My dog was having spine issues and we could not find a place open in our area (Sarasota) that had an MRI. I called Blue Pearl Ft. Myers, and told them my situation. They let me know there machine was up and running and to come in. I told them I was coming from Sarasota and my eta. My wife and I with our injured dog drove 1.5 hours south just to be told there machine is not on and the do not do scans on Sunday! Three hours wasted while our dog is in severe pain in the back seat. This is just another chain emergency vet that has no care or compassion. Please avoid if possible. Terrible communication and lack of credibility. If they say we don’t have record of your visit in the comments, it is because we communicated only on the phone. It will just be another way they try and justify this review. Be warned.

I had a great experience with Dr. Heintz and the whole staff. My 7 yo lab had a seizure a day earlier. Then she started vomiting on an hourly basis and was getting worse throughout the night, whimpering and throwing up blood. I took her in at 3 AM, and she was seen immediately. The doctor and the rest of the staff could not have been nicer. She got great treatment and medications. We have been home for two days, and she has not vomited or seized again. I didn’t think the price was unreasonable for a fully staffed animal ER that evaluated the dog at 3 AM. I feel so lucky to have this night ER in Ft. Myers.

Geo is my Geoffrey cub. Breed and born in the USA. On Dec. 21 2020 he fell from his cat tree and landed on his head knocking him unconscious for ten minutes. I was 20 mins. from Blue Pearl but made it in 15. As I arrived a front desk assistant came to the door and I handed over Geoto her and explained as much as possible in a short second. She wasted no time in getting Geo back to the doctor. She came back with paper work to fill out. A technician came to speak to me about how Geo was doing and treatment options. I spook with the doctor and he was clear and understanding in what he told me.I chose to have Geo stay the night as they would probably do better then I could. The first estimate was some what explosive so we worked on all my options. The staff was very helpful and kind. After settling with an overnight stay I was given a price and agreed to it. 12 hours later I went to pick up Geo and he was better, a lot better. After an IV and a 40% oxygen box he looked better. Then to my surprise the front desk assistant ask me for my credit card. At first I thought here we go with a price increase. But I was wrong and she told me that I had a refund! I told her that I was a little surprised at their honesty. They could have charged me what we agreed on but they are an honest Emergency Animal Hospital. Obviously! I highly recommend Blue Pearl to anyone in need of a professional Vet/Animal Hospital . I am so grateful that they took such great care of Geo. Its been 48 hour since his fall and hes almost back to full throttle. I love him so much. Thank you all at Blue Pearl for your caring of animals and all your professionalism.Mark Bentley

Absolutely the worst. Brought my cat Kelly in for an emergency and was given the run around. I was told by the staff that if I didn’t like it, I can take my cat somewhere else. When I became angry at the callousness of that statement, one of the techs came out to my car. She thought she would put me in my place and she proceeded to argue with me in the parking lot. Then I was told by the so-called “doctor” that my cat needed to be euthanized. I signed the AMA (against medical advice) form and took my Kelly out of there. I got an appointment with South Gate Vet (Dr. Ole is absolutely wonderful and compassionate) and she was given two injections. Kelly is doing so much better now, thank God. DO NOT take your pet to Blue Pearl. They’re overpriced and barbaric. Like many others, if I could give negative stars I would.

Met with Dr. Scroggin to talk about the next step in trying to figure out what is going on with my dog. It has been a stressful time for us and he listened to what our concerns were and looked at all of the information we already had before looking at our next steps. He was honest and straightforward about the different options and also took into consideration that we had already spent alot of money on our dog without any answers up to this point. I really appreciated that and in the end we found out what was going on. At the end of the day, we went over the different steps we could take and the likelihood that those solutions would work or not. Overall, I would recommend them if you havent received any answers from your primary but keep in mind they are a specialty vet which comes with a higher cost.

When we called to ask questions regarding our dog and we decided to take him there this evening it would have been nice to have been told that there would be a two to four hour wait. When we got there and found the doors unlocked and that we were not allowed to enter due to covid we were perplexed. The sign on the door gave the optional to wearing masks if we had been vaccinated. If youre not going to allow patients in why was that necessary? We found the receptionist to be a bit abbrasive and borderline rude. When she opened the door she asked which car was ours and that we were to wait there until we could be seen. When she first greeted us she asked what do you want? I explained we had called and things went down hill with her from there. Were giving them a three only because a tech did try to help us. What he did only lasted a little while but he did not charge us so we cant complain there. Would not go back there after this experience.

We came to the very difficult decision that it was time to put our 13 year dog down. Unfortunately this time came on a weekend and we didnt think it was fair to our dog to wait until regular office hours at the vet he had been to before. So we went to this place. BIG MISTAKE. They botched his euthanasia. They injected him with the first dose to make him relaxed and go to sleep before the pentobarbital. It DIDNT work. Doctor Levine said the catheter wasnt done correctly he needed to go get more meds. After more waiting, 2 techs came in that we had not seen before and said they need to shave his other leg to put another catheter in and I was surprised (and very emotional since this wasnt going well) and said you cant do that to him! They asked if we wanted the doctor, we said yes. Waiting more. (Yes I get it that we arent the only ones there, but we are putting our dog down and you botched this thing). We go out to find out where Dr. Levine is and if you can believe this: he said that we were rude to the techs and if we wanted to we should take our dog somewhere else! So we waited again, the techs came back and our dog was so fully of anxiety and growled and tried to bite them as they were trying to put the 2nd catheter in him. So now they said they had to muzzle him. I had to walk out - they finally were able to get the damn thing in and then more waiting for Dr. Levine. He finally came in, our dog was so frightened and full of anxiety at that point, I just wanted this over. The shot worked this time, THANK GOD.Dr. Levine was the most uncaring vet I have ever come across. This vet decided it was important to escalate this situation rather than stop telling us how rude we were and that we were lucky we didnt wait longer because there were many other people there ahead of us, etc...(I wish we had a video, because we were not rude at all - concerned, sad, irritated at the horrible process and above all helpless to help our poor dog who was frightened). He CHOSE to escalate this situation with stupid accusations instead of just getting the situation with our dog under control. DONT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. THEY ARE VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

No one wants to hear your animal needs emergency surgery let alone finding this out late in the evening on our 17 month old puppy. Knowing our veterinarian highly recommended BluePearl and with our previous experience with Dr. Ferrell, it put our mind at ease during a very stressful time. Dr. Ferrell provides excellent care and is dedicated to helping animals when they are at their worst. The 24/7 availability makes it possible to go in for an emergency and check on the status of your pet day and night. Dr. Chris Ferrell deserves a huge compliment. He takes the time to explain the procedure, option A and B once surgery is started, informs us about when lab work and biopsy results would be available, answers our million questions, plus followed up with multiple phones calls while our puppy was a patient. Dr. Ferrell explained the procedure in terms we understood while showing patience, calmness, and clearly a very skilled veterinarian. It is evident he treats his clients pets like his own.I would also like to compliment the two techs who assisted us from the beginning once we arrived at the hospital later in the evening. Abby was one of the two techs who explained everything to us, including the breakdown of the cost. Unfortunately, in the craziness of hearing all the information, I forgot the name of the second person with Abby, but she was incredibly helpful as well. Both ladies made sure we understood what was being done, the process of dropping off and picking up, option A and B during surgery, as well as making sure we correctly signed the paperwork. In such an unfortunate situation, they made sure we felt comfortable and without a doubt, we knew our puppy would be well taken care of during his stay at Blue Pearl.I highly recommend BluePearl during the trying times. With COVID procedures in place and not being able to enter the building, we still felt connected to what was going on and kept informed of the process even when we left for the night. These are the dedicated people you want in your corner during the difficult times.

I like short reviews so all I can say is this hospital is a big ripoff. Go to Cape Coral if you can. Too bad they dont have negative stars. The vet that was on duty on 4/27 at 4am needs to brush up on his manners and be more sensitive. The procedure you quoted for $1,100.00 was done at another emergency hospital for $350.00. You wonder how these people can go home and look at themselves in the mirror. They still charged $115.00 for consultation. Never mind you cant go in the building due to Covid. Must be stressful having all those bills to pay and have to rip off people in order to do so. Is this what you went to Vet school for.

Overpriced, scam, uncaring... there’s a lot of words I’d like to use to describe this place.1) COVID protocol is ridiculous & the only place that isn’t allowing you to go in with your pet.2) Everything feels very “business like” — IE: Before even seeing our pup (who had been throwing up every 5 minutes for an entire day) they came out with a $1,400 quote that “would test everything and give us a definitive answer...” I thought maybe checking him out may be the first protocol, but??? They also gave us every different type of medicine you can imagine, basically saying here you go try all of this, but you’ll never really know what it is.3) After coming back and telling us they found NOTHING and that he would need a CT scan the next day and that “it would be the more costly part of this process” ( As if $1200 dollars already was pocket change?) we decided to take him home and treat him ourselves - he has improved over the week, and our vet (Grace Vet in Estero - CANNOT RECOMMEND THEM ENOUGH, we love them) told us it was an upper respiratory infection.4) After 4 hours of us sitting in the parking lot and him being back there alone, the doctor says that they haven’t seen any of the behavior we mentioned in that entire time... The minute we get him in the car, he starts vomiting again, twice... Clearly, they were not watching or attending to him and my heart broke knowing he was probably sitting back there panicked, vomiting, and alone. Awful. They know how much people care about their pets, to the point that they’ll spend whatever necessary to help them - Which obviously they pry on and we fell into. Absolutely terrible and will never be taking our pup back here.

The old bait and switch. I’m very glad my kitty is alive. With that said, why was I quoted $1100 and then charged $2200? We picked the cat up 24 hours after she was dropped off and agreed to the initial quote of $1100, that’s the amount we authorized. Nope, we owed $2200 when we picked her up. No explanation as to the 200% increase of the quote. And they were so “busy”, there wasn’t anyone to speak with, other than the receptionist. Get everything in writing and don’t put your trust in their verbal quote. I couldn’t fathom running a business like this but hey, you don’t get anywhere being honest in this world.

Just the name alone Blue Pearl sounds expensive, we took our Frenchton here for an emergency C-section during business hours and after they looked at our dog, they came out to the parking lot where we were waiting and gave us a list procedures that we felt were totally unnecessary. The list had 29 line items for a total of $4000.00. They only good thing that Blue Pearl did for us was recommend Colonial Animal Hospital. We called Colonial and they said it would be $600 for the C-section. We drove straight there and they quickly took our baby to the back for her procedure. You could tell as soon as we walked in how attentive the staff are and at colonial both dr. and staff genuinely cared for the pets and their owners. They told us it would be a little over an hour to complete, they called us once she was done and we were able to bring our dog and her babies home with us. The front office staff, in specific Amber, are beyond unethical, unprofessional, and outright verbally aggressive. Spare yourself the horrible experience and go anywhere else. Anywhere else has to be better than here- The front office staff is absolutely rude, unprofessional, incredibly disrespectful, and just inhumane.Their clinic manager and doctors seem to support these abhorrent behaviors, and thus there is simply no accountability here to actually be professional and simply treat customers with a basic level of humanity, empathy and respect. If they are this nasty to humans who can talk and defend themselves, I can’t even imagine how they must treat innocent animals who can’t fend for themselves. Beware- stay away. I ended up going to another 24 hour clinic called Colonial Animal Hospital. The staff was kind, empathetic, and caring. They didn’t explain what was wrong or anything just said we need to do all this things. After reviewing and thinking I took him home. A little while the doctor came out and basically called me a terrible owner for wanting to take him home and not paying the 2,500$ he still couldn’t tell me what he thought was wrong with my cat or anything. Let’s just say that this “Fancy Emergency $Vet$ Clinic” is sadly an epic fail!My dog had a bad allergic reaction and after calling our regular vet we were recommended to go to Blue Pearl as our vet did not have any open appointments and we felt it to be an emergency. We drove 30 mins to this place only to find out that we needed to fill out a form, put it into a box outside the door and wait in our vehicle. For starters, The BS “Covid Protocol” procedure is ridiculous! You can’t accompany your fur baby into the facility! That doesn’t work well for pets who have difficulty with separation anxiety and are very skittish and are already scared. The tech tried to “pull” my 80 lb dog into the facility with a thin blue choke collar that she had brought out with her, it got so tight that my dog was badly choking!I told her That wasn’t happening!! I was then told by the “Emergency Vet Tech” “that we could go somewhere else!” She had No patience, no compassion, just showed frustration and rudeness to us and I left there in tears!I then googled to find another Emergency Vet in the area and Colonial Veterinary came up. We called them, told them what happened to our girl, made our way over there, and were greeted with a warmth and compassion! The staff was amazing! We were still having difficulty getting our girl out of our van (as she was still traumatized from the encounter we had at your place), and when I let the staff know, they reassured us that they would do whatever it took to see her and would send the Doctor/ Owner himself Dr. Foxwell out to our van to examine her! He was amazing as was their staff! Full of patience, love, and compassion for animals and their owners. We were treated with respect and that was wonderful! Take a lesson from your colleagues over at Colonial! My girl is home after being given a shot and some meds and doing great! Thank God for Colonial Veterinary!

Please read this before taking a pet to this place!I want to share the complete experience and what to expect so what happened to me won’t happen to you!First and foremost this is a business and this business is about lining their pocket book and not about your pet. And this is how my experience went.It was a late Saturday nite and my 13 year old female German Shepard became extremely ill. Not having many options we chose blue pearl to give us the best possible care and advice for our girl. After arriving and waiting in the parking lot with out the option of bringing her inside the facility ourself, I soon discovered the real reason why. They did triage in the parking lot and after realizing just how severely ill she was they brought out a cart and I loaded her onto the cart and watched as they took her inside. They soon sent out the cute car salesman to give you multiple estimates on the care required. That’s right multiple!! The first was for nearly $6000!!!! And the second was roughly $4000! That’s right they could either give her great care or sub great care depending on what you could afford!!! Taking advantage of how much you care for your pet!! After explaining that my financial situation would not allow for such astronomical charges. The million dollar question came!!! Well what can you afford to pay??? After being embarrassed to explain personal issues in life that prevented my being able to afford this. I decided I would use my mortgage payment soon do and use that to try and give my 13 year old girl the best possible chance to survive. After all as pet owner you can’t imagine that this is it! The end! Which by the way was never even discussed as the best option. The salesman took back the information and returned with a new estimate, the 3rd or 4th of the night. At this point I signed. So before care is given the accountant comes out and explains that you must pay NOW!! Before we consider taking care of your pet!!! So you pay! After picking my girl Sunday afternoon because that’s all the time I payed for at the hotel. Check out time is noon. Hoping to see that somehow this effort was a success. Tears flowed on the drive home realizing that I did little to nothing for her.A few days later when her real vet got to see her it was explained clearly that it was time. We cried together and said goodbye! No money exchanged hands before they cared for her. No deals on how much I could afford! Just the right thing. No $6000 estimate to find out what her situation was. Just a professional veterinarian with enough experience to know.If I could of given less than one star I would of. I hope this helps someone that believes that this place is anything more than a business!! Money is their priority not the care of your pet.

However, during his last days at BluePearl, I was incredibly comforted to know he was being looked after with such care. The staff was comforting and responsive; they kept him company and kept us updated frequently. They gave us honest outlooks and recommendations for care, and let us visit him in a comfortable setting.Other than being at home with his family, there was no better place for him to be during his last few days. We have had two occasions in the last three years to depend on the physicians and staff at Blue Pearl to treat our dogs. Both had very positive outcomes. The most recent was eight weeks ago when our Fox Terrier broke his left front leg. Dr. Ferrill and his team did an amazing job of mending, treating and rehabilitating his leg to a full recovery with only a small scar to indicate anything ever happened. Their caring attitude and expert care are just what are needed when a pet emergency occurs. We are so fortunate to have a facility like Blue Pearl in our community for pet health emergencies.Lon Acheson

Took our little man Bentley to BluePearl several weeks ago after having a seizure. Im happy with the decision to come here because they were very caring, professional, and knowledge. They took Bentley in immediately and ran test that were needed. The perceptions he needed were filled there and he is now doing much better. We live in Cape and one hospital was closed and Viscaya-Prado told us they had to many appointments and couldnt help him... regardless the distance to BluePearl we wont take Bentley anywhere else ever because they truly care unlike some of the others I mentioned. They are GREAT.

We took our cat to Blue Pearl due to abnormal actions. Come to find out he had urinary books age which we had a feeling. We were told its very common in male cats. Simple but pricey procedure. They called us back very quickly and said it was done already but he would need to remain for 48-72 hours for observation or we could transfer him to our primary for observation. Due to cost we chose to transfer him. As he was under observation our primary vet discovered that Blue Pearl had torn our cats urethra. Mind you, we were in the hospital having a baby when we got this news. Essentially we were told there was nothing that could be done to fix it and we had to put him down. Devastated is an understatement. Our vet said in his 40 years he has never seen this happen. So we told Blue Pearl what happened, calmly, allowing opportunity for them to own up to the mistake as we had xrays and our vet stood behind us as an expert witness. We were met with disgusting attitude and no remorse. We were told we werent getting a dime of our money back and sorry we felt that way. This place is awful and only cares about making a buck. Do not take your animals here!

I was referred to SVS by my local vet. My beloved senior dog Otto was 15 years young and developed a form of mouth cancer and would need a specialized surgery to safely remove it. I was worried at his advanced age it would be too much for him but since he was in such good health otherwise we proceeded with the surgery SVS and I am so glad we did. My senior boy received the absolute best care from the surgeon and staff and he made a full recovery!! Not only did we notice him eating better but also without pain! He was feeling so good once the tumor was gone he was like a young pup again! I am so happy I made the decision to go ahead with the surgery and grateful for the expert care that we were able to receive at SVS.

I had the most wonderful experience with BluePearl! Everyone of the staff members is so caring and passionate about what they do. They work as a team to help patience in any situation and work with you to keep costs down. Dr. Agent explained everything plain and simple for us to understand. Like most emergencies, no one ever plans for it to happen. And, each staff member was understanding in that regard too, financially and otherwise. As much as we wish to not go back, I am assured that no matter what crazy things happen to my pets the staff at BluePearl are there and ready to help any way they can. Thank you all for the wonder things you have done for me and my fur family!

My dog was very sick and I took her there. Was told that some very serious tests were necessary including red and white cell count. 2 hours of waiting, over $1,200 bill, and I was given bunch of meds to give to my beloved 8 year old, and the assurance that there were no major issues unless I was willing to go for more tests (about 4 more grant). The next morning I gave my dog their meds, 3 hours later she was dead.Called them 2 days later, explained the situation and requested a partial refund. They “got back” to me in 2 days to say my case wasn’t “eligible for any refund “.You decide folks if this is a place you can trust.

Her symptoms continued to worsen and she was so out of it. We were terrified that our brand new baby was seriously injured or neurologically ill.We are still waiting to see if my puppies symptoms get better by the morning, but Dr. Sage and her vet techs are amazing and so caring!!! This was my first time at this emergency vet and hopefully the last. I had a very pleasant and positive experience. The prices are very high. I paid more for this ER visit than I did for the dog, but high prices are expected at an ER.

We were a bit of a special case, we originally were going to be dropping off a neighborhood, injured, stray for the Good Sam drop off. We bombarded them with questions and wanted to know every little detail so we can find the best route for recovery. Now with the stray being on the feral side and literally wouldnt allow them to touch or approach her, along with a fractured and shredded back leg, they held their compassion when we decided to go ahead with an exam, they are true professionals. They were so honest and understanding. I spoke with Shelly, Shelby and Dr. Lavine on May 25 them and their entire receptionist team were incredible. I highly suggest to anyone who needs these kind of services to give them a call and see what they can do for you, I felt completely comfortable talking to them. Thanks again to all the efforts of Blue Pearl, Gemini has made it successfully through her leg amputation and has made it to a forever home and had her first few little meals since Monday. I had the unfortunate decision to put down one of my dogs after he attacked one of my other dogs. It was an incredibly difficult decision and very emotional. The staff was absolutely incredible. Two days after having to make that decision, we received a sympathy card from the staff. My wife and I cried.Unfortunately, we werent finished with Blue Pearl. Our dog that was attacked developed what turned out to be a life threatening infection in her shoulder. In the first of her two significant surgeries, they had to put in a drain tube. The entire staff knew what had happened to our female boxer and knew how difficult the situation was for our family. After two days, we took our girl back because she didnt seem to be responding well. The doctors told us that she would have to undergo a second surgery to clean the wound and pack it. Equally important, we would have to return everyday for at least a week. Our girl was very very ill. This all occurred over the Christmas holiday. The staff was just incredible. Everyone did everything they could to help us and give us comfort.Fortunately, our girl responded very well to the second round of treatment and she turned the corner after a couple of days. The entire staff knows my boxer when she walks in the door. We should have her stitches out in about 8 days. The staff at Blue Pearl saved our girl, but its how they did it that is important. Everyone on the staff knew our situation and always kept that in mind. While I hope I never see the staff again, if I do, I know that my pet will get the best care possible.

Whoever answers the phone here during emergency hours has no sign of compassion and she should not be working in this field or interacting with any humankind for that matter. Also, they are more concerned about turning animals over to CROW than actually saving the animals lives or addressing their immediate emergency and/or lifesaving needs. As this is an ER vet is it not? Some things can’t wait, and there is definitely a need for a specialist or wildlife/exotic animal vet readily available. However, when I called for help (and was willing to pay) for a helpless, baby animal I recently rescued, the vibe that I got was that any animals species besides “cats and dogs” are not valued whatsoever here. In fact, they are considered “invasive” and not of importance. So, if you’re a huge animal lover like me and love all...You have been warned.

The research we did in advance showed a range of $350-$750 for that type of surgery. They were going to charge us $4,000 to have a pre-surgery geriatric check and the rest was for the amputation. The doctor told me himself its a 20 minute procedure. We will have to go elsewhere. Paid the $105 consultation fee and left.

The only good thing about this place was the first vet tech I encountered with red hair. Too bad I got there around shift change because the next shift was horrible and they were extremely rude. Vet came out to me to tell me my poor sick cat whos not really breathing would need to be in the hospital for 48 hours. All the treatment he needed and medications all added up to $3,000 round about. This place is extremely over priced, and I was willing to make payments. All they did was give my cat oxygen, and shave a little bit of his left arm and bandage it(which I didnt like that ). They wanted me to agree to drawing blood which I told the first vet tech it was fine and then the second one was just super rude to me and misunderstood me and instead of trying to understand that I was telling her Ill get the blood work done she said well youre only paying for the consultation. They were upset because I didnt want to put my cat down and told me that I was making him suffer, no you are making him suffer because you want me to pay that huge amount and if I dont then you send me a way so in the long run you are making him suffer.. No one truly wanted to help him, at least Animal Er was kind enough to give him fluids, and some medication. These people are a joke! If you want someone who cares absolutely dont come here. The vet only saw me once and after I said I wasnt going to get the rest of the hat stuff done he never came back out and when I asked to speak to him the vet tech said no he already spoke to you earlier. This place does care about feelings and showed absolutely no remorse toward me or my animal, and then had a nerve to say well I have to make you sign a paper saying that you are refusing medical attention, NO IM NOT REFUSING MEDICAL ATTENTION, I WOULD HAVE LOVED FOR HIM TO STAY THERE BUT YOU FORCED ME TO LEAVE BECAUSE YOU SAID IF I CANT PAY 3,000 WE HAD TO LEAVE.. SO IF THAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER WELL IT SHOULDNT, JUST BECAISE PEOPLE CANT PAY A HIGH PRICE YOU SHOULDNT TRY TO MAKE THEM FEEL BAD. The first vet tech with red hair was extremely sweet, but the second one with the curly hair had an attitude, if you want service you should think about placing people there that actually love their job.

I decided to pass on spending the 6k and shop around.I found a orthopedic vet surgeon the next day who quoted me 1,900 to fix the leg! I would never recommend Blue Pearl to anyone, because to them it is about the money. My little girl made it through her surgery safely and I am thankful I chose a caring surgeon over Blue Pearl!! SHOP AROUND! do not let them guilt you into paying a ridiculous cost.EDIT: I would like to say, before they give the sob story about being an ER vet. We took my dog for intractable vomiting. FIVE HOURS later we were finished. The vet, and the tech were very nice, and extremely knowledgeable. The vet instructed us to come back in 12 hours for repeat x-rays but not to feed him before we arrived. After sitting in the exam room for ONE HOUR, from noon until 1:05, seeing NOBODY, but hearing a lot of fun, excited chatter, I went out and asked how much longer we’d have to wait. My dog was hungry. The receptionist called someone to ask. She said they were “crazy busy,” with “lots of critical patients,” and she had no idea when we’d be seen, but we were “welcome” to come back later. There was ONE man in the waiting room when we arrived. He was still there when we left waiting for his wife and dog to emerge, and no additional cars in the parking lot. So BE PREPARED TO WAIT ... AND WAIT... AND WAIT, with no communication and lots of “critical patients”. I understand “critical patients.”Perhaps if the receptionist had told us in the beginning about all these “critical patients,” we could have fed the dog — and ourselves— and returned later. Poor, poor patient service. Since they’re the only such “game” in town, they can whoop it up and have a great time with all those “critical patients.”

After speaking with me he immediately had one of the vet techs back to see my baby. She was suffering but he explained to me that they would try everything through the night to help her. He called me shortly after I got home and explained Darlas test results and X-ray results which I was grateful for. He then called me in the morning and informed me of her condition which wasn’t good. My friend and I went to see her and I made the decision to put her to sleep. Dr. Levine and Dr. Sages are AMAZING ER vets! My primary vet made the very common mistake of misdiagnosing my dogs Addisons disease for pancreatitis. Following his hospitalization, his symptoms were worsening so I rushed him to Blue Pearl. Based off of the very limited information I provided, Dr. Levine suspected a misdiagnosis and suggested I get my pup tested for Addisons - a rare disease often overlooked by vets. My dog was about to have an Addisonian crisis before he could make it to his next appointment so I rushed him back to Blue Pearl. Dr. Sages came up with the same conclusion so they were able test and confirm he had Addisons. They hospitalized and stabilized him. Not many vets are experienced with Addisons because of how uncommon it is, and Blue Pearl was able to quickly diagnose and treat my dogs condition. They are pricey so I wouldnt use them as a primary vet, but they are great for emergencies! I know there are some bad reviews about this place, but as a pet owner, you ALWAYS have the last say. Its imperative that you do your own research, ask tons of questions, and you dont always have to go with their recommendations. For example, they kept trying to push for CT scans along with bloodwork. I decided to do bloodwork, first. If the bloodwork suggested I would need further investigation, then I would proceed to do some type of imagery. Whether its this vets office or another, if they recommend an irreversible procedure, always get another opinion! I wish I had gotten a second opinion on my dogs misdiagnosis of pancreatitis prior to treating him - it wouldve saved me a ton of money, but luckily no long-term damage was done.
