Do NOT MOVE HERE!!!! Maintenance doesnt do maintenance, no one is ever in the office and if they are they wont answer the phone or return calls. Theres been co2 leaks, floods, skunks live under the buildings, mold, my sink is held up with duct tape and tbh just dont do it!
I lived at Barclay from 2012 until 2015, I absolutely loved it here. We (myself, my now wife, and roomate) lived in one of the townhomes. Sure it was a rough area, but we really never had any issues with anything. Parking sucked sometimes, and there were always cops in the area... but the townhouse itself was great.Rent was cheap for 3 college age people working full time. Close to downtown, close to the airport, Easton, Bexley, etc... not the greatest place in the city to rent, but for the price, it couldnt be beat!
Maintenance doesn’t fix things in a timely manner. They will leave raccoons in the attics until they get good and ready. Units are older then my great grandmother.
I lived here for my first apartment. It was not terrible. The 1 BEDs DO NOT HAVE WASHER AND DRYER, but they do offer an expensive laundry on site. I have no true complaints. The 2 BEDs finished basement is some paint slapped on the floors and walls, and a thin privacy wall between the W/D hookups. Maintenance was timely and somewhat trustworthy, the leasing staff were only half rude, this place is often VERY quiet with no rif raf, and fairly clean complex. Overall it was a good first apartment. I was HIGHLY disappointed that my mailbox was exposed and never repaired to fix the core lock on the boxes. Super sketchy there. My real complaint is the new staff in the leasing office. Since new staff came in at the end of 2020 not many changes were made in the sense that COVID was happening and no one could pay there rent; they were not supportive there. I had a resident referral, in which they were giving bonuses, the woman in the office tried to deny me this bonus and make it a hassle, and ended up giving me the bonus and deducted random fees from my refundable security deposit. I left the apartment better than it was when I moved in.
I left an abusive partner and Barclay ruined my credit not letting me back out of our contract. Now I cant find a place to live because I cant afford 4,000 to end a contract I was forced to agree to and left for my safety. They got me in court. That was extremely traumatising. Cant afford a therapist so Im writing a bad review for them on google that is capitalism at its finest yeesh.
My partner has lived in this complex about 3 years. We needed more space when I moved in and tried to work with management to get into a larger unit. Managment made us go month to month with an extra $50 tacked onto our rent until a new unit opened up. Ran my application and had to rerun my partners application, both with a $35 application fee. Then failed to notify us once a bigger unit opened up. We saw on their website that a townhouse was available and contacted them for details. They then informed us that we would have to pay rent for a full month in our current apartment as well as for the new unit. Which they did not tell us was coming available in time for us to leave notice. Their solution was to wait another month and a half for another apartment to come available. We decided not to deal with this rental office any longer. There is more to the story, but I am not trying to write a novel. I am going to be enormously happy to leave this disorganized and inconsiderate company.
I was interested in these apartments but I literally can’t get anyone over the phone and I have called for the last 3 weeks at least 4 times a day Monday through Friday.
I spent a year at Barclay Square before having to move for work reasons. Carrie and Melissa in the office were amazing and helpful on all issues I had while living at Barclay Square. While it is an older complex, it quaint and homey. Parking could get hairy at times but there was always a spot around the building I lived in. One thing to caution is the parking lot throughout. I wish all the potholes would or could be fixed.
When we signed our lease a second time, they offered a carpet cleaning for residents who signed early. Once we did they told us they would come in December. These people show up to clean the carpets in July with no call ahead, or forewarning and so we got charged a fee for “refusing carpet cleaning” and they included the fee in our next months rent balance. When they were the ones that screwed up. Roger C. Perry is full of con-artists.
My fiance & I have lived here this will be our fourth year. Its a quiet and peaceful place. The ladies in the office are absolutely wonderful. The properties grounds are well kept. The apartment is awesome. It feels like home. Were bout to renew our contract.
Super Money hungry... when your lease time is ready for renew, they give you 2 options either you pay an extra $50 to go month to month or sign a full year lease and your rent will still go up every year... most places go month to month after the first year automatically... I was there over 5 years... Im so glad I left!
Last week I went to the rent office to see what are the qualifications to get approved for a place the lady told me I need to make 3 times the rent have either good rental history or good credit so I asked her how much was the application fee she told me $30 then I put in my application she told me it should take 2 to 3 business days to find out if I got approved or not so I called today to ask if I got approved or not she said I got denied because of my credit what you mean if she didnt give me all the information I needed when I asked her when I put in my application then I called back and asked why is the information not included in the package that they give their response was its in the packet look and hung up on me so Ill call back again ask the lady why she hangs up she give me some of those sassy attitude and tells me the application fee is not refundable Vinces anything else have a good day thanks for the interest in these apartments you might want to watch out there are really rude they did not give you all the information that you need at the beginning and I feel like they just beginning of peoples application fee for nothing this happened to me before and I dont approve of it you just cant not tell people everything that they need to know before they put in an application for a place the apartments are really nice butt the staff was super rude
Love it here. I have no complaints besides the parking. Parking can get a bit out of control due to unassigned spots. Visitors are suppose to park away from residential areas and their not. On a regular night spots are filled with residents friends or family just spending the night. The staff are all very nice and helpful. Pool was always clean and a daily monitor person there as well. No crime have been reported in months. A definite plus for me. The complex is normally quiet night and day. I would definitely recommend!
Weve been here for over 10+ years and for the money its not a bad complex. It is an older one, originally built in the 1970s and does have some things that need fixing, but you are going to get that anywhere. I have found Carrie and the staff to be very responsive when something needs to be done. She has also been flexible when weve had other issues. If you respect and work with her, she will work with you within the guidelines that she has to follow.
I recently spoke with Carrie several times, she was very pleasant ans helpful, I also visited the office which was treated great. I have drive through several times at diffrent times, it has been very quiet the grounds are very well taken care of. I really liked them.
TOO MANY RESTRICTIONS. CANT HAVE COMPANY TO COME OVER FOR A SWIM...IF U HAVE COMPANY THEY THINK SOMEONE LIVES THERE WITH YOU AND WHAT THEIR NAME ON YOUR LEAST. NOT ENOUGH PARKING FOR CARS. CHUG HOLES THRUOUT THE ENTIRE APARTMENT COMPLEX.
Barclay Square is the the best apartment complex Ive ever lived in. Ive been living here for 3 yrs and have never had any issues winoisy neighbors or pest. Most of my nieghbors have lived here for years as well, which speaks volumes about Barclay. If Ive ever need anything fixed they are always on time with repairs. They do a great job with maintaining the property. The staff members are friendly and professional, and the rent is very affordable for this neighborhood.
BEES BEES EVERYWHERE. Every summer you can count on this place having a HUGE bee problem; potentially DEADLY for anyone with an allergy. A ridiculous amount of giant carpenter bees have burrowed their way into the walls of many of these apartments, to the extent that its impossible not to take immediate notice of them. They have huge hives inside the roof-areas just above the doorways to most of these apartments. Theyre so LOUD and numerous that if you stand on one of these doorsteps, you can hear what sounds like scratching and squirming.... but no- its not a wild animal trapped within your walls, its just HELLLA bees! In the morning, you can forget about being able to take your time locking or unlocking your door, because if you arent quick enough you WILL get stung multiple times. The bees have taken over. Everyone who lives here says the same thing. At night they tap and scratch loudly against the windows. Little children can be seen RUNNING IN FEAR as they exit their homes every day to avoid getting swarmed by this problematic infestation. The main office is aware of the problem, but all they do is occasionally send a guy out to spray some repellent towards the doorways. And yknow what that accomplishes? SEVERELY pissing the bees off for about 2 hours... And then they simply go back to digging into your walls. Something needs to be done about this; its getting worse and worse each summer. Ive spoken to a couple of neighbors who say the bees have gotten all the way into their homes and caused big problems.Other than that, this place is okay, considering how cheap it is at least. But anyone with a bee allergy or phobia or general dislike may want to steer clear. Considering how rapidly endangered bees are becoming itd be a shame to have to kill all of them I guess, I dunno if theres some kind of bee-saving hippie group out there that could simply save/relocate these bees instead of killing them or something- but if not, they have got to GO. Tear this rotting wood out already, destroy the hives and fix the damn issue.
I lived at Barclay Square from June 2012 until July 2017 and I have to say, it was a great experience. I would probably still living there if I did not have to move to Cincinnati for work, so I think it is only fair that I write a review for those who are currently lookingBefore moving here, I was looking for a townhome with an affordable montly rent in a safe neighborhood. I read the reviews I could find online and many of them were negative talking about this complex not being safe and noisy. I came and visited twice. I have to confess I was very skeptical about this community. I drove around it a good 5 random times just to confirm the rumors and reviews I was seeing online, but I did not see anything. So I took my chances and moved in.This was probably the best decision in my years of renting apartments. 8 mins from downtown, 10 mins from OSU campus, 7 mins from the airport, and 15 mins from Easton Town Center (with me driving). I have to let you know, it is not that easy to get approved here, and they have strict rules, but when it comes to you dealing with issues, Carrie (so hot), Melissa, and just before I left Meghan were always on top of it. Most of the time within 24 business hours, my issues were getting resolved. If not, maintenance would leave a note to update on the situation and what the next step would be to get it fixed. Its a very helpful team always nice, listening to complaints and there almost everytime they are needed. For example, This one girl once moved into the unit next door to mine with her mother and her children. Every night it was either fighting, screaming, or partying. She violated so many rules and received multipe complaint about her. The police had to coe several times to her apartment for noise complaints. At multiple occasions she hosted guests with their dogs in this community that does not allow any dog on the property (otherwise I would have had a dog too. I love Dogs). Everytime I would go try to ask her to ease with noice, she was rather violent. She lasted 3 months before been asked to vacate the premise which was a relief for many of us.I should mention the windows in the apartments are old, therefore not energy efficient so are some of the appliances. However they have relaced all the electric bulbs with neon bulb which are mre energy efficient. If you are still hesitating, well do not anymore. Move in and enjoy your stay in this quiet, not-in-your-business community. I still stop by the leasing office whenever I come to Columbus and am in the Bexley area to say hi to Carrie. If I were to return to Columbus, I already know where Id move to.
Carrie Murrin is a waste of breath. Unprofessional and poorly managed. She is unwilling to work with her tenants. Ive even walked into the leasing office to discover her getting her hair braided. Take all problems to the corporate office and ask for Josh. Carrie give Roger C. Perry a horrible name.
The apartment is nice neighborhood is very quiet the only issue is communicating with the leasing stuff even during the application process its hard to get a hold of anybody who works legit called 20 plus times about an emergency request and still was not able to get a hold of anyone in the leasing office. This is a terrible inconvenience ! Management should try to provide better customer service to there current and future tents !
