Lisa with Merrilyn Hall Realty helped my family sell my grandmothers house. She was knowledgeable of the area and made the process easy for my 95 year old dad. Lisa was caring, personable, and listened. An offer was made within a day of being put on the market and resulted in a sale getting my dad a profit considerably more than the other realtors we consulted. I highly recommend Merrilyn Hall Realty and will use them for any future realty needs.

While everyone at the office was nice, I would advise anyone to not rent property under Merrilyn Hall. When moving into our house, the lawn was not mowed and nothing inside looked like it had been cleaned. That’s fine as we don’t mind doing it ourselves, however upon moving out Merrilyn expect you to pay hundreds of dollars for carpet cleaning and yard maintenance. Carpet cleaning is normal wear and tear of a house so whoever does contracts for the company really need to look into this... Also, by all means do not expect to get your deposit back, they charge you for anything they can find, as others reviewers have also complained about, and they disregarded the money they made us put into maintenance while moving out in the first place. I’ve lived in many different places and have never had these issues before. Even after talking to other property managers, they’ve agreed it doesn’t make sense...

As someone looking for a rental property, I have never had a more difficult time with a company. From being able to see a property, to getting answers about my application, Merrilyn Hall made nothing easy. I am glad I realized before I rented though because I foresee many headaches with them in the future.

I can only speak to my experience with Merrilyn Hall and her company. She managed my property for 5 years and I just fire her for gross mismanagement if my property. I have over $9000.00 in cleaning and damages to the property not to mention the lost income and back rent owed from the tenant she put into the home. The wife told her in October 2018 she was moving out and that the husband was using illegal drugs, which is a violation of the lease and grounds for immediate eviction but Merrilyn took no action. The husband who also has mental health issues continued to live in the house and cause damage after the wife left in October. Sewer was shut off due to non-payment and he continued using the toilets and staying in the house with no electricity or sewer. Appliances are damaged beyond repair. Wires to security system have been pulled out of the boxes. Merrilyn refused to do the 2 inspections per year I asked he to do while these tenants lived there n the home. Had she done her job and conducted these inspections she would have seen the condition of the home, but she clearly has on regard for the property owners she represents. I would have given -5 stars if that was an option. If you want to screw someone over, recommend Merrilyn Hall Realty to them. I have the photos and witnesses to back up everything I wrote here and more.

As a tenant to Merrill Hall Realty I can only say positive things how about there service to their tenants and the maintenance of their houses. I enjoyed my stay in the house ran by Merrill Hall Realty. So, I highly recommend them for your housing needs in Columbia!

I have a high attention to detail and like things to clear and so I can understand them.Everyone at MHR has been top drawer -- from Lisa and Dale who helped me buy the three houses, to April who is tireless in answering my persnickety questions about my monthly statements, to Merrilyn who is a complete pro when it comes to understanding the market.If you are looking for a property manager for the Columbia area, look no farther!

When renting in 2012-2013, the property wasnt well taken care of, but we werent intending on staying long, and the conditions were livable. We reported all damages, but they didnt get fixed in the year that we lived there. When we finally moved out, they charged us for damages that had already been there, and refused to give us back our deposit. We even had pictures of the damages they claimed that we did. Wed already moved to a different state, and didnt have the bandwidth to settle it in court, but beware if the same people from five years ago are running this business!!!

April and her team have been AWESOME, she was very patient showing me many houses. She never showed any sign of annoyances, always smiling from the first day until my husband and I found a first home. Mrs Hall - April thank you it has been a pleasure to work with yall.

April is awesome! ... Merrilyn (unfortunately) is a crook and scam artist on the rental property side. Dont expect to get your deposit back. Shell charge you for every little thing on move out. If you are unlucky enough to have to rent from them, you better TAKE pictures on move in. EX: carpet stains (on 20 year old carpet), missing blinds that were missing upon move in, and even light bulbs! I could go on for another paragraph, easy, but you get the picture... If you have to rent from her, TAKE pictures! And beware ...

I called this place about a property and drove 2 1/2 hrs to see the house. I was looking for a place for my wife, two dogs, a cat, and myself. The first thing I asked over the phone was the pet policy and if my pets would be clear and the rep confirmed. They are very disrespectful, especially Mrs. Hall. Very dodgy and minimalist when asked questions. I went to see the house and came back to ask more questions (to which they apparently cannot answer or refuse to because we haven’t done the application). There is no structure with the homeowner and this company. When I asked about pets in person it’s “negotiable”. How do they not know the preferences of the specific homeowner’s property that I asked for. Nevertheless I did not pay for the application because “the city of Irmo pet ordinance says they can not rent property to renters with more than two pets”. Which is what they told me 15 min into the conversation to now tell me this. Disrespectful. I read the city ordinances when I got home and it said nothing that even relates to maximum pets and I’m waiting on the city to confirm this. Just don’t do business here. Misinformed, disrespectful, lack of communication with homeowners, shady people.
