This is the first fair and honest repair shop I have EVER used. I have been with them for years now but I am not a big reviewer. John the chief mechanic is thorough and even goes the extra mile to make sure you are satisfied. They dont take advantage of their customers. Dont hesitate if you need a auto repair shop you can trust...use this one!

I just moved to Arlington and auto stop was HIGHLY recommended, and I see why! As a young woman, I do get nervous because I’ve been overcharged by shops when I come in on my own. I am so, so happy to say that auto stop did not do this, and I felt very comfortable here.Secondly, they saved me a TON of money. That’s a huge sign of good business. In this world, many people will take whatever they can and say screw anyone else...but the electrician John called me and talked about my options, even encouraging me to go with the more affordable option because it worked for me! Of course, I did. So far, so good, but if I have to return, I won’t be upset.They were also very accommodating. I’ve never had my car towed so naturally I was nervous about my baby! I asked them to call me when it was in, and they did. They communicated so well, were very friendly, and I felt respected. I haven’t had this good of treatment since I had our family friend as a mechanic.Thank you, auto stop! Sean at the front desk is friendly as well. I appreciate you all, and while hopefully I’ll never have to come back, I know that if I need to, I will be taken care of.

I am originally from out of State and moved to the DMV for work. I had not found any businesses to work on my vehicle and to my luck my vehicle broke down on the side of the highway. I was unsure what to do. I first found another business to look at my vehicle who wanted to charge me between $6,000-$10,000 to fix it. I looked around and found Auto Stop and I am sure glad that I did. They towed my vehicle for me from the old business to theirs. They kept me updated almost every day on what was wrong, where they were in the process of fixing it, and anything else they deemed important. They even had a loaner car that I was able to use while they were fixing my vehicle and that was completely free for me to use as I needed until I got my vehicle back. Everyone was very professional and easy to talk to and they went above and beyond to help me with my vehicle and get it back on the road within a week. I have since been back to have my oil changed before I made a trip out of state and they even took the time to check everything over to make sure not only the previous work they did was still holding up, but nothing else looked like it would be a problem for my journey out of state. Again, they checked all this for me without any additional cost to me. If you are looking for a business to work on your vehicle no matter the size of the job I would 100% recommend this place and I intend to give them my business for anything I or my family needs

I’ve been a repeat customer for close to 8 years now. I felt a review was needed. They are always very honest and they do good work. With the Pandemic they will even pick up and drop off your vehicle at your residence if you’re close by (7 miles or so) just call ahead a day or two. Before the Pandemic they’d shuttle you to work and pick you up if you drop your car off there. This is rare but great service in my opinion.If you look at the bill details they’ll always clarify any questions and even take you in the garage and point out specific things they found on your vehicle if it happens to be lifted. Good transparency. They don’t try to swindle or rip you off, it’s a good reliable shop at least for the past 8 years I’ve taken my car. Avoid dealerships come here.

I cannot begin to tell everyone how great this place is! They found several mistakes the dealership shop had made and proceeded to personally show me the work they were doing to fix it. The hospitality and friendliness of every staff member was unmatched. They made me feel like a person and not just money in the bank to them. They had me take it on a test drive after the work was completed to make sure the work was down and up to my standard. You can tell they strive for excellence and do everything in their power to make the customer happy. I came from a Jeep dealership who seemed to do everything in their power to make me UNHAPPY. What a turn around this place has done! Even gave me a customer goodie bag of snacks as I was leaving! And coming off a hospital shift, it was very much needed! Auto Stop has been our mechanic for nearly 10 years. I keep coming back because of their professionalism, high quality work, and honesty. Many times they have given us good advice about this or that service or repair that could be delayed, saving us the cost. They have even waived labor costs for services that are very simple.I appreciate their honesty. They work to keep me as a customer.

Went back to Auto Stop after my cars warranty had expired and Im so glad to be back with them. They literally just saved me ~$4,000 while fixing 3-4 problems the dealer had missed entirely. From taking me back into the bay to walk under my car and show me what was needed and what wasnt, to towing me when I needed it and providing a loaner before I even had to ask, Auto Stop goes all-out.Its probably not the cheapest shop in the area, but its far from the most expensive, and Ive never worked with one that was more fair, thorough, and customer satisfaction-minded. Highly recommended.

AutoStop Falls Church is the best and most helpful auto mechanic I’ve ever experienced. I have gone to them multiple times for my car issues and referred many friends to them as well. They are always honest and give great prices! Steve is punctual and super helpful with explaining items too.

My car drives better. Steve was very informative and explained all the issues including how to drive the hybrid loaner I was given while my car was being fixed. He explained that it was not a transmission leak as suspected and didn’t take advantage where other mechanics typically do. Very timely and go-the-extra-mile type of service! Definitely 5- stars!

I found this place because it was very close to my job and I needed to get an oil change since its been a couple hundred over due (I know, I know.) I was very nervous because Im very nit picky about getting something done out of my comfort zone. From the moment I called the place, I felt a sense of relief. They had communicated with me in such detail that now I know most of the car terms (lol.)Most of all, they are very friendly, easy going and definitely did not push me into getting anything extra done. They pointed out with pictures because well, we all need proof, what else needed to get done. I really appreciated that since its hard to find great and honest workers. Some people just want to add things to rip you off.Lastly, the service advisor, Tristan, has been such a wonderful representative to help me along the way. Even though my issue was nothing more than a minor tire leak, the team at Auto Stop took me seriously, was professional and treated me with courtesy. I appreciated that they explained what the repair entailed, how they fixed the problem, and answered my questions. Lastly, the price charged was very competitive. I felt my business was truly appreciated. I will gladly bring my car back to this facility for other routine and non-scheduled service.Update: I brought my car back to Auto Stop in August 2021 for major repairs given my previous positive experience. I was not disappointed. The Auto stop team addressed a number of issues including fixing another tire leak, changing an axle, oil/filter change, alignment, tire rotation. It was a major job that required the car to stay at the repair shop over the weekend and when the wrong axle was delivered, that required another day. Auto Stop provided me with a loaner car free-of-charge. When the loaners A/C didnt work, they did their best to find another loaner with A/C that didnt work. Long story short, an Auto Stop mechanic just drove me and my family to our appointment that we didnt want to miss. The next day Auto Stop called me around noon to advise a loaner with A/C was available at the other location.As for the major repairs, it took a full two-and-a-half days, but the price charged was reasonable. The Honda dealership would easily have charged 25-40% more. I once again recommend Auto Stop.

My first time coming to this location and I am very happy with the service I received. I called them because my check engine light came on, they scheduled me for the same day. Steve and Matt were very welcoming, great customer service and very helpful! Steve answered all my questions in detail and explained everything I needed to know. I’m definitely going there again! Highly recommend this place!

Went to get one of the signal lights fixed, they changed the lights which didnt fix the issue but still charged me for it. Showed a bunch of other fixes that needed to be done. Charged a lot for all that. At the end, I was charged a lot of money with the primary issue why I went there still not fixed. I was charged $650+ for something that could have been easily fixed for $65 but the worst thing is that it was still not fixed.Took my car to a place a friend knew, he said the light was not properly installed. What? He fixed it for $20.

I visited Auto Stop for the first time today and I definitely plan on using them as my main mechanic in the future. They were professional, polite, friendly, and very helpful. If you are looking for a new mechanic, I highly highly highly recommend them!!!

Really great experience from the guys at this shop. Overall I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to car im also young and a female so that can often warrent people to want to take advantage. They didnt do that at all made me feel really comfortable and was able to get me in with no pre-existing appt when my car literally stopped working on the way to the gym driving it. They finished the work by COB! The manager (Steve?) oh im sorry if it isnt that and your reading this lol I cant find your card at the moment. Anyways he is amazing, really nice, not pushy or someone who is trying to get one over on you. Highly recommend 10/10.

Auto Stop – Arlington and Falls Church Review …Ive been to both the Arlington (in Jun 2020) and Falls Church (Nov 2020) facilities for issues with my Honda Odyssey, and the staff are professional, knowledgeable, and prompt. They warranty their work, and they stand by it.I originally took my car into the Arlington facility for multiple repairs (timing belt and) check engine light for the EVAP system. They replaced the timing belt, and associated parts (like water pump) with no issues. But I originally took the minivan in for the check engine light, which dealt with an emission system leak; and my original mechanic (who I trust) could not find the leak even with a smoke machine. The mechanics at the Arlington facility had a smoke machine to pinpoint multiple leaks and made repairs. Afterwards, the check engine light returned and they discovered the leak again (it was not because of workmanship but a bad charcoal filter), which they replaced. They had to replace this item a few times because they discovered the part was getting damaged during shipment. So, they worked with the supplier for improved packaging so it would not get damaged in shipment, and (I believe they attempted to) find an alternate supplier. I know they did all they can to get a good filter. All said and done they finished the repair and they did not charge me for multiple attempts (which dedicated a mechanic each time in labor). It was burdensome taking the car back, but you can’t blame them since it was not their fault. Through it all they were cordial and apologetic; and I know they were doing all they could to get an undamaged part. They even showed me the packaging and the cracked parts; crack was not easily visible. By the way, I dealt with Richard and Sean. They were great.Then the same minivan encountered major transmission issues, in fact I had to get my minivan towed to the Falls Church facility, which was closer than the Arlington facility. Steve (at Auto Stop) said I need a new transmission, which was very costly. When I declined service (which I got the impression he knew I would), they recommended another repair shop, Hi Tech Transmission, which repairs or rebuilds transmissions. Rebuilt was a less expensive option. Steve did not have to offer this recommendation (or referral), but he did. To add to his nice gesture, he waived the inspection fee so it was all pro bono. This is much appreciated.So, I would highly recommend both Auto Stop locations for any auto repair because based on my experience, I find them honest, professional, and competent along with reasonable prices. Lastly, you should get your car back the same day if you drop off your car in the morning. This was not the case with my former mechanic.

Note, you do not always have to replace the rotors when changing your brake pads (so make sure to directly ask if the rotors have been damaged before you give them the go-ahead to replace yours). Before agreeing to allow Auto Shop – Falls Church to proceed, I decided to call around for a second opinion. I asked Jiffy Lube to quote me for the same repairs and they came back with a quote of $399.99. Auto Shop – Falls Church tried to charge me 70% more than the average price for a break and rotor change.Please be cautious, diligent, and skeptical when dealing with the automotive industry – especially at Auto Shop – Falls Church

The technicians at the Auto Stop in Falls Church recently repaired our Toyota Four Runner. The problem related to work done earlier which was not done correctly. The Auto Stop technicians fixed the problem completely at no charge and provided a lone vehicle while the work was being done. We have dealt with the Auto Stop for more than 25 years and have always been happy with their work. If there is any problem, the technicians make it right. I recommend them without reservation.

Steve (front desk) is very pleasant and really knowledgeable with regards to the automotive field. My box van is tall and they could accommodate it, which is a total bonus in my book! They swapped out some tires, easy peezy. The shop also diagnosed a leak, showed me the culprit and provided a quote for repair. I would definitely recommend.

Been going to this location for a while now. They are happy to take you back and so you can see the issues they provide a quote for. They also stood by their 36 month warranty on repairs when I had an issue with an engine mount that returned.

I dont usually write reviews, but they went above and beyond today. This will sound bad at first, but stick with me to the end.I tried to get an oil change at another place and they told me that they couldnt do it because whoever changed it last sealed it and that the screw was likely stripped. He showed me the blue substance and told me I needed to go back to the place that changed my oil last.The oil change before that was at Auto Stop so I went - like 15 mins before they closed - and told them what happened. The gentleman in the shop explained to me that they dont use that substance at their shop but that hed put it on the lift to see what was going on.He brought me into the shop, took the screw out in front of me to show me it wasnt stripped, then showed me the oil pan to show me that that wasnt stripped either. He then proceeded to do the oil change while I was standing there, explaining each step as he did it. On top of that, he didnt even charge me for the oil change even though they hadnt done anything wrong!These folks are very nice and committed to doing a good job. Id highly recommend them.

This was my first time coming to this place. I had always drove by it but never actually went here cause I havent need much maintenance done on my car being that i havent had it too long. My check engine light came on and I needed to find a place that wouldnt charge me an arm and a leg just to get it checked out. My fiance called to check out how this place was and if they would charge a lot to check, we spoke a real friendly guy named Gene and he said it would need a smoke test. So we came in and he did exactly what he said it needed and he told us the problem and gave us a good estimate on what it would cost for them to fix the problem. Being that I needed that done I also needed tires too but I couldnt afford both at the same time and tires I needed more. Gene understood my situation and he looked up tires for me and gave me the best price out of all the places that I looked at for all 4. So I decided to get this done today cause the weather is gonna start getting bad soon and I wouldnt even be able to drive with these worn out tires. The work was done fast and efficient and I am very pleased with the service. Gene is a great manager there and takes care of his customers. He treats everyone as a number one priority and like family thats what I like about this place. I will definitely be back for further maintenance problems with my car. 5 stars all day for this location. I recommend this place to anybody.

I read the reviews of this place before going, and they did not disappoint! From the beginning, Steve, was very thorough of the process of diagnosing my car and steps thereafter. I was given a rental at no charge to me while my car was being looked at, and was called the next day with the problem and the solution. After giving them the ok to order the parts and fix my car, it was done in an hour and I was able to come pick it up right before they closed. Steve was also more than fair on the price and was even able to lower it some without any prompting. I am more than happy with the service I received and will definitely be back!

We brought my car in after a huge $3k+ quote on unexpected work at a dealer, only for the owner here to tighten one screw that fixed everything and send us on our way free of charge. Best experience I’ve had with an auto shop and we will absolutely be return customers.

Finding a mechanic is never easy. You never know who you can trust. Well look no further. These guys arent the cheapest. Theyre also not the most expensive. They are however honest, considerate, and extremely helpful.I had taken my 98 accord to them a couple times and then a few months back my brake lines rusted out and I had it towed there. David called me and told me the cost of repairs. I couldve just asked him to fix it. Instead, he told me straight up it was probably time to move on. How many mechanics would turn down an easy $1000+? Exactly.Since then, my wife and I have brought two vehicles to him that we were interested in purchasing. Auto Stop test-drove both and checked them out to see if there were any issues we were unaware of... FREE of charge.If you need a local mechanic, you cant go wrong here. Going to someone cheaper may save you a couple dollars up front, but these guys will save you much more $ in the long run.

Service was amazing, staff was even better. This will definitely be the first place I go to for my car repairs. I dropped the car off, they got my tires delivered and installed all on the same day for a price that I probably couldnt get anywhere else.

I went here for an oil change and they told me I needed new tires (which was true). I bought them on the spot but later found out they would have been significantly less expensive elsewhere. When I raised the issue to Tom, he promptly looked into it and then cut me a check for the difference to match prices.It would have been nice to get a competitive price the first time, but Im giving five stars because good customer service is extremely important. Tom took care of the problem quickly and professionally. I would take my car here again.

The work they do is impeccable and they are the most caring and honest. Most place only care about the money. These place is the opposite. Probably the most welcoming customer service experience Ive ever had. After running around town trying to get a tire plugged, I called the next place instead of wasting gas driving due to everyone being booked. Gene told me that No isnt in my vocabulary, and to bring it by immediately. He had it put into the garage immediately and while the work was being done, we chatted about life, professions, and cars. He has experience building his own cars so he knows his stuff. After a short while, the car was done and I was on my way. Gene was very generous and made me feel like his most valued customer. I would not hesitate to bring my vehicle here for whatever service it may need.

When I had to bring my car here in order to get it to be fixed to pass the Maryland state inspection, Auto Stop Falls Church gave me a great price on the work, along with a loaner vehicle while my car was in the shop. When my Prius was totaled a month later, Auto Shop gave me great advice and a discount on presale vehicle inspection. The folks here go above and beyond. I would highly recommend.

This is the best place to take your car!!!!! I entered Toms shop exhausted having been lied to by a dealer and a mechanic on the state of a car I was purchasing. I come here for the first time and tell my story. Tom brings me back and personally shows me exactly what is going on with the car. They gave me a loaner while making repairs and then assisted me in choosing a better car to purchase. This place is above and beyond all expectations! I will always bring my car here and recommend it to everyone I know!

This year I swapped mechanics to become an Auto Stop customer and couldnt be happier.I brought my Nissan Murano in because there was some strange rattling going on and the technicians at Auto Stop were able to identify and fix a very odd, very small problem very inexpensively.I have since been back for more routine services - oil changes, new tires, etc. and always leave feeling as if I was taken care of by someone after my long-term business, not just out to make a quick buck.I cant believe it, but I think I found an honest mechanic!

Absolutely horrible excuse for an auto shop. Gene, the manager, just admitted that they knew about the problems with my car, and instead of telling me and fixing the problem, since they have had my car for over a month, they gave it back to me not once but twice not completely fix. The first time I almost slid off the road because my car was no where near fixed. If you want to be sent home in a death trap, this is the place to go. They do not care about their job, business or reputation. I had a gut feeling when I first walked in to take my car somewhere else, should have listened.

I like that they dont try to sell me something I might not need. They assess my car, tell me what needs to be done, what may need to be done in the near future and what I should not worry about.

I have had nothing but bad experiences since giving this place a chance. It took me about 3 weeks to get a single state inspection, and here is why.I scheduled my inspection for a week out, and on the day of my appointment I received a call saying they needed to reschedule due to the state inspector there having a child. I get that, I rescheduled for a week out, and waited.On the day I came in for my 2nd appointment, I was informed that the state inspector had left two hours ago. Apparently he was scheduled to leave hours before my visit, but no one told me. One employee insisted they called me, but that was a bold lie right to my face. They had called me the first time to reschedule, but not the second. I had the call logs, i had my voicemail. They had nothing to say about that.So they said there was a shop just on the other side of the road, they said to head over there, I could get my inspection there and they would even call ahead. I was agitated, but appreciative, until we got there and they were closed. I called back to ask what the deal was and they said they had no clue. They hadnt called ahead at all, and said there was nothing to do. They said to come in on monday, at any time, and they would take care of me. I asked if I needed an appointment, but they said to just come in.On Monday I came in, and there was a two and hour wait to get the inspection.Overall, the customer service was curt, and unhelpful, bordering on negligent and apathetic. I have seen in other comments that there have been others with issues getting their scheduled appointments, and I would implore anyone who doesnt have excessive time to waste to not waste it here.

Theyre honest. After the dealership wanted to charge me $2200 to fix my car, Tom, the owner of the Auto Stop, rightfully advised me to bring my car in. Not only did Toms team correctly diagnose my problem, they fixed my car in less than a day, charged me a tiny fraction of what the dealer wanted, and provided me with a loaner car. They showed me the faulty part and explained why they replaced it. Ive found a new mechanic!

Were not Jiffy Lube is what I was told as they said I would have to wait 1.5 hrs. for my oil change after arriving for my 8 am appointment. They only have 1 mechanic onsite. William, the customer service guy should get a new job. He was extremely rude and caustic during our interaction. However, the mechanic was very friendly and helpful. UPDATE--I was immediately contacted by the owner and he apologized for the rude employee. And, he said he would resolve the problem.

Place is great! Very friendly to military, first responders, and teachers!! I received a transmission flush and they were over $100 cheaper than Ted Britt Ford, KC automotive (Burke), and Tysons Auto Specialist.The self proclaimed Fat guy in the Front Gene, is incredibly honnest. He told me everything I needed to know- but refused to let me add on services BEFORE I did my own personal research to prove that he was right, and that he has the best prices in town (he was right on everything) he has had this shop open for over 20 years and his family has owned a car lot in Winchester for over 90 years- one of the oldest in the state! Gene was also a general manager at a Cadillac dealership where he started as a tech and built his way up from the bottom.My mechanic (Former Ford Mechanic) pulled me in the back to show me the shotty work my previous mechanic did, and detailed to me how he was going to fix it properly, told me what to look out for when the job was finished and let me know what to expect with my Ford in the future.You cannot beat their honnestly OR prices.

I had to take my car into the autostop for an engine warning light. There was some sensor that had to be replaced. The service was quick and friendly. I was given a ride home because the work would take a while.

Great guys. Fairly priced and they provide that personal touch so many businesses miss today.

I highly recommend Tom at Auto Stop. Recently moved to area and had an exhaust leak. Quote from Midas was $490. Called Tom who said he could do it for $260. On the day of the repair, he called me about an hour or so after Id dropped my car off to explain a minor issue and gave me the available options. Said it might cost an extra few bucks for one extra piece. Upon return, he didnt even charge me for the extra piece and gave me a discount for being a new customer. Any problems with my car and I know where Ill be going back to. Thanks Tom.

Im only giving them a second star because the guy was extremely friendly, but Ill never use these guys again! I called them around 3pm maybe 3:30 to ask about emissions. I was TOLD the guy that does the tests leaves at 4pm so there was no point in bringing my car in that day. Fine. I arrive the next day around 11am for emissions. I wanted to beat the lunch crowd since it was the end of the month and I knew it would be busy. I mentioned another issue and the guy said that would take a few hours. I told him I was in the area until 5pm so that wouldnt be a problem. By the end of our conversation I decided against the other work I wanted. So I left my car there for emmissions only. Now due to the conversation I had the day before, I called around 3:30pm worried about my car since the guy stops at 4pm. Now I was told they stop taking cars at 4pm so I could have brought my car the day prior when I initially wanted. Furthermore, I was told my car STILL wasnt finished since I told the guy I would be around until 5. I guess he took that to mean keep my car until 5. So 5 rolls around and I still didnt receive a call. Finally when I got fed up and called of course: my car had just pulled up and is ready. So a simple emissions test took SIX HOURS! And the guy could not have been more unapologetic or sympathetic about it! All of that woud have been ok except when I looked at my receipt. The test was finished at 3:30pm! So they held my car for an additional hour and 30 minutes for....... reasons. And because I got it back at 5 rather than 3, I could not handle any DMV business until the next day. Thanks Auto shop II!

Found myself stuck w dead battery (and cart full of groceries). Tom showed up in 10 mins, gave the battery a quick jump and had me on my way immediately. Soo grateful!!!
