We pulled into Gary’s when our car was overheating. I had no idea what to expect. It was an emergency when we got there. Everyone we worked with was professional and experienced. They communicated well throughout the whole experience. We had to replace the transmission and engine. Gary’s helped us find a solution and make sure we received quality parts at a good value. They took the time necessary to speak with me through multiple phone calls. They made sure the repairs were done correctly and that our car would run without any further issues. I’m thankful we chose to pull into their shop. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

Difficult job due to rare part that had to be shipped in from Hong Kong. Final bill was considerably less than initial estimate. That was a pleasant surprise. Place is clean and welcoming

So I accidentally dropped off my car at this mechanic instead of another one and they still managed to squeeze my car in and get it fixed within 3 days despite me not having an appointment. What an amazing honest place. I brought my VW Golf TDI to them with an issue that was an original recall on the car. Before charging me the money to fix it, they offered to help me coordinate with VW to see if they would cover it under them. It turned out I was out of warranty. Despite that bummer; Bryan, Nathan, and Paul got my car back on the road. I appreciate their knowledge and compassion. I will highly recommend them for any auto service. My car is a diesel and Paul, their diesel tech, was able to quickly diagnose her issue. They even helped me get a rental to use while my car was down and out. Thanks again guys.

So I took my car into this place because of the great reviews. Now I might say their customer service was ok. But what I didn’t like is that I took my car in knowing that my fuel pump was bad. Just so happened that my car has two fuels pumps so I didn’t know which one. They told me that they would have to do a diagnostic on it to determine which one it was. That was fine after a few days no one had gotten back to me so I decided to call. I spoke with a worker he said that they couldn’t determine which pump it was or if it was even the pump so they had to do another diagnostic. So usually when u get charged $200 for a diagnostic if you get the car fixed there it goes towards your service. Well let’s just say they charged me $400 to tell me it was my fuel pump that was in my tank and not the one in my engine. My problem is they charged me $400 for the diagnostic but none of that went towards what I actually needed fixed. Which is a total rip off cause now they know that you’re stuck with them to do the work. So what would have cost me about $800 at the dealership cost me 1390.00 here. Which is a total rip off. Thanks for the work but I will not be returning to get any work done here cause basically you’re being charged and extra $200 or maybe even $400 before the price of what it will cost to actually repair your car! Lesson learned.

Garys is great! The only people I trust with my car. They dont sugar coat anything or try to screw you around.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Initially the guys were friendly and kind but my insurance company(Progressive) quickly discovered that they were inflating prices and essentially attempting to scam me- after I confronted them about this issue they became extremely rude and disrespectful towards me. At which point I decided to just pay for the work anyway since my car was already there. Upon receiving the car back I discovered they had only half completed the repairs and caused a significant amount of further damage. Which they refused to fix- even after I had another mechanic draw up a list and pictures of everything they did wrong. Please, please, please, do not shop with these people. They inflate the prices of their parts and services- well over the average and the work that is done is mediocre at its very best. I have had an extremely terrible experience with these people that has dragged on for months and honestly left me in a hole. Please be aware, DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP. They may seem friendly but don’t be deceived by a slick talker with a smile I guarantee you they are overcharging you by 100s if not 1000s.

Garys did a great job on sealing all of the leaks on my 1977 350 small block engine. It was an engine-out effort. I have driven the car on 2 long trips of over an hour each since the repairs were completed. Not a leak! The job took a few extra parts to fix it right - water pump, oil pressure sending unit and a distributor cap and rotor. Then the windshield wiper motor jumped into the list of replacement parts. The engine was done (removed, sealed, and reinstalled) in 2 days. It was a way over the top effort. And very successful. Thanks to Mike, Kenny and Nathan and all the crew at Garys.

I was on my way to a meeting and my battery light came on. Then I noticed my power steering wasnt working correctly. I took it to Garys and Mike and Nathan diagnost the problem quickly. They ordered the parts right away and in less than an hour my serpentine belt was replaced and I was on my way. Thanks to the speedy action of Mike & Nathan.

I was traveling through Missouri between Christmas and New Year when my car started making a weird noise. I called multiple shops and after talking with Mike decided that Garrys was the best place to take my 2007 Saab (frequently a challenge to find a good shop). I had my car towed in on Monday afternoon. Debbie and Sarah in the office were so friendly and helpful. They were kind enough to let me dog hang out with me in the waiting area.While I was waiting, Sarah helped me find a pet friendly hotel for the night.They made sure that the technician (I believe it was Kenny) diagnosed my car quickly. They determined the problem, even brought the broken part up for me to see, asked how I wanted them to proceed, and ordered the parts.At 8am the next morning, I received a text message that the technician was working on my car. By 12:30, they had me back on the road to finish the last 500 miles of my trip!Everyone was wonderful, I felt the treated me with respect, kindness, and were honest. It was not a cheap repair but I feel like it was a fair price for the work. I would highly recommend Garys to anyone in the area.

Well Im not sure how to rate this one. I was visiting my mom over presidents day weekend close to 4 hours away, I wound up getting a flat tire while I was there on Sunday and was needing to go back home on Monday. I wanted to spend more time with her but spent more time at the shop. I know how long it takes to mount and balance a tire, Im a mail carrier and get tires fixed or replaced. My mother and I had waited for 1 hour and a half to replace two tires in the back and to put the spare back in the compartment. When I paid for it and started to get in the vehicle I noticed that the mechanic put new tires on but put the one on the spare instead of the correct wheel. They apologized and he said it will only take 10 minutes to fix. We waited again for an additional 50 minutes more to put the correct tire on the correct wheel. But one good thing they didnt charge me for their mistake and the spare tire that was originally on wasnt safe and they put the other old tire on the spare so it would be much safer to drive..,....... sorry after reviewing your comment Garys auto service maybe you need to hire more people to work. Unexpected especially when the second tire that had to be remounted YOU said would only take 10 minutes and we waited almost an hour longer.

They go above and beyond to please, not something Ive experienced with any other auto service. They do great work and my car is always in good order after their service.I stopped by after getting new plates. One bolt was rusted and I couldnt get it off. They replaced it and put my new plates on. No charge. Gotta love them.

There are a few things in life you should always ensure you have a really good and trusted one of. Lawyer, Accountant and Mechanic. I dont review often, but when I do Im either very please or displeased. In this case I cant rave enough about Garys. I moved recently and found myself too far away from my Mechanic of 15 years and my search had begun. That search didnt take long as the ratings on Garys are well earned. Theyre even better than my old mechanic. Honest, skilled and affordable. Saved me a ton of money when I had been given an outrageous quote from the dealer and a local chain for a check engine light. I almost replaced my Catalytic converter, but thought Id get one more opinion. In this case actual diagnostic work was done and a small exhaust leak was repaired (same day). All is well and a life long customer has been earned.

Needed to get an inspection before school started. Every other place I tried was weeks out. Gary’s was busy but still found time to get my car in IMMEDIATELY and out within the hour. Recommend this place to everyone.

Extremely professionally. The service advisor listened attentively to all the concerns/issues and asked me to explain something he did not completely understand; this is valuable to me and shows that they care about their customers. After the repair, they gave me recommendations to prevent one particular issue from happening again. My intake had a leak so I had them replace that but I still hear a slight leak afterwards. I would give 4.5 stars but thats not applicable here.P.s. I wish they were open on Saturdays.

I actually dialed the wrong number and Mark popped up on the line. He was different from any other repair person I had spoken to. Mark made me feel like family. He has so much personality! Wow the reviews were conservative in praises. They were knowledgeable, helpful and high quality experience. From the diagnosis delivery to my cell phone and conversation about options for repairs. Garys team is awesome. I have lived in florissant for 22 years. I stumbled on this auto shop looking for a shop that worked on older foreign vehicles that would not over charge like dealerships. They are professional, courteous and take the time to walk through my concerns. You get a full documented evaluation of your vehicle with photos. Its like a physical for your vehicle. Lets customer know everything thats good or in need of repair. I was ready to junk my BMW 540i but so glad I met this team. 👍👍, 🖐, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Nate was awesome. Originally was supposed to go in for work a week ago. Sometime popped up and was able to push me back, while keeping me on work schedule.Dropped off my car, they kept COViD-19 guidelines by doing everything outside.Nate also kept me in the loop with updates about my car. Went in for break work, which the inspection said was needed. I asked for an oil change and air filter change as well, but I was not pressured into adding extra work.

I was in search of an auto mechanic for my 2014 Toyota Corolla and found/chose Gary’s because of the consumer high ratings! Fast forward 3 visits later. All times I’ve been very pleased with their service and expertise in regards to my vehicle. The costs are reasonable and fair. Needless to say, they’ve lived up to their rating and I’ll be returning soon....

I want to share how please I was with the service that I got from Gary’s Automotive. The employees were kind from the time we enter the door. First, I know a little about automotive repair as I study auto repair in high school and in college. So when my Mother in-law Pam and wife Lillie told me they did great work and was kind, I had to see for my self. They were right - great work, good price and as I drove away and return 20 minutes later, Ken came right and ask is everything ok. I did not even get out the car. How do I feel about there service - “I TRUST THEM”. This is were I will continue to bring my cars.

Until recently I held Garys to be a top notch auto shop. But recently they diagnosed my vehicle with an issue gave me a quote to repair it. Well I came back after getting my own parts to fix the issue they refused to fix my vehicle cause I didnt use their parts. So I find this to be very unprofessional and border line shady. I dont think I will be using this shop anytime in the future

We could have taken our car back to Bommarito to have the oil changed & tire rotation........and it would have been FREE, under our warranty. But instead we chose to go to Garys Automotive for 2 reasons: 1. During these uncharted times, I trust Garys more from the sanitizing and cleaning end. 2. At Garys they do the work that needs to be done ........... they dont pressure you like Bommarito tends to do to get a ton of extra work done. If fact, it was just the opposite - we were going to purchase a New Tire from Garys, when Mike suggested they try to patch ours instead!! So for those reasons, we chose to spend our money and go with Garys Auto and were not disappointed!! Mike took care of us quickly and efficiently. Could not be happier!!

Not really sure what to think. GARYS has had my vehicle since prior to Thanksgiving 2018. It has been parked in the very same spot every day since. To date I still have NO idea of whats going on. This is a lot time for a diagnosis/ inspection.They came highly recommended for great work and customer service. So far the jury is still out.Im hoping for a good outcome. They must knowthere is just too much competition out here to be handle potential repeat customers in that manner.Wish me luck.Jan 2019UPDATE.......It is now April 2019, my vehicle has been towed back in to Garys Auto Service twice since Januaryboth times for things they claimed had been thoroughly inspected and or repaired .Each time the the staff was very nice. Each time I was quoted an inflated repair charge....., and neither time was a satisfactory repair completed leaving me with fuel leaks and faulty brake system.Three times is the charm. In one from or another I have been a customer since I was 16 a d had my 1st car . Gary was the mechanic at Macs Sinclair then, got his own shop and that where I went for sevice. Now Mike own Garys Auto Service and the service and quality of service is still there. 1968 to the present. Thats 51 year and I am very satisfied.

A few years ago leaving home to meet someone on our way to the lake and I had a flat tire. Drove into Garys, they showed me how all 4 tires were bad, replaced all 4 for me and had me on my way in a couple of hours. I have been going there ever since. They are trustworthy, caring and reasonably priced. Also will take you home and pick you up if you need to leave your car!
