Terry and staff were always pleasant to work with and were upfront with timelines. There was an issue when I finally got my motor back with the exhaust cam being out of time. This would have been a big nuisance had I not caught it with the engine still on the stand. But Terry had his guys come to my house and had it corrected that day. Ive put almost 2k miles on the motor so far and it is running like brand new. I also feel like I got an exceptional value compared to what other shops are charging for the same type of work.

Terry and the Crew did a full remove, rebuild, re-install on my 1953 Chevy. They took amazing care of my baby, no nicks or dings taking the motor in/out. Had some problems after the rebuild, which can be expected with such comprehensive work, and he totally stood behind his work and made it right. I would not hesitate to recommend and would go back to Western Engine even with my precious collectable cars.

Horrible! Especially Terry! Hey Terry look! Heres my threat of NEVER recommending your company! Terry, go ahead and respond like you have all the other bad reviews! Excited to see your response on giving me a car oil pump when the motor I brought into you was for a 4x4 truck that calls for a completely different oil pump because of the pick-up tube! Argue it, please!! Like you did when I called you! Youre also a thief! I want my money back for the incorrect pump kit! Your turn Terry....

If you want customer service, you will not find a stand up shop like this anywhere! They admitted a simple mistake, refunded our money, even delivered the product back to us in exactly 18hrs. They put us on priority and delivered more than expected. Keep in mind we dropped off the product right before they closed. WOW! Keep it up, this is the standard every shop should follow, thank you very much and you have earned our business for life!

An honest shop, that delivers what it promises. I could not be happier with my experience with these folks. From Mona at the front desk to Terry the gentleman that runs the show. An honest quote beating the others by just a bit as well as professionalism, knowledge and service. I had my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 (with a 4.7 V8) over heat due to a malfunctioning thermostat. Estimates from shops where way out of my budget for what i thought would just be new heads. I decided to undertake my own engine repair by purchasing new heads, water pump, and thermostat. Once all was installed (purchased from Advance Auto Parts). I was rewarded by the engine firing right up, only to discover that my short block was now knocking due to the severe overheating that had occurred. As it had been 25 years since the last time I was this deep in an engine. I was shocked at the prices being quoted and dismayed by the caviler attitude I encountered with shop after shop. I called Western, explained my situation to Terry and the price dropped too; what for was me affordable. 1 week later, they got me my engine (short block) and delivered it at slightly less then the original quote! I have several gear head friends and made sure they knew how me, the not so experienced shopper was treated. I would recommend to anyone.

First off I would like to say how professional and smart the owner Terry is. I was shopping around for a machine shop here in Colorado for awhile, and after meeting Terry and doing a walk through of his shop. I decided to have him build a 460 for me. After one short week the motor was finished. Stabbed it in, in a couple days and it took off beautifully. Its good to find a shop that takes pride in what they do and stand behind there work. If your on the fence about a engine builder just go in and talk to them you will be sold, like I was. Thanks guys for the great work!!

We toured the shop and decided to have Western rebuild an obsolete 391 Ford industrial engine. The only problem we had was a communication problem caused by our IT department. Terry called and left a call me urgent voice mail that I never received. I chewed him out when we picked up the engine because of the 1 day delay that I hadnt been told about. Three weeks later when the IT department restored something I received his voicemail with a date stamp of the day he called. After re-installation, break-in and a full load test, every operator has told me that I did a great job! This engine had never run that well before.Would I take another engine to Western Engine? Yes I have submitted budget requests for 4 more. Probably 1 a year.

Originally was told engine rebuild would cost $5000, then it kept going up. By the time I actually got my van 2 1/2 after they said it would be done the total bill was over $6300. 5 months and 12k miles later the engine blew. AWFUL experience. STAY AWAY!

I asked for my block to be baked and inspect the line hone and bore taper. I called a week or so later and was told all my machine work was done. Boring, Decking the block and bake/shotpeen. I paid for the work and thought hard about was came out of my mouth when I dropped off my block. I accepted that I may not have been clear about boring but I never mentioned decking the block. To be fair to the shop they did refund the money for that service. This is the first engine I have built and in my profession (engineering), I consider it part of my job to educate my clients. I would choose another shop in my humble opinion. Search auto machine shop or engine rebuilding services.

Horrible service. Time after time, their estimated time projections were off. First it was, Itll be just a few days. Then it was, Actually next week. Then it was Tuesday. Then Wednesday. Then, finally, Thursday and even then, that was BARELY correct.I understand its hard to estimate when you can get a car done but when you say it will be ready at [x time] today and you end up waiting for over an hour is ridiculous. On top of this the staff, especially the receptionist, is unbelievable rude.

Had them rebuild subaru ej257 heads in March. Installed with brand new short block from Subaru car would never start. I been trying to find out whats wrong with it. I took it to a subaru performance shop. They car has 30 psi of compression due to heads not being built / assembled right. I been out of a car for almost a year. Now am out even more money because they could built my heads right. Very frustrated. I would like my money back plus money for damages and down time.

I had a honda civic cylinder head rebuilt here a couple months ago and about 20 miles into the first drive, I hear all kinds of valve train noise and have to shut it off on the side of the road. Turns out the sealing bolt that goes in the inspection hole on my cam bearing cap wasnt tightened at all and blew out inside the valve cover while the engine was running... Unfortunately, I dont feel like I can trust this shop after that. Looks like I should have read the reviews first.

The company I work for spends on average $2,500 a month with Western Engine. From small jobs like just resizing a connecting rod to complete engine block jobs. I have my self built at least 20 short and long blocks where the machine work was done by Western and I have NEVER had a problem. When you assemble engines there are steps that the mechanic must take responsibility for. Example when your crankshaft has mileage wear and you send the crank to be ground BUT you decide not to send the connecting rods because you feel there fine. That is a bad decision. The list of responsibility when taking on the title of mechanic is end less. Engine building is not something you wake up one morning and just decide to start doing. Learn the responsibility and except the consequences when skipping procedure before you point your finger in the opposite direction.

AWESOME CREW!!!! I took my 2004 VW Passat TDI there with possible transmission issue after being told by another company that it was throwing a transmission codes and the torque converter was going out ($5000) estimate. I never saw anything light up on the dash though. They test drove it checked the codes and told me it was fine. I was also getting an check engine light and one glow plug was out. The replaced all 4 at my request (when one goes I believe the others will soon follow). Great price and a truly honest shop. Darryl is a super duper service adviser. They always fix it right the first time.

I will never again use this company, first of all Terry who I dealt with was arrogant and rude the whole time we had to deal with him. That bit of unprofessionalism and that fact that they do not stand by there work is probably the reason reviews are poor. We paid them 2400.00 to rebuild an engine, from the get go it had valve noise. Terry told us his guys didnt make mistakes, had our guys fix it cause we didnt want to deal with the attitude.5 months later vehicle smoked like crazy, so we took it back to them. They told us they couldnt get the car to smoke. I soon as I picked it up it smoked. Bottom line this place does a terrible job at something their suppose to be good at. Best to go somewhere were their going to stand by product and word.

Took a 2.0 Zetec in for some work. Crank turned, block bored, and new pistons installed. Wanted head work done, but was told that the head was cracked. The engine ran fine before teardown, no compression loss or coolant loss. Picked up the block and grabbed a different head from a junkyard, which worked great. Put it all together and within a week, number 1 rod was knocking. Bearings were wiped out, had tons of machining trash in them. Crank is now unserviceable. Rather than dealing with them, I just cut my losses and dropped in a used longblock.

Needed my engine bored out, they told me over the phone they would have it done in a week when I dropped it off they changed it from a week to a week in and half. I called them once they had my engine for a week and a half and they told me they hadnt even started work on the engine and they needed another week. Rosa who we spoke to on the phone was very rude and not at all thrilled to address the issue. We picked up our engine that day and took our business elsewhere.

This place is junk they took $2500.00 to rebuild an engine for our shop. Two months later there was valve noise, we called Terry who is an idiot and he stated that it has to be a fuel injector noise cause his guys are perfact and dont make mistakes. We made valve adjustments and the noise went away. Six months later the engine smokes on start up we where told that we nevered replaced the PCV and we did with an install kit. but we let them change it and it stills smokes. We where told that it was normal condensation build up in the exhaust system and it was ok. We were told that when we pulled away that we reved it up to high and the smoke was black and it was fuel related. When we got it back to our shop we lifted the vehicle and noticed that the head gaskets and the oil pump where leaking. I called Terry again and he stated that he found nothing wrong with the vehicle and it must be something we are doing wrong. All I can say is stay away from this place they are rip offs and will not honor any of there warrantys-I wish I would have read all the reviews about this place before we used them because if there was a no star option i would bet that they would have a no star review about them and I am willing to bet all the good reviews are from there empolyees to try to make this a trust worthy place and they are not.

We brought in two diesel heads for magnaflux, pressure test, and milling (if necessary), and was told they would have the results of the magnaflux test in the morning. No joy, nothing until I asked to speak with the owner. THEN suddenly theyve been magnafluxd and there is no crack. Fine, on to pressure test. Another day, more dont call us, well call you when its done, and nothing. Finally phoned, get told theyre waiting for authorization to DO the pressure test (NOT true, that was given already) and that they left several messages throughout the day (but not even ONE time did their number show up on Caller ID, let alone a message. Finally went to pick them up and take them to a real shop. When I get there, theyve lost one of the valve stem seals, so we had to buy a new set. Not even remotely apologetic about any of it, couldnt take a check as it wouldnt go through their processor (though there was nothing wrong with it. I paid by CC, took the heads, and will NEVER give them the opportunity to hold up a job, lose a part, and overcharge us ($40 to clean it, $40 to magnaflux...) like that again. So be warned; NOT a good company to do business with.
