Filled out an application after being very impressed with the facility and the amenities offered for the price point - they took a security deposit to reserve an apartment for me, but only after that application had completed and that deposit was no longer refundable did they decide to mention that an exorbitant insurance policy is required which effectively put me beyond my budget for the apartment.Their deposits are non-refundable after 3 days, which is conveniently (for them) a shorter time period than the application actually took to process. Be aware of that before you decide to apply here. If you change your mind theres a very good chance you wont get that supposedly refundable deposit back.

Ive been living here for about a month and a half. The staff have been 100% helpful and friendly, and everything about the rental process was smooth and reasonable. The location is great, easy access to grocery stores, the bike trail, some cool restaurants and breweries, all at a price that is very reasonable, given the state of Clintonville rentals right now.

Do not rent from here! The leasing office is less than helpful. The apartments are EXTREMELY outdated with no AC or climate control. The 3 washers and dryers that you share with your 100 closest neighbors never work. I would have left earlier and subleased but I didn’t want to trick someone else into living here!

I don’t even want to give this 1star, however, I had to in order to post a review. DON’T give this place any money while you are applying. Specifically $500 to “hold” an apartment. If you are denied - they will KEEP your money and not return it. What kind of business practice is this? During a pandemic, do you think people have that kind of money to just throw around? Despicable practice. Shameful.

Not a very good place to live. I’ve lived here for a few years now and am finally glad to leave. They are trying to raise rent over 30% without updating anything in the apartments. Which badly need updated. When you first move in it’s gonna be months of people in your apartment “fixing things” also the package room is very disorganized most days along with just the staff in general. Great place to live for about a year but I would suggest looking elsewhere. Their nice at first but after you sign they could care less. This place has real potential if they actually put some money in and the staff cared. Also elevator is super sketchy so many people have gotten trapped in it for hours.

Wow I’ve lived here for two years and this place needs more reviews! I really love OV! My apartment is super cute and charming. It is old but that’s part of the charm! The wall and ceiling are cracked but it doesn’t bother me. The kitchen is small but I made it work. The neighborhood is really nice and I love the location. The neighbors are nice, the pool is nice, there is usually parking right in front on your building. Sometimes I can hear my neighbors but it’s never too bad, I definitely can’t hear conversations unless my neighbors are fighting lol. Honestly it’s great, really only docking a star because it is so old and I wish I had at least 1 more amenity in my apartment such as a washer and dryer or central air just to make the living situation more convenient. Also there’s a lot of stairs. It doesn’t bother me but I live on the third floor, which I love, but my guests don’t lol

I have been a resident for almost 20 years at Olentangy Village Apartments and I have never regretted moving here. I love the large trees and the spacious green yards between the old style brick buildings. The comfortable and affordable apartments are ideally located. The Olentangy River bike path, several local parks, many restaurants and bars, and the COTA bus line are all within easy walking distance. Finally, I think the office and maintenance team do a fine job taking care of the public spaces and residents. Check it out.

As a student at OSU and a mom, we needed a place close to everything without too much traffic. We found Olentangy Village Apartments a little over a year ago, and it has exceeded our expectations. There is a great bike trail that me and my seven year old have used for walking often. The pool is very well kept. The staff is attentive and responsive, Giant Eagle is our neighbor, and there are many open spaces for my son to practice, soccer. Inside our apartment we have hosted many birthday parties, and get togethers and our family and friends give Olentangy Village great feedback as well.

Olentangy village is a nice complex with old buildings that have an appealing aesthetic, the pool is also pretty nice and clean. The office staff is ok. The trails around the complex are nice if you like running or walking outside, and there are some pretty good bars and restaurants near by. Thats about where the positive ends. It is so over priced for what you are getting, you are paying the high street tax. The units are disgusting, old nasty hardwood floors, no a/c, the sound carries through your whole floor. I would walk in and hear people talking 3 floors up and they werent even being loud, which makes it very easy to get noise complaints. The gym is extremely small. Lead paint is behind the dozens of other coats of paint they put over it to cover it up but it still cracks. Maintenance is a joke, the door to our building which has a key pad for security broke its hinge after the wind pulled it off, it wouldnt lock anymore, causing a security concern now allowing anyone to walk in the building, we called and they said it wasnt an issue and would get to it when they could and we had to call back 3 times and it took over a week to fix it. The parking situation is horrible, no assigned parking and its always filled making you park far away from you unit. Police helicopters hovering all the time. Shared laundry rooms are always filled and the credit swipe on the machine didnt work 90% of the time, and there was no where to get change for bills there either and it cost you over 3 dollars for one load of laundry and they were very small machines. Overall i wouldnt recommend moving in, too many negatives.

Update: I have lived here 9 months. Overall, it has been a good experience. The location is convenient, and the staff are really great. I have had especially positive interactions with the friendly front office staff, the earnest package porter, and the responsive maintenance team. Even with the pandemic, OV has tried to keep community spirit alive with regular food truck options, outdoor (socially-distanced) movies, and by keeping the pool open over the summer (with limited capacity last year). One thing I found surprising was how early they ask you to renew your lease for the next year (I was asked to renew in January for my lease ending in August). It would be nice to have a recycling location at the River/Ravine complex. Overall, I feel I made a good choice with Olentangy Village, and I would recommend this complex to friends.***I moved into Olentangy Village apartments this weekend, so I cannot yet speak about the complex as a residence. However - if my experience prior to my move-in is any indication - I am confident it will be a great place to live. Morgan M was my leasing contact, and she has been incredibly helpful & responsive as I prepared to move. She answered all my questions answered, and she responded to emails in less than a day. She put me at ease, and gave me confidence that moving here would be a good choice. Thanks, Morgan!

I have stayed here for almost 2 years and up until a week ago things were great minus the occasional issues with cockroaches. I came back from a 2 week vacation and there were mice droppings everywhere. I didn’t have any food left out in my apartment, but the mice decided to chew open ketchup packets and do their business everywhere. The only reason why I think they even deserve one star is because of the professionalism of Josh, most of the management team, and the maintenance staff. The building manager Brenna, however does not deserve a single star. She said that there were probably be a max of 2 mice in my apartment. She was wrong because I’ve already found twice her incorrect prediction. Whether it’s 2 mice or 1 they should not be there. Management/Maintenece was fast in setting all the traps, but I was promised that pest control would come within that week. They did not show up. I’m glad the staff were able to set traps, but professionals need to be called to stop them from getting in and trap the ones that are still in the building.. I have severe asthma and explained to Brenna that I cannot be around mice urine and droppings, but I received what I felt was a lukewarm response. Hopefully this review causes some changes and makes them care about fixing this situation.Edit: After posting this review management asked me to take down this review due to it being too accurate for their liking. I was told that it was not “cost effective” for pest control to be called. It is apparent that they care more about saving money than the well-being of an asthmatic in jeopardy due to mouse droppings everywhere. I was also told that it could have been worse because other places could have waited till the last minute to address this. As if I should give them a pat on the back for attempting being a decent Human.

Update after moving out: I owe OV team a big shout out for their efforts to make things better. Leasing office team went the extra mile to help facilitate our sublease as I just got a new job offer about a year ago during the first wave of COVID.(Updated in response to Management team) First of all, I should acknowledge the fact that their staff are very friendly and super nice to work with. We have had great experience communicating with them. Always able to call them on any issues that need to be clarified. Our move-in timing was quite awkward but they still managed to accommodate to our schedule. Havent moved out yet so might not have a chance to experience the move out part of the potential drama. The 2 major negative aspects:1. Maintenance: super frequent indoor visit with very short notice. they are trying to do their best, which I fully appreciate. However, a lot of those visits seem quite unnecessary. And when it comes to things we do need to have serviced, it rarely turn into reality. We have a potentially leaking bathroom wall that has been reported twice in the past 2 months, still no scheduled visit on that yet.As I mentioned, the services we called for were fulfilled in a timely manner. What bothers me (and apparently other people who posted here) is the frequent visits for insect-treatment, filter change, fire inspection, and so on. And with very short notice (usually on the verge of the promised at least 24 hr).2. Package room: theres no package room in each building; all packages (yes including the bulky ones) will need to be delivered to the gym first. Amazon Prime Pantry Biblethump Pepepls. Package pickup is from early in the morning to 8pm. May be less troublesome for residents in the main village (grab it on your way to work), but it surely is a pain for those living in the River/Raven.Thanks for the clarification! I understand why it was arranged in this way now. Still it is inconvenient. We try our best not to order things online.

Very happy with my time here! live in the classic village which means the old-fashioned and not updated ones. I dont have a dishwasher or washer/dryer which is not preferable and sometimes the temperature is a bit hard to control, but otherwise I have no real complaints.I can count on one hand the amount of times Ive seen ANY kind of bug in my two years here, and Ive never seen a cockroach at all. The location is absolutely ideal; I love being able to walk to the bike trail or any of the bars and restaurants nearby easily. Ive never had trouble with maintenance, they are usually prompt and very polite and professional to work with. The location and charm are top priorities for me so the less fun aspects (i.e. no modern amenities) arent as big of a deal for me. Its a trade-off though, and you should go in with the knowledge that these apartments are old and they have their issues. You may feel you pay too much money for what you get, but I think for me its worth it because of location. I feel like I live in the middle of a forest, yet Im right off High St. and like 10 minutes from campus. This is a very unique property and you should at least tour it to see for yourself!!

They were supposed to redo our kitchen about 6 months before it actually happened (about 3 months before we moved out). Also my car got towed once for street cleaning or something without me being notified. Decent place, quiet, but not a great experience living there as an OSU student personally. Let me just say that I’ve never lived in another and apartment before this so I do not have anything to compare it to. I have visited my boyfriend many times in the Columbus area and he lived in two different apartments prior to us living here. They were god awful and he was paying twice as much. To say the least, I’m happy that we are only paying 800 a month and our apartment is well maintained. Listen guys, this is no 5 star apartment complex and you’re not going to can an awesome dish washer okay. I’m giving it 5 stars because it is an all around decent place to live. I am a very picky person and I never thought an apartment would make me even the slightest happy. Maintenance is always timely and they are very friendly. Haven’t seen many bugs (only lady bugs if I do). Office is friendly and helpful. They have a cute little gym and even a laundry mat a couple doors down. They have a package center where you can have packages sent if ordering online. The bus system runs right in front of the apartments. Seems like a generally safe area. I don’t have many complaints. But I feel people would be upset about parking. It gets pretty packed late at night and you may need to walk a bit to get to your apt, but you’ll always have a spot. It sucks sometimes, but if you upgrade to a more expensive apt you may have a garage. Also, the classic village apartments... it is an old building and walls seem to be thin. But I get used to noises, so doesn’t bother me much. Overall, if you are looking for a decent place, especially if attending OSU, give it a go. I truly think people only come on here to write bad reviews. Nobody ever goes out of their way to write a good one.

I absolutely LOVED living at Olentangy Village. I live in one of the village apartments and I never get used to coming home to such a beautiful apartment filled with loads of character and being close to such a beautiful nature preserve/the walking trails of the Olentangy River. Obviously there are both pros and cons to living here and in an older apartment so Ill list them below.Pros:1. Super close to Ohio State and the Cota Bus Line2. The radiators paired with the concrete walls do a great job at keeping me warm in the cold Ohio winters3. Great, respectful community. Mostly filled with young professionals or grad students like myself so Ive never had to deal with terrible neighbors. Ive actually been lucky enough to make a couple new friends!4. Maintenance is VERY responsive. Ive only had a couple little problems (slow drain, radiators, etc.) but they always respond within 24 hours. Shane was especially great and professional when he came to unclog my tub!5. Ive already mentioned this but CHARM CHARM CHARM6. Reasonable rent and utilities7. Responsive/great managementCons:1. As stated in other reviews, parking is pretty tight but its not too terrible. Ive never had to park more than a minute walk from my apartment tops (its usually more like 30 seconds)2. Although the radiators do work great, with me living on the top floor, sometimes the water would get stuck and they wouldnt be working properly. All I had to do was call maintenance though and they would drain them within the next 24 hours, so also not a big deal to me. Also, I think theyre replacing the radiators so this might not be an issue in the future3. There are a number of 24 hour advance notice entries throughout the year for pest control, paint observations, radiator draining, etc. I dont think its unreasonable due to the situation but it was a lot more than I wouldve expected. As mentioned before, maintenance was always professional and respectful when they did have to come in though!UPDATE4. As other reviewers have mentioned, they can be a little stingy with giving the deposit back. Ive always cleaned every home Ive lived in fairly well and have received back my full deposit because of it, but I feel like I got way too much taken away for both petty things and aspects of the home that I could not change. That being said, I expected this to happen so Im not devastated. Just fair warning if youre a person who really values your security deposit!

Was repeatedly told it would work out so I put down several hundred in application fees and security deposit. Several months pass and by early Feb they said I might have to wait until 2nd week of March to find out when I could move in, which didnt work for my current lease situation. Couldnt wait any longer so I found another place. They then get back to me Feb 15th with a move in date 3 days after my current lease ends, with an apartment in a complex I was not interested in. Every penny of my security deposit became nonrefundable since I was assigned an apartment. Dont apply here unless youre sure you want to live here well in advance, and youre willing to roll the dice on which complex youre assigned.

The location to the river and the olentangy bike trail make this community perfect for those who like to get out and see everything Columbus has to offer. The friends I have that live here have told me that for the price it is really a good deal. Of course Ive seen some poor reviews but I feel like no one will take time out of their day to post something positive but plenty of people will take time if theyre angry. These people are shady. my friend and i lived there for two years and had nothing but problems. they were accommodating at first: our apartment wasnt ready by the time we were supposed to move in, so they upgraded us to a larger size with a bay window for no extra charge that year. they told us we were allowed to have ferrets (cats are the only pets you pay a deposit for!) and that one of the owners just loves ferrets.our front door never shut all the way, and it took 5 maintenance attempts to fix it for them to just give up. maintenance workers would enter without knocking even though we always signed the request slips saying that we had to be present and allow them to enter. workers who were cleaning up apartments in the same building after tenants left would smoke indoors and play loud music all day.within three months of living there, we got a nasty letter explaining that we would be evicted for not registering our pet ferrets and that we had to backpay the months of pet rent wed avoided. only cats, eh? weird how that changed so fast. when another tenant had a problem with a cat peeing in their apartment, the owners endlessly harassed us about being the source of the smell, despite 3 inspections of our apartment where they could clearly see it wasnt our pets causing the problem. never mind that ferrets dont produce cat pee.when we moved out, they claimed that we didnt prime the walls (we painted two heavy coats in every room), didnt clean, and didnt return our parking passes. they kept almost all of our security deposit. they blamed old chips in their ancient hardwood floors on us, rust under the sinks... took those out of the deposit, too. this was our first apartment and we didnt know to take pictures of the apartment before moving in to prove that the problems had existed before we moved in.

IF YOU HAVE A CAR, DONT EVEN BOTHER.I cannot stress this enough. If you have a car, dont live here. You wont find a parking spot anywhere near your building if you come home after 6pm. It wouldnt be so bad if they actually had other lots to park in, but they dont. They dont want to sacrifice the Green space to actually accommodate the promises they make to you. What is a courtesy patrol? Ive never seen one. They apparently tag cars for removal. Never seen it happen.I cant even count on two hands the amount of times that Ive had to park IN THE GRASS behind my building because there was literally nowhere else to park. Ive complained multiple times to the office and the best they could do was offer a garage at a discounted price of $60 extra a month and not raise my rent for the next year. L.O.L. When I asked the lady in the office once about them assigning parking spots to each apartment, she straight up told me that there isnt enough parking for everyone in the complex to have a spot. How can you have an apartment complex and not have enough parking spots for all of your apartments? The lighting around the complex is also a joke. So you definitely dont want to park far away and have to walk. Im scared walking from my car, up the sidewalk and into the building sometimes.I can definitely see why a lot of people choose to live here due to its close proximity to campus, but it honestly isnt worth the price. I can find a newer apartment about a mile farther from campus for less that has a washer/dryer in unit, dishwasher, an actual kitchen sink, not ghetto cabinets and roaches, central A/C, more space AND A DAMN PARKING SPOT.Do yourself a favor, do some more research and live somewhere else.

I have lived here for 2 years this month and cant imagine renting an apartment anywhere else. OV is the most conveniently awesome apartment complex that I have ever found. The management staff has been helpful and I have had no issue with maintenance so far. Generally my maintenance issues are taken care of within 2 days of me calling in and all of the staff have been professional This is a huge relief as my experiences with previous landlords have been sub par to say the least. Also, the grounds here are absolutely beautiful. There must be over 1000 larger trees on the property (which is amazing in an urban inner-city neighborhood) as well as countless outdoor areas and large courtyards. There is access to a pool, fitness center, picnic area, large outdoor terrace and the Olentangy Bike trail which if you have never been on it is a 12 mile stretch along the Olentangy River. On top of all of that there is a grocery store, gas station and Valvoline on the property as well as quite a few restaurants. I literally do not have to leave the property for any major necessity and that to me is priceless. Clintonville is an amazing neighborhood and OV, from what I hear from friends, is a staple of the area. There are always a couple of bumps with any large complex like OV, but weve never had anything that hasnt been fixed within a few days. The entrance to the Olentangy Trail makes getting to OSU campus a breeze, and their are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby to keep you entertained without having to drive.
