Ive so far had a timing belt job done, a blower motor replaced, a safety inspection before a big road trip, and a few other things I cant remember. They are excellent & the prices are fair. Ang is very courteous, quick & knowledgeable when I call.So glad my friend Joe Sackinger told me about them!
Gabes Truck and Auto Repair was referred to us by a friends of ours . This was our first time bringing our truck there for service and the experience was great .We received an estimate prior to them working on the truck, work was completed in a timely manner and is running great .
This was the best experience I have ever had with anything related to mechanical repairs. Great people, high integrity, and very thorough. Ill have my maintenance done by them regardless of the 350 mile distance from home. Highly recommended!
We always bring our RV to Gabes. They get you in quickly, do a great job, have reasonable prices and return your vehicle quickly! We really appreciate them!
When we need a tow. Its the ONLY company we call! Always courteous, always reasonable, always good to work with.
I know little about vehicles and dont really care to. I just put my vehicles in Gabes hands and trust them to treat me right. So far I have always found them honest and I have never been disappointed with the their work. I have been a customer for many years.
Wentbthere years ago. Great place.
Very positive experience! Was apprised of the estimated time of service.Got a heads-up call when the tow truck was headed our way. Arrived on time. Tow truck operator confirmed estimated time of service without being asked.Got a call when car was diagnosed with accurate cost estimate.Pick up was easy and friendly.Very professional shop -- on top of their game!!
We would strongly recommend Gabes Auto and RV Repair based on our recent experience. Early September we flew home from Alaska after a two month stay in our RV touring the state and friends were driving our RV back to Michigan. They were into Canada about forty miles when the front hub and bearings had issues. Our RV was first towed back to the border by a Canadian tow truck, and then by a U.S. tow truck to Fairbanks where we selected Gabes as the place to seek repairs. Numerous phone calls between Joanna at Gabes with us made us feel comfortable that we had chosen the right place with a positive attitude and professionalism. After assessment of needed parts some were difficult to find in the Lower 48 for the RV but quickly and efficiently parts were ordered, some shipped and repairs underway. We were advised when it would be completed and secured airline tickets back to Fairbanks. We notified them of our arrival and when we got there the RV was running with the heater on ready for the long journey home. Now is when it got interesting. These good people could have charged us any money amount knowing full well it unlikely that we would be back for more repairs in the future. Rather, they did the right thing and we were surprised at how much less the bill was compared to what we expected. When we met the owner and Joanna we were not surprised that they were genuinely interested in making sure we were ready for the road. All went the extra mile with service and we drove home without a hitch...the repairs were perfect. We would certainly not hesitate to recommend them!
Ive always had a good experience at Gabes Auto repair. Fast service and friendly people. Highly recommend their service.
I brought my truck to the dealer over and over again for the same issue. I was getting to the end of my extended power train warranty so I brought it to Gabes. They found and fixed the issue in a few days and it costed over $3600 on warranty and I have not had any issues since. They fact I could speak directly to the mechanic was great also.
ONE OUT OF THREE AINT BAD....? Lower Radiator hose replacement $165.91, Replace Transmission mount $386.22 Replace CV boot clamp $230.18.Took Toyota Tacoma in due to large amount of grease seeping out of CV Boot. Gabes told me that the clamp had loosened, allowing grease to seep out of the boot. They recommended I have the boot re-clamped, so I did ($5.78 clamp, $224.40 labor!). Three weeks later, I noticed the boot was split open and spewing grease everywhere. When I took it back to Gabes, they wouldnt warranty anything because they said the boot failed, not the clamp. The boot is a $20 part, so Im wondering why they didnt replace it to begin with? They claimed the boot was in fine condition (should have been, because it was only 6 months old), but it seems that either the boot wasnt in great condition or it was damaged while replacing the clamp. All of this compounded the problem, so now I have to have the entire axle replaced (elsewhere), and pay for the same labor AGAIN.Gabes gave me an analogy for what was going on: Its the same as if you (customer) had brought us (Gabes) an engine to install that failed after 5,000 miles. No. I got replaced what they suggested, and they got the parts themselves...so how does this make sense? Also had transmission mount replaced. Inspected work after I got my vehicle home and noticed the fail safe bolt was unattached (transmission mount holds transmission to frame with rubber to reduce vibration, once rubber inevitable cracks fail safe bolt keeps transmission from falling). Took truck back next morning and they did fix the problem after trying to blame it on the manufacturer. Three weeks later after they would not warranty my CV boot I notice fail safe bolt is detached once again..I take my vehicle to professional mechanics because I need reliable transportation like everyone else. I dont mind paying top dollar for good work. I expect that I am paying for piece of mind as well as parts/labor. Well, I have no piece of mind and have to replace my CV axle as a result of Gabes faulty work. Also had to attach fail safe bolt myself with lock tight. Do you feel like you should have to crawl under yer vehicle in subzero weather to inspect the work of professional mechanics...? Would you like to be treated with hostility when you explain mechanical errors to sales associates? Maybe you get good work done at Gabes, Im sure they are capable, but I received poor customer service and faulty mechanical work.. Head across the street to H&H Service center or any of the many others along Van Horn.
They get zero stars in my book Im still having issues. Took my car in for heater motor replacement, comes back to me with airbag light on, oh we will check and see if its our fault and let you know. Take the car back so they can check, nope not theyre they say but they will gladly fix it for 500. I said I get 2nd opinion came to pick up my car. It wont start, and now the check engine light is on. Are you kidding me!!!. Over course they know nothing and its not their fault, so now I have a not starting car with an airbag issue and something wrong with my engine. Do not take cars to this place.
I have rave reviews for Gabes, its owner, and staff!! We were in Fairbanks from Louisiana and our truck decided it needed a new engine!! Everyone bent over backwards to make our wait for the engine to come from the lower 48 as painless as possible!! We were allowed to park our camper within the shops compound where they even provided us with electricity, a car for our use after they were closed, and a truck to pull our camper to be dumped!! Everyone we met was professional, welcoming, and generous!
They replaced my valve cover gaskets after Expressway Auto did and I have not had a problem sence. Gabes has my truck now doing some other work. Theyre my go to shop.
Only go here if you wipe your ass with money. They quoted me $700 for an alternator. For those of you not familiar with cars, this is one of the easiest fixes next to an oil change. So I bought the $100 part and changed it myself right outside their parking lot in about 20 minutes. They also thought I was stealing my own truck when a friend and I pulled it out of there when I previously told them that thats exactly what I was going to do.
Terrible, they mounted my tires on backwards, then did not do the alignment due to work needed to the tune of 2,100. I took it back to the shop who installed the new transmission and had them check it again. Said it was fine, sent her over to alyeska tire and they aligned it for 80 dollars. Dont go to Gabes for nothing, they will rip you off.
I have taken vehicles here off and on for years and I feel like this is a super honest shop with fair rates. I recently took a truck into Ford and they wanted to do three hours of diagnostics and were assuring me the problem was either the alternator they JUST installed or a very expensive GEM module. All that and they wanted me to wait a week before even diagnostics. I had it towed to Gabes and they called within a few hours to say they had found the issue, just a battery terminal. I have had a similar experience before - long story short they dont pad their quotes, they stick to their estimates, and you can be confident that they lean toward the simple and cost effective solution. Never fun to have a vehicle issue, but this is the place to go when you do.
Thank you! After being up here for five winters, we have finally found a repair shop that I feel comfortable sending me teenage daughter to alone! I sent her with the confidence that you would not talk her into unnecessary repairs, and you didnt talk her into anything. You even topped off fluids for her at no extra charge!Yall really know what customer service is all about!
Just a all around honest, great place to bring your veh.
You get good quality work and they guarantee they work really good customer service
Very professional, warm, and knowledgeable. We have a lot of confidence in their work.
Broke my tailight out, wont admit to it. So Im out! Think I have a lifter problem but who knows? Asked if they did diagnostics lady said yes, had starter put in paid for that. Asked so what do you think is wrong with engine. Oh its bad, one quote $4500 for new engine. Next quote $4000. Had to get tow truck and get it out of there before more damage accured. Im sure I will get fixed for way less. Will update post when that happens. Not happy with Gabes at all!
Great service!
So far i have had a great experience with Gabes!I had some suspension work and larger tires put on my truck by another local mechanic, who then did an alignment. As it turns out, that prior mechanic didnt quite finish his job and caused other issues. In comes Gabes! I talked to Kent at the front desk who was very knowledgeable about my situation and quoted me a fair price for the work. It was done earlier than expected and was charged less than quoted because it took less time than we quoted so we didnt charge you for the full amount.Bringing my truck in for more repairs today and will continue to do so for the foreseeable furture
I have been going to Gabes for several years. They do great work and always on time as promised.
In August I took my 1997 F350 with 7.3 diesel to Gabes truck and auto. I had an oil leak in oil pumps that run the injectors. Leak was about a quart every 200 miles.Kent quoted $1800 to do the job, they told me they would have to order the parts since they used Ford parts. I left the truck, I was working in Tok.Three weeks later Gabes called the truck was done. I put it on a card so it could be left out so I could pick it up after they closed. The next morning I noticed oil leaking on the ground. I found the plug on the reservoir was leaking down the front of the engine, I resealed it with rtv and headed to Tok.At Shaw Creek, about 80 miles, there a hell of a lot of oil under the truck. I shut it down and found it was 2 1/2 quarts low. I added the oil and left a message at Gabes. Bought more oil in Delta. By the time I got to Tok the truck had leaked 4 1/2 quarts.I was driving 40 miles a day adding a quart a day. Finally got it into Tok Chevron. They found loose fittings and damage to secondary pump by a wrench, plus the nuts were rounded.I wish I taken it to Alex instead. Much better mechanics at Tok Chevron than at Gabes.Still no response from messages left at Gabes.I emailed the owner at Gabes, got a response from Kent Armstrong to send copies of paper of the costs. Which I have.I had to order the pump from Swamps Diesel out of Tennessee for $355.So I am down:$1800 to Gabes$1100 for rental car during the repair.$125 to Tok Chevron$355 to SwampsAnd the truck leaks a quart every 500 miles.Kent says they will send a check for $355.Still I have to pay out of my pocket to install the new pump. Plus Tok Chevrons repair.I told the friend that recommended Gabes about their settlement, he saw the oil pouring out and could not believe it was turned out of the shop. Dont think he will use them again.I hope that this information will stop someone from being fleeced by Gabes.
I have an older Kia and because of the team at Gabes it starts when I want it to and gives me very little headache. I cant say enough about the customer service and help I receive when I am there. I walk in and they know me by name and you just dont get that anymore. I recommend this shop to everyone I know. If you like thier facebook page they are always posting helpful information as well and I love that.
My experience with gabes truck and auto has always been awesome.they have always treated me with professionalism even after they got to know me.the one i have bonded with the best is probably angie, she is a sweet girl.kent also knows his stuff, well the mechanics all seem to be well versed in ther profession also.So in retrospec i have nothing but good things to say about there company. thank you very much......... Allen Edwards
These characters always have so much business, maybe because they are good? One really nice thing, they took the time to IM my 2-barrel carb. vehicle - which the previous owner had let the IM lapse and just got seasonal tags for. Well, I had repaired the problems but the oil-changer national chainstore, which starts with a J and ends with a -ube, turned me away at first glance, without even looking at the registration or the new muffler or the new 02 sensor or even popping the hood... Gabes took the vehicle, brought out a longer, more complicated form and machine, and tested it. It ended up passing with better numbers than my modern truck with EFI. The other guys didnt even give er a chance, but Gabes did.
Its a great place to take your vehicle
