This was absolutely the highlight of my trip to Alaska. I came to Fairbanks specifically to see the Northern Lights, and this tour made it happen. Ronn and Marquetta are extremely kind and want to make sure you get incredible shots. They are knowledgeable about the lights, all types of cameras/settings, and make an effort to ensure this experience feels tailored to your needs. I definitely plan to come back and book with them again!
Amazing experience with professional and customer centric team! So grateful for the ability to reschedule our tour due to an inclement weather conditions.
This was absolutely one of the best organized tour I have ever taken. Ronn & Marketa were very professional and well as extremely cordial in our interactions. If the lights are out they will make sure you are able to see it. Starting with explaining the science behind the lights, how they track the intensity and the best viewing location and the photography workshop to capture the lights, every detail was taken care and explained with precision. Big thanks to Ronn & Marketa for showing us the lights the way they did.
We went on an Aurora tour a couple weeks ago. They were very courteous, skilled and fun! On a difficult and cloudy night they found open sky and taught us many useful things in their photography workshop about how to photograph the auroras. We got several great photos! This was unforgettable!
Ronn and Marketa made our night an unforgettable experience. We were aware that the Aurora was weather dependent and we had come at a bad time to see the lights but they made our night special. It was overcast and snowy so we werent able to see the lights initially but they took us to an amazing location, we otherwise never would have discovered. We happened to get extremely lucky on the drive back into town and the skies cleared up for us to stop and see the lights. The experience was incredible and it was only because of how amazing they are and their talented photography skills . They were so nice and accommodating and worked really hard to give us a great night. I would highly recommend them! We are definitely going to be coming back.
This tour was awesome! Ronn and Marketa were very professional and took us to places we would have never found on our own. We got lucky and saw the aurora and when it wasn’t expected. They were accommodating, kind and would 10/10 recommend them! Thanks for such an unforgettable time!
We went on the Northern lights tours with The Aurora Chasers. Ronn helped us with all our queries-Response time for any queries was very fast. Their website has very useful videos. Please check them out. Very well made. They were very punctual- they came on time to pick us up. During the tours they made sure we were covered whenever we asked for help. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. The time we witnessed Aurora was simply Magical!!. Marketa takes beautiful portraits and she is very patient. They know what they are doing and I will highly recommend them.
Marketa and Ronn went out of their way to make sure we had an amazing experience!! We got extremely lucky and we were able to see the lights. They were so nice and made sure we were safe and comfortable. 10/10
This was a great experience. Ronn and Marketa were so great and Im so happy we picked them. They were funny, personable and very professional. Ronn took the time to help my wife with her camera to be sure we got the best shots. Marketa was so funny and had us laughing. She took such great photos of us under the Aurora. If you can make the time to see the Aurora this is the company to use. Be ready for inclement weather and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. You wont be disappointed by Marketa and Ronn.Well be back!
I wish I could give them 6 stars! Ronn and Marketa were amazing with us. We happened to reserve some really bad weather nights. Rather than taking our money, Ronn called me and was honest that he felt that the weather would not cooperate with seeing the Aurora and canceled our reservation. They were fully booked for the rest of the week with our clients and couldnt fit us in on any other day. They almost NEVER cancel a reservation because they are professionals that know what they are doing and will drive a hundred miles or more if needed; just in our case, the weather was bad everywhere in the area.I had mentioned that it was my wifes dream to experience the Aurora and she has stage 4 gastric cancer. He had felt so bad and they were so generous as to let us meet them as their secret place on another night. We extended our stay 2 more nights to hopefully see it. They helped set up my camera (Sony Alpha 6000 with Rokinon 12mm F2.0 Lens) and chatted with us for a few minutes to make sure we knew what we were doing and everything.Even though they canceled our reservation they still took a few portraits of us and helped us fulfill my wifes dream. She cried as she experienced the aurora saying it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen, and now Im tearing up just writing this review for the kindness and generosity of Ronn and Marketa. All the locals, from the ER nurse at the hospital to restaurant owners and other tour operators, recommend Aurora Chasers. When even the locals recommend them you know they are good. They are top of the line for experiencing the aurora. Even though we never went in it they have a very nice passenger van to accommodate their guests. Also, dont leave early, stay out late. We were just about to leave when the aurora popped out of nowhere and was the most brilliant dance weve ever seen.Attached are the photos they took of us.
Ronn and Marketa are legends! What they offer is incredible. From the very first contact I had with Ronn trying to plan the best time to come to the service we continued to receive after our tour, every single detail was perfection. First I have to say that these two are serious experts. We loved and really appreciated the instructional videos they had prepared. They had something for every single question that came up. I was super impressed with their knowledge of some many camera models. We had 6 models of cameras on our trip and they were proficient with them all. We were taken to magical locations perfect for photographing the Aurora with a beautiful foreground. While there they took pictures of us with the lights, tic toc reals to share on social media and even provided hot chocolate and coffee. I am telling you EVERY DETAIL! Plus we just really enjoyed their company. I think Marketa and I would be great friends if I lived in Fairbanks! They made our trip and I have already given their name out to a whole bunch of friends who are drooling over the pictures I shared on Facebook. I know we are weird but we didnt even come with a camera on a photography tour, lol. We both wanted to just watch and enjoy! So all I have is a cell phone pic. But I will be buying images Ronn and Marketa took on our nights! I wouldnt trust my dream to see the lights with anyone else. Absolutely magical!
This BEST aurora viewing and photography tour in Fairbanks and a complete value for money. The tour is exceptional and completely stands out. The guides Ronn and Marketa are highly knowledgeable, informative, energetic, and kind duo (husband and wife) Ronn and Marketa Murray. If you are going to Alaska mainly to catch the Aurora dancing, book this tour without a second thought.Trust me, you will not regret a penny.Professional - Quick response to emails, punctual, deliver portrait and video within 24 hours of tour.Do not photoshop the portrait and keep it authentic.Gives equal attention to each client whether you are traveling solo or in a group.Provide high end camera on rental which captures incredible portraits.Safety-Covid test report or a vaccination required.Wearing mask is compulsory, tour van and cameras are sanitized after every use.Hand sanitizer available in the van.Fire extinguisher and an advanced first aid kit available in the van. They use is a premium Mercedes Benz van which comes with good controls, shockers and safety equipment. We were told which emergency number to call in case any mishap happens. The van also has an exceptionally good heating system. Very important when you are going to locations with temperature as low as -30 F. They keep the heater ON when when the van is parked. When we were out in the dark and remote landscape, guides always stayed around to sure that no one went out of sight.Photography workshop-LED display screen inside van to display audio and video content. If you have never used a camera, still in this tour you will come back with amazing aurora portraits clicked by yourself. Ronn teaches from basics and has intensive camera knowledge.Informative and Knowledgeable-Guides have a thorough knowledge on KP index,on why and how of auroras or on how to predict a good show of lights, the science behind. They have all the required sources to get information on where the clouds are clear and where the lights will shine brighter. Their expertise and experience takes this aurora viewing to another level.Location-On my day of booking KP index dropped to 2, cloud cover was 70% and snow fell morning and night to make things worse. But Ronn drove and drove for hours till he could capture a clear sky with 0% cloud cover. When I stepped out of the van,I saw Lady Aurora in all its glory.Marketa clicked photos of all of us under the northern lights. The guides are so passionate and committed to what they do that they drove us from this location to another to get an even better view of the northern lights until we saw a proper dancing bright aurora display. The personal touch-As this tour had a very small guide to client ratio, each one of us got personal attention. hey helped each of us to set our cameras, were patient to answer our absurd questions, clicked multiple photos of us at multiple locations.Remaining 2 days of my trip I had to attend other 2 aurora viewing tours as this tour was sold out. These tours lacked most of the points I have mentioned above. Some examples are -Heater of their van was not effective. Did not drive long enough to get a clear sky. They parked the van at Cleary Summit where other cars were parked with headlights ON and thus interrupting in photography.Guide was not too interested to click our portraits even when the aurora started dancing. He just clicked one portrait when the aurora was stable and refused for more portraits when the aurora started dancing. I came back with just 1 picture clicked. This day the KP was 5 with clear sky and still I was not happy with the portrait the guide clicked for me.I am attaching a few pictures here. You can yourself see if they can show me such a display on a cloudy night with KP 2, what they can show on a clear night with KP 5!The only tip I can give you from my experience is, if money is a concern, save it on accommodation, commute, or food etc. Do NOT miss this tour as it delivers more than what you pay for. And if you still want to go for other tours, just remember one thing – you will only get what you pay for!!
Went out with Ronn and Marketa this weekend and, if you’re trying to shoot the aurora in Fairbanks, these are the guys to go with. They’re just the nicest people but it’s their knowledge of the aurora, the tools they use to improve the likelihood that you’ll see the lights and their expertise in what it will take to get the right shots with your specific lens and camera that set them apart from the pack. They walk you through exactly how to set your camera up to capture the best photos - including some advice that honestly isn’t all that intuitive and some settings that I have never dig into my cameras menus to set before...I felt like I came away understanding my camera better, and how often can you say that? They tracking multiple different data sources to figure out the beat location to shoot from...they don’t just drive to the same place every night - they try to understand where the best experience can be captured and take you there.Cannot recommend these guys highly enough. I didn’t get the photos I wanted this weekend as the elements just didn’t cooperate but I learned a huge amount and won’t hesitate to use them again when I come back for another shot at capturing the Aurora.
I scheduled a tour in April with Ronn and Marketa for Sept. 27, 2019. I had no way of knowing I had chosen the best night of the season! Ronn and Marketa were absolutely amazing with their knowledge, comfortable van, large viewing screen, ability to get each of our cameras set up in the van by seeing it on the screen and following his instructions, teaching us far more about the Aurora Borealis than I could possibly read online, and all the while keeping great attitudes and fun personalities! There’s no sitting and waiting for the lights to dance. They’ll find them and take you to the spot! We drove 1.5 hrs away from Fairbanks to find the most magnificent lights! My friend and I were in Alaska for 8 nights and this was by far our favorite experience. Do not hesitate to book with The Aurora Chasers! I can’t recommend them enough! Plus, you’ll receive a souvenir mug of the best hot chocolate around and they’ll email a personal picture of you in front of the Aurora (if visible that night!) the next day. Don’t wait! Book now! They only do this 4 months out of the year!
Was an incredible expierence. They were upfront about no guarantees to seeing the lights. However they truly care and they their very best. We were able to see the lights because of their persistence. It was about 3 in the morning and they took beautiful pictures with in it.. Gave us hot chocolate and their van was extremely. comfortable and warm. They are so k knowledgable and taught us alot. Yes a little pricey but worth every cent. ! Thank you.
I cant say enough about how amazing this tour will be for you! They will inspire you with their knowledge and passion. They will touch your heart with their generosity and kindness . They will bring you on an Aurora adventure that you will cherish. I cant fully express in words the gratitude I feel for having spent a night with them and the Aurora. They are so genuine . Even after they brought us to one location, guided with helping us all get fantastic images, and then documenting OUR experience with aurora portraits, they brought us to another location . Yes, another opportunity! Simply outstanding tour and outstanding photographers ! They are truly specialists! Oh, what a night to remember ! Thank you !
Very disappointedYes they were very professional however to pay big money and not see the northern lights very disappointingI totally understand its all weather permitting however to pay Big dollars $500 aud to drive around all night very disappointing didnt even get to take one photo. Dont bank on them coming out. Better to do a tour like chena hot springs and aurora and if the aurora doesnt come out at least you get something else for your money.Feel if they dont come out with the chasers should be given at least half your money back.
We were on a 4 night visit to Fairbanks last week and after not having encountered any auroras the first three nights, we decided to book the relatively pricey tour with Ron and Marketa’s tour company. And Boy were we not disappointed.KNOWLEDGEABLE- These two are extremely knowledgeable (they share more than a decade’s worth of aurora chasing experience between them) but they also went above and beyond to ensure the guests were comfortable and that we all got the best photos possible. They seemed to have loved nerding out with the group talking about how, when and what causes auroras (in detail). I learn so much not only about Auroras in the region by also what other regions they occur in and why that happens.PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP- Their camera workshop was so much better than I ever expected. They gave out detailed instructions on what setting to have (and how to get there), how to set up the camera and kept dropping tiny knowledge tid-bits throughout the night to improve our experience. Any issues with the camera set up was dealt one-one with either Ron or Marketa (really appreciated this!) so no one felt left behind.AURORA VIEWING- When it came down to the auroras, these two were able to pinpoint the timing of the occurrence and the directions to expect the auroras with an impressive degree of accuracy. They used multiple apps, real-time satellite readings and live-web-cams to keep us posted on the chances (they won’t lie if the aurora chances are looking slim). They ensured we were well-prepared for the evening after having sent us a detailed email around what to bring and wear for the night and suggestions around what cameras/lenses to have. Our tri-pods were all set-up at the location they drove us out to and when the auroras came about, we were ready! They did several small things like making us hot-chocolate/coffee, keeping the van (heat) running throughout the night, checking our lenses multiple times to ensure there wasn’t frost forming and cleaning it if need be that truly made their tour company worth the price.CONCLUSION: Be assured, if the probability of encountering the northern lights (which changes from night to night) during your visit is high, these two will ensure you see them 100%. Thoroughly impressed and highly recommended for anyone wanting to witness the auroras while learning about them. Even though the auroras weren’t as vivid as we’d have hoped on the night of our tour, we still walked away completely satisfied.
I did what everyone said not to do... I scheduled a quick (48hour) trip to just chase the lights. However my research told me that it was a good bet: a new moon, clear skies, and an active Aurora forecast. I arrived on Monday at 5pm and Tuesday night was my tour with Ronn Murray Photography. Once we arrived at our site we set up our camera so our photos would be the talk of our FB posts. The milky way was out and spectacular. It was a great way to test our camera settings. My stars are so clear on my photos that they look unreal.Im not going to lie... It was COLD. Ronn and Marketa were so accommodating throughout the LONG wait for the lights. I think Ronn sensed the lights were being shy and he asked the tour (7 people) if we could stay out just for a little bit more. After 3.5 hours of waiting, what was a bit more. So thankful for the running warm van. Less than 15 minutes after Ronns request we got a preview of the most incredible display of Gods glory I could have ever hoped for.The lights filled the sky and danced for over 90 minutes. If it wasnt so cold or so exciting I would have cried awe inspired tear of joy, but I was too worried the tears would have frozen on my face. Once the lights blanketed the sky, you forgot about the cold. I danced, sang, and whistled into the sky and watched the lights dance to my joy.My bucket list is one less because of Ronns incredible Aurora instincts. He just knew!! I would call him the Aurora Whisperer if it would not make him blush. Ive dreamt about seeing the Northern Lights for over 20 years, and when I got my chance I got a memory I will NEVER forget. I will admit, this may have been my first trip, but I know it wont be my last. I caught the Aurora fever.Thank you Ronn and MarketaEvanna
