Dion was, without a doubt, the best hair stylist I have ever had. It was her first day but she was so comfortable and confident, I had zero issues trusting her. She listened and improved upon my idea and my hair turned out amazing! So great, I have another appointment in two weeks for more treatments. I will never go anywhere else or see anyone else. I treated myself to a facial last month with Rikki, and it was perfection! She spent time explaining the products she chose to customize my experience and made recommendations. She was friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel fully pampered!

I scheduled a perm 10 days in advance only to show up and be told by the stylist that she hasnt done a perm in 1.5 years and was not comfortable. This was after she tried to make me feel like it was my fault and that she couldnt see it. Literally spend 5 minutes trying to pick apart my vision for MY HAIR only to find it was because she was ill prepared. Wanted me to reschedule a consultation and then a 3rd appointment to get the perm. Is this the level of service I should expect at Penzone? Im not going to find out because I will never go to this overpriced spa wannabe again.

I had the best experience with the entire staff! Thank you Regan! I decided to try the GelX with a chrome look and they absolutely amazing. She did such a great job. They don’t feel anything like getting acrylic nails which is awesome!

Took 3hrs to get high lights and i could hardly see the difference… $130 for something i could’ve done myself. first time customer. hair dresser was nice but honestly kind of condescending at the beginning and didn’t bother to make conversation. she barely did any highlight and i asked for more at the top and there’s barely any. just over all just a par experience - hair wise i just feel like she barely did anything and it took way too long for so little done.edit: I WENT BACK AND GOT IT REDONE AND ITS 10/10 i’m IN LOVE WITH IT THANK YOU I WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK!!!! i appreciate you guys for being so generous to help me get the look i wanted. i’m in love w my hair every time i look the mirror. I love Charles Penzone. One of my favorite local salons to come in at. Penzone smells amazing the minute you walk in and the staff has always been so friendly and attentive. I also felt really safe during Covid times and how sanitary they kept everything. Love getting my hair done by Jackson Campbell and Parker. Also love how they offer unique and different massages as well. Puts me right to sleep!

I had a wonderful experience! Sage was my stylist and she did everything exactly as I wanted. She colored, cut, and styled my hair right before I got married. When I checked in I was offered beverages. I had complimentary crimson cup coffee. Overall, everything was great and I’m already scheduled to go back!

If you want a relaxing atmosphere to get your hair, nails etc done this is the place! They make each customer feel appreciated and special. They make follow calls to ensure your first experiences are what you expect.

I’ve been told by stylists for years that my hair can be a challenge. It’s really thick and grows in different colors and different places. After the death of my mom I completely stopped taking care of it and felt extremely conscious about going to get it done. Back in August I went and had Sage chop off a good 12+ inches of hair, and she did an amazing job. I came back today to get my hair colored, (something I’ve also been self conscious about) and she completely blew my expectations out of the water. I am SO happy with how it turned out and I actually feel pretty for the first time in forever. I feel like the price was very reasonable and the studio is very clean and comfortable! Can’t wait to go back ☺️

I’ve been getting my hair done at Spotlight with Sarah S. for the past three or four years. I love the way she colours my hair, a beautiful honey blonde colour. As someone who is not well versed in hair, Sarah always helps me figure out what will work best for me and I really appreciate her skill and expertise.

Penzones is not just another nice salon, although it is that. It’s the customer service that is so phenomenal there. Whether in person or on the phone. If you have any questions or issues, they will take care of you, and are pleasant when they do so. Even inside the salon, it’s a very positive, customer oriented salon which is, sadly, rare these days

I dont visit here enough and my stylist probably hates me for it (jk) but hes amazing and the salon is very nice. Very modern, very professional (but not stuffy or unwelcoming). They offer beverages upon arrival: tea, coffee, water, etc. (alcohol too at an additional fee). And I was told that with COVID, theyve installed a super high tech air filtration system. 👍Kudos for Zach transforming my hair every visit after 6 months (to a year with COVID) hiatus 😳. Hes never pushy, salesy, or shaming of how long I go between visits, but I always look to him for recommended products that dont disappoint. I completely trust him with my hair when I dont even trust myself with it 😄

I made the appointment online. The online service price was listed as $142.00 for Balayage, Ombre w/out cut. Adelemarie asked me before the service if I knew how much she charges. I quoted the $142 which she corrected me and said no I start at $270. After I got home and looked online again Its $142 for what I wanted, but $270 for Balayage Ombre with cut and style. Had she corrected me and said I charge $142 for Balayage, Ombre w/ cut or style. Then I would not have let her do the cut or style at the end. The whole thing was a misunderstanding and it made me question myself what I seen online.That being said I asked for Balayage, (blonde) on my brown hair and asked for it to not start at the scalp. At the top of my head where the bangs would be she started at the scalp. and that section did not tone out so its VERY blonde. Almost giving me a grey look.I walked out paying $300 (not including other items I bought) and I am not happy with the way my hair looks especially the front of it. And for the price that I paid. I will not be coming back to Penzone.

I had an appointment after having a weird situation with my previous one. I was informed that the previously confirmed appointment should never have happened, so I scheduled a new appointment at Short North with Joey. The experience was absolutely wonderful, the custom service went above and beyond expectations. Joey, my hair designer, really made me feel confident in my new look, he knew what he was doing and explained the his technique and process, as well as was a great conversationalist. Penzone is worth every dollar, and the hair salon experience has been the best Ive had. I intend to return. Thank you.

I went yesterday for highlights and a haircut. My stylist was Sage and she did an AWESOME job!!! I cant say enough about how happy I am with the outcome. My hair is extremely thick and dry so I also had a special conditioning treatment done that she recommended and it worked wonders for my hair. My hair probably looks better than it ever has in my whole entire life! I cant reccomend this place and Sage enough and I will DEFINITELY be back!!!

I treated my mother-in-law to a haircut and color session. Campbell was her stylist and he was wonderful. Unfortunately, the coloring session did not work out because the goal was to blend her grey but because she has such dark hair and has been using box color it was turning it orange. Campbell did a strand test and saved my mother-in-law from having orange hair! He did a wonderful job with the haircut. He was calm and thorough, extremely pleasant, and knowledgeable. She had a great experience!

Their location in the short north is super clean and well decorated. The snacks/drinks are a really nice touch. They were super accommodating and fit me in for a quick pedicure when I hadn’t made an appointment.One star less for a slightly imperfect pedicure but it was a rush job. Would come again :)

I’ve been going to PENZONE Salon Short North for 5 years now. My stylist Gwen is absolutely top-notch and has always done an amazing job on my hair. The parking situation is so much better now that they’ve moved to the new location and the atmosphere of the salon is chic and relaxing. Coffee, cocktails, snacks make an already great place even better! Can’t say how much I love this place and I recommend it to everyone!

I cannot speak highly enough of Andy at Max the Salon Short North. I went to him for the first time due to a referral from my sister who raved about him. He far exceeded my expectations, which I feel like is rare in the hair world! He took so much time with me making sure he understood exactly what I wanted, while offering up suggestions of his own, without being overly pushy. I have never been to a stylist that cared so much about making me happy, or taking so much time to listen and get it just right. The finished product was perfection, truly better than my hair has ever looked. Another thing to note for those blondes that get highlights, he does it in a way that your roots arent showing in two weeks. Nothing like leaving a salon with fresh highlights and you already have 1/4 inch of root showing. Andy got so close and layered them in a way that I still dont have growth showing and its been 5 1/2 weeks! I am from Columbus but dont live there anymore, we joked that I needed to start flying in every 10 weeks or so just to get my hair done. I would seriously do this, hes that good! The best of the best.

I always have the best experience at the Short North salon with my stylist CeCe! She always makes my hair appointments enjoyable and I always feel so glam on the way out! I can’t recommend her and this salon enough.

Got home and realized my hair, which Ive been trying to grow out, was 1 1/2 inches shorter on the right side than the left. Had to even it up. So much for progress. Wish the stylist had been paying more attention.

Maggie did a fantastic job with my 4 year old son. He has wonderfully thick blond hair. She knows exactly how to shape it so it falls perfectly with layers. He just adores her and feels so special when we visit the salon. We used to have to bribe him with treats to get his hair cut and now he gets excited to visit Maggie as its a treat in itself! I went to Andy for the first time based upon a referral from a friend. It was a great experience. He took time to get an understanding of what I was looking for, while offering a few suggestions. I felt like I walked out with a cut that I really liked.

I went in with the intention of getting my hair cut and highlighted. My stylist took a very long time to highlight my hair.....over 3 hours! My stylist then forgot I wanted to get my hair cut. She took so long the salon was closed and we didn’t have time to cut my hair which was what I was looking forward to. I am very disappointed with my experience since this is supposed to be a nice salon with great customer service.

I went to Kiki for a much-needed haircut and she worked wonders on my hair! She listened to what I wanted and didn’t want and she provided feedback which was helpful!I loved that she was thoughtful and didn’t rush to get me out the door! Everyone was very welcoming and warm in the salon! I’ll definitely be back for more services!

Went to Stephanie for my first hair color experience. Awesome look, i felt like she knew exactly what to do to make me look good based on a few pictures I had shown her. Great job, money well spent. Parking is a bummer but she went out with change and put more in my meter. Customer service was on point. Ill definitely be back.

I love this salon. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. They were very patient when I was deciding to cut my hair short. They took their time to help me decide on a haircut I would really love. It was the best haircut I have ever had - I got so many compliments. Ever since then, it is the only place I go! The prices are fair also.

If you are looking for someone who consistently does an outstanding job with eye brow arches, try Marnie. I’m a mom who doesn’t need the latest fad - just shaping. Fyi, arriving at the Short North location takes a bit of effort but Marnie is so worth it.

I was traveling for work from Boston and in desperate need of a cut, and a friend recommended Penzone. I got a same-day appointment with Andy and was so happy with the whole experience. The salon itself is gorgeous and has lovely amenities, staff were all friendly and welcoming, and Andy was just great. I trusted him right away but he still took the time to get to know me, asked lots of questions, and checked in throughout the process. I walked out loving the style, and now that Ive washed and styled it myself, I love it even more. He did a great job! Im already mapping out how Ill find myself in Columbus around the time Im due for another haircut.

This was my first experience at the Short North location and I have mixed feelings about it.I scheduled a 90 minute massage as I had just completed a year long, high stress project and needed some quality relaxation time. Having never been to the short north location, I parked in the garage, and used the self check in but was unsure what to do from that point. The screed said to wait and relax but there were no seats or waiting area where I checked in. There was then some confusion between my therapist and another employee about whether or not I had checked in and was there and I could overhear them talking about if I was there or not, but nobody ever came to talk to me or look for me.Finally they realized I was there and waiting and my therapist came for me. She had a leg injury and was using one of those rolling carts, and I totally understand injuries happen but the rolling certainly affected the overall experience. While the pressure and cadence of the massage was great, my therapist had to roll around the table and back and forth to the counter which was a bit distracting and loud. She was also very transactional before and after the massage and didn’t ask for any of my personal needs aside from where did I was her to focus.Once the massage was over, she walked me out of the room and suggested I drink water, though not having been at the spa before I had no idea if or where water was located.All this to say, I didn’t have a bad experience at this location, but it certainly wasn’t the best and didn’t leave me excited to return.

The shop is beautiful and I have gotten the best haircuts of my life here. I have a worn my hair as a pixie-which people cut wrong a alot. Not at Penzones Short North! Im growing my hair out from a pixie-which is rough and I get compliments anyway! Joey has made the transition way better!

The salon is gorgeous!! I made an appointment to have makeup done for a huge event I was going to. Scheduling on the app was easy and the girl at the front desk was super sweet and took time to show me around while I waited! But then I meet my makeup artist and she is cold, non conversational, rushed and kindda made me seem like I didn’t belong there (which sucked because I was already nervous about going in the first place). Her work wasn’t worth the money or the $20 tip she got. And I can’t lie, it was the first time I left a salon with lower confidence than before I arrived. My heart won’t let me mention her name because a) I hate pointing people out directly and b) i don’t think she ever even introduced herself for me to know it, but hopefully she takes a lesson in customer service because she made me look/feel like a waste of her time.

Gwen is the BEST! I go in with no idea what I want and every time I leave, my hair looks better than I could have imagined! As an added bonus, shes so sweet and fun to talk to. I wont let anyone else do my hair!!

I scheduled an express pedicure on a whim yesterday. I’ve never been to this location (and have only been to a Penzone once actually). I personally found the self check-out to be quick, easy and convenient (This was around 3 on a Saturday so it wasn’t busy at all). The salon is really lovely inside (as other reviewers have said). There’s also a bar with cocktails and mocktails, wine, and all kinds of coffee drinks. Georgia did my pedicure and she was super sweet and did a great job. The other staff were friendly as well. I’m so glad i had the opportunity to experience Penzone SN because now I can’t wait to go back.

Because of the time of my appointment, only the receptionist and my stylist were still in the salon. The atmosphere is very cool and fits perfectly into the Short North. Andy was fantastic! I was SO nervous to chop off all my hair for donation, and he not only eased my worries but left me with a killer haircut. He took his time with me even though he had to stay past closing time and listened to everything I asked for when describing the look I wanted. Andy clearly has a lot of experience and takes pride in his work. I had seen a promotion for haircuts with donations to Wigs for Kids on the website, but did not recieve it at checkout; The salon later reached out to me and resolved the issue!

I am posting this because I am not sure how to go about resolving this matter, I have had a terrible experience with the penzone salons once when I was 17 and twice again at 55, all I wanted was to get my hair colored weaving whatever they call it no problem the first time, 2nd time one third or more of my hair fell out, I then received a few treatments to repair the damage to no real avail you cant really repair hair that isnt there anymore, once the stylist decided that it was time to color it again I spent 6hours and 39 minutes being more disappointed than before, my hair was so full of products that it was and still is stiff and thick as if nothing was washed out of it and I was asked to sign a form before this process was performed I declined and I can say I am very glad that I did, my hair smells like patchouli why I dont know, I have so many different colors in my hair now I am just overwhelmed by the entire experience, you decide to do something for yourself as a woman and put your faith in a so called top of the line salon and end up with something like this its hard to believe, I was paraded around like some science project while my stylist asked other coworkers what she should do, complaining about the lighting in her station and it being better in other places in the salon, I was actually embarrassed, not feeling very good about the whole thing Maybe after this post I will finally get to talk to the Real Boss.
