Shepard’s is the oldest continuously running barbershop in Texas and it is simply that: an old fashioned, small town barbershop. Local history is told in pictures on the walls; this isnt some glitzy marketing scheme, it is the real~deal as is Leon, the proprietor. Oh, and the haircuts are great; Ive been going there over twenty (20) years and NEVER had a bad experience! Go for the haircut or go for the ambiance; it’s a step back into 1955.

I have been going to this shop for almost 13 years. I can honestly say that I have never experienced a bad hair cut or shampoo. As a senior citizen Leon cuts my eyebrows, and he takes care of my hair problems. Staff is friendly and they know how to give you a FANTASTIC Haircut or give you a close shave or trim your beard. The best part of all of this Barbers shop service is that the price is affordable. Had my sons haircut. It was shaggy. He did not require a mask which is awesome bc we dont wear them barber was very nice. Cool old building. A little expensive for a boys cut 22 dollars and it was a 40 minute wait

Love the barbers. Theyre quite the talkative type, in a good way, of course! Leon is always happy to see familiar faces (so I suggest you become a repeat customer) and the other barbers are the same. They give outstanding cuts, including good military cuts, (to keep in uniform regs) which the barbers are very familiar with. (a few are veterans themselves.) I highly suggest this barber shop. Best one in Texas.

A very nice old school Barber Shop. The staff are very friendly and love to talk. The haircuts are good, but seems rushed at times. This would be due to the wait on some days. The shop gets very busy almost anytime of the day. If you go, expect to wait up to 30 minutes to an hour for a haircut.

Been going here since about 1982, and I love it. You get a good, old fashioned hair cut and inevitably feel like you are part of the history of Conroe. This is a barber shop, not a styling place. You walk in, sit down, read the paper or talk with others there, and then when it is your turn you still keep on talking. It is not a wham, bam, thank you maam place that most folks go to.

Excellent. Like an Andy Griffith Show time capsule. Expert cutting with vintage and historical feel. The telephone is an old rotary. Elvis got his hair done here, and the barber has been there for 40 years. Skip the store chains and go here.

My husband and son stopped in here this afternoon for the first time; the first text from my husband was this is the kind of place Ive been looking for! He loved the atmosphere.Unfortunately, they both came out of Shepards with their hair completely messed up. My son HAD nice thick hair and they butchered it. My husband was specific and asked that scissors be used on my sons hair - clippers were used. You can see the lines on his head from an uneven cut! They didnt trim around his face or behind his ears at all. My husband was so disappointed with both of their hair cuts that he immediately went to Sport Clips to get them fixed the best they could.Now, my son who typically has a good two inches of hair on his head, is shaved damn near to the skin!!!Thank you Shepards for ruining my son and husbands hair cuts, costing us double for two hair cuts (because they had to go get them fixed) and for costing us 3+ hours of our Saturday. So much for first impressions.

I brought my son for his first hair cut. They were so amazing and made sure to save me a lock of hair and filled a certificate. They took his picture and to frame and put on the wall and compd the charges because it was the first one. The have been in business since 1922 and will have my business for as long as they are open!!

This place is run by racist.within the first five minutes I saw the barber and a customer with a confederate flag biker jacket discuss about there liking for trump.I thought ok they just have unpopular opinions.Then they disscused how there was a Latino politician who wasn’t white and had a fake name since it was in Spanish.Then they bashed the Hispanic community.keep in mind I just walked in and I’m Hispanic at least keep your bigotry behind closed doors.So I walked out of there without being rude since I didn’t want to cause any trouble.+ they were no fades given I just saw a munch of bulky looking hair styles being cut with just barber shop equipment definitely would tell you to stay away if you seem like you wouldn’t fit in and your not a racist person.

Leon Apostolo has been cutting hair for Shepards since 1978, along with Larry its an all around great experience if you like the old timey Barber Shop feel. Prices are reasonable and the service is great. Barber Shops like this are few and far between, we should all support these small businesses and keep Barber Shops like this alive! I highly recommend Shepards Barber Shop. By the way it’s the oldest standing Barber Shop in the State of Texas!
