! Girl also gave me attitude when she began to dry and style. I told her that was exactly the way I did not want it. I specifically communicated this BEFORE she began. It’s been only 1month and my hair looks like color from a drugstore . I have no idea how this place has such positive reviews.

Michelle is amazing!! She cut and styled my hair effortlessly. I was always cautious of my hair being too thin to style since most comment on how thin my hair is. Michelle never made these comments instead she made me feel comfortable with my hair, and the results turned out to be super cute.

We all know that covid restrictions have forced many of us to re-visit going grey and how to return to going back to work or in public after a year of going wild... and after age 60, it gets more challenging as your hair really changes in texture and seems to get thinner. I consulted with at least 3 other reputed colorists in the general area. Most salons seemed reluctant (or flat out refused) to attempt to undertake a gradual multi-step process to help me transition to adding grey.. Christian and Lori did have me come in for the face to face consult, they viewed the pic I brought in, cautioned me it would take many steps to get there tastefully and to NOT expect or request a radical change. Costs and time investments were crystal clear up front. I went today, and we re-visit our goal and Lori did all the steps and explained each one during the processing. Bottom line: Very professional, very realistic mutually agreed-upon goals, open-mindedness, clean, calm, and no time wasted. I love the outcome and now I have the beautiful base upon which we will continue my grey transition. very very very pleased with my results- totally natural and NOT harsh or artificial looking...i highly recommend Lori and this studio and I will be back every 8 weeks...

I’ve had my hair cut here before and loved the hairdresser who did my hair. I recommended her to my family and they loved her too. Called recently to set up an appointment and the man on the phone was incredibly rude, impatient, and disrespectful. Won’t ever be spending money here again.

I had virgin hair and went in and got a peach color done by Lori! She was super fun and friendly and the environment was welcoming. Lori educated me on products used, techniques used, and also helped me decide on a suitable color! All other employees gave off a warm and welcoming energy as well and the experience overall was very enjoyable for my first time ever dyeing my hair! Lori made me laugh and shared a lot of insightful comments that made the experience even better. In the past, I haven’t been able to find a stylist I truly enjoy and Artisinal changed that for me. I will definitely be coming back, if anyone is still unsure of visiting it’s 100% worth it. In regards to Covid, the place is very clean and they follow all protocols necessary making it an even more valuable experience! I just had my hair cut and colored by Lori. She was very thorough in her questions, as this was my first time to Artisinal Hair Salon. The color she did was SPOT ON to what I have always wanted but never had a stylist nail in the past. Lori gave me a fantastic cut and walked me through how to style it. This salon is very cozy and welcoming, and well worth every cent.

I went to Artisinal Hair Co. to save my hair after a little home “experiment” & I haven’t looked back since. Roy literally worked wonders with my hair... I didn’t have to do anything to my hair for MONTHS and people would compliment the color... Every time I leave my hair looks/feels healthy... Roy never disappoints! They also sell quality products for curly hair that are 10/10. The place is clean and the staff is all very welcoming.

WARNING: This will be a long review only because I want to make it known how happy I am and the reasons why.A summary of my FIRST experience and as a future reoccurring customer at Artisinal Hair Company is that I am stupendously impressed!! I came in to get a haircut, to tone down my hair color from all-over-blonde, and wanted a balayage effect. I scheduled with Nikki based on a friends reference and from reviewing her work on her instagram. From start to finish, I felt taken care of by a true professional and backed by her amazing assistant Maria! Based on my experience in forms of service, all checks on my list have been satisfied~- Location: Easy to find and there is parking across the street or using park mobile right out front.- Atmosphere and work environment: Im all about work culture, work environment, and of course the design of a commercial space. The store is very organized (well thought out and with obvious stations), bright or natural light, and of course my favorite - well decorated with healthy plants (if they have a green thumb, they also have a health and beauty hair thumb). Even the inventory was stocked in a way that looked very colorful and appealing. I arrived around 3pm and the business seemed busy, but I mean in a good way. Since I had an appointment, I was quickly met by Nikki. There were maybe like 6 employees? From what I could see, all were attending to clients or spaced out throughout the salon. And if any were seemingly standing around, you could tell on closer look that it was a result of efficiency. I love a business that continues to improve themselves through mentorship or building positive relationships with their clients. You can definitely sense a genuine and positive vibe.- Professionalism and workmanship: I was immediately greeted when I walked in. Nikki discussed her plan for my hair and always told me what she was going to do/when next. Any questions I had about hair or at random, she provided me with an answer. When an assistant helped finish with another client, Maria asked Nikki if she needed help. Both ladies worked harmoniously on my hair and while keeping me occupied with chatter. Thanks to being in the care of both ladies, my appointment only lasted ~2.5 hrs. Maria also gives amazing head massages when it is hair wash time. I overheard Nikkis mentorship to a fellow employee and the way she discussed my hair plan. I didnt understand what it meant but it was very technical in hair jargon and knowledge. During any waiting time, Nikki was attentive and asked if I needed anything. Such as a coffee with cream and sugar - which I gratefully took (I was getting sleepy from feeling so relaxed).- Hair: Im still trying to learn more about hair terminology but I believe it was for a one-process ash brown tone. I came in with all-over blonde and with 2 inch of my natural black hair coming in. I wanted lower maintenance and Nikki did not disappoint. She brought down the tone to the all-over-blonde so my dark roots would look more natural as they grow in. The method Nikki and Maria used only took one time to tone and the result gave me dimension.- Price: Both hair color and cut services are highly reasonable, especially in the DMV area. For the quality you get, you will feel overly satisfied! Also by chance, there was a 20% deal on products with hair service. I got the bedroom (texture) spray and body mass (volume) treatment to help spice up my flat hair.

Genet gave me an amazing haircut. I had long messy hair when I entered and very clean and styled short hair when I left. Everyone there is very nice and personable. Communication was great. Very clean and I felt safe as can be. Will surely be back.

The only complaint I have is the parking 😂 Sure the prices are high but they give high quality services. I would definitely reccomend this place to anyone who doesn’t have a tight budget!

Malea is AMAZING. I went in to touch up my balayage and she did that and more!! She was so thoughtful of the placement of color, even making sure I still feel nice and blond when my hair is up in a pony. Genet will absolutely be the reason I return to Artisinal - she made sure all of my needs were met and exceeded my expectations after I had gone without color for over five months. A few weeks ago I had my hair colored, trimmed, and blown out by Natalie. With very long, medium-thick hair, this was no simple feat. Natalie took her time and was very patient and delicate with all of my long hair. She listened to my requests, made great conversation, and put together her own mixture of colors to brighten and add bits of light pink throughout my hair for some added fun.Once I got home, at first I felt like the color was a little darker than I had thought it would be. But, after another wash, it was definitely as bright as I had hoped for! I absolutely love the natural tones and little pieces of pink which are blended together perfectly. Thank you Natalie for a wonderful experience!! Ill be back soon!

So clean and professional every time i come here. I am always asked if I’m thirsty, if I need anything. Everyone here is extremely nice. When I arrive, I am taken back to the chair, even when I’m a little early. Their products are the best quality. A little expensive, but if you want great hair than you’re getting what you paid for!! I’ve never heard anyone not like their hair and even once when it wasn’t exactly what I wanted because of my communication skills, she gave my hair time to revive & I came in and she did it again for me for free!!! I was looking for a new stylist and came upon Lori on Facebook so I decided to take a chance and I am so glad I did!!!!! I made an appointment not really knowing what I wanted to do to my hair cause I knew it had been very damaged. I met Lori for the first time. Just had my first appointment with Malea at Artisinal Hair Co. I have enough hair for 3 people, and wanted to turn my very dark hair to blonde. I know this is quite a process, so I know expectations have to be managed. Malea far surpassed anything I could I have hoped to achieved! My daughters and I always have the best experience when we go to this salon, but two of us have been in the last week and I just had to leave a review. We both saw Lori and she is incredible. She took care of my hair and to say it was rough was an understatement. She did an amazing job and I can’t wait to go back to see her for extensions. This is my second time visiting the salon, and Ive trusted Lori with my request both times. Normally michelle does a beautiful job with ash platinum highlights, unfortunately she was out sick and we were offered Chelsi. hair came out yellow and has badly placed streak in front with no other highlights ontop..and despite asking to get the level and toner details from michelle they did not apply it and blamed us requesting a new color based on our showing her a picture for VOLUME.

Artisinal Hair Salon pays attention to their customers, welcoming them from the moment they cross the threshold. My coat was hung, water or tea was offered, Frankie, the dog, came by and quietly lay at my feet. My hair has never looked better due to the skill of Christian (color) and Spencer (cut). In one word their approach, is Meticulous..As a result of their skills, I am a very happy woman.

Christian was always there to assist whenever he see fit. He definitely knows his craft. Overall, I am very happy with the outcome of my hair color. Definitely gained a new client!

This is the second time I came to Artisinal Hair and had my hair done by Lori. I always leave feeling like a million bucks! I enjoy the conversations we have and the knowledge she shares. Lori takes her time and really makes sure your hair is perfect. Before you leave she styles your hair, which makes me feel even better about myself. I highly recommend Lori, and I’ll continue to follow her!

I’ve never been to this shop before but my stylist Chelsi started working here. It’s very eclectic and lovely inside! The other coworkers were friendly and well put together as well. Their protocols for the virus were done we’re also followed.

I have had my daughter at a couple different salons in the past. While they did a good job Lori at Artisinal is by far the best. She did a fantastic job coloring Brieanna’s hair and getting it just as she wanted. More importantly Lori made her feel like it was all about her. It was a very personalized experience for Brieanna. She doesn’t usually say much but she spoke very highly of Lori and her experience at Artisinal. Thank you so much Lori. Brieanna will be back to see you for her salon needs. Well worth the drive.

I just moved here from Northern VA and I saw a Tori for a haircut on my challenging wavy hair. I’m very particular and she was amazing! She was patient with me and took time to listen to my thoughts and past history. She gave me probably the best hair cut I’ve had in 8 years. I can not recommend enough!

This is not your typical salon. They really focus on giving you special care and a great experience every time! I cannot recommend Spenser enough! He takes his time talking to you about exactly the cut you want and his dry cut attention to detail is phenomenal. Spenser always makes sure I am completely happy with the way my hair looks every single time. And his head massage during the shampoo process is to die for!!

I came in looking like a hot mess with multi-colored hair that had parts box dyed and new hair. I asked to go from darker brunette to balayage blonde and Roy worked his magic! He was so meticulous, friendly, and down to Earth! By far the best salon experience I have ever had. I’ve never left an appointment satisfied which is why I also go back to the box dyes but not this time! I will never touch my own hair again as long as Roy is within driving distance. I highly recommend this business and everyone in their also did a wonderful job on their clients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
