Jessica and Alex have been very helpful in the office and I appreciate all they did to make my move-in extremely smooth and easy-going. I am glad I chose to live here!
Ive lived here for more than 2 years. The overall experience is good except for the extremely bad working attitude of a leasing office staff I met recently. My roommate went out for a trip and he parked his car in the community. The first time they towed his car was because it had a flat tire. They put a tag on the car windows but my roommate wasnt here so we both didnt see that. They said residents were required to have cars registered in their system so they could give us a call and also a verbal warning of the towing. It was fine because we didnt know about the existence of the system and it was 100% our responsibility. After that, we registered his car.HOWEVER, his car was towed again a couple of days ago because of the same reason (the cars tire somehow flat again). But we didnt received any call and verbal warning of the towing. When I asked the manager of Madison Park why there was no verbal warning, she said SHE DIDNT USE THE SYSTEM AT ALL.I was confused and when I tried to show her the email that the staff told me about the registration system and verbal warning. SHE REFUSED TO EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT IT. She said:Your car is gone, thats it, I dont care about what the staff told to you, she might not work here anymore. I dont wanna talk about it.I felt being offended so I said I wanted to talk to the manager. She said I am the manager of the Madison Park (and showed a [whatever face]) Then I tried to ask about the Preferred Living complaint hotline. She said she didnt know and asked me to search online myself.I was SHOCKED because I never thought about a MANAGER would talk to the resident with this bad attitude! In the whole conversion, my voice was soft and never louder to her. I EVEN ASKED HER: Hey, calm down, why youre so mad? I talked to the complaint hotline and came back to the office to ask her name. She said she already send an email to them and she said they were totally aware of this situation. JUST UNBELIEVABLE. Her name is Jessica, FYI.I want to understand 2 things: 1) Why you said you would give us a verbal warning before you towed the car but you did not? And why the manager said she didnt use the system? 2) How can you use such a person with an extremely bad working attitude as a manager? I feel very sad about it.
Ive lived at Madison Park for nearly 6 years now and its been a great experience. The leasing office staff are easy to work with, friendly, and respond in a timely manner. The maintenance staff has always taken care of my needs in a timely manner and any issues Ive experienced have been handled professionally and thoroughly. The apartments are modern, clean, and quiet and conveniently located by OSUs campus and the highway, with quick access to downtown Columbus and shopping/dining at Polaris and Easton. I would highly recommend Madison Park as a fabulous place to live.
Lived in the building of 4540 for two years. Hardly heard train and traffic noise when windows were closed though the apartment faces to the Henderson road. Plenty of parking spaces. A big living room and large windows in bedrooms. Two bathrooms resolved the conflicts between roomates. Nice officers, highly responsive maintenance. About 10mins drove to OSU through 315. 5 mins drove to kroger, chinese and japanese supermarkets.Close to Olentangy river trial which is good for running/biking. I enjoyed running on the trail during summer. The only con was that the sensor of AC was in the living room which means when living room was warm enough but the bedrooms were still freezing. Electricity fees were high during winters. We solved the issue by buying heaters from walmart.Great memories were left in the Columbus and Im missing the city a lot...
Love it here at Madison Park! Nice and quiet, and very safe! Any maintenance issues are addressed and taken care of immediately. I have been very happy here!
Madison Park is one of the worst place ive lived, there new officer is disgusting, she is super mean, when i move out, they let me pay a huge budget, and didnt give me any evidence
Negatives- Stairs- Dangerous turn in parking lot- TRAIN IS SO LOUD- PricePositives- Nice apartment- Awesome maintenance team- Location (Besides Train)- Bike friendly! (Mine was stolen though)
Madison Park is a beautiful community. From the spacious floor plans to the built in speakers. I must also mention the membership with the Premier at Sawmill. What more can you ask for. The office staff is very friendly. And maintenance responds to work orders in a timely manner. Madison Park is a great place to live.
Madison Park is a generally great place to live. When we have a maintenance request, the issue is resolved within a day. The inside of the apartments are super nice and I love that my roommate and I have our own bedrooms AND bathrooms. Parking is easy and theres always a spot to park. Having a washer/dryer in the unit is a huge bonus, too. I wish there was a pool/gym in the complex, but the membership to Premier is great. Its a gorgeous gym with an indoor/outdoor pool. They have fun events and live music. Overall, I love living here. However, our apartment faces the railroad tracks and the train is EXTREMELY loud. We were told when we first moved in that the trains dont pass by very often, but they actually do. It cuts the TV out when a train goes by! We have also had some issues with getting packages and being notified by the leasing office when a package arrives. Im glad to see that some improvements have been made with communication and events and the social media.
I lived at Madison Park for 1 1/2 years, and only had an issue when we moved out this past December. The maintenance team at Madison had let themselves into our apartment to change a filter while we were out of town. When we returned to pack our final items, we saw that our shampooer to clean the carpets was missing from the apartment. We informed the Madison Park Manager that is was missing. There were Zero signs of forced entry, so the only plausible way the shampooer went missing was if a maintenance staffer took it, or they forgot to lock our door and someone else entered and took it.Because those two scenarios are the only possible ways the shampooer went missing, we thought we should be reimbursed by Preferred Living for the cost of it ($200). Instead, they denied that this was their fault and that we were out of luck.As others have mentioned these apartments are very nice. However if I knew this is how they resolve matters with their tenants, we would have never chosen to live here. There are hundreds of apartment complexes to live at in Columbus, be weary of Preferred Living complexes. (Also be aware that you will never get your full deposit back. They nit pick to find ways to deduct from your deposit, or you may even end up owing them money.)
Not recommended now. First, package was delivered to the office when I moved in. Now it was left on the first floor. Everyone could take it. I lost my package twice. I do not know if someone steals it or the postman leaves it to the wrong place. Anyway, it wastes your time to find. Second, I really doubt the worker they hire like weeding, planting or something, not the maintenance, they will try to break into your house if you forget to lock your door. I found once when I was back home to take my files. My wife told me someone tried to open the door very rudely after I left. I really appreciate the maintenance man, he is the best from what I know. That is the only reason why I give 3 stars.
They only want your money. They are trying to sell the property and are willing to allow people to break into apartments, cars, go through your trash, and refuse to even put up a sign or a camera to prevent this. They dont care. The maintenance guys are the only ones who care at all.
Really affordable (especially for a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom) and beautiful apartment! I never have a problem with parking for myself or my guests, and its in a super safe location. Theres no pool/recreation center on site, but you get a membership to Premier on Sawmill (which is almost better because you get access to free fitness classes with your membership). You should take note that theres a train track right behind the complex, but it has never been noisy enough to bother me while in my apartment. Ive been here for a full year and so far its been my favorite apartment that Ive lived in in Columbus!
I absolutely love my apartment! I work downtown and its so quick and easy for me to get there plus, there area ton of options for eating right in our immediate neighborhood so I dont have to go far. Everyone around here between my neighbors and the office staff have all been so friendly!
I just want to view it and find t h e price. Very expensive.
I love my apartment here. Its very cute and I am so close to OSU without having to live there. The office people are very friendly and love when I bring my dog in to see them.
Great place! Its quite and private. It really makes you feel like home.
I intentionally dont review property management companies until all post-move out matters have been settled. Whats really a bummer is that Preferred Living/Madison Park wouldve received a great review from me...until I received a move out statement. Let me preface this by saying I was a model tenant...neat freak--vacuumed every week, wiped down everything on a regular basis, dusted, cleaned baseboards, all that fun stuff; respectful; communicative. The office and maintenance staff at Madison Park were great, but where they get you is the move out process.Ive never been nickel and dimed like Preferred Living did. Although the clause in their lease states Guest shall return the Suite to the same condition as existed on the date of move-in, reasonable wear and tear expected (Section 8), they are far from reasonable. We were charged for painting, for light bulbs, a ridiculous amount for drip pans, outrageous cleaning fees. Should you choose to live in one of their properties, document. Document. Document. Everything. Twice. And then again. We were model tenants, and ended up owing them a balance. I cant imagine how other people fare.Again, I liked the actual apartment and Madison Park staff. However, its clear, based on my experience and many others, that they get you on your way out. Its a scam. Think twice.
Lived there for a year.Pros:Nice appliancesDidnt have any problems with noise from neighbors through walls (lived on 1st floor)Quick maintenance requestsCons:Do not expect to get your security deposit ($250) back. They will unjustly charge for things that you explicitly stated existed in the unit before you moved in. They also charge heavy on cleaning and will deem your cleaning to be Grade B and charge on it.They will trick you. I didnt thoroughly read the contract for adding a garage permit. When I was talking to the manager, she told me at the time I could cancel it whenever. When I decided to return the garage permit she simply forwarded the lease terms to me and refused to say anything. There is a train track literally 10 steps away from the unit I lived in. This train is very loud, if you cannot sleep through it - do not move here.
Great apartment! Managers here are always willing to help us.
The apartment is beautiful, but the staff in the office is stupid! Even let me buy the new bulbs by myself when I request maintenance. First time see this situation at a apartment while I am renting. Its better to change her to a realizable person to help us. The staff promise to give me $250 when I referred a friend to live here, but I am living here for two years and did not get the money. Also, they rise up the rental price every year. The electric is very expensive like double bill than AEP.
I like this Madison Park, I choose it after searching for serval other apartment. I think this is the best one, because of the reasonable prices and it very close to Japanese supermarket. And in here parking is free for residents, also has the cooperative gym. Btw, as a student of OSU, it always took 10 minutes to drive to school.
Be informed before renting here or any Preferred Living complex. Firstly, communication is HORRIBLE. Example: we received a letter in our door letting us know we had 2 days to get rid of a grill that we specifically bought because we had a balcony and were told grills were permitted. Apparently, the complex had just discovered that this was actually a fire code violation so they were putting the burden of removing the grill and somehow figuring out how to not make this a total financial loss on us because of their ignorance. They also moved the leasing office off site for about 6 months with little to no warning. You should be very aware of where your unit will actually be located. When we toured we were not told a railroad track ran behind the complex and although we shouldve paid more attention, it should have been disclosed that our unit directly faced the tracks and would shake about 4 times a night when trains passed. You will also not get your pet deposit fee back at all, it is simply a fee for what is apparently the very exclusive privilege of owning a small pet. And many people wont pick up after these pets; there was feces all over the parking lot and common grassy areas. Management did not seem to think it important to enforce any policy about picking up after your dogs. Upon move out, you will be charged exorbitant fees for what is routine cleaning between tenants. I thoroughly cleaned the unit before move out to the best of my ability without having professional cleaning equipment and was still charged various cleaning fees (including $5 to replace a lightbulb that never worked when we moved in and we didnt even realize was a light). Also, due to a stain about 4 inches wide by 1 inch deep in a corner of the carpet, management felt it necessary to replace the entire carpet of a 2 bedroom apartment and stuck us with the fee. There were various other stains on the carpet that we noted on move in and we were blamed for these as well despite having the documentation that we did not cause them. So do more research than we did and dont get stuck in a lease with these slumlords. It may seem like a decent price for the amount of square footage but you will more than pay for it in fees and utilities. They also raise rent by about $50/month every year so dont plan on staying for long as it will quickly move out of your price range. I have already warned all my friends and family members to avoid Preferred Living at all costs and based on some other reviews of their complexes I have read, this is not an uncommon experience.Bonus! They use APL as their electric provider not AEP. Be prepared to pay double in utilities what you would expect because APL basically buys the electricity from AEP and charges a service fee for providing it. You will also pay for your entire buildings electric so even though you kept the heat on 68 degrees all winter, youll pay $200 a month because someone on the first floor is cranking it to 75.
Great place very happy here.
Great apartments and staff.
Summer time
I like it here and I like the people.
Drunk, the day before yesterday moved in, the carpet has a disgusting taste, quickly spit, went to the front desk, the front desk said that we have done a carpet cleaning, cleaning the end? ? ? Are there bugs in the washing machines cabin? A bunch of bugs! ! ! ! The mother who flies around, the plug in the bathroom is not good, the room is too hot, and the clothes are wet for 2 hours. ? ? The door lock is always unscrewed? ! ! ! I was paralyzed and moved in and lived the next day. I am now looking for a house again. Can you see if this article can help me recommend a house? Thank you.
