Horrible place. The service is terrible, the employees are extremely rude and yelled at me. I made a reservation and when I got to the restaurant, my guests did not have enough space to sit and i was was extremely embarrassed. I paid so much money just to sit shoulder to shoulder with complete strangers during covid. Unacceptable and disappointed.
Plenty of variety in appetizers, desi main dishes, and desserts. We got a good deal on groupon. Kida are half price anyway. Kids under 5 were free.
Shahnawaz place is good for food but today i am giving one star for cause of main reception man we always visit this place and some time use groupon coupons but that man behave like we were free at there even they sell coupon and then we buy so why they behave so badly
Was driving through New Jersey on the way back home and someone mentioned this place. Needed to stop to eat. Found a Groupon as well. I believe it’s normally $22-$23 per person. With the Groupon it was $17.Was very pleasantly surprised. They have a very extensive variety of different food items. All of the big ticket items that you expect and many more. All the food was good. Everything was fresh. I did go early on around 1145. I believe they open at 11 AM. They also have an extensive variety of desserts as well. The variety of items were so extensive I didn’t even get to try everything before I was full. Would recommend this place. Staff was nice. It was probably only slightly busy when I arrived but within 30 minutes got very busy. They do have a lot of seating. They have a banquet all on the side and there was an event going on there as well. Definitely check this place out and come hungry. Maybe do some laps in the parking lot before you go in to work up an appetite.
I usually avoid writing reviews but this place it getting worst and worst. They have a ego that they are the only one who can cook tasty food. Thei prices getting higher, their food quality is getting poor. They are offering more American food such as Spaghetti, Fried chicken, french fries etc. I will give them a zero and advise people not to go there.
I think the only halal buffet in central NJ that serves fresh and good tasting good.Lots of pakistani food variety. And servers are good too. Starters and desserts specially are very good.
Food quality just getting worse every time I come, just extra salty most of the food..worth the Groupon 13$ per person and not a penny more..service is okay and could be better.. the worse off in this situation and with approx 200 people housefull they have 1 running bathroom..
This place used to be good food with reasonable prices.. now its very higher prices with very low quality food. Not a single main course was worth eating
Carnivore heaven! And halal to boot!!I was amused by some reviewers comment about meat and veg options. Veg options, hilarious! Almost none. If you consider potatoes a serious veg option then I will give you the benefit of doubt. All of the famous Pakistani breakfast meat options are available, beef paya, nihari and haleem. The paya i.e. beef feet are exceptionally well done, unctuous and sublime. Other than the traditional breakfast items there was chicken achaar gosht, goat karahi (this was their one big flop in my opinion). The goat meat cannot be from an adult goat which it was and because of it it was tough and had a strong odor. Every festive meat dish option was available. I mean it was insanely beyond my expectation. Yes, there was delish chaat option and a wide variety of sweet dishes. You pay $23 and eat and drink (coke and mango lassi) as much as you can.Jannat!
Excellent Indian-Pakistani food. The buffet is sumptuous and covers snacks, soups, chats, vegetarian and non vegetarian main courses, and sweetsThere food for children including nuggets, fries and bite size pizzasThere is also a limited selection of Indian Chinese foodThe table service for drinks is nice.It was a little cold the day we visited. The A/c was spewing cold air on a very cold day. Friend had to wear his jacketBest time to visit is 11:00 just before every one else gets thereA must visit. The host Sarah was very welcoming, polite and accommodating
This is by far the worst food I have ever in my life taste in an Indian restaurant. Chicken tiki masala is truly an insult to Indian quality food actually the tiki masala I usually buy in Costco taste 100 times better than this dish the food is cold and super greasy and horrible place to eat horrible staff and very expensive my husband and myself $60. I would mind paying more but I was truly expecting authentic Indian food please do your own research after coming to this place we
The buffet is under NEW MANAGEMENT. They have jacked up the prices for the buffet. It is run by a group of young polite boys who are doing their best to give the same Shahnawaz experience including even lying to you that the nice lady and her brother that used to run the place are still here and in the back office! The buffet spread is exactly the same in terms of number of items and layout. However the taste is not quite the same. Additionally, it is clear that they are adding something to the food (like maybe soda bi-carb or some other agent) that fills you up quickly and you can barely even eat your normal serving of food leave alone over indulge on a buffet. It is not just a personal opinion but I have had friends and other family members say the same thing - you can barely eat a proper serving at Shahnawaz anyone. They are definitely adding something to the food.Naan continues to be a disaster with cold, rubbery, dense and thick pieces of soggy Naan sitting in the buffet. The only positive is that one of the Hispanic servers that has been working at this place for over 10+ years is still there. Everyone else is gone and under a NEW MANAGEMENT.
Great place to visit as the variety of food is huge and everything is freshly made. I will highly recommend it as its worth the money.
Best halal buffet in New Jersey.I bet you cant eat everything, it has soo many varieties.Right from Soup to Pani Poori, chats to halwa poori, starters also soo many options including all kinds .. main course which is always amazing.. and deserts. 10s of items for deserts. At the end have nice tea. Cold drink is unlimited and served at the table.Ramadan and Eid are special buffet.. even more grand! What i love at this place is quality which is never compromised..in last several years its the same. And very nice welcome and treatment by every person in the restaurant! Its a must if you havent been here.
More than 30 food varieties without any taste. All of them were so bad that I cant explain in words. From pani puri to dessert or chai all were tasting the same. Food was cold and not tasty at all.
It has really nice buffet system.obviously each place specializes in certain foods.Same goes for this place.Similarly you might find one item better than the other.for me, in appetizers chat was the best.in Lunch items, nihari was outstandingand in desserts Ras Malai was awesome.
This place has the yummiest food so much better then shahi palce. the service here is good and they have so many dishes and desserts for you to try! and the waiter are super duper nice people and the bathroom is 100% clean. i totally recommend this place for anyone who wants the best buffet!
Went there on EID, i was really hyped for trying their food. When i got there i was extremely disappointed. Let’s not talk about the seating arrangements as they were terrible. Let’s put the seating arrangements aside, i was there for the food. The food was just terrible, no taste. The things that i was most amazed about that there was no variety, they didn’t have any seekh kababs or tikka boti, only 2 currys.I was sitting there just imagining the amazing buffets that we have in pakistan. People who go there and say “the food was amazing” need to get their taste buds checked cuz that’s clearly a shame to pakistani cuisine.
The place needs to upscale itself, the food tastes good. However, the cleanness, the building the furniture makes it not worth going. The price is too high for where dine out experience is like 3rd world countrys 3-star restaurant
Good Food especially their chicken biryani.
Very embarrassing I found a bug in my soup and the food was cold. Over booked and people had to sit on top of each other. COVID is not over and they are taking no procosions hate it.
Place is well maintained as its only open for weekend ... but food is over priced for Buffet .... lot of option for meat lovers .... Haleem, chicken, goat, paya soup also lots of chart options like paani puri, samosa and best was sweet option... they serve more then 7 to 8 sweet dish... Good once in few months but cannot suggest on regular weekend.
Not worth the visit, They are using restaurant depot frozen lamb which was not even cooked right, not even sure if it is Halal, chicken and fried fish was bad as well, The rice were overcooked and cold, how much deserts one can eat when main course meals are terrible. Waist of time and money.
The worst restaurant i’ve been to recently. they are overbooked. over crowded. no organization, no covid restrictions. it’s embarrassing to say the least.
It was my sons after wedding party and this was the perfect place for the party. The hall was great, beautiful decorations, clean bathrooms, lighting was nice. Food was great, desserts were tasty, and amazing chai. Our guests were very pleased. Great service and very attentive staff. Mr. Arshad was very cooperative, understanding and did his best to make the day great. The pricing was very reasonable. Overall, I recommend this hall to everyone.
Food was good with many options of desi food.loved it
I can say the best paskistani food in the east coast. I got to know about this place while ago, however, never had a chance to go and try the food.My first experience was during Ramadan. They had the best iftar with delicious drinks. From different stews to Biryani. The spice level is not so high, so you can eat as much. The samosas and goat curry were so delicious that I had to go for the second round. They also had chicken sausage which is so tasty and flavorful. They also had some options for kids as French fries and chicken. The desert was amazing, the verity of deserts just makes it more special. From Gulabjamoon to khir and mango lassi .
A good source of desi food in tristate area.
Food was good quality with lots of options. However, the lady manager Ghazala was extremely rude and had a lot of attitude, with no idea how to deal with customers. For this reason, I will not be coming back to Shahnawaz, as I drove from eastern Long Island to be treated badly and to be bullied by a lady who had her own personal life interfere with her work ethic. Good food was not worth it.
Excellent place to host a small people’s party nice buffet
4 stars for having all the items you will ever want in the desi buffet. Service was exceptional. Taste is average and price is high. I would still recommend it if you have someone visiting you from other city who has not enjoyed desi food in a long time. Get there early because it gets packed pretty fast.
Its a good place to eat but they need to manage masses a little properly during covid 19.
Just a nice place for a good meal. Plenty of parking!
Nice family gathering place...Food is just average. And alot of variety of sweets.
Really good food! Prices are climbing but that is to be expected in this economy.
Went here for iftaari food was okay not amazing. Pretty basic.
Booked a week in advance for Iftari during Ramadan. When I arrived, there was a long disorganized line to just enter. Then I had to wait in line with numerous other people to get food. There were also many individuals cutting the line which further increased the wait and contributed to the disorganization. Furthermore, although there was a large quantity of food, there was no sense of quality at all. I even found a CRICKET on my naan (picture attached). The soda was diluted with chlorine and tasted awful. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If I could I would give them negative stars.
My whole family loves this restaurant and their food
Great food and great service. Very hospitable crew.
Good place for pakistani food.
During Ramadan, no service, no food quality, small quantity. Very bitter experience. Very disappointing.
Extremely overhyped drove 4 hours to get here but seems like the standard has dropped. Buffet staff is unfriendly and the water jugs are left on the table and flat off brand coke was being served.
Best Pakistani/Indian restaurant in whole NJ, been there few times are almost tried everything, good fresh dishes, so many varieties and great service.
Food was so amazing
So on August 15, 2020 we chose this venue for my sisters engagement. The reason being the friendly staff and manager to whom my mother met with and spoke to regarding the menu for the event. However, when the food was served one of the item was missing from the menu that she had chosen. It was the baby goat. Now when you choose your favorite menu items, you then have to pay per head according to their rates. So the meat went missing and the manager says “I forgot” and “I couldn’t find the meat at any butcher shop to cook for today.” Well if you couldn’t find meat, you could have contactedmmql us with the problem or in its place he could have served something else so that our respected guests would have enjoyed. And we wouldn’t lose our respect. All I want to say is that if you’re gonna cheat you’re gonna lose your customers and yes that’s exactly what happened. All our relatives will NEVER chose this venue for any event in the future. It’s not about how much it cost you, but it’s about respect for your guests and what is expected from us. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Rather he should shut down if the manager keeps cheating in order to make more money. I’d say if you’re doing halal business don’t make it haram. One more thing I would like to add is that the waiters need to behave well with the people at the hall. They can’t just disrespect anyone upon putting food in their plate or asking a simple question. I witnessed it and that is why I’m confident about what I’m saying. And I am definitely not coming back to a filthy place like this ever again. Terrible, terrible, terrible experience. Jazak’Allah!
Shahnawaz had wonderful food and a great ambience! The owners and staff are super friendly and make your visit extremely comfy!During Covid-19 they have maintained great social distancing protocol. The buffet is being served behind glass by servers.Tables are being kept at a distant and you are seated outdoors is great for the ventilation prospective!I highly recommend them!
Good place for enjoyment of families.
Food was good service was goodIftar arrangement excellent
Really great tasting food. Authentic Pakistani taste, rarely found outside of that country
Giant buffet for $22 but food has no a quality or taste
Food quality is good fresh and tasty
Very pathetic owner only kept eye on ppl for charging but when it comes to service 0 results no good food no service and cold hard and old food
Very Nice. Specially their buffet. Now a days open air Buffet. Cool. Tasty food too
We went after pandemic and it feels like the taste is gone from this restaurant. They use to have good taste and menu in Buffett but now simply poor. Soo disappointed. Never going back.
Very tasteless and waste of 💰
Very good food. Owner is welcoming also workers. Variety of food
Loved the food specially Lamb Shank didnt have this kind of recipe in UK.We will visit it again whenever we travel to USA.
Good desi place for family
Same good taste and good service in covid-19 phase. Outside sitting was excellent.
Looked outdated, if they renovate and make it look nicer they would get more parties. Food was okay also
Very tasty food specially bryani and behari kabobs so yummy.
Good food.
👍
My cousin recently had her engagement here. The experience wasnt that great. They did not serve all of the dishes we had ordered, food was stale, and service was horrible. The biryani tasted as if it was cooked days before. When questioned, the management was extremely rude. I would never recommend booking this place for any large event/gathering.
The place had good seating arrangements outside the restaurant currently due to covid. The kebobs and naan were served hot and fresh out of oven and grill which is really a plus. The only complaint I have is that it gets super hot in there, they probably should consider getting stand fans 😐
Great family place
Family style eating at long tables. If you are well informed about Indian culture, you will enjoy it. The buffet has many authentic choices. A little expensive at $22 per person.
Good food & excellent service
Cold food and taste is ewwwwwww i dont like
Horrible food. Eating at this place was a nightmare in broad daylight. 22$ buffet for this quality of food is a rip off. Just reduce the number of items in the buffet to half and serve better food.So many options to eat but none good enough.Plates and spoons were very dirty. It looked like some of them were not even washed and were very greasy. The only things I could eat well were the mango lassi and ice cream.
Food Quality has gone down.
One of the best buffet restaurants I have ever been. Little pricey, but everything is included. For $20 you wont regret it. Great collection of deserts. Very busy, so reservation is highly recommended. Parking is limited on the premise. But you can park across the street on the school parking lot.
Out of control... Thanksgiving buffet.. This banquet hall only does weekend buffets or major holidays...no need to travel to Four provinces of Pakistan each with their regional delicacies, this New Jersey cottage house has all under one roof... awesome culinary experience!!
Great taste everytime, so far not been disappointed.
