While on vacation with our camper trailer in SW Colorado, one of the rear wheel bearings on my Tundra went on vacation as well. Jim and Scott diagnosed the problem and bent over backwards to get us back on the road. Jim also found and repaired two broken sway bar connectors my local shop in Denver had missed. Reasonably priced and friendly service.
Alpine Auto doctor is there way to go if you are in Durango CO. I had a vehicle that was not drivable and they even offer the best tow rates in town too! They had worked on both of my vehicles, one with minor issues and I couldnt be more happy with the work done. The vehicle that wasnt even able to start due to a bad fuel pump amongst other things, was able to do a Telluride loop through rico first using 160 and coming back through Silverton using 550. It was very fairly priced for the work I had done on my vehicles and to top it off they showed me how to fix two minor things myself, saving me time and money! I am typing this a bit over a month after these miraculous mechanics did their fine work with everything I went in for still operating smooth and sound. Absolute best in town and will recommend everyone I know. Thank you in advance for any future mechanical needs I may encounter
Ive worked with Scott a couple times now and hes been totally honest and upfront. As far as I can tell they do great work and will do what they say.
Best in town... Thanx Scott, damm good mechanics
These guys are great I was in town for one day and was experiencing a raw fuel smell coming through the air vents in our Subaru. I called Alpine Auto Doctors and they were able to get me in quickly. Upon arrival I was greated quickly and my car was in the shop in less than 5 minutes. They quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed not only the initial problem but also cleaned my air vent system and completely removed any existing smell of fuel. These guys are professionals and went above and beyond my expectations all the while treating me like family. I would highly recommend these guys for any auto work you need done.
My husband worked here for a short period. Dirtiest shop Ive seen in my life. They refused to pay my husband for 2 weeks worth of work. Bunch of crooks!
Driving home to Phoenix and the A/C compressor died on our Subaru. Alpine found and installed the new parts the next day, saving us from a broiling day in the car. They are quality people doing quality work.
I have known Mr. Young for many years. I started taking my Nissan to him for oil changes about 5 years ago. I had a broken mirror that the dealership told me would cost 350.00 just for the mirror. I taped it up and went on. Bringing the car in I ask Scott what would it cost to put another one on he quoted me 220.00 total mirror and installation. This was not the first time that he had worked with me on this car. I had a problem where the car died on the way to work.Scott was the only person I knew to call. He said do you have a ride to work, I did. He had my car towed to his shop they worked on it during the day. Even brought the car to me at work at the mall and told me to come in the next day to take care of the bill. Many times when I did not have enough money for repairs he would give me my car and say I know you will pay it.About a year ago I needed brakes for my car front and back, I wanted to pay for them up front as I am a single women and I am on a budget. The front brakes were fixed when I took the car back in for the back brakes he told me you do not need back ones at a closer look we determined you had plenty of brakes left. He could have replaced the brakes even when I did not need them. But was honest in his dealings with me.Scott is a very personable person and likes to joke. Scott has never treated me rude or disrespectful. I have seen the work ethic of this shop and the mechanics who work there. I have learned in business you will never make everyone happy. I have also learned that when you do not take care of your car it will not take care of you. I would recommend this shop to anyone. I do not mind using my real name I find if I am going to make a comment about a business good or bad I am not afraid to put my name on it... Good Job Scott and the guys at Alpine Auto Doctors. Thanks Peggy Russell
Scott the owner of alpine is a real scam artist! First he puts a wrong rear end in my truck so it no longer can operate in four wheel drive and tellsme before I pay him$2000 for the work that he ordered a new one and he will swap it out as soon as it gets in. We schedule an appt for 4 weeks later then I show up on Monday for my apt and he himself says what are you here for I cant do anything for you now because the company he purchased the wrong rear end from wont take it back and now he cant help me....and now its my problem? Do you not stand behind your work Scott? Do you not have insurance that should cover something like this? Instead you tell me I have to pay another 2k for a different rear end? Wow!! Ive sent my family and friends to his work for years and then he does this? ans thats not all my brother had his truck there and got quoted 10k for a new engine. When we try to go get the truck and take it else where he calls the cops and has my brothers truck impounded for nothing! Just because you cant keep your word? Yes your word! I hope this review will some how let people see Scott for what he really is! Dont let his slick talking fool you.
What amazing Mechanics and the owner has been so kind and helpful to myself and my husband beyond expectations. People if you ever need your vehicles worked on this establishment is the one they know it all.Thank you all l!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The Bazzills
Back in June we were in Durango on vacation and the day before we were supposed to leave to drive back home to Louisiana, one of our vehicles decided to discharge all of the power steering fluid. It was after 5:00pm and I had little hope of finding a mechanic. Luckily Alpine Auto Doctors was open and I drove the car there as we had no time to wait for a tow truck. They were very friendly and took the car immediately back to get a diagnosis. They found out what it was and we all hoped they could get the part the next morning. Sure enough they got the part and fixed the car at a very fair price. We were back on the road just after lunch (much earlier than we had anticipated) for the 2 day drive back home. They really took care of us! I highly recommend them whether you are local to Durango or on vacation and need a mechanic. Thanks to them we made it home just fine!
My husband and I had a terrible experience with Alpine Auto Doctors. My husband was quoted $1,000. They had our car for two and a half months, and only finished the work when my husband started calling frequently. The final bill was $3300. We initially discussed the possibility of Alpine Auto Doctors selling the car for us after the repair at a price of $4,500, so we were appalled to see that they had overspent the estimate by 330%.I gather there was a miscommunication between the mechanic and the office staff about what problems had been diagnosed, and whether we had authorized that work or not. The office staff did not adequately communicate with my husband that the work was going over the original estimate. Meanwhile, the mechanics thought they had customer authorization to continue work. They did not.Miscommunications happen. But unfortunately, Alpine Auto Doctors was not willing to accept responsibility for their internal lack of dialogue which resulted in not providing us with an estimate nor requesting authorization for $2,300 more work. Instead, they insisted that we pay the full amount immediately and threatened to disassemble our vehicle that day if we didnt. We were willing to pay the estimated $1000, and even offered to negotiate a middle ground. They would not accept it. We paid the full amount and got our car as soon as possible.Personally, I felt bullied by Alpine Auto Doctors. Legally, the Colorado Motor Vehicles Act prohibits shops from doing unauthorized repairs on the car and not providing an updated estimate (in writing, might I add). I do not recommend that you take your vehicle here.
My repair was under quoted and over promised. In my instance I was quoted 25 hours labor and one weeks time to replace my engine, clutch, and rebuild the heads on my Subaru. This shop has a mechanic with a good reputation for subarus which is why I went there in the first place. I have zero complaints with the work performed, just with the billing and expectations of the job. I explained I had extra parts that were not factory needing installed and the 25 hours labor quote and one weeks time frame did not change. When an issue arose and they contacted me to address i took care of it immediately and went as far as overnighting parts to keep the job going. I got my car back over 2 months later, not finished, and billed extra time. Upon my initial inspection before the full rebuild I was billed for diagnostic of an issue that didnt get addressed. (There were bigger issues to address and repair before finishing the diagnosis) I was told they would apply a credit when my car came back for the engine replacement. When I asked about the extra labor charge and the credit I was told the labor hours billed should be higher. When I got the car (the did deliver it to me about a mile away) It had damage on the bumper from trailer ramps. Liability was denied. It also had what appeared to be dirt/rust inside of a hose that directed to the inlet which resulted in debris inside the new turbo.I never got a written quote after being told multiple times I would get one.Overall it was not a positive experience. I felt like I was told what I needed to hear to not be upset but in the end I just got a larger than anticipated bill and stuck with quite a bit of work to finish the job myself.I will not be using this shop in the future. It would have been better if they refused the job in the first place and would have avoided unnecessary complications.
Over priced, kept my car way longer then quoted. Then the engine seized in less then 10k after new head gaskets. Pulled the engine and inspected it, these idiots used so much RTV it plugged the oil passages. Total loss... I wouldn’t take a bicycle to alpine auto doctors.
These guys are running a real scam with their business! They sold us an old Subaru for $5,000 with over 300,000 miles on it. They told us the whole engine, transmission, etc had been replaced with new parts, but it is clearly not true. When we bought it, we were sceptical but they eased our concerns about its mileage.Weve had it for less than a year and I think its already dying. When we confronted them about to they basically told us that we shouldnt have expected to be able to drive it. What kind of business is that? Theyre cheap, lying, two-faces mechanics that give the profession a bad name.Do not go to these people!!
Love Scott... Best mechanic
Scott and his crew replaced the distributor and fuel pump in my 1988 Land Cruiser. When I picked it up on Saturday (the bill was $1300) I could barely get it home - no power, overheated. Took it in the following Monday and spent three hours while they diddled with it. This time I got it home, but continued to have problems with overheating and lack of power. Finally had another shop look at it. After much effort at diagnosis, they discovered that the distributor had not been installed at TDC and that the firing order had been altered from spec to get it to run. Properly installing the distributor at TDC and restoring the proper firing order solved the problem, but it cost me another $500 in labor. I contacted Scott about reimbursement but was ignored.
Quick and excellent service, they found my problem in a few minutes, even on a quick call on a saturday. Pro service in a very friendly package !!!
Always takes the best care of my car, friendly
I had these folks put used tires on my truck today. Seems used tires for my truck are hard to find, so waiting three days was a bummer, but having done business with Scot in the past, I thought it was worth it. HOWEVER, as I sat in the waiting room Scot began to discuss things with a young man. Most of what he said was typical tin-foil hat stuff, but when he got to the part about the bakery in Oregon that was fined for not making a cake for a gay couple,he must not have realized I was sitting there, a 53 year old gay man. The owner of this shop said he can understand a law saying he has to serve Mexicans and blacks, because they are born Mexican and black and cannot help it, but he should be able to deny service to gay people, since being gay is a choice. UMmmmm...HELLO! One person got up and walked out. My partner of twenty years and I will never go back. Ignorant Bigots.
Stay away. Take your vehicle else where
These guys spent 20 minutes searching for a used bushing to fix my jeep and didnt even charge me. Saved me a lot of trouble.
Jack of all trades, and master of none. Take your car to a real professional.
Not the best experience, the owner yelled at me after I told him his workers were unhappy and careless and its an reflection of his business.
Racist, shady people that do a half a*$&^d job on a brake job...I wouldnt go here If I were you.
Honest!
Thieves!!!
