I have lived at 1400 King for 2.5 years and recommended it to multiple people. The staff is so nice, maintenance will fix something the same day it was requested, and the tenants are extremely quiet. I have never had any issues living here. Susan has by far been the best landlord I will probably ever see in my days of renting.
If you want to live in a hell where the maintenance workers enter your bedroom at any given time then shout profanity at you, seek no further than Eventide. This is my first chapter in signing a lease with landlords from hell, and Eventide calls horrid harassments like this as flukes and dismiss it as nothing. If you ask to put a lock on your door to divert intrusions from this, be prepared to shell out a lot of money. So WHEN you grow scared of Eventide sending more foul-mouthed maintenance workers to invade your bedroom, I recommend pushing your dresser up against the door every night. It will help you sleep, it did for me. If you dare speak up about these things you can expect to have a tire stolen off your vehicle in a $35/ month parking spot on top of the additional $50 month charge for a washer and dryer from the 1970s.When signing with Eventide, be prepared for massive loads of emails, and I truly mean massive amounts. Receiving several emails per day of people that ..might be viewing your home [in a few hours]. (screenshots provided) For those of you reading and unfamiliar with how apartment viewings work outside the world of Eventide (Hell), the landlord will have a 24hour viewing notice posted on your door. If you sign a lease with the devil, you have to ALWAYS keep tabs on your email or else you are subject to experience an entourage of people enter your dwelling while laying in bed, on the toilet, in the shower. This not only happened but was common. This next installment on my plead for you not to rent with Eventide is in the event if you have a roommate misses a payment date, there is a fee of at least $200. By comparison, my current landlord at Amcata/ Campus Coops charges $15.I could go on forever of how Eventide wrongs their tenants but I hope whoever reads this gets the idea. The only great asset Eventide has is Mary. Mary was the only beacon of hope when renting with Eventide. Everyone else there are crooks looking to squeeze whatever cash they can out of their tenants to make a cheap buck.P.S. I would like to acknowledge that the only positive reviews of Eventide are by anonymous. Perhaps Eventide giving themselves reviews? Hm
I was able to wake up 30 minutes before class and still make it to class. The maintenance gentlemen were very cordial and fulfilled all of our requests within a day or two of submitting the requests. The office ladies are truly gems and are there to address any concerns you have. Definitely would recommend Eventide to those who are looking for an affordable place to live around campus.
Had a really great experience with a short term apartment lease (Aug-Dec) through Mary and Susan at Eventide! Very responsive and willing to communicate with residents. Maintenance was always very fast and effective. The place itself was exactly what youd expect on college campus. Would definitely recommend.
I am from Israel and I was living in 1400 king avenue building by Eventide for the past three years and it was just great! The apartment was wonderful and the people managing the property were just amazing, quick and efficient with everything I asked for! Any problem they fixed the next day or even sometimes the same day! Mary and Susan are just delightful landlords to have! Go and rent ASAP before someone else takes it from ya ;-)
I rented with Eventide for about 5 years while living in Columbus and the staff is what kept me coming back! In addition to great properties l trusted the maintenance staff to take care of any problems promptly. Visiting Mary in the office was like visiting a friend and they were very accommodating of my schedule when we did have to meet. The properties they offer are exceptional- awesome location for students, updated, and wonderfully kept. I would recommend Eventide to anyone!
Best rental Company on Campus!I have never experienced more caring and genuine people when dealing with housing companies. They are personable and understand and do everything themselves. I have dealt with Home team, Buckeye real estate, and GLS reality and none of them even compare to Eventide! If you are looking for a wonderful, well priced place to live and a good experience while living there. I HIGHLY recommend signing up with Eventide. Mary and Susan will hook you up with a great home, and make sure it goes smoothly.
Great housing, staff, and management. Its been the best realty group Ive rented from, and the only one that you can message at 3 am and get a response within minutes.
I am currently in my third year of renting with Eventide. Ive been very pleased thus far. Every email Ive ever sent has been responded to quickly. Any maintenance request Ive had has been handled either the day I send the request or the next day. We had an issue once and the crew addressed it immediately. They even came back a few days later to make sure that everything was still working smoothly and that we were happy with how everything was going. Ive enjoyed the entire experience with Mary, Susan, and everyone else on the Eventide team with whom Ive interacted. The prices are a little steeper than some places and some of the policies are quite strict. I think that ultimately ends up being a benefit because our apartment is very nice and very well maintained.I would highly recommend Eventide; our experience has been nothing but positive thus far!
I am a long term Eventide resident. I have always found the staff to be courteous and responsive to any request I have submitted. Over the years the company has modernized and expanded its online presence making it more efficient for tenants in many aspects. i would recommend this company to anyone looking for safe affordable housing.
I lived with Eventide for 3 years in 2 different apartments. I took a yearlong hiatus and couldnt wait to get back with them because they are the most attentive landlords I have had. Any maintenance requests were taken care of in a prompt manner, and the staff are always prompt in their replies to emails, which I appreciate, considering how many tenants they have. Fair prices for great location/ amenities (complimentary WiFi)/ and service. Would definitely rent again if I could!!
My husband and I rented 4 years from Eventide during school and it was FANTASTIC! The location was extremely convenient, safe, and rent was more than reasonable for the amount of space we got. There was even free internet in the building. Susan is amazing and communicates very well and truly cares for her tenants!! I have been recommending them to everyone - as much as possible-excellent experience!!
Eventide is a great company to rent from as they know each tennant personally and respond to email requests generally within the hour. If I ever had a problem with the property I knew they would be able to help me out as soon as possible. Thanks for an awesome year!
I woke up ten minutes before my class started and didnt leave on my bike for another 3. I was sitting down in class, bike locked up, before it started, that is how close Im living. Everything on campus is a 5min. bike ride away. Its a blessing for 9 am classes. My place is sizable and in a great location, very clean neighborhood. My garbage disposal broke down and they had a guy there the same day. I have all hardwood floors and a beautiful brick fireplace. It really is a classy place, you can expect an email to be answered very quickly, at all hours. Ill be staying with Eventide until I finish school, no doubt.
Eventide has been by far the best company Ive rented from on Ohio State campus. Maintenance issues were always resolved within a few hours of reporting it, even if the email was sent way past normal 9-5 office hours. Often issues were addressed within minutes. My landlord knew me by name and was always willing to go the extra mile to make sure the apartment was in good order. Prices are fair and wifi works well and is included in rent. Overall a great experience.
Ive been renting from Eventide in the Grandview area for quite a while. The office staff/owners have been great and attentive to the safety and maintenance needs of my apartment and to the property/building for a long time.On occasion when there has been a maintenance issue, they have always been on top of it immediately while notifying me/tenants ahead of time of their arrival. The public hallways within the building look great as they have been recently updated. What I like about this company is that theyve listened to my concerns in the past and addressed them. Additionally, they care about their tenants and properties
Landlord did not fix dishwasher leaking which I reported in first week at apartment, and he was reminded monthly. He also tried to claim I broke it and should pay $2000 to have dishwasher fixed. Even with recorded phone calls and copies of faxes to his office he threatened to sue me. It took a letter on legal letterhead with a package of evidence to get Mike to back off.Despite me making all repairs to unit and having it professionally cleaned, be kept deposit and tried to charge for $12,000 worth of repairs. I did not pay those obviously.Mike often came for rent weeks and eventually months early and would later want to collect the same rent again and threaten me.I lived on campus for more than 10 years, and never dealt with a renter that was so dishonest and incompetent.I could continue but the point is clear, this place is sleazy and takes advantage of people. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. You would be better off being homeless than living in one of their rentals.
Do not trust their website. I was looking at their website and found a wonderful 1 bedroom close to campus that the website stated was available and was just inside my price range. They still had listed multiple available units on the website, but after spending almost 3 hours trying to get in contact with them, I was told that everything had been rented for the next year. A waste of my time.
I was a pharmacy candidate coming to Columbus for the first time and King Ave was the first and only apartment I stayed at during my 4 years in pharmacy school. The location is perfect for anyone that needs to travel to the medical campus at OSU. Its one block from a COTA bus stop and Kroger is right behind the apartment building (theres no quicker way to grab some food when youre studying for exams). The apartment is also very close to Grandview Ave where there are a lot of great restaurants and shops to visit during the Grandview Hop (in the summer). Eventide is very organized and responsive to any questions or concerns that you may encounter. I couldnt have asked for a better rental company to work with or apartment.
I would not recommend renting from Eventide. There was mold and mildew all over the apartment I was renting and they refused to do anything about it. They then charged me for the mold in my security deposit and I was only able to get half of it back event though I cleaned everything and made sure I left the apartment in better condition. I threatened to sue after showing them before and after pictures and they finally relented. This took 2 months. The rent might be kind of cheap but its definitely a cheap and unhealthy place to live. I agree with the other reviewers in that the employees are very incompetent and spacey. It will take them forever to help you with anything. Although I do think their emergency repair service is good, but its a third party provider not part of Eventide.
I lived with Eventide for a year and I cannot even believe that I lasted that long. The way they treat their tenants is insulting. You get emails about ridiculous things ALL THE TIME. Anything from, Dont park here to I was in your apartment and I think you should clean it. - I literally got these emails! They are extremely unprofessional, spacey, and insult their tenants by treating them like children. I moved out a month ago and they havent even dealt with my security deposit refund yet.I SCRUBBED my house, left it spotless and they found so many little things that I am being returned less than half of my security deposit. They literally charged me because a window sill was dirty.Your rent checks will never be the same amount eitherI would sooner move back home than rent another apartment from them. I advise everyone to rent elsewhere.
Great place for me when I stayed for the Fall Semester. Right on High St. within walking distance from campus (15 min. walk to the main Mech. Eng. building, Scott). Even closer (~1-5 min) to a few restaurants, bars, a CVS, and cafe kerouac. A bus stop for the COTA busses is also right outside the door to get wherever else you need easily. Great location, easy stay, fast internet, 5/5.
I have been renting with Eventide for over 4 years and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for an attentive landlord with reasonable flexibility. She really cares for her tenants and is always willing to keep an eye for you if you are away for work or school breaks. Work orders are always taken care of in a few days so long as you speak up. I have stayed at the same place for 4 years (within 5 min walking to campus) and have not had any issue. Showings can be frequent at the beginning of the school year but they are very transparent and do their best to not disturb your peace. In the past 4 years, they have taken the initiative to install new windows (better insulation = less utilities) and upgraded internet speed to a whopping 300 Mbps without charging extra, something most landlords ignore but are crucial for 3 to 4- bed room apartments with a lot of college students. Overall, this is a landlord that exceeds expectation and is very ideal for college students who are new to renting on their own but need someone they can trust.
The house we rented was horrid. Carpet has never been replaced. Tiles missing in the kitchen floors and the basement was disastrous. When we moved out they charged us upwards of $1000 with some crazy charges like wrong colored lightbulbs (there wasnt anything crazy like blue or red, they were just regular lightbulbs) and also charged us for stains in the concrete basement floor (this was from when the basement flooded and they didnt clean up the water) as well as charging us for tape residue and stains in 20 year old carpet. They will cheat you on your security deposit, and they are annoying to deal with. They need to update their houses and not keep charging crazy rent amounts with crappy appliances and flooring. Would be nice if the walls were painted. Not to mention there is a good 3 inch gap from the base of the floor and the wall in the livingroom that they neglected to fix.Recommend looking somewhere else.
Finally, Im free of the horror that was living in an Eventide apartment. Ive been waiting for MONTHS to write this review. The apartment from hell does not even begin to cover what my experience was like. When I moved in, the apartment was disgustingly filthy and unsafe. Im talking three inches of dust on the ceiling fan. An exposed light fixture in the bathroom over the tub. An oven/stove combo with rusted dials. The outside window panes on one window were TAPED on. With blue masking tape, not even duct tape!Of course, I called maintenance. I was told they would come within the week. I asked what day or time of day, I was told the nature of their work is unpredictable. Now tell me, have you ever woken up to a grown man standing in your room? As a single female living on her own, thats a terrifying experience.Calling maintenance wasnt even useful, of course. I asked twice for them to fix the laundry machine, and three times to fix the garbage disposal. The garbage disposal was never fixed, despite them saying they had, and they had the nerve to charge me to fix it when I moved out! I never even got to use the darn disposal! The apartment itself was in poor condition, structurally. The basement flooded seceral times with a foul smelling, brown water. We had many infestations over my one year prison sentence of a lease- rats, fleas, gnats and of course, mold. I stopped keeping any food in the apartment whatsoever after the first week. I kept the place spotless.Somehow, despite this apartment being comparable to a third world country favela (which I have actually stayed at), they managed to convince me it was constantly being shown. I recieved no less than SIXTY emails informing me that my apartment would be shown WITHIN A TWO MONTH PERIOD. They actually broke the law a few times by not giving 24 hours notice to me. Sometimes they would just say it would happen sometime this week. One of the landlords, Mary, brought in a couple (unannounced, as usual) WITH THEIR DOG and the darn thing just wandered around my apartment (and who would be paying the $750 cleaning fee on that, hm?).Emails asking about issues would be ignored many a time, taking days to get a response about.Of course, out of my $750 deposit, I only got $300 back. They charged me to clean everything, even the oven (which I never even got to use!!!!). They charged me for the disposal they never fixed. They charged me $25 for a burnt out lightbulb.Im not the only one with horror stories. Many fellow inmates of Eventide I befriended reported black mold in their apartments (which you can see in another review where they say it was her fault), getting constant upper respiratory infections. Another reported a $75 cleaning fee to remove a single plate left in the cabinet after move-out. They charge exorbitant amounts for every little service- if your neighbors aremt using the communal washing machine as well, its $50 a month. Parking? $40 a month, if I remember correctly.Never have I ever experienced such blatant unprofessionalism and filth. I wouldnt reccomend living here to my worst enemy. Take a wide berth from this rental company!
Their star rating was a 2.4 just last month before they added fake 5 star reviews. The washing and drying machines we are required to use are so old and so weak that, not only can you see the mold growing in them, but also they have left a consistently absurd amount of bacteria in my clothing. Even after getting in to the habit of washing my clothing twice, then drying them twice (a detriment to my delicates) I wound up in the ER with multiple infections. My doctor and nurses confirmed: they almost certainly came from the sub-par machines. My roomate and I suspect that there is mildew in our room because we have both started experiencing breathing problems whenever we spend time in it (which is absolutely terrifying). Another one of our roomates has an unaddressed, uninsulated crack in her wall that is so large that she can actually here the wind blowing in it. As you can imagine, this is becoming a more prominent problem the longer these winter months progress. Now Im stuck with Medical bills, which will pile up the longer these respiratory problems persist (for my roomate as well) and the largest bedroom in the entire apartment constantly freezing us out. We have lived in this apartment for about 3 months now and I have no idea how we are going to make it to may, nor why we are paying these prices for an unhygenic apartment. If these problems are addressed I will edit this review.*I am aware they have now responded that they have fixed all of the above problems, but unfortunately they have not. The crack in my roomates room has been filled, but the respiratory problems with some of us, as well as the problems with the washer and drier persist. Actually it has gotten worse. Susan, our landlord, has taped up 2 signs on the second set of washer/drier just to enforce that we can not use the newer, more hygenic set.
Very good about taking care of maintenance issues and are persistent to make sure they are resolved.
Your typical college rental place.
