And after almost 3 years I can say I found it! I go to Britta and she always does an amazing job and gives me the exact haircut I ask for every time! I would recommend Brass Tacks to anyone/everyone! Place looks really cool. Unfortunately bad service. Walked in without an appointment seeing that not one customer was inside. They turned me down and said they only took appointments. I guess they were so busy cleaning their own chair, that they chose to not take a new customer 🤷‍♂️

Ive struggled finding a barber who would listen to what I wanted my hair to look like, but this place listens to you and does a damn good job. I recommend booking in advance and dont worry about who to book with, theyre all great at what they do.

I got a gift certificate for a beard trim for Christmas. I was a little nervous having someone else trim my beard because it is new and I had no clue about style or shape. I had the privilege of having Trey do an awesome trim and cut. My beard turned out looking better than I could have imagined! The atmosphere at Brass Tacks is definitely very chill and relaxing. The products Trey used during my session had my face feeling amazing, and some were products they make and sell. The appointment scheduling site was also a super convenient feature. I was able to schedule my appointment with only two days in advance.I would definitely recommend this place to anyone from first time beard trims to seasoned beards that need a refreshing experience. I will definitely be returning for future beard maintenance. By the way, those gift certificates are really a great idea for guys hard to shop for who also happen to have a beard. They are easily purchased in just a few clicks on their website.

Made an appointment, gave them a heads up I was going to be 10 minutes late and I got a text stating “Thanks for letting me know. If you are running more than a few minutes late, please contact the store owner directly”. I showed up 9 minutes late and there was no-one at the front. I let one of barbers know I was there for an appointment and he said they would be with me in a minute, I waited a few minutes and then I got a text stating that I was marked as a no show. Little after that a girl approached me and told me the barber wasn’t going to be able to see me because I was late. If they had said that from the beginning I wouldn’t had made the drive to the barbershop and I would had scheduled a different day or at a different place, this is ridiculous. Thanks for wasting my time. FYI appointment was for 5:30

Have gotten great haircuts here in the past, but tried a new barber today....ended up waiting in the lobby for Tristan for a half hour after my appointment time before giving up and leaving. Maybe today just wasnt their day.

Theres plenty of choices in Dallas when it comes to Barbers, but theres no reason to go anyway other than Altons. The shop has a chill laid back vibe and theres always entertaining conversation. This will be my fourth year going to Taylor. Ive not found anyone better at shaping my beard and he does the best fade in the business. Give Taylor a shot and Im sure you would agree with me!

More expensive than your average barber but they are above average in quality and care. I get my haircut here usually on my birthday or before an important interview/event and they make me look my best every time. They have free beer and there’s a pool table.. pretty great vibes. Will return.

This place is probably the raddest barber shop I’ve ever been in. From the people that work there to the “pisser” sign on the bathroom door that makes my boys laugh every time, the good tunes with beer on tap (which I’ve never had bc I bring my boys here😓).They do all the trendy fade cuts and pompadours, along with the straight razor shaves and beardy stuff (also never experienced this myself as I’m female and not bearded) but if i was a dude I’d be all over that😆My twin boys love to come get stylin cuts from Dallas at the Davis/Bishop Arts location.

Ian White is the best. Ive been seeing him for years and he never disappoints. He remembers what I want always, and I tell him to take his creativity to do what he wants and I have never been let down. Never takes more than 15 minutes, but is never short of 100% thorough--he is a true talent. A real treasure. Do yourself a favor and schedule with him. Youll never go back to Sports Clips.

My experience here was phenomenal. Jordan is awesome, dude is a wizard. I have really wavy and curly hair which makes it difficult to style it the way I want. He pulled it off flawlessly.

Told us we couldnt park in his empty parking lot on a busy Saturday. The lot is for two stores. One of which I was planning on going into while I was in the area. He mentioned money being the reason. It was frustrating because of how bad the parking around there is. Scared away a customer for himself and the vintage store, honestly.

Great shop with a great vibe. My barber was Abel Barrientos. I have really curly hair that barbers usually have a tough time getting the exact style Im looking for, but Abel executed it perfectly! Great cut and style. He also shaped up my beard really nicely! Will definitely be going back to him for my haircuts!

Ive driven to Brasstacks twice now from Garland. I plan to do it again, well worth the drive! Abel cut my hair both times, the guy knows what hes doing! He offered me ideas and thoughts on what he would be a good haircut for me. I went w/what he said and it turned out great! He took his time w/a shave and the cut. I have no problem recommending Abel. In fact, go schedule an appointment!!The establishment is well kept/clean, all of the barbers are personable, beer on tap, fun atmosphere.

I go to Morgan and she has always given me a perfect haircut. This place has a relaxed atmosphere and a cool shop. Really Ive been astounded by the haircuts Ive gotten here, everywhere else that Ive gone has had trouble with my hair because it has a mind of its own but Morgan knows how to cut my hair so that it looks good. She has an attention to detail and thinks about how its going to grow out so that it will look good until my next cut.

Brass Tacks is the best barber experience I’ve found anywhere! I moved from Dallas to the suburbs a few years ago but I haven’t found anywhere else close to me that compares so I still drive 40 minutes to get my haircut with Ian White.

My first haircut was good. My second haircut was bad. Both times the barber tried to tell me how I wanted my haircut. He had to recut it the second time. Also, charged me more than what a haircut is listed for on the price menu. Not sure why. Just give me the haircut that I want and charge me what youre supposed to charge me, and Ill be happy.

I do not live in the area but wanted a barber shop experience for my son and I. My 6 year old got the best haircut of his life from Ian. I’m in the military so generally get a boring haircut, but Trey made it look good and was by far the most even and clean fade I’ve gotten in years. My hot towel shave left something to be desired with missed spots and higher than average pain...but in Trey’s defense I had too much growth, overly sensitive skin, and an embarrassingly low pain tolerance (still, it felt like a dull blade). I would highly recommend this shop and our barbers and will definitely come back during future trips home to the area.

Update: Literally MINUTES after posting this review I got a call from Brass Tacks. My barber (I dont want to name names that seems rude.) saw my review and called me to apologize and offer a free trim in the future to make it right. I boosted the review a few stars for the great support. When my beard is good for another trim Ill take him up on that offer and see if I can delete this one and post a 5 star review!It was a good atmosphere and very pleasant experience, but then I had an unfortunate discovery when I got to take another look in my car mirror before leaving. My appointment was on 9/6/2018.I went in for a beard trim, after 8-9 months of unchecked growth as an experiment. I would have kept growing but I had to shoot a video for a formal event within a week so it was time for the experiment to end. I didnt know 100% what I was looking for, but I had some thoughts and mainly I wanted to turn all my months of work into something that didnt make me look like the kind of person who grows a beard just for the heck of it without making sure it fit with the rest of their face. Mold the chunk of marble into an amazing statue.Im pretty happy with the much more rounded look of my beard, though its hard to tell because I was so used to what I looked like before. Im less sure about my mustache, which was a pretty walrus-y one that I didnt know what to do with the ends of (hence leaving it up to a professional). Clean up the mustache apparently meant turning it from handlebar style into a straight down uniform short length separated-from-the-top-lip style, with somewhat wispy beard-connecting ends that look okay now but I think might grow out in a funky way compared to the upper lip.So Im not giving this low of a review simply because I dont like the cut.. I was treated nicely despite the lack of communication about changing the style of my mustache (we only established that I wanted to clean everything up and get a more rounded look on the beard) and I’m cool with trying out the style I have now (I can always just keep growing, its not like I have to shave anything off and start from scratch.) My review is so negative because when I left and was checking it out up close in the visor mirror of my car, I realized there was small chunk buzzed down to almost nothing on one side just above the corner of my mouth. My mustache is just asymmetrical enough for it to show up. You cant put hair back on once its off so I dont really know what to do about this except for let it grow. Kind of a bummer end to the experience. Fortunately Ive been asking if people notice it and they have to have it pointed out, but still I feel like a mistake was made on my very anticipated first beard trim.I also didnt know what to do after realizing it was there. Im not a very loud angry person so I wasnt going to go storm back into the place and demand stuff, what was that going to accomplish? My experience seems to be in the minority of what you see here, so your mileage may vary with with Brass Tacks.

Great place worth going there...

Just went yesterday for my second cut. Each time Dallas cut my hair. First time was by chance second time was by choice. Everyone in this funky cool shop is really nice. Definitely worth my 25 minute drive. Not to mention the complimentary local beer on tap makes for a nice spot to get a great cut and just hang out for a bit.

I drive here from Carrollton every two weeks because Brass Tacks is that good. As a customer for over five years, I couldnt imagine finding the same level of service elsewhere.

Ive been getting my haircut and beard trimmed here with Tim for a few months now and I havent looked back. The guy does a spectacular job and his attention to detail shows. The guys here take their work very seriously and spend a lot of effort making sure youre getting exactly what you ask for and leave looking your very best. If you just want a quick basic haircut, this may not be the place for you. But if you want a great haircut and straight razor shave/trim from guys who take pride in what they do, then this is your place. Costs a bit more than your average supercuts type place, but worth every penny. The location is great as well and in the middle of a restaurant and bar district.

Ive seen them grow from their roots in the Bishop Arts district & I dont expect them to stop with the quality haircuts they provide. My 1st appointment with Brass Tacks (admittedly its been a hot minute since I was in the area, but Ill still recommend them based off the good experience) was with their barber, Ian White. He mos def made me look & feel like a boss after he was done with my hair. I also have to mention the shops olde skool vibes, excellent background music, polite/respectful staff, & a complimentary local beer on tap. If you find yourself within the Bishop Arts youd be doing yourself & the community a disservice if you didnt at least visit Brass Tacks.

Quite possibly one of the, if not the best collective of barbers Ive found in Dallas. I had a difficult time finding someone to help me get my beard the way I wanted it until I came brasstacks in bishop arts. Trey is my guy but I would feel comfortable letting Justin or anyone else there clean up my beard.

Abel does a great job cutting my hair. He does exactly what I ask, and I don’t feel like I’m going to get “surprised” when he spins me around to see the mirror. I drive 20-30 minutes to go there, because I don’t trust anyone else to cut my hair.

The gentlemen here have things figured out. Skilled barbers who offer everything in between traditional and modern cuts plus a fantastically relaxed atmosphere makes this a great place to head whenever youre in need of a cut. As you sit there with a beer in hand, you feel as though you could just show up to hang out. If that doesnt bring you back, the quality of the cut sure will.

Dallas Hanley does a masterful cut as do all the barbers at Brass Tacks especially for guys with discerning styles when it comes to hair and esp beards. If you are a beard guy, this is the place to get it trimmed, shaped, styled, or cleaned up!!

Good cut at good price. However, they do not use hot towel, nor hair dryer nor do they wash your hair after cutting. As a result, I had a lot of small, annoying hair pieces on my neck all day...

Had the luck to first encounter Justin for a free cut at the Dallas Bridal Show; Ive now been back multiple times, often with my fiance, to get my hair cut. I wont let anyone else in DFW cut my hair and plan on using Brass Tacks awesome grooms package deal for my wedding. Dont bother looking anywhere else!
