Wonderful ambience, Tasty Food and Great arrangements !!!Special Thanks to Meenakshi and Rohith for taking good care of all the arrangements and helping us out with all the last minute needs. They made our party a grand one and were very friendly.We had our Parents 25th wedding anniversary at @Akar restaurant and in the center Hall. It had ample amount of space and the food arrangements were fantastic. There was a supervisor and 2 staff at the bar with us throughout the party. The setup of appetizers separate and main course+dessert separate was also very good and it was a good experience for the guests as they enjoyed the appetizers as snacks and later enjoyed the main courses Dishes. Everything was tasty and presented well. The highlight of the party was the POORI and SHAHI TUKDA(Dessert). I would recommend you all to choose POORI for the Breads, bcos naan - Everyone would have tasted everywhere, but Poori only in veg restaurants, that too very few would have tasted. Poori +veg/non-veg curry made the best pair - Both kids and adults will love it for sure. And Shahi tukda was a different choice than usual but it was very tasty and kids and adults both really enjoyed it !!! And we had Gobi manchurian, Masal Mushrooms, Panner tikka, Chicken 65 and Mixed chicken Kebab for the appetizers and everything was very tasty, especially mixed Kebab and Masala Mushrooms were top :) everything was planned out well and well organised. The appetizers came at the time we told and then it was take out and Main course+dessert followed it. It was so organised and Kudos to the staff of Akbar Restaurant - they did an awesome job.Once again Thanks to Meenakshi and Rohith for taking care of all the arrangements. Our parents were very happy with all the arrangements and how well the party was organised.We would highly recommend Akbar restaurant For any occasion and they would do a great job for making it even more special :)

I was surprised how good the food is now didn’t visit them after they renovated the place inside and outside the past few years!

We got married here back in 2006 and my son wanted to see how it looked so we came over to see it. While we were on our way, we ordered a samosa Chat to go. There was hardly anyone there and kitchen was going to close at 3pm. We decided to sit and ordered some apps. Our hostess was great and very nice. The tikka platter and chicken lollipop were also very good. Samosa Chat was tasty as well

Very good food and drinks. Inside decor in restaurant is very nice also. They renovated and updated their interior and it looks great. We are having our event there in a few months and looking forward to it.

I got married here last year in October. And I can assure you the way people at this place conducted the whole event was not only great, it was well-organized, it was nice, it looked great, and the staff was amazingly friendly and cooperative with our requests and wants. They gave us amazing package personalized for us and me and my guests had a blast here. Also, these guys arranged the decor for me too and it was incredibly professional and beautiful. Their food had a variety of halal options too so I had no idea serving what I wanted and it was every bit as delicious as it looked good.Overall, I have every reason for me to come back here not just to enjoy the food/restaurant, but to do any future events. Id recommend everyone to come and give these people your business or at least try this place once... They definitely deserve it!special thanks to their manager Rohit who helped me a lot with arranging everything and being on top of it like a family member would do!

Food was great 👍Portions are so extremely small for the priceit doesn’t even feed a childJust to get an idea ; The spoon is huge compared to the small dish. Place is big and has elephant statues and mirrors. I guess you are paying for the Mirriors and statues and the extremely dirty chandelier. Mango lasi is big and tastes good and the price is reasonable. The plate of food is about the size of one mango lasi 😂. Nan was 5 dollars each !!! So expensive...they don’t even charge that much in Manhatten for Non. Tips were included in the price, I dont approve of that. Service was ok but not wow !

Very hit or miss. Everything tasted fine but we were very disappointed in the Chaat which was ice cold and just plain terrible. Of youre looking for an Indian restaurant in this area, just do yourself a favor and go elsewhere

Went there yesterday with family and friends for dinner. Service was too slow, we had to wait for half an hour for drinks, and appetizers came after our drinks were over. Food was tasteless. When we asked why it’s taking too long, we were told most resources are busy to serve a party, looks like there was a party going on in their banquet hall. Entrees took forever and everyone again were very disappointed with the taste of food. Can’t believe we had to wait over 20 minutes for check and finally told to pay it at the front desk.If you don’t have enough resources to serve your restaurant guests why don’t you close your restaurant for a day and tell your customers to go elsewhere rather than making them wait for hours?And not only food and service, temperature was high and we had to request to lower it which had no effect, looks like those resources were too diverted to banquet hall. Overall bas experience.Never ever going again.

We recently had a family wedding here and were extremely disappointed in how it turned out. The service was essentially nonexistent, there were no waiters/waitresses or any workers to be found anytime something was requested. No one was going around the tables refilling waters and when you ask for water at the bar, it was served in a shot glass. The food was served buffet style and was a serve yourself style; however, the chicken ended quickly and took extremely long to be refilled. This caused a back up in the line and people waiting a long time to get their food. When we needed the lights turned down or the wedding cake table moved, there was no one to assist and the attendees had to do it themselves. Lastly, we paid extra in order to guarantee we would have access to the full indoor and outdoor venue in case of weather issues. We were promised if we pay for this, we would be receiving the full indoor venue; however, when we showed up half of the indoor venue was rented out to another event. This caused our event tables to be extremely crowded, pressed together and the dance floor was way too tight. Overall, the owner promised us many things and we paid a decent service charge; however, the day of we were completely shocked by the outcome. The owner was very unaccommodating, unhelpful and dishonest in terms of our agreement and what we received. We would not recommend this place to anyone, especially for what they charge per person, you are better off with any other venue and a reliable trusted vendor. Additionally, the wedding cake (which was not part of the venue, we paid for it from a separate vendor) was awkwardly placed in the back towards the buffet line rather than next to the bride/groom table. No one cut the cake and passed it out to the guest and the coffee was never refilled. My family and I genuinely felt scammed from the outcome of this event and wish no one will have to deal with these very dishonest owners and planners at Akbar.

I had the chicken korma which was good, but the gobi paratha and the ambience were the highlights of the meal. The service was also very good. I was a bit surprised they added a gratuity on the bill as I’ve only seen this done for large parties (I was alone). Also they didn’t mention that it was added, so I was about to leave a tip but I checked the detail because the amount seemed high.Overall, still a pleasant dining experience. I would return.

I visited to Akbar banquet hall for a birthday party. The place and service is horrible. The hall was not clean and overall arrangement was so dull. The food was just ok. The staff was polite and friendly, but management doesnt seem taking care of the banquet.

I hosted my daughters grad party here and was very satisfied overall with their services. We had discussed our choices with Manager Rohit way ahead but reached out multiple times during detailed planning - he was always available to us. His team did a great job in food preparation, venue layout, presentation, etc. He has projector screen at venue. We had the place for couple of hours the night before for decoration and our DJ came ahead to hv his equipment set up as well. Our guests had a great time at our party and especially mentioned the good non veg cooking choices. Great job, team Akbar

Rohit at Akbar was very helpful in accommodating us even though the rain spoiled our outdoor engagement party plans. He was proactive and flexible in offering alternatives and was able to accommodate my party of 75 indoors at the last minute. The food and service was provided timely and was very organized. The staff was also very friendly and helpful during our event.

Had a wedding at Akbar this week and the food was disgusting! All my guest complained. The food was spoiled. They give old food. I told the chief to eat the food and try it. He said its good but none of my guest could eat it. Never have a desi wedding here. U will regret it.

I attended in a wedding there. It was a desi cultural wedding. The place is nice. Had a few Big rooms, for few different events. There was a birthday event right beside our wedding event. Very sound proof, we didnt even feel like something was going on beside us. Stuffs are friendly. & serve their best with the best service. Have a nice backyard with green grass. Good place for taking photos.

I attended a friend’s party here and was terribly disappointed with just about everything from cleanliness to highly sub-standard and tasteless stale food. The worst Indian food I have had in Edison ever! Catering from this place would cost you your reputation.

By far the worst place I’ve ever been to. I called to book my event and all the staff were nice at first, promised to work with me if I didn’t call another event hall. So I agreed and gave my deposit. Then I had to cancel my event due to the pandemic and after calling them for months and finally getting ahold of them, they refused to let me talk and kept talking and yelling over me. They have also refused to give my deposit back or work with me as far as booking another event there. They now told me that they have almost doubled the price per person for my contract and that I would only be able to use $500 out of the $1000 deposit I gave them only if I book another event with them. This was a waste of my money, my time and my efforts. If you’re looking to work with decent human beings that have manners and respect, this place is not it.

Disgusting food at high rates!The don’t use Basmati rice for Biryani and it’s thick and hard rice.We tried different gravy’s : Chicken, goat, tasted like it was cooked by the dishwasher.The waiters: waiting to get done with their jobs. No interest in taking order.

We had a wedding reception here. Half of our event was ruined by the very loud event going on in the nearby hall. It’s Akbar Palace fault that either they should install sound absorbing walls, or do not book simultaneous events, or do not let people being very loud sound systems.Half of our event was ruined yet they charged us the 18% extra tip!My impression was that the tip is optional and depends on our satisfaction from the hall/event. Other halls told us it is optional.One more thing: we had 70 guests but the hall charged us for 100, saying they need to make a reasonable profit. Yet! They did not give us the left-over food for the extra 30 guests who we paid for but were not there.Ok, that may not be typical, but charging the extra 18% tip on top of that was not acceptable.The lady (owner/manager) was so mean that mentioned one of our guests took some Gajar Halwa home! So low to make such a comment, when we spent thousands of dollars for this event.Overall, not the best experience. Find another venue if you can.

The party hall is not clean almost every chair dirty stain some of chair were broken. Food was ok .They need to renovate bar and bathroom .Akbar is good for100people not 200.

My daughter’s Mehndi was on June 10, 2021. The best experience ever great service and food. A big shout to the event Manager Rohit. I was very very satisfied with his management expertise. I would highly recommend Akber for all your events. Definitely a 5 star experience.

The food was delicious, too hot inside, no airconditioner. Party next door was extremely loud. Bathroom was not kept well!

Beautiful decor, friendly helpful staff. Owner “Mina” stopped by our table to check on things and make a few recommendations. We live in Princeton and have tried several Indian restaurants much closer. We will be taking the ride to Edison from now on. We’ve tried 12 or more dishes now and all exceed expectations. Highly recommend for dining.

WOW!! Truly, this was by far the best experience we have ever had with a banquet service. We celebrated our sons first birthday on 01/23. What an amazing process leading through the entire event. Staff was extremely patient and helpful. Rohit was very professional. He was thorough with everything. The owner Mrs. Malhotra was very persistent and also made her presence into the party to ensure everything was up to standard. Food was delicious and everyone loved everything and enjoyed themselves to the fullest. The décor is grand, beautiful and clean. Very easy to get to right off 287. We are glad to have choosing Akbar as our place to celebrate our Sons Bday and look forward to future events with them. THANK YOU to the entire Akbar Staff.

Oversalted curry, unsalted dry veggie, over spicy Manchurian with dollops of tomato ketchup(may be to mask the spice), super thick naan..& mughlai corn is nothing but boiled unsweet corn with salt & spices.. never been more disappointed ...They used to be good!

Food was alright. space was good for small parties, but kind of dirty

We were looking for a hall for our engagement party and we decided to contact them. Rohit and Ms malhotra were the ones helping us. They ran after us and telling us to book with them and they will give us a good deal. So we decided to give them the 1k deposit for the hall. Then covid happened and our party was canceled so we contacted them and asked for our deposit back and they weren’t working with us. They kept playing games and weren’t answering phones and it went on for a while. I suggest everyone to book their parties somewhere else because I will never book with them. They are still holding our deposit and said they won’t work with you for your next event since they already took the deposit.

This restaurant was abysmal. They took our money and gave us a unsatisfactory expierence. It is overly priced and the quality is not there. Frozen food has the same quality and the trash they served us. Please choose any other restaurant then this place. I was very disappointed by the place. Akbar would disappointed too.

Zero customer service. They don’t refill water until you ask them. Food quality is below average for the price point. South Indian people will not like the Briyani from this restaurant. For the money spend, there are many other great Indian cuisines with better customer service. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Had the worst experience trying to book my event with them. Beware, they try to steal your money by keeping your deposit and ignoring your phone calls when you try to confirm a date for an event that YOU already paid for. I worked with Mrs. Malhotra and Rohit and for weeks they were giving us a hard time. Would NOT recommend at all. Take your business somewhere else.

Bought a ton of food yesterday. Have had their food many times before. Was quite good. But yesterday was a different story. This is a very fancy banquet hall. The staff were very friendly and professional. It was my first time coming here, giving my family and I freat experience by offering us a free dish. It is a great buffet for lunch time and super affordable!

Food was pretty good, the place has decent servers, and overall not too bad. Parking lot needs paving and some work could be done on the outside.

I would give zero star if Google have option for it... worst food ever had in New Jersey from only this place. First and worst experience, I would say better you can go to Patel Brothers and buy frozen food and microwave it will give you better taste rather having food at Akbar Restaurant. I attended the wedding ceremony. This is one of the worst service & food experience I had. You hardly find restaurant staff, host were trying to handle as much as they can but no service provided by the restaurant. After serving food on the table, no one came to check does guest need more food. It was outdoor event due to covid, uneven lighting arrangement. We have to turn mobile flash light to see the food.Overall pathetic service. I would avoid this place at any cost.

Ordered one entree, two appetizers and one zafrani pulao through Grubhub. The pulao was a disaster. It was just a plain rice with a little bit of color.

Over 150 guests were treated very poorly at a wedding this past September 19. It was freezing outside there were no heaters provided outdoors the food came out very late and it was very minimal there was hardly anything for people to eat and in between each item about 45 minutes past there was no constant round of bread or any attendance to any of the patrons in any serious manner I felt very bad for the bride and groom. The place is gorgeous and it is very clean. But the service was terrible and the food was almost nonexistent there was almost nothing to eat for the amount of money I’m sure they paid it was embarrassing I would not recommend anyone to have a wedding here unfortunately

Akbars has amazing chef. There Chicken chop are mouth watering treat. On a gloomy day like this, the pander Tikka skewer with glazed pineapples, and fresh bell peppers is just chummah!

I have been to so many halls and this was by far one of the worst Ive seen. I believe there were multiple events during the same time at the event I was attending and it seemed they were overbooked and all managed poorly. The management had 3 to 4 servers to cater to 150+ people which should have been table served. The food was served very late and once the food was served the waiters were no where to be found for refills. There were also no refills on the tea container. Some of the dishes were cold and there were no arrangements for outdoor heaters for the outdoor event. It was FREEZING. You would expect the hall to provide something to accomodate their guests.If you want quality and great service, look elsewhere.

Good size space to host a big gathering

Was here for a wedding and there wasn’t enough light to even see your food. It was cold and there was no arrangement for heating in the outdoor event. There was no proper service. We had no idea when each portion of food was coming out. It was unevenly distributed and they served Sams cola instead of coke. Staff managed the event very poorly.

I had the worst experience ever. My Best friends, sisters wedding occurred on Saturday the nineteenth of Sept. The event was outdoors on a super cold day. The administration was excessively terrible. My friend spent alot of money for this occasion, however the administration of this spot didnt care for the guests whatsoever. It took forever for the food to be served on the tables. The guests were very disappointed. At one point, someone mentioned that the police was around and some of the folks that were supposed to serve food ran away for no reason and left the guests unattended. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone. There plenty of good places out there. Trust me, you dont need to squander your cash at this spot.

We had a baby shower here horrible service, food was placed very late and top of that their AC was not working and the manger kept saying it’s working. They did not apologize or gave any discount for the inconvenience. I will never have any of my events here ever.

The service was top notch and plenty of parking. The soda tasted a little funny and my partner said the same about her salmon. Aside from that everything was perfect, there wasnt ever a time where we were waiting for food or drinks.Be it lunch or dinner, Id advise to keep a good amount of time with you if you are going in here. Every dish is so good that I overeat every single time I visit this place. Great place for a team get together in my opinion.

Im sorry to leave a bad review. But customer service really upset me. My food was delivered without any rice, bread, chutney, cutlery as well one appetizer was missing. When I called the restaurant - basically they told me they cant deliver missing items that night. I had no car to go to pic them up as well I already payed around $18 for delivery and tips. I recently moved in so no kitchen yet - couldnt make my oven rice . Weirdest customer service ever - no sorry, no apologies, nothing.

I agree with everyone giving bad reviews. They did everything in the power to ruin my wedding there. I was so embarrassed about how the staff was bringing very little food out and not replenishing it. Dishes were empty and people are waiting for continuous time but we are given false hope that food is coming. Needless to say i didnt eat much. Also, the stage they set was super cheap and was falling apart and my friends had to fix it constantly. This is ponzi scheme operation in my opinion.

I had a very unprofessional experience with the Restaurant where they would not honor a groupon I had as they they were not making any profits. The person who takes orders (someone call Tina) insisted i order 2x the value of the groupon and dine in (even though the groupon explicitly allows for take outs. Extremely disappointed with the unethical stand the restaurant is taking
