Too many waivers forms to fill out. A day pass which includes gear is about $22. Lot of options to test and try your climbing skills. Seems more suited to teens and adults than kids unless they really love climbing. We had a younger kid with us who spent more time gearing up and gave up climbing after 10 mins. One staff member was helpful and tried to give good tips on climbing. Gave them 3 stars for the help and overall facility unrelated to our experience. Not sure we will do this again.
Son is part of Team Summit and he absolutely LOVES the coaches/staff. He enjoys the camps throughout the year! Highly recommend.
Great gym, especially for bouldering. This summit location employs some great setters that utilize the shape and angle of the various walls to encourage interesting movement, tension, and body position. I had a great time exploring all the different features. They also have a great training area upstairs with hangboards and system walls. My only complaint would be the grading system (see picture). The grades overlap too much. You could hop on an orange, purple, or pink and be climbing v6 for example. Parking is ample and they offer yoga and gear rentals.
Great place to climb. NOT family friendly. Policies and procedures seem to change from visit to visit making it very difficult to plan ahead.
I have been climbing in Summit gyms since November 2018, and still am. The gym experiences have always been great. However, I wish the staffs are trained in basic EMT treatments for sprains, torn skins, etc. -- which are quite common for beginners. I have personally witnessed sprained ankle and dislocated elbow by non-members, to which the staffs only stand around and take notes while the injured moans with pain. This is one area I think the owners should really work to improve.
Very fun place. Nice people. Will be going back.
Emailed 4-5 times over a month for private lessons and although someone emailed me back a few times they never connected me with anyone and then eventually just quit responding. Sent two messages via Facebook over a week and nothing. I get it if they just can’t do it right now or they are short handed but jeez. Just let me know, right?
A great place. Wednesday was a two for one deal so that was awesome for my group of 8. The staff was friendly and very patient, I had teenagers with me who are always goofing off but the three staff members that did the orientation were not phased and kept them engaged.Although crowded, there is a lot of lanes for the various climb type. The different rated climbs are also well marked.Youll need to sign a waiver but you can do that online so it makes it easier. They have a store that sells pretty good products such as does, chalk, harness and the likes. There are separate restrooms from the dressing rooms and there are also cubby holes to put your stuff in, like your shoes or work clothes if you went straight to work like I did.A fun place and several of my boys remarked that its a good place to do a date and even group dates.
Awesome staff. Awesome gym. Awesome crowd. Great workout. Definitely give climbing a try if you havent.
The staff here is incredible, the location is great and the walls are always being updated with fun and challenging new routes. I absolutely LOVE the vibe. This is my favorite place to climb AND do yoga!
First time climber- Had a great time. Staff was super nice & will be returning for sure!!
Great gym to climb at. Routes get changed frequently, plenty of options for every level of climber. Staff is informative and cheerful. Highly recommend whether youre a beginner or have been climbing for decades.
My friends and I had a blast learning to climb and tiring ourselves out. The staff was super informative and happy to teach us how to do things safely.
The staff is great, and helpful for recommendations. Especially the guy with the long pony tail (sorry, forgot your name 😬). I enjoy the atmosphere, everyone is having fun while exercising? Not all places get that out of people. Became a member after only a couple visits because the place is just addicting and fun.
The staff was incredibly welcoming! Equipment and the routes were really fun and challenging!
Good from beginners to experts. Can get really crowded at times, but hopefully the opening of the Plano location has alleviated some of that
Cool place. Awesome ppl. Meh music
Great atmosphere, and super cool people. Not my favorite gym Ive been to, but they have a spectacular bouldering wall. If you have a summit membership, I definitely reccomend checking out this place for the good atmosphere
Been climbing at this gym for over 3 years. I love it! Top roping is fun for all levels. Bouldering is good too. They are doing reservations because of Covid so go to their website for the details or call them. They are always helpful over the phone.
Love this place!!! Im come for the bouldering and now that they have those awesome moon and kilter boards im going to be visiting much more often!
You have to wear a mask over you nose and mouth while climbing i almost fanted from the lack of oxygen. I wouldnt recommend summit to anyone ever. Doing anything physical while only breathing in co2 is so illogical.
Had a great time climbing at this location. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, facility was clean and well-maintained, and we joined the yoga class. However, even though the facility has a great selection of shoe sizes, including half sizes, they did not have large enough shoes available to accommodate my father. He wore the largest size they had, and he only lasted a half hour before giving up. When he removed the shoes, his toenails were visibly bruised. Hopefully Summit can stock some even larger shoes so as to include my dad, who otherwise enjoyed his experience.
Great place!
My favorite of all the summit locations, hands down.
The climbing area is falling apart and is in need of complete remodeling.
Summit Dallas is probably the second best gym out of the DFW summit gyms. Each of the summit gyms has strengths and weaknesses. Dallas is pretty balanced. They have top rope climbing and bouldering. Their top rope is a little weak though. I prefer Grapevine’s top rope climbing. But if you’re in Dallas, just make the trip up to Plano. Summit Plano is by far the best gym, which is why I gave this one 4 stars in comparison.Summit as a whole is a good gym. I have been a member for nearly a year and I haven’t had any problems with them. Membership is pretty expensive but if you climb often enough it’s worth it.
The members and staff are friendly and supportive. Good atmosphere.
My partner and I tried Summit for the first time today. We bought day passes online which was easy, then we went to 9:00am yoga. The instructor was wonderful (Emily I think but don’t quote me). She was very helpful as we have not done yoga in many years and I’m not in the best shape (working on it). She showed us modifications and assisted when necessary. Very calming voice. After a break we went into climb. Orientation went smoothly, the instructor was very encouraging and made sure we thouroughly understood the process. We actually did much more than we thought we would be able to! I will also mention that there was a man climbing who said he taught kids there, he was so gently encouraging and really gave us confidence when we faltered or became nervous.Overall this may have been one of my best gym experiences. Staff was great, good value for the price, clean and well maintained. I am looking forward to coming back soon.
Really great boulders, so-so ropes
Mask mandate extremism
I had an amazing time last night!Since it was our first time we went through orientation with John. First off shout out to John! He clearly enjoys his work and he truly made the learning experience as easy and comprehensive as possible. All the staff in fact were very friendly.Debating a membership since I want to also try the yoga and some of the other classes they offer. If you get a chance I definitely recommend you stop in and check it out!
Atmosphere is very laid back & collaborative, so dont be nervous if youve never climbed before! Employees will get you set up with everything you need and perform a quick but thorough orientation! Summit has bouldering walls & auto belay options if you come alone...but they will also teach you how to belay if youd like to learn. I enjoy coming here & recommend it for a fun workout, a group outing, or date night!Tips:+Fill out the waiver in advance online!+Check out the specials they have on specific days(2 for 1 on wednesdays, etc.)+Take a friend & have fun!
Beware if you want to cancel your membership.I moved away at the end of 2019 and called summit to cancel my membership. They said that they usually require people to come into the gym to cancel. When I said I couldnt make a special trip back to Dallas just to cancel in person, I was assured that they would immediately suspend my membership and I could fill out the cancelation paperwork via email. After a mixup Ive found that, without notice, they restored my membership to active status and have been charging me for months. I emailed them when I discovered this and requested a refund for the months that I thought my account had been terminated, the general manager was reluctant to promise a refund since they didnt have record of receiving my cancelation when I thought I sent it in. I wish I would have been notified when my account status changed, and I wish they would have been more understanding after the fact. But they came through in the end. Lesson learned, if I did it over again, I would call to confirm that the membership had been canceled after the paperwork was filled out.
Lovely gym, wonderful staff. To the person that stole my water bottle though, screw you!UPDATE: Thank you so so much for replacing it! It was super sweet and extra of yall to do that and go the extra distance to take care of me. Take care be back soon
I’ve been climbing here for years and the service and quality has seriously declined lately. The setters do not seem to care about the routes they set or have anyone climb it all the way through and check it out. Most of the ratings are off on both bouldering and rope walls. I emailed the owner and talked to the front staff with no response. The comment cards are always gone because so many people have issues with the routes and nothing has been done to fix it. Very poor customer service. Oso is starting a gym here in Dallas and I am excited to move over once they open up.
Sam and Zack were awesome (Summitt Gym-Dallas). We brought our church youth department out for their first lock-in, and they had a blast! Not only did the youth have a blast, but so did the youth workers... thanks to Sam and Zack who help keep the crew entertained! Sam and Zack went above and beyond their duties. Our youth loved them and is ready to come back! Sam and Zacks customer service was excellent!!! Sam and Zack kept us all up busy with fun and laughs!!! They ensured safety at all times and made this experience be the best experience for all of us!!! On the behalf of Chosen Generation Church (Terrell, Texas) we like to give a BIG thanks to Zack and Sam!
For being new to the sport and to the community I felt that the Summit was a fantastic place to start! The staff who has helped me and my buddy get comfortable and show us around the place was Riley. Loved the facility as a whole. The place is great to just hang out after a good climb. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try out rock climbing!
We had a kids event here recently for our elementary school kids. The staff was awesome. So helpful, involved, and enthusiastic. They cheered on the kids as they climbed and made sure everyone got a chance to participate. Even though they attract some hardcore climbers, it really is a family-friendly joint. Kudos to Summit!
Kid Rockers is Awesome! My 5 year old goes on Saturdays, and he just loves it. Friendly coaches, the kids all have fun, and the parents can watch or get a workout in themselves. Wish we had found out about it earlier.
Summit is my favorite place ever!
Either let people take their shirts off or turn the AC on and don’t let it be 75-80 degrees in the gym.
I brought my child here for a birthday party. The kids had from rock and they had a great experience. I would love to go here myself and recommend this place to everyone!
I brought a large group of Optional level gymnasts here for my daughters Sweet 16 birthday party! Its difficult finding something new, fun and challenging for these girls to do. This was definitely the place! The staff was awesome and everyone had a great time! Highly recommended!!
Officially my happy place. This is the BEST place for Yoga in the DFW area with classes that account for needs as a climber. The atmosphere is wonderful, I’ve yet to encounter a front desk person or instructor who wasn’t incredibly nice and helpful. The energy here is supportive and encouraging. Literally could not be a better place in my opinion.
Had my daughter’s tenth birthday party here. Evan and Noah were exceptional hosts, let alone belayers! The staff was very flexible and understanding with extending our 2-hour reservation just a bit longer due to the local Pizza Hut running late with our delivery. The kids really enjoyed the experience. Thanks Summit!
This place is amazing. You will definitely not find any other place in Dallas like this. If youre a beginner, dont be afraid! It may be a challenge, but the reward of rubbing it in someones face that you reached the top is more than worth it. Experienced climbers be ready for an enjoyable challenge! Again, this place is amazing, and everybody should go. Now. Why are you still here?! Get out of the house and go!!
Hands down best bouldering I have done in a gym. They have tons of routes that are changed regularly and have a great amount of variety. I could go there 5 times a week and still have new problems to work on. The staff are friendly and really helpful if you need some help getting started, which is great because Ive been to gyms where the staff just sit behind the desk and stare at you with a blank face. If youre in the Dallas area and like bouldering I would highly recommend you check this place out.
Took my yoga teacher training at the Dallas location and could not have asked for a better experience and introduction into becoming a yoga instructor. The yoga studio is located onsite in a separate building which was always quiet. Spending lunch breaks in the climbing gym, I enjoyed climbing with the company of my fellow yogis and climbers.
My friend and I checked this place out yesterday for the first time and we had a blast! Its a large facility with a lot of different sections pertaining to different experience levels.James was extremely helpful and patient as he gave us a tutorial of the equipment. He was very funny as well!It was a great overall body work out and I will be back next weekend!
Kids classes are amazing... Staff is first rate.
Favorite gym to boulder at :) tons of fun. Friendly people. And as per the other gyms, the competitions are too fun and entertaining to miss. Id recommend this place to anyone looking for a good workout or even just to access their kid inside. After all, its basically a grown ups play pen!
I had a great time up until the last thirty minutes. I have been climbing for seven years and have climbed at gyms around the US and have never had an experience like this before. Once the youth team was released from practice they began running around the gym, running under people and were pulling each other off the wall. When I saw this I notified the staff of what I witnessed so they went over to where I was working a route and told them to follow the rules. I got back on a route and from the top I popped off and was inches from directly landing on a kid who decided to run under me after he had just been told to stop. I legitimately was not worried about that childs safety but my own. I have a bad knee and it would have most likely lead to me re tearing my ACL if I had landed on that kid. The staff went up and reprimanded the kid again but I watched him laugh as they talked to him. At the gym I coach in our kids would have been told they were done climbing for their first offense let alone for being under a climber more than once! These kids did not stop after and I left as a result. Im highly disappointed in the back of respect these kids have while being on a team. Ive never seen that attitude anywhere and would never allow that behavior at the gym I work at.
So much fun and a great workout! We just did the climbing. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. And the place seemed pretty clean. Will go back.
I love this gym. I started going after I graduated college as a way to stay in shape. Great climbing routes that are changed frequently, the yoga instructors are awesome, and I started doing the climb fit program. Overall a wonderful place and Ive never had a bad experience.
The location and the climbing are great! But the staff do not seem the least bit worried about the safety of their patrons.IF you go, be very aware of whats going on around you while you climb. You could hurt yourself or others as kids run under you and around you.The staff decided to talk to the kids. And nothing happened.
Ive recently rejoined the climbing community and am very pleased with Summit Dallas. The staff is really on top of things, especially when it comes to safety. Routes are changed often enough to give more experienced climbers something new to work on each time they come in. Many routes of varying difficulty are set to accommodate different ability levels. The gym even offer a variety of yoga classes free to members - a big highlight for me!
This gym is more focused on bouldering (where you only climb to a safe height without a rope and then climb back down or fall down). They have 2 feet deep padding to fall on in their bouldering section and are regularly changing out entire walls routes. They recently added a couple of auto belay systems in the ropes section, and they are changing out and updating sections of the ropes areas as well. Staff is friendly and helpful, and safe, but not obnoxious about things. Overall I have been very satisfied with the gym. They recently started free yoga classes, and if you have a membership here you can go to the gym in Grapevine for free too. It is great.
Weve been coming here for years and the place is simply great. Fantastic staff that is both friendly and super helpful. My son is on TeamTX and comes here for training. They are constantly changing things up to keep up the challenge.
I am new to climbing and have really liked my experience at Summit. The staff is friendly and very welcoming to newcomers. The rate seems very reasonable for membership to climb and do yoga. I hope to take classes soon to learn more about climbing!
Came for my sons 12th bday and they had a blast... employees very helpful and thorough with instructions
This place is wonderful! Student nights / ladies nights are definitely really good deals. Id also recommend monthly membership if you can make it 15 out of 30 days in a month. Great workout for cores and balance.
Fantastic place to climb, friendly staff with lots of top rope and bouldering problems to keep your heart happy. Love this place!
I want to note that this location has half-size shoes (i.e 7.5, 8.5....)! Has both a rock-climbing and bouldering. Great landing pads. Has a changing room and bathrooms! Separate yoga building to isolate noise.
My daughter dropped in for a free class for Kids Club and she absolutely loved it. The teacher, Marion was very patient, gentle, knowledgeable and taught the students great strategies. The 1 1/2 hour class had kids in there at different levels. Signing up soon for lessons!
Awesome for bouldering, but not much else. The top rope area feels rather sketchy compared to other gyms. You will also find friendlier staff elsewhere.
Gym was nice, staff was friendly and engaging throughout the gym, definitely a great place to go and grow as a climber
Summits many bouldering walls are far more impressive than any other indoor climbing gyms. The climbing walls are challenging but doable, with a wide range of skill levels. The staff are kind, helpful, and know what theyre doing. I strongly recommend a visit to Summit Indoor Rock Climbing Gym
Not too bad! I was initially drawn in by the free community yoga, but decided to show up early to boulder beforehand. I think I will end up coming back if I’m in Dallas during the week. (I avoid bouldering on weekends due to crowds.)Thoughts on the bouldering section:(Pros): Even mix of grades throughout the “Canyon”, allowing climbers the option to work on their preferred degree of slope. Bouldering area is graded by color rather than indicated by a label. This gym feels cleaner than others I’ve been to.(Cons): The “Canyon” is narrow, leaving little safe space to rest between climbs. Staff stay up front or do minor maintenance. They seem to not patrol the bouldering area, instead relying on climbers to notify staff of others’ problem behavior (or to call out issues themselves.) Somehow, my home gym (same climbing area size at Summit) manages to patrol safety just fine, even with only two staff on hand. Several footholds that should have felt rough were slippery, but I couldn’t tell if this was due to the age of the holds or the length of time they’d been on the wall. There was also only one narrow section of slab set up when I came in. (The second slab section appeared to be closed.) I love slab and wish there had been more of it available to climb!(Suggestions to Summit): Buy more textured holds. Set more slab problems.Thoughts on yoga:I never thought I’d say this, but I prefer a more Eastern style of yoga classes. Loved that Summit is committed to free yoga the first Friday of every month (especially when it’s so hard to find free yoga classes that aren’t packed!) Note that my pros/cons are mostly personal, as one’s yoga practice is apt to be.Pros for me: The instructor was kind and allowed late (well, on-time) arrivals. The space was more serene than I expected for a corporate gym. Great signage. Felt like I got mostly what I needed. Oh, and they didn’t charge for borrowing mats!Cons for me: The class felt a smidge too “fitness-y”. The class was billed as a focus on “hip opening” and “shoulder opening”. I definitely think I felt the shoulder-opening part, but I was disappointed that we didn’t do pigeon pose (my favorite hip-opener.) More cubbies would be nice for larger classes.Suggestions to would-be visitors: Bring yoga towels (the loaner mats are Manduka Pro, which are notoriously slippery even in non-hot classes). Definitely take advantage of the free first Fridays.
Only been to this location twice but each time I went the staff was amazing. They are very help and really encouraging. I guess they make their rounds to make sure everyone is doing good and being safe and if they see you on that stuggle bus, like I was, they take the time to stop what their doing and encourage you to keep going. The Carrollton facility is closer to me, but this one is definitely worth the drive, because of the amazing staff and its a bigger facility. Cant wait to go back once my hands recover
Awesome place and a supportive community. Routes are frequently updated. Perks like membership discounts on gear, yoga and abs classes are a plus. $50 each month is a bit pricey though.
Great climbing and amazing yoga! Super affordable (offers student discounts). Ive been looking for a place like this for years, so happy I found Summit!
I went to the Summit Gym in Dallas and had an amazing time. The walls are tall, the routes are fun, and it has a really awesome bouldering section. The recent change in management has done this place wonders and I will definitely be going back.
A little older and waaaay smaller than Plano location, but sill my favorite gym to go
Went here for the first time today, the staff was great and took the time to make sure I knew how to belay correctly.
My daughter came here for a week in the summer. She really enjoyed her time.Bottom line: We would come back here
I went there and had a blast!! It was a great way to exercise and have fun. I love the freedom you have to try new paths.
Tried to make a appointment. Group was not bigger than 10 people so denied but told appointment not needed. Organized 8 friends to come out the following weekend and placed was closed due to competition
I had my first climb experience here at the Summit. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. Showed me everything I needed to get started and made me feel safe.A must go to place!
Ive been coming frequently for the last several months, and I get greeted by NAME when I come in. Just so happens a few students at the school I teach at are on staff, and its been cool having them help me with problems at the gym. Several of the fitness classes have really benefited me as well.
Great gym, awesome staff, and they actually change up the routes from time to time so you arent stuck with the same old ones forever.
I went bouldering here for about a month and also atteneded a few morning yoga classes here! It is a really, really great facility. I love that they keep their walls updated and create new challenges for the climbers. Friendly staff and friendly climbers!
The climbing is very fun. Had a group of 4 young adults. The staff were little rude or maybe they just didnt want to be there helping the new people. No lockers to put belongings into, so definitely keep your phone with you and put wallet back in truck (staff dont even look concerned about it)
This place is a lot of fun. and youre guaranteed a good workout if you push yourself.
Amazing staff! Great routes! Super fun and safe. I love it!
Always different routes, just a great chill place. They do events often and their gear isnt to bad if you rent.
The climbers at Summit could not be more welcoming or more encouraging. Each staff member is happy to help you get started and each climber is happy to help you master any route you want. Nothing but good things to say about Summit.
Staff is awesome, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Safety is a main priority and the staff do regular walk throughs to ensure everyone is climbing responsibly. The staff members take the time to explain to all climbers (even experienced climbers if theyre new to the gym) safety, the grading system and climbing etiquette. As the old Operations Manager and having a major role in the construction of Dallas Rocks... which was/is my home and baby. I have no problem saying that Im proud to see the much needed improvements that the new owner and management have made. The upstairs training area, which was subpar, now resembles what a training area should be! Along with the much needed upgrade to the boulder area padding, adding changing rooms and numerous classes.Thank you for making my baby, Dallas Rocks, into what a climbing gym should be! Oh and for keeping the names of the different walls the same... seeing smalls wall, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd sister and of course big tex!
Great staff. Great people. Great place to climb for all skill levels!
REVIEW FOR NEWBIES (not for climbing junkies)This is for you if you are curious about Summit and want to figure out if you should try it out. I will use FEAR as a reference for this review.First: This place is chill. People are friendly. They will be happy to help you learn as a beginner. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO BE NEW HERE.Second: Climbing is risky. There are falls, slips, bumps, uncontrolled swinging from ropes, and injuries. These can be mitigated through proper use. And frankly, maybe we should all do slightly dangerous activities more often... probably good for us. But there is an element of danger. BE APPROPRIATELY AFRAID OF THIS.Third: There is a pretty great vibe between the majority of people that come to this location. Most everyone is open and will share advice on a route. However, stuff does get stolen here occasionally. There is no place to secure your belongings, so I recommend leaving valuables in the car. BE APPROPRIATELY AFRAID OF THISFinally: It is GREAT whole body training. If you are into functional training, myo-fascial development or integrated physical development, climbing is great. The body was designed to be used for more than repetitive motion. Climbing is a physical training practice. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO TRY IT.My whole family has a membership. My kids actually prompted me to join. Ive become a huge fan, and climb often and enjoy the figuring our the problem aspect of climbing. I find it way more engaging than just going to the gym. That said, there is a pint-sized functional training area that I use, which I really appreciate. I can get a lot of the basics of strength training and mobility done there as well. Finally, you can get gear rental rolled into your membership, so there is nothing you need to bring in order to get started with trying it out for yourself.
IM here as a guest to a childs birthday...As a parent Of a young child this is a fun active event... the staff is nice the glow show and Bounce house idea is awesome.
Awesome place to climb! Especially if youre new and working on a new project. Also the membership here has amazing training perks
