I had a super amazing experience with Myers Real Estate!Being a novice owner in managing a commercial property, my dad years ago, recommended them to me and am so happy he did!Garry Taylor was my property manager with whom I have great respect for. He was very patient, professional, kind and always 100% available to me whenever I had a concern/issue and advised me with his years of knowledge and experience. I will miss him! When I was ready to FINALLY sell the property, Hunter Ratcliff was absolutely a God send!! She is very professional and competent in the realty business. I admire her enthusiasm, genuine kindness and eagerness to execute any complications/issues that came our way ! Hunter made sure that the process of selling went smoothly for me and was VERY patient, empathetic and understanding with all of my questions. Thank you, Hunter!!!The office staff, specifically Whitney, who I dealt with most of the time, was very patient, competent and responded quickly to all my inquiries! Every time I had to go physically into Myers, everyone was welcoming and friendly.I would definitely recommend Myers Real Estate to anyone needing assistance . A total 5 STARS *****
Note - This review is for Meyers’ HOA management, not their rental side.I wouldn’t normally bother with a review like this but Meyers has been repeatedly pushing for reviews through texts and emails (and only the positive responses are sent to this review page). This is a very organized and efficient company in regards to billing, collecting quarterly dues and cashing your checks. Neighborhood management, however, is an entirely different story. Little to no enforcement of neighborhood guidelines, and seemingly zero follow-through on actual HOA policies. As a resident who wants to keep his neighborhood looking decent and property values up, this has been an ineffective organization to work with.Pleasant staff, just hoping reviews like this get the point across that HOA management is about more than collecting checks.
Ive rented from Myers for over 7 years now and have always had prompt responses to any issues Ive had. Their maintenence people are courteous and professional. Ive also dealt with Gary and Rachel in the office and those experiences have been good as well. The property is maintained (grass, trash, etc.), I receive reminders about changing furnace filters (and suggestions on how to keep pipes from freezing), no issues with neighbors and the location is excellent. Id definitely recommend Myers to family and friends.
They manage the the HOA in the neighborhood I live in. The fees they charge are absurd. They dont respond well to criticism and choose to US mail letters when they could email people when things need addressed.I rated 1 star, but a year ago I would have given 0, so they are improving.
Myers Realty does a wonderful job managing my properties. They treat everyone with respect. I would recommend them to everyone.
My girlfriend and I needed an apartment in the Grandview area. We spent a lot of time shopping around and I have to say that we are so glad we went with Myers. We love our apartment! There were several things that needed done when we moved in so we were concerned, but they have attended to all of our requests and we really appreciate it. They changed our locks, put in new screen doors, and even did a professional mold testing for us. Affordable rent and professional staff. Definitely recommend.
I enjoy working with Myers Realty. With their rich history in Columbus, I can tell they are leaders in the property management industry. Myers Realty puts their tenants and renters first every time.
Excellent customer service. Excellent representation. Excellent individual dedication. They go above and beyond and Id recommend them to anyone.
I love that they listen and respond, with the intent to listen and respond. Hunter is extremely helpful and compassionate and has gone above and beyond throughout my time here.
Amazing family-owned business for HOA and property management. Very responsive, professional and have an extremely convenient online management software for tenants and owners!
They manage the the HOA in the neighborhood I live. There are two associations paid annually when I moved in. I quit getting invoices on the one managed by Myers in my name so I thought the two merged. We did get mail for another individual, Ji Lu, but we kept returning it to sender. Long story short, they sent my information to an attorney, put a lien on my home, and wanted previous years fees and attorney fees. After researching the closing paperwork, I just decided to pay, get the house ready for the market, and move. My complaint is not paying the fees, it is the bookkeeping error that I cannot accept.
We are pleased of all the service we get in case we ask for maintenance and flexible and understanding when we need some thing.
This is a great client to work with! Always professional.
You have addressed any of my concerns in a timely manner and been kind in the process.
Been dealing with them 4 or 5 years. Never had any problems or issues
Been with this rental company for 13 yrs now. Great house that I rent just in the wrong neighborhood. I wish they would listen more to their tenants when it comes to repairs.
A very caring and responsive company.
You report to Myers and nothing gets done. It’s difficult to reach your representative.
They are the rental company that I use. They had a nice affordable house that we live at currently. Thanks Myers real estate!
Rude and incompetent office staff. Not the best way to retain current or future accounts.
Some of these reviews are unbelievable...We recently rented a property managed by Myers Real Estate for two years until we purchased our house on the far east side. The staff were all courteous, professional, and friendly, they answered any questions we had, they were flexible with arranging our move in date, had a meeting set up with us for the signing of the lease and key acceptance, had convenient ways for making the monthly payments online, or for turning things like a lease renewal in via fax or email; and I never had any problems with getting things that need attention or repaired in my townhouse. Myers would usually always have someone out for the service needed within 24 hours at the latest. The contractors whom they sent were always experienced and professional as well. This company is a family-owned establishment and it is very reputable. They offer everything in their office that could be needed regarding buying, selling, and leasing residential and commercial properties (as well as managing properties throughout the city and its vicinity for about half of a century or more). They are genuine and strive to satisfy their clients and the company is always evolving. I’d definitely rent or purchase from them again if need be and would recommend them to anyone needing their assistance.
Myers real estate has a great team most notably Hunter Ratcliff who went out of her way to help meet my timeline and budget. Highly recommended.
They gave someone my key and let them walk right into my apartment while I was sleeping
My daughter rented through them and moved out due to their inability to respond to maintenance concerns, mold, broken stove lid, and other reported issues. Her deposit was taken to cover their mistakes. They claimed she broke blinds, that were illegally used and should have been replaced months ago. Her children could have been harmed. Now they are charging her to pay for their lack of landlord responsibility.
The miscommunication between all of their office members are enough for me to never rent anything through their company again nor recommend them to anyone.First of all, my fridge went out. I contacted them that it was making a loud sound on a Tuesday, they informed me that they would send someone out. By Thursday no one had been out and my fridge had now completely shut off, I contacted them and they said they would send someone out. That someone did not arrive until the following Tuesday. At which all my food had gone bad. I then contacted Myers Real estate to refund me my groceries and they advised me that they would not do that.Second, the ceiling leaked severely all over the clothes in my closet, at which i had throw out my Pea-coat because it was severely damaged and disgusting from the mildew ceiling water. They did not send someone out to fix this roof until over a week later and after the ceiling was repaired they never came to repair the patching in the dry wall that was completely damaged with water... eventually this is going to turn to mold.Third, on the first of the month of the same month i was moving out, they did not update the portal to my pro-rated rent making me have to reach out to them about this issue. They then emailed me what the pro-rated rent would be and that they will fix the portal. Then a week later I receive a Delinquent Notice saying that I owed another $755 of rent and if not paid in 3 days I will be sent to collections. I then contact them again and they apologized for the miscommunication and that notice was sent out automatically if the account still shows a balance. When it shouldnt show a balance if they did their job and changed it to the pro-rated amount in the first place.Forth, a month after my move out, I still hadnt received my deposit back in the mail. I reached out and they said it has been sent out to my old address when i lived at their property.... hmm that doesnt seem right. Considering I dont live there anymore and considering they required me to send in a 60 day notice with my forwarding address so that they may send my deposit to the new address. They then fixed it and I received my check a week later.Fifth, I received my deposit and I am reading over it and it states that a fee of over 100 dollars was taken out for a plus rent owed. Interesting as I paid all of my rent in full at the time it was owed each month. So I reach out AGAIN and they said that it was because I turned in my keys three days late so I was charged for each day they were late. I then I advised that I asked if it would be ok to turn in my keys that 3 days late because covid happened and my sister was being quarantined away from me as she was previously traveling and I have respiratory issues and the soonest someone could bring me her keys was that following friday which as only 3 days later. I was told this was acceptable and I would not be charged. Welll.... miscommunication strikes again and I was charged over 100 dollars just for 3 days of not turning in my keys. Not to mention... i actually moved out 2 weeks early into my new apartment and out of their property because I did not want to deal with that place any longer. But they still claim that I was in the apartment for 3 more days hence the charge?? VERY POOR COMMUNICATION AND VERY POOR TREATMENT TO RESPONSIBLE TENANTS.
Im the Board President at White Oak Park Condos in Canal Winchester. Myers Real Estate is our property management. Our manager is Kimberly Wolford. Have worked with her for the last two years. She is a hard and dedicated worker. Kimberly has a very good work ethic and easy to get along with. She is there 100% to help with any problems that arise. If she doesnt know she always finds out the same day and if not by the second day. Our board has nothing but respect for her. I would recommend her for any community to work with.
Ive been renting through Myers for over a year now and it has been such a pleasant experience. Any and all maintenance requests are handled in a very timely manner, they are understanding and patient with their tenants, and the customer service is outstanding. Especially Traci! She is always willing to work with us. Ive had a couple of situations in which roommates who are on the lease have had to move out and Traci is friendly and efficient in helping us with those processes. Myers is a professional, courteous and friendly group of people and I would always recommend them to anyone. As a young single woman on her own, I appreciate how accommodating Myers has been with making sure my roommates and I are safe and comfortable in our house. This is a top notch company and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to rent or buy.
Been with them for 2 years now and they have never let me down Rachel is number one in that office she treats her customers well laughs and smiles when I come in knows my voice when I call the personalization is everything !!! Andy is amazing and understanding and he always comes through with his word !!!!
*This is an update to my last post a year ago. I am sure I can say with 90% certainty that this year has been rough on us all in one way or another. I just renewed our lease going on three years, with this fantastic company and was thinking how blessed my son and I are to still be here. I began contemplating, all the things of which I to be grateful. I began thinking about our apartment, the management and staff, all of which are and have been, if I am being honest, fantastic. One thing I am very grateful for is my late fee- its one flat fee! Now, I dont know about you, but I have had my share of being late (and not for shirking responsibilties but circumstances) and a flat fee beats one that keeps accumulating any day! Also, they give you six extra days BEFORE youre late! Most places you have until the 3rd or MAYBE the 5th. Those two things are pretty big in my book! So, I thought why not share this and write another review. I read a couple of recent reviews, in particular one about the property and things being fixed. Weve been here going on three years and have had to make six maintenance calls with each getting a prompt response, and not one call contained scolding or an additional charged !! Also, the calls were because something got broken accidentally ( I hate to say it but Ive come to the realization, my son is accident prone- he is a lot stronger than he realizes). Just saying. Hope this helps! Stay safe!**Heads Up*** this is an EXTREMELY long review but it is worth itI currently rent from Myers and have for almost two years. My child and I love our apartment and the price is exceptional for the area in which we live and the apartment itself. I recently had a close family loss and some financial issues (a by product of the loss- delayed grief, anxiety, etc) which put me behind in my rent.Well, first off, when I called and spoke to the staff: Hunter, Brandy, Whitney and Rachel to name a few, were EXTREMELY COMPASSIONATE, HELPFUL AND KIND when I spoke with them!! The property manager, Gary, was willing to work with me to allow me to get caught up. I have to say, by Gods grace and mercy I was able to receive this favor and grace!!! I do not know ANY apartment company who will go through the lengths this company did to help me!!Lets be real, if this had happened anywhere else the only concern would have been the money!!! If the money was not there after the first month, if they would have even waited that long, there would have been a get out notice given to me. The majority of property managers are really only able to collect rent and issue notices and most companies are about the money. Side note- I am pretty optimistic and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but I try to be realistic as well. Also, anytime I had an issue previously, they were Johnny on the spot to fix it- mostly just small plumbing concerns. I have honestly not had any REAL issues outside of my current but quickly resolving financial woes (such is life). They keep the grass cut and trees trimmed in the summer, there are no broken lamps in the courtyard, we get tips via email on how to keep our pipes from freezing and reminders to check our furnace and such. And any other type of updates regarding the bldg. Oh, and we also got new dual carbon dioxide/smoke detectors installed.Bottom line, if I am being honest and true I can say nothing but good things about Myers and the people who work there!!! Lets keep in mind, no one has to do anything, good or bad. During my difficult period Myers, could have easily said, sorry for your loss but you have x,y and z to have the money or you need to go!! Their kindness, help and compassion was huge for me, and still is, during this difficult time! if you are blessed to live long enough, sometimes life can be tough (and the people in it even more)and when you run across kindness and compassion- not a lecture or finger wagging- you are grateful and humbled by it!!!If you are thinking about moving here- I really dont think you will regret it!!
I have lived in a 1 bedroom rental property in Grandview from Myers for about 7 years now, and have really enjoyed it. I have only had a few issues over the course of my time here, and each one was addressed very quickly, and any time there was an issue or question, the staff was very polite and responsive about the situation. The location of this property is also very convenient and withing walking distance of almost anything that is needed, and the location is well kept overall. I had to move due to re-location for work, but would certainly recommend the location to anyone interested.
I own investment real estate properties and have hired Meyers Real Estate to manage them. They are excellent to work with. I fired another local firm last year due to slow pay and poor record keeping. I was referred to Meyers by someone I know, like and trust and am thrilled about on-time payments and not hearing excuses why things arent getting done. The front office staff is great to work with and always have a smile on their faces. I have referred them to other investors as a quality choice of service providers. Special shout out to Gerry Taylor, Tess Baker and Laura King
Great, family owned and operated real estate business. Myers Real Estate has helped us buy a condo, sell the condo and then buy a house! Very easy to work with, fantastic results.
I reported damage that had been done to my property and less than 2 hours later I received a call from Kim who made immediate arrangements to have that damage inspected and repaired. I have never been disappointed with the level of attention and correction to any issues, rare as they are, that MRE has provided!
Kimberly is very helpful. I have enjoyed working with her the past 2 years!
Great company, professional and pleasant. Great area and home. Timely pre rental procedure. Convenient to everything downtown and amazing schools. Older character duplex in great condition.
Very Professional & Talented Company. Every employee goes above and beyond to ensure the best possible service. We have been clients with Myers Real Estate for many years and are 100% pleased and satisfied.
I wish I could give 0 star. The employees there are extremely rude and irresponsible. I rent a townhouse from them last year. The contract was 1-year but due to work I had to move before that. I tried to negotiate with them to seek a solution to the situation but they did not care to talk about it. Finally they agreed to advertise on websites but the ads were not there even after I called a couple of times. I had to show up in the office to confront with the employees to make sure they put on ads on websites.During the time I lived in the house, the maintenance was pretty bad. Honestly it is the worst maintenance Ive ever known of. At least two calls every time when something needs a repair. The bath tub had a draining issue which I had reported a hundred of times but it was not resolved until the day I moved out. The employee at Myers always said they would send the maintenance person over but I seriously doubt if they had indeed done it.I was happy when I finally moved out, but then I did not receive my deposit. I called they told me they had sent a check out over a week ago. When I confirmed that I had not got it the employee (Traci to be specific) simply told me to contact the post office, and then could not wait to hang up the phone.Dont rent from them. They simply do not care a hair for anything besides your money.
Been trying to rent the house on the corner of my street since early March from this company, I have called multiple times and left multiple messages and to my surprise no return calls and today 2 months later someone else moves in I mean what happened 🤷♂️
Our family has used Myers Real Estate for both management of a rental home. The management included both property and tenant management. Our overall experience was very positive, if there was a problem with anything on the property Myers provided us with estimates and lists of general contractors to get them fixed. With the help of Myer Real Estate several major improvements was made to the property and improved the overall rentability of the property. Maintenance was always first class. I never had a struggle with trying to get it rented or with things being fixed. I would highly recommend them for property management. They always provided us with a detailed monthly cost sheet and also provided us with tenant information about back costs and rent not being paid. Lastly when we chose to sell the property their real estate broker helped us acquire and sell the home. I would recommend them for all of their services.
Andy worked with my wife and I for over a year to find the perfect house and make sure the entire process went smooth and easy. He is a great resource to people on the hunt for a new home!
We currently live in California and rent the house we left in Columbus OH. When the last tenant moved out in August of 2013 we struggled for 3 months to get my house rented. Finally I listened to my wife (men please take my advice and listen to your wives!) and decided to list the property with a real-estate broker. My wife came across Myers Realty while searching the Internet and thank God she did! From our first contact to our very last communication with this company we were very impressed!I’m not one to throw around compliments and I certainly don’t provide feedback on websites. Myers had two significant challenges right out the gate when it came to finding renters for my house. The first and most significant challenge was the rent payment itself. Home values dropped significantly in the area where my house is located but my mortgage payment didn’t drop a dime! With that being the case I needed to find renters willing and financially able to pay a higher rent than the norm for the area. The second challenge was the fact that winter was just beginning. Columbus had just got hit with 5 inches of snow and if no snow had fallen at all it’s generally harder to find renters in the winter time.Long story short Meyers found us great tenants (a nice retired elderly couple) within 2 weeks of signing the agreement. Some may call that “LUCK” but I would argue if luck played a part I would have rented the house 3 months earlier on my own!?! These folks know what they are doing and they shared my sense of urgency to get my house rented. Both the office staff (especially Traci) and the property manager was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and above all patient with us throughout the entire process. I will not hesitate to use their services in the future and I STRONGLY recommend them to anyone with any real-estate needs! Thanks again Myers team keep doing what you are doing, it works!
Seemed as if they did not want to meet with us to answer our questions. Instead of them looking into their schedules to see if they could make it happen we were pushed to the side. Thats bad for business!
Andy Myers made purchasing our dream home easy. He went above and beyond to make this transaction smooth! We highly recommend Myers Real Estate!
I have been trying to get in contact with them for two weeks and it’s been basically impossible. I was interested in seeing one of their rental properties to rent.I called and left a voicemail, sent an email, and a request on their website. Never heard back. I called the next day and spoke to someone who took my name and number and said she’d call back once she figured out when they could show the apartment to me. Never heard back. Called the following Monday and said I had contacted them several times without hearing back and again they took my number and information. Finally received an email from them asking me the same questions I left on the voicemail, in the email, and told the girl on the phone who supposedly took my information and was supposed to call back but never did. I replied and gave them the information, again they told me that they would let me know when they could show me the rental... 3 days later still no reply. I sent another email to follow up on when I could see the apartment, still no reply. This “company” is completely disorganized and unprofessional. I am so glad that I know how awful they are with any kind of communication because clearly they wouldn’t get back to their residents if they had requests. Completely awful. So glad I won’t be renting from them!!!
Oh boy.... Where do I start? Why is zero stars not an option?First of all, I have to respond to the review by Linda Schumm. Linda, I rented the condo you own- and are apparently satisfied with the upkeep of- for 8 years. Let me tell you, they did a horrible job and your place is falling apart. I would consider a different manager of your property if you ever plan on selling. I’m happy to discuss the true status of your property at any time if you’d like.Second of all, Myers does nothing more than a horrific job. They are rude, unresponsive, money-grubbing liars. They have a high turnover of office administrators and so you’re talking to a different person every time. Then, when you call to complain, they pin the situation on the person that’s already left their employ instead of taking responsibility.Allow me to provide a list of things they neglected in the property I rented for YEARS:1. mold and rot on the living room mail slot2. Living room window broken3. 2nd bedroom window broken4. A huge crack in the bathroom indicating foundational issues5. Clogged bathroom drain then lying about a shared tub drain with the property next door6. Clogged drain in basement7. Mold on the wall in the basement8. The sewage left in my basement for over a week before anything was done9. Kitchen garbage disposal broken10. Repeating sink/drainage issuesI could go on, but do I need to?Myers real estate, your business put me through so much stress and agony. Shame on you for taking advantage of so many people out there.
Having worked with Myers Real Estate in the past they are a truly professional organization. Whether you are looking for your own place or if you have a property to be managed, Myers can assist you for all your real estate needs!
As a condo management company they are TERRIBLE. They charge almost $5,700/year just as a management fee. Which is roughly 10% of the costs that they set forth (Actually pretty standard %, but when you look at the costs for everything else, its ridiculous). Over $1,200 for meter readings and statement mailing (which they dont even mail most of the statements anymore). They charge over $13,000 as a RESERVE. They charge this every year and we never see a refund for it so the assumption is that this is also going into their pockets. Ive had them fix my back gate a few times. They dont want to replace anything because next year they plan to replace all gates - we shall see about that. I was told when moving in (not by them, but by the seller which was on the board) that they were going to be putting in carports. They said that was too expensive, but would be well worth it. We were never told when the meetings were or where they were held. It seems at times, they are simply there to collect the check.Ive done a few loans on this property as well. They charge $175 to fill out less than 3 full pages. They dont even fully fill out questions 21 which is in regards to the insurance agent, they say please contact agent. In addition, they say it takes 3 business days, to fill out 3 pieces of paper. If you want it same business day, its over $300. The only functional part seems to be Arnold. He is quick at returning calls and emails, but even then things dont seem to get done in a timely manner. I am guessing it has something to do with the fact that they only have 10 employees that are non-realtors working there and manage 26 properties. They either need to higher more people or relinquish management of some properties to improve the quality of their work. The consistently row ratings say it all.
DO NOT RENT FROM MYERS! You have been warned.Note that all the five star reviews are only a couple of short glowing sentences and dont elaborate at all, while all the negative ones, that are *actual reviews* written by *actual customers* and not by bogus shills actually go into detail. So crazy that they have to resort to cheating the system and still cant pull over a 2.5 star average. It really says a lot about this company.I myself have never had a worse experience renting an apartment. Their rent rates are extortionate to begin with and they hire the cheapest, worst contractors for repairs and renovations. However, the thing that left the worst taste in my mouth was the process of moving out. I found a new place and decided to move out a couple weeks before the end of the lease. I informed Myers of this and said that I intended to return the keys afterwards. I thought I was doing them a favor by moving out a little early and giving them extra time to do any work to the apartment and show it to new tenants. Boy was I wrong. They informed me that I would still be responsible for paying rent up through the end of the lease, so I made my final months rent payment, moved all my stuff, and a couple days later called and cancelled my utilities and internet service then turned in my keys. I got a letter in the mail a couple weeks after Id moved informing me that I owe them nearly $60 for the electric bill... that was in their name... for the time period between my move out and the end of the month. I called and asked why they were asking me to foot the bill for their massive electricity use and was told very rudely (every one of their employees Ive spoken to have been rude and unhelpful) that the lease specifically says that the tenant is responsible for all utilities until the end of the lease. Shame on me for trying to do Myers a favor and for not going through the lease with a fine tooth comb to make sure they dont screw me over! I went through the lease and checked and although they were right, it also says in the lease that the tenant has to be informed at least 24 hours before a Myers employee enters the apartment to conduct maintenance or other tasks such as turning all the lights on in the apartment and leaving them on 24/7 which is the only possible way to rack up that electricity bill of nearly $60 in just two weeks with NO ONE IN THE APARTMENT, a figure that would take me over a month to reach with me actually living there. They tried to get me to pay but I refused until I received the security deposit, which arrived in the mail just a couple days after the notice. I found they already took that bill out of the security deposit along with a slew of other sleazy landlord nickel-and-dime charges even though I left the apartment spotless. Had I paid the electricity bill immediately I wouldve been double charged as they had already taken it out of the security deposit. I shudder to think of how Id get the money back had I done that.I wish I could give Myers zero stars as do many of the other reviewers here but unfortunately thats not how Google works.
Overall, our 2 and a half years of rental experience with Myers Realty was fair. The application and signing processes were smooth. When not needed, Myers did not involve themselves with us as tenants. However, when we did need them for service requests, lawn care, etc. they were delayed. Small service requests were handled promptly, however with bigger issues such as a flooded basement drain, we would find ourselves having to reach out to them for any sort of update. On numerous accounts during the summers, our lawn would go prolonged periods of time without being cut to the point where the grass would be shin-high and we, or our neighbors, would be calling in for service. The move out process was where we experienced the most frustrating issues. We notified Myers two months prior to us moving out. We received the move out acknowledgement letter in the mail, and followed every instruction listed. We were moving out on the 8th of the month but when it came time to be charged for our last rent payment, Myers did not prorate the amount accordingly and charged us for a full month on the 1st. We had to reach out to them to fix the issue. The following month, our autopay with PayLease had not been cancelled so we were charged another full month of rent even though we had moved out. Only after that were we notified that it was our responsibility to cancel our autopay, but we were never given instruction to do so or how to do so.Over the course of the next 3 weeks, there was a lack of communication from Myers and we had to reach out countless times just to get an update on when we would be receiving these large refunds. We were told one week that the check had been sent out, and it was verified again with the office later in the week that the refund was in the mail. The following week, we went into the office and we were informed the check had never actually been sent to us. Myers had no explanation to provide us as to why it was verified with us twice that the check was signed and sent, when that simply hadn’t been the case. It would have been beneficial to be told that the refund had never been mailed. After expressing our frustration, the accountant Laura became disrespectful and belittling towards us. By the end of the day, Myers had the check ready for us and we were able to pick it up at the office and deposit it at the bank.Overall, Myers never took responsibility or offered an apology throughout this entire process. There was a severe lack of communication both towards us, and apparently between the people in the office. We paid our rent on time every single month for over 2 and a half years, yet Myers took a month and a half to refund over $1,700 that was never supposed to be in their hands.
My experience with Myers was absolutely horrible. The office staff were rude and highly unprofessional, and the upkeep of my apartment only improved when a Myers relative moved into a nearby unit. They promised they would make repairs that they never followed through on, and for the price that I was paying, I found the apartment to be in very poor condition. A leaky roof, crumbling spots on the ceilings, disgustingly old and dirty carpets, and animals living in the wall of my living room were just a few of the problems I experienced during my stay. I would NEVER recommend Myers to a friend or colleague.
Ive not had a single issue with Myers. Lived in a four-family unit in Upper Arlington for two years. While we had our share of expected hiccups (our furnace went out, disposal broke), Myers contacted their maintenance contacts immediately and the service was timely and professional. There was also an instance in which I thought I hit submit on the online rent payment portal, but the payment was never processed so my rent was about two weeks late. They sent me a late fee and when I called to discuss, they sent me a fee waiver form and a few days later Angie emailed me and let me know my fee had been graciously waived! Great experience, would recommend! Only reason Im moving is I wanted a bigger place.
DONT DO IT if there are any other places you could take.First, the duplex side we moved into had been empty over six months, but there were still a bunch of things they hadnt fixed (incl a monstrously loud 1960s heating system that an HVAC student friend and the contractor they finally sent both laughed out loud at, and a completely detached shower head Myers said still worked). That finally got fixed after a zillion calls, as reluctant as they seemed to want to update anything, seemingly thanks to the responsible owner. Then we had neighbors in the other side so viciously embroiled in domestic violence and regular 4 AM screaming that half the block was calling the police, and a huge pitbull next door barking at all hours in our no-dogs house. It took a super long time, like eight months, for them to be removed, finally occurring after police surrounded the house and busted down the door. I get that evictions take time, but there were so many lease-breaking things being complained of over and over again. So were in the clear? Nope. Today, out of the blue, we get a paper notice shoved in our screen door handle that after over a year of paying rent early every month, INCLUDING THIS MONTH, we are being evicted for nonpayment with 3 days to move out. Guess what happened? THEY JUST DIDNT SEE OUR PAYMENT, which was as always, several days early. They went to immediate three-day-notice eviction, (proving that they can manage quick evictions after all), didnt double check anything on their end or try to call us. There was no professional apology when my husband called and they easily located our payment, instead the woman was super rude to him like it was no big deal. Its one thing to have to fight for repairs, another to deal with bad neighbors, and another to have lost payments and a surprise eviction notice, but a whole new level to have a company be unprofessional and rude about their huge mistake. Its just a lot, youd be better renting somewhere else if you can.Saving grace for us is that the owner of our property is awesome, he seems to really care about his buildings. He fixed everything up and gave us new windows and a new heating and AC system. If it werent for his work we wouldnt still think it was worth living here for a bit.
The absolute worst. Wish 0 stars was an option. My HOA fees continued to go up with absolutely no general maintenance done to the property. Showing pictures of the building to the management did nothing. Talked in circles trying to get them to respond to general maintenance to no avail. Then I began to receive late payment notifications for my HOA fees which were paid in full because of their bad record keeping. I sold the property and am still trying to resolve issues and late notices!*EDIT & RESOLUTIONMyers reached out to me to resolve the late payments. Apparently when my HOA switched management I had a credit for $200 which somehow came through as a late payment! Myers took the time to not only look into this, but issue me a refund plus the interest! I ended up receiving a check. Thank you for the resolve! For that I have switched my rating.
Myers manages the condominium association in which my husband and I own a unit. I would give them zero stars if I could. Incompetent, unprofessional, uneducated, and they never respond to phone calls and emails. When you do have the pleasure of speaking to someone they are dismissive and unwilling to assist. Not the experience my husband and I expected to be treated to as homeowners.
DO NOT RENT FROM MYERS!!!Renting from this company has been the worst experience. Ive rented a townhome from Myers for the last few years. Contacting them about any repairs is impossible. The people are incompetent and consistently rude whenever asked to do anything. Ive listed just a few of the problems that Ive had with them over the past 3 years.1. When the front door of the unit was replaced, the screen door was thrown away and never replaced.2. The Windows. When I sent in a service request to repair/replace the windows in the unit in late summer, specifically the window with a huge crack in the frame that was big enough to stick my hand through, the property management/Myers ignored my repair request until I continuously contacted about the issue. At that time, they said that the windows would be taken care of. However, they waited until the following spring to replace the windows. This led to outrageous electric bills that averaged almost $400 per month throughout the winter months. Myers did not offer any compensation or deduction from rent for those months even though they were well aware of the problem with the windows. When they finally decided to repair the windows in the spring, they hired the worst contractor possible for the job. The gentlemen were unprofessional and invasive. My fiance walked in to the apartment to discover one of the men going through our refrigerator and had even drank some of our pop. Completely unacceptable.3. Myers sent me a notice saying that I would be evicted due to late payments. When I contacted them, they admitted that it was a mistake, but only after I provided them with complete transaction. History proving that I had not missed a payment. After reading many Google reviews, it seems as if this is a trend of the company.4. I came home one day to find my front door wide open during the summer with the air conditioner on. I was about to call the police and report a break in whenever a man appeared from my basement and told me that he was there to replace the smoke detectors. Myers neglected to contact me and tell me that this was happening. That is unnaceptable and an invasion of privacy.5. After reporting a leak in the bathroom that led to damage in the drywall next to the bathtub, Myers did nothing but replace the showerhead. The leak continued to the point where a whole corroded in the wall beside the bathtub and even dripped down into the downstairs bathroom causing mold to grow and another whole in the downstairs bathroom ceiling. When I contacted Myers about this issue again, they sent someone who dug out the whole in the ceiling of the downstairs bathroom and did not repair it. The whole is still there. The whole next to the tub is still there. The mold is still there. Myers sent someone to repair the tub, but they didnt fix the caulking or take care of any of the other issues.
They dont attend to your repair requests until you call/email them at least 2-3 times. And the lease contract would ask you to do everything and deem you responsible for everything while they just sit there and take the rent. You cant sublet and cant have pets. They increased the rent this year but the maintenance service still sucks!
**UPDATE 9/28/13: I received a call from Andy Myers saying that he understands how the situation could have been confusing, and he agreed to refund $260 of my security deposit. Thats a big move on his part, as he did not technically have to do this. It doesnt change the way I feel about the rudeness/unhelpfulness of the office, but I appreciate Mr. Myers taking the time to call me back go above and beyond to make things right.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I rented a 2 BR apartment from Myers Real Estate for 3 years. Every time had to call the main number with a question or issue, the staff was extremely rude and not helpful. For example, I trapped 4 mice in a few months this past winter. I called Myers to see if they could provide any help with this mouse problem. They actually said that since I used my own traps (that I paid for) to catch the mice, they wouldnt be able to help. Knowing this was a blow-off attempt by the office, I said so if I would have called you in the beginning and asked you to put down traps, THEN you could have helped me? And the lady on the phone replied, totally unsure of herself, .....yes. I was floored by the ridiculousness of that logic. The worst and most costly issue just happened as I was moving out though. I chose not to renew my lease. I was sent several lease addendums and letters saying that if I wanted to renew, I could sign and return the addendum. If I chose not to renew, I simply had to NOT return the addendums. Not trusting Myers, I even called MONTHS in advance of moving out and told them I would not be renewing my lease. I asked if there was anything else I needed to do to let them know I was not renewing, besides not sign and return the addendum. They said no, that I was good. Then, roughly 2 weeks before moving out, Myers called and asked if I was renewing. I said no...AGAIN...and they asked me to put that in writing. I just got my security deposit back today, and they took $190 out of it because I didnt give them 30 days written notice that I wasnt renewing. They actually charged me for 30 days after I gave the written notice, even though my lease ended halfway into that 30 days. So in essence, I had to pay the $190 AFTER my lease had ended and I had moved out of that place for rent. All because they never had the courtesy to tell me, on the several occasions I discussed not renewing with them, that I needed to inform them in writing 30 days before my lease ended. And this was just the worst of many issues. Bottom line - DO NOT RENT FROM MYERS REALTY. Rent from a company that cares and is helpful. Or at the very least, one that is polite and respectful.
Here are some of my experiences:1) One month i decided to pay in person (bad mistake). Myers realty misplaced my payment and applied it to the wrong apartment. Not my fault, but they decided to send me notice that they were going to kick me out of my apartment for non payment. I immediately called the manager and left a message but got no return call back. A few days later I called and they informed me of all this info they needed to research what happened to the funds. Long story short they admitted they applied it to the wrong apartment by accident but offered no apology. Instead they told me that they have so many apartments to take care of that this is bound to happen! What terrible service!2) I had a small problem initially with my AC not kicking on. I called them and they swiftly sent someone out to take a look. A week later I got almost a $200 bill for this service call. Wish I would have been informed that was going to happen.3) I received the wrong water bill for several months in someone elses name and in an insane amount (normally it was around $40 per month but this was over $100 each month). I called and let them know about this and they said they would fix it. A month later i emailed and still was waiting for this to be fixed. They sent a nice repairman to look at my water issue to see if that could be causing this (nothing about getting it in someone elses name) and nothing was found to be causing the extreme water bills (toilet wasnt running, no visible leaks, etc). They told me i was still obligated to pay these extreme water bills EVEN THOUGH they werent put in my name. Never got an explanation why or how the name on the water bill was changed too.4) The day I was moving out I moved some bulk items next to the trash for bulk pickup to get. Within an hour of doing so mr myers himself confronted me on why he didnt like me doing this! This makes me wonder if they have cameras in their apt buildings? Still it was very strange for him to show up like that and confront me. How did he know I was the one who put the item in question out near the trash? VERY STRANGE. Still though I made the adjustments he requested out of respect and fear I wouldnt get my deposit back.I moved out and left the apartment in good shape but didnt receive my full deposit back. I thought about disputing this but I WOULDNT DARE EVEN TRY TO CONTACT THIS COMPANY EVER AGAIN..
I moved in less than one year ago, and Ive had nothing but poor experiences with this management company. Upon moving into the townhouse Im currently renting, I found the place to be an absolute dump. With little time to find another place, I simply sat tight and trusted they would rectify the issues. Was I ever wrong. For starters, there were holes torn into doors, carpets that shouldve been changed at least 2 or 3 years ago judging by its state upon move in, the kitchen cabinets still had the disgusting food remnants left by the previous tenants, and candy left under the fridge. Of course I filled this all in the move in form given to tenants to file their complaints about the unit, expecting them to address within roughly a week as is usually the case in my experience. Nothing of the sort. It took them probably a month to even take action in response to my incessant calling. At which point they said oh, well have a contractor call you. The contractor did indeed call, he set up a date and told me to call him regarding specific time of day, called him several times, no answer! I hit upon a busy streak for a few weeks, literally no time to deal with these issues as I was barely home to begin with but I contacted them later and no one even payed attention. The AC failed on me twice in the span of two months approximately, and they blamed me for not changing the filter, despite the fact that I was never instructed on how to do this properly, a fact corroborated by the contractor telling me that Myers typically dont do a good job of informing their tenants on how to do this. The second total failure happened on May 26th at which point I immediately contacted them, they only sent someone out June 1st, and though I understood that it would take 48 hours to thaw the unit from the solid block of ice it turned into, the follow up appointment to fix the unit was only completed today, June 10th. Upon contacting the office and having to be very pointed with them, the lady on the phone named Tracy decided to cop an attitude, be unhelpful, impatient, rude and contradictory for no reason and with no basis of fact or logic. To have my issue resolved I had to contact the Better Business Bureau which got them off their asses and got them working. Only to find a message from them sent to me through the Bureau that they did their best to get stuff done but I was unresponsive, a total load of crap. If your last option is between a Myers managed property or an Extended Stay, pack a bag and be ready to pay weekly, because Myers is the worst management office I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. 8 months into my 1 year lease Id totally decided not to renew my lease, and just want to let all potential tenants know of my horrific experiences with them so far. The cliche Id give them zero stars if I could could not be more fitting in any other place than this right now.UPDATE: (As though this post really needed one) my life schedule packed, and my expectations low...I thought Id attempt to just solve my issues at this unit if possible, to avoid the hassle of finding a new place and moving again after only 12 months. I contacted Garry the property manager to come take a look finally at the issues I had with my unit, if they could just fix the existing problems I had upon move in I would renew the lease for another 12 months. With their tone of good will and apparent intention to do the right thing finally. He showed up not on the agreed time, left a card. Upon calling his office only 30 minutes after hed allegedly come by, they told me hed give me a call back immediately*. *Immediately: (adverb) meaning one weeks time minimum if youre dealing with Myers Real Estate. Upon calling me a week later, I was simply told to get out told that theyd come to the decision that they wouldnt offer me a lease renewal, stating that they had no interest in spending the money to deal with these issues and basically get out we dont want to deal with you anymore. Now they hang up in my face if I even ask them to fix anything. screw them
I rented a 1 BR/BA from Myers Real Estate from February 2011-July 2012. I read some rather negative reviews of the agency before moving, but I was anxious to live in Grandview, and they had the perfect property for me.Throughout my experience with Myers, I have to say that I was quite impressed with them in almost every aspect. The rent was very fair for the area and size of the apartment, and the pre-rental procedure, while as arduous as with any agent, was handled very courteously and professionally. While in the apartment, there were some mechanical problems that occurred, mostly due to the age of the property. The water heater broke down, the disposal had to be reset and there was a leak in my kitchen sink plumbing. All three issues were both significant AND taken care of within 24 hours of my reporting the issues on their website. The water heater repair in particular was reported at 8pm and was fixed before I got home from work the next day at 5pm.Some other reviews had mentioned impolite staff members in the office or on their maintenance team, but I had no such interaction with any such employees; they have all been ultra professional and very polite and nice. This is a great organization that I trust and look forward to renting with them in the future.
To: Bob Myers, March 17, 2014...I just concluded my 3 year term as President of our condo association, so I wanted to personally write to let you know how excellent the service has been from your team to manage our building, theHeights Condominiums, in Grandview - with special thanks to Arnold Barzak and Katie Berk. All of my contact with Myers in fact, has been positive from the warm greeting from your people, whether it be in your reception area or over the phone...to all the work that follows. In particular,Arnold made my job easier. He has taken good care of the board as well as the owners of theHeights Condominiums. He is always right there on top of things and provides good direction andfollow up on the big picture as well as the nitty-gritty details. And he does it all with a positive and upbeat approach to his work. As you know, we transitioned to Myers from a previous condomanagement company 2 years ago and the change has been night & day - and I have to say thatArnold in particular has made the difference. He represents your company well and you are veryfortunate to have him there. So, thank you again for all your support and for a job well done by Myers Real Estate.Best regards,Ron FothPresident & CEORon Foth Advertising
F across the board! This company recently bought and manages the property my company leases in Columbus on N. Hamilton near the airport. They report to absolutely nothing...emails & phone calls. Other Tenants and myself have been robbed repeatedly here. There are absolutely no lights, pitch dark at night. My office manager resigned because she felt unsafe leaving at night! All of the gutters on the building leak, garbage in parking lot everywhere, HVAC out in my unit, no repose from property manager. Among other things Ive tried to get a return call for! The bottom line is they dont care and its absolutely rediculouse that anyone or any company wont return their tenants emails or phone calls. Good luck dealing with this company! The people I have spoken to are also rude and unprofeshional and pretty arogant! Not sure why they are arogant considering i just read a dozen of tjeir otjer reviews and this seems to be pretty standard business practices with Myers! I dont ushaky write bad reviews, I usually am able to work out business issues with my vendors. However, I cant work anything out with this company because they dont return calls or care to resolve their tenant issues!
Complete waste of time. Called on 4 different days and sent an email trying to get an apartment showing. Each time I called I was promised a return call and never got a response. If this is how they they treat potential renters, I can’t imagine what poor service they show actually tenants.
Has kept his word with me on my transactions
We love our shop!!
Extremely rude on the phone.
