I have had an amazing and healing experience at MHCD. As a result of losing people I loved and pandemic isolation, I experienced severe trauma and needed help. MHCD intervened with therapy and Esketamine treatments that have turned my life around. Almost everyone I encountered there was loving, caring, and professional in their work with me. The first therapist I was assigned to was not the best fit, but I was able to request a change to work with someone who is focused on my healing and giving a great deal of attention to supporting a new direction Ive chosen for my life. The Esketamine treatments have been very powerful to help me discover and integrate parts of myself that I was ignoring and were necessary for me to find joy and fulfillment in my life. The staff at the Esketamine clinic also have been very caring and clearly love the work they are doing. They also were flexible in accommodating my specific needs. With regards to the other comments on MHCD, I would suggest that like any large medical clinic, you have ask for what you want and be open to what is offered to get the best results. It may take a bit of extra effort to get online counseling scheduled, they seem to have some difficulties with it.

I was a consumer at MHCD from 2000 on, and here is why I left:The excellent staff I and other clients I have talked to has sadly diminished to a few people who stand out because they actually help consumers and do not increase their suffering. My last place as an MHCD client was the second floor of the main building on 12th and Clermont. The manager hired for the second floor relatively recently (about 4-5 years ago) Lisa Beaton, began hiring new staff. One person she hired was a nurse practitioner named Lauren Murphy, who became my prescribing professional. On my second visit with Lauren, she cut off one of my meds, saying she thought I was on drugs. A LabCorp drug test confirmed I consumed thc and cold medicine. She continued to refuse me the med. Lisa supported her. I spent 4 months tortured by anxiety seeking a new individual to give me meds. They didn’t care. One of the med assistants on the 2nd floor yelled at me (Jose), no disciplinary action was taken with him.I sought out the patient advocate, named Vincent. Vincent definitely protected MHCD and let me hang in the wind without meds I needed.I have heard from another consumer recently Lauren is gone from MHCD. Good riddance. Of course, with Lisa hiring, her replacement will no doubt be deficient in empathy, maybe even a little sadistic, like Lauren. And no doubt Lisa will ignore consumers in favor of her hires, as she did with me. (When I met Lisa, I found her extremely intimidating and scary in her demeanor.)I am frightened by the manner in which MHCD has deteriorated now. There are patients who are not capable of advocating for themselves in the hands of these people. Yikes!I have been seeing my nurse practitioner at the Aldergrove Group (an excellent organization) for nearly 2 years, with great satisfaction, but I worry for other ill treated, decompenstated people there, these people have power over them.I dearly miss the time before Lisa was hired, when I felt cherished and aided by my team. Goodbye MHCD!!! And sadly, I’m relieved. A once great company has lost its luster no question. At least Lauren Murphy is gone, after a very brief employment in a company where the staff customarily makes the work there their career. Perhaps Lauren left in bad odor, I don’t know, but I know her short time there is unusual, her Nurse Ratched style approach uncommon in the traditional MHCD environment. I like to think she has been and the others unworthy of MHCD will be edged out somehow.

The employees are afraid of losing clients. Some are afraid of them, while they try to dominate them.

I havent had any help from them. I had one Dr transfer after meeting me once. I had a different Dr that talked down to me and didnt listen. Today, I was supposed to have another appointment with a new Dr and they didnt even bother to email me for the online meeting. I feel like MHCD has forgotten about me. Edit: they are worse than I thought. The same dr has canceled on me again. This time with notice at least. Take your health care issues somewhere else

They are SO good they can change your entire course of treatment in two visits.Irresponsible, and when I finally put a bullet in my head, Dr Stauter will be on my list of people to lead me there. Ask her, she can lead anyone to nibble on a barrel.

This is the best place in Denver for mental health services. I had a nervous breakdown 3 years ago and getting back on medications for depression and working with my therapists have made me happy joyous and free. Sober now 14 years.

The absolute worst mental health service ever. Staff was horrible w calling back and my case manager simply was not knowledgeable and did almost nothing to help. Then, after updating my phone number numerous times, they continued to call the old number. After not reaching my for 90 days, they closed out service for me. If you value mental health and want to get better, DO NOT USE MHCD, doing nothing is better.

As an aging adult....ok, as a senior, mental health issues and all that it entails, has tremendously effected my life. Not to age myself further, but maybe, before many of todays diagnoses where even, diagnosed. In my childhood there was a cure for all the so called alphabet soup diagnoses. No it wasnt medication or therapy. It was called a whipping. And it was prescribed for all that ailled you.Mental Health and all that that entails has come a long way. It is safe to say that it has been a rough and barbaric road. And I have great respect for all those that suffered thru it and for it. My own journey to where I am now, was not so much a road. It was a river. Im sure you have heard many to tales of this majestic waterway, The River Da Nile.I find it ironic that now I am at a point in my journey where I accept and somewhat understand my diagnosis, that is not always true among my family and friends. Who with good intentions, Im sure, believe my condition or my fave my situation can be prayed away, ignored, or cured by this herb or pill. A truly magic cure-all pill, a one dose cures most, if you will. And I dont know whats what some days. This over load of information on everything under the sun is just too much for one person to decipher. So please allow me to break it down for ya all. Let me give you the 411 on MHCD Of Denver. Thru all my years. Thru all my struggles, Thru all my anguish, Thru all my trials, Thru many programs in many different states, when I was literally crying for help, literally dying for help. MHCD has been the one program that has offered, real help, for real issues, that provide real answers, for real problems, that really improve, and really address, what we as mental health clients really face in todays world. Which is what we really need, real people, who realize the reality of what our reality is on a daily basis. And provide real programs, offer real services, have real people who do it really well. And they see us. In a world where the homeless are invisible. Where the poor are invisible. Where the mentally ill are invisible. Where people suffering is invisible, to MHCD we are Real. They See Us. They Acknowledge Us. They Help Us. For Real.

I recently had a phone appointment with my psychiatrist who agreed we needed to increase one of my medications. That phone appointment was on March 11th. April 16th i had another phone appointment with her and told her the improvements since the increase on my medication. We agreed that would be good for me to stay on the new dose. She decreased a different medication on the 16th as well. She called in refills of my medications but forgot the 2nd pill to the med we increased. I called to bring this to their attention i needed to have the 2nd one filled. The nurse that called me back was very rude and unprofessional in every possible way with the worst attitude and treated me like i was just trying to get more medications for fun or something. I explained to her when the increase was made and that i already spent an entire month on the new dose. She insisted the new dose was never documented and therefore have to take the old dose of 5mg and im supposed to be on 15mg. Now anyone that knows how mental health meds work you cant increase meds and then do a sudden decrease like that without tapering down. Well thats what the nurse is saying i have to deal with because the changes were never documented. This isnt my first major issue with mhcd but it will be my last and i dont reccommend this facility to ANYONE! The way the nurse was to me and the doctor failing to document important information in medication changes is alo very concerning that they even have licenses at all. Please spare yourself the agony of going here and find another facility.

Im poor, but make too much for Medicaid. I was surprised at how willing they are to work with the uninsured. Not a big fan of my psychiatrist, but on the whole, access and affordability is wonderful there. They occasionally offer behavioral therapy classes, which is fantastic.

I noticed folks speaking negatively about mhcd . I have been with them for about 10yrs and have nothing but positive experiences. My connections with doctors n therapists have been nothing but positive . Having prior experience working in the mental health field I can say they do know what theyre doing, they are professional n their community resources are very helpful n informative. Considering folks in this field are like teachers in that they dont make enough money for the type of work they do . I guess Im one of the lucky ones! Wouldnt be where I am today if it werent for the professional, caring n expert guidance and resources made avail to me by the folks that work here. Thank you!

Love my dr and therapist. My only complaint is sometimes my medications are due on a Saturday or Sunday, since theyre closed on weekends, I have to wait until Monday. Why not open a community pharmacy at least on Saturday until noon or something??

MHCD really represents an OUTMODED model for healthcare, in which the Mind/Body Connect is NEGATED. Therefore, when patients experience uncomfortable side effects from psychotropic drugs, they are likely to SELF-MEDICATE, thus nullifying any beneficial effects of the medication.
