Super friendly employees! Got a haircut and went out of my comfort zone with a new style and ended up LOVING it. The price is great too. Hair washing is included in the price of a haircut, which is great.
Schrildia Hazlett did an outstanding job! Her 20+ years of experience really shined through. I am very particular about my haircut and she understood what I was asking for and hit it spot on! I would recommend her and Varsity Clips to anyone.
Amanda is the best. Been going here for years.
They have been cutting my hair for years and will for years to come
Very unprofessional. This was my worst experience. I told the lady over there some style but she cut some random style. Very bad experience of my life. Dont waste your money.. I told her not to cut them a lot but she didnt understand. I wish i havent gone there. My bad luck. My friends are laughing on my hair cut. No stars at al
Went in for our sons first haircut. (1 year old). Mom wasn’t happy about it getting cut but afterwards she was all smiles! They were great with him and he came out looking great! They even gave us a bag to keep a piece of his hair for his scrapbook!Thank you guys! Will come back here when he needs to get it cut again and mine as well.
They are friendly and do a great job with everything.
Quite reliable, notably affordable, and quality cuts. All in the heart of COMO. The perfect, quick and clean salon.
Eyelish tinting. Looks great but burned a little.
Love this place and customer service. Amanda treats you like her best friend.
Great place. Friendly.
Love this place. I always request Amanda, because she always talks to me about my life and pets. She consistanly does a good job and knows what I want before I even open my mouth to say hi. She always makes sure Im confident in my decisions before she starts cutting. The place just got a remodel and it looks great. Its more spacious now and their product display looks good.
Awesome place to get your haircut!
Note: Univ. discount is no longer availableBeen going there for a year or so now. Nice discount for University-affiliated people. All haircuts have been acceptable, and most have been very good. Their record system seems to be reliable. Overall, good experience. The cost to value (at least with the discount) is better than nearby chains.
The staff has always been very accommodating. I always feel like they take the time necessary to give me a great hair cut and tend to any specific needs that I have that day. They really take your intent into consideration and try to make sure that you get a cut that you leave feeling good about. They have recommended several products and styles to me that have been a good fit. I always find their facilities clean and orderly and I get a good feeling about being there. The girls are always super nice and efficient in getting me back if there is a wait. They seem to care about your time more so than some of the other places in town.
Emily was a pleasure to be around while she was cutting my hair. I was pleased by how thorough and attentive she was. Originally, I was nervous going into a new salon on a walk-in basis, but the experience was great! Id definitely recommend Emily to anyone.
Really like this place. I am pretty picky and have had two different stylists cut my hair, both were great haircuts. Both Brittany and Tiffany were nice and pleasant. Just moved to town and Ive definitely found my new go to place for a haircut.
Varsity Clips is a great place to get your haircut and I highly recommend Tina as your hair stylist. She made it easy to get exactly the hair style that I requested and I always left there looking so fresh and so clean! Shes awesome and deserves a raise :) Thanks Varsity Clips!!
The location is more than convenient, since it is on campus. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They are professional and THEY KNOW WHAT TO DO. I take my hair so seriously, therefore I highly recommend this place. If you want a great hair expert, ask for Karress Dawson, she is great
Heather is the worst stylist there, so I wouldn’t recommend her. Gave her a second opportunity to give haircut. Which she carelessly cut, not to mention her bad attitude, but Cut the hair unevenly and made the fade a patchy unprofessional mess.
My number one place to get a hair cut. Offer military and Veterans United discounts along with a free pitcher of beer or margaritas with a special during the summer.
I was drawn to this place by convenience to Mizzou and curiosity of all the negative reviews!... I got a fine haircut and have no complaints. I little more than I usually pay but I think its average for the area (Im new).
Received the worst fade I’ve ever gotten. I can’t believe I paid for it either. A fade is supposed to be smooth and transitional. My fade currently looks like a step from the road to the edge of a sidewalk. I will be sticking to the local barber shops. I should have just went there anyways, but when I called over the phone the lady confidentially said she can do fades. Either she should never do a fade or she should quit.
Great service at a great price. Friendly staff, and I can get in pretty quick without an appointment.
Very impressed with the haircut I received at Varsity Clips. I used to go to a salon in Saint Louis for a $40 haircut, found that I could get the same results for a fraction of the price. Great atmosphere accompanied by quick and friendly service.
My one and only style center in town. Price is nice and they come with the style of exactly what you want. Services are good and every stylist is nice.
Go see Jamie!!!! She is the best. Not only does she cut hair well shes a pro with razor and can do all kind of designs shaved in your head!! Go see her
Wish I could give it no stars. So disappointing. Terribly run and with bad service on top of that. Waited over an hour and a half for my 14 year old brothers haircut. We didn’t have an appointment and they said it would be around 30 minutes. They put people in front of him that didn’t have appointments either and only had two people working on a Saturday afternoon. Will not come back.
So for about 20 years I buzzed my head because I was always disappointed with my cut. I decided to try out Varsity Clips here in Columbia when I moved here and I am extremely happy that decision... Very friendly staff that are very talented in the hair cutting arts. All of them are great but tina is my go to stylist! thanks Varsity Clips!!! See ya soon!!
Tina is great hair stylist! She always gives you the perfect cut and everyone loves being around her! Ask for Tina if you go to Varsity Clips!
Walked in an hour ago. In a 25 minute session, Heather asked what I wanted, gave me a cut, washed my hair, and put product in. I get back to my hotel to check it out and she missed several spots on the top part of my head by a couple inches. I’m not that picky so it’s no big deal to me but it probably would be for others so that’s why I’m sharing my experience. She rushed around on the cut and wasn’t particularly friendly. The cut is uneven, not textured or whatever they’d say. I’ll go to another place to get it cleaned up tomorrow.
I got a great haircut here. Would recommend to anybody
Exceptionally bad. The hairstylist didnt even bother looking up my preferences in their system. Despite being told that my hair is thin at the top of my head and the hairstylist should clip my hair at the top as oppose to using the trimmer, the hairstylist did exactly what she was told not to do. I wear glasses and do not see well when they are off. When I did put my glasses back on after the haircut, the damage was already done. She, the hairstylist, took
Called to make a appointment and i was agreed with Varsity Jaz. I ask her to repeat herself and again Varsity Jaz. Maybe im old fashion but i expect a hello or somthing. Definitely taking my business else where. #rude
I went in with a Pocket Points coupon to get a trim several weeks ago. The woman at the front desk told me straightening was included with the haircut, when in fact it cost $20 more. The stylist didnt cut off all of my split ends, and as she straightened my hair, I could hear more hairs breaking. Left with a worse hair condition than I went in with. In addition, she refused to let me use the coupon. Terrible service and worse haircut.
Really confused by some of these bad reviews! I honestly havent gone anywhere else in Columbia since I found this place. My hair is a big part of my personality, and they nail it every time.
Amanda G. is the only person I will make appointments with. She is a boss. If she leaves then so will I.
08/09 i received. A Haircut that was rushed with obvious lines it was just a bad job thoroughly i mean the whole place seems like your getting your hair cut in a hallway and this old man whom i assume is the owner or manager stomps around like a drill sargeant while openly mocking his employees like its a school yard just a uncomfortable atmosphere and terrible sevice your 2 for 2 on the terrible scale smh!! & this place used to be my go to but now i think im gonna spend my money else where like a clean cuts, sports clips or heck ill even take a smart style cut before i go back do this wretched and dismal place 0 stars but 1 is lowest i can give
A great place to get a haircut near campus. Note it is a bit pricey like most places in town.
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! To sum up my haircut in one word, HORRIBLE!!! These females are fresh out of school and it shows. They basically know how to give a buzz cut with scissors and thats about it,
This is not a good place to get a haircut especially if youre an international student and/or are trying to get more than just a trim. I dont think my name is very difficult to pronounce but she didnt even try when trying to read it off the walkin signup sheet was how it started. It started with ok YOU, now YOU come back and I can get started on you. (No hello, how are you? or any type of customer courtesy) She asked me what kind of cut I wanted and I started pulling out pictures on my phone of a bunch of asymmetrical bob cuts and telling her how I want an asymmetric short hair with bangs but not too short. I was trying to show her multiple pictures of a few models, explaining how I want the length of model A but style of model B, because no one picture was an accurate description of what length I wanted and how much asymmetry i was going for. She rudely interrupted me while I was talking and said all these pictures you have shown me have different lengths so I dont know what youre talking about. I was going to say how thats what I was trying to explain how I want the length of one model but style of other but she interrupted again and white-splained(derived from man-splain, basically when a certain category of people dont consider your opinions worthy and they interrupt to explain you) me how asymmetric haircuts work and if I go for a certain length it might not look like an asymmetry rather an uneven haircut. I just gave up on explaining at that point and we proceeded towards shampooing and I thought, well maybe I can wait till she actually starts doing it to tell her what I meant. She washed my hair, still no smiling/small talk. I am mostly introverted and not a big fan of my hairdresser talking to me but I just got very rude vibes from her. Once she proceeded and again asked me how long and short do I want my asymmetrical side to be I explained her how short side can be above the shoulder and the long side can just about touch the shoulder and she said okay. She to rudely cut my hair while her, her colleague, and the other customer on the next chair engaged in small talk/conversation. At one point she even left my hair cut midway to join in on some backdoor laundry drama situation going on. I gave her a borderline angry-confused look and she came back otherwise she would have just left my hair midway and gone to attend some of her business. Once we were done she asked me if I needed my hair to be blow dried. I usually dont like blow drying and love my natural curls but I thought if she doesnt dry it I wont be able to tell if the asymmetry actually came out right but she said my hair wont look good dry and I should let it air-dry. I thought I could always come back and get another trim if I dont like it. Once I was done she said and here is a back mirror if you want to see the back view I have NEVER been to a hairdresser who doesnt show the backview to you themselves but asks you to do it yourself, if you want to. She basically couldnt care less about me or my hair. Even I was lazy about using the backview mirror and just wanted to get out of this dehumanizing situation as soon as possible. I was like I guess its fine and you cant really tell until it dries anyways. I was not going to tip her but I just am too nice I guess and cant deal with the awkwardness that comes with not tipping so I rounded up the bill to nearest whole number accommodating 2-ish dollar tip and left. Once my hair dried I noticed that the asymmetry is not gradual and it legit looks like an uneven haircut that a 5 year old did, especially from the back. I guess I can work with it with some cute styling and combing techniques for now and wait for it to be a little longer to get asymmetry redone from a nicer salon. I usually dont leave reviews on anything ever but ranting about this incident to my friends was just not enough for me. I know shouldnt expect too much from a chain hairdressing place bit I feel you should be able to expect and receive courtesy from all humans in general at least if not quality service
The problem with this place is all of their barbers are female, and from their look I can already assume that they are only used to working with female customers.I showed a photo of what I wanted my hair to look like to my barber ( a blonde girl, do not remember the name ), she seemed to know what to do, but it turned out she didnt. Just like another review here stated, it only took her about 10 minutes to work her magic before taking me to shampooing. It looked nothing like the photo. In fact, she pretty much only shaved and cut everything off in an attempt to recreate what was in my photo. I could do that myself at home without wasting 16 bucks. So if you want my opinion, if you are a male and demand anything more than a simple clean-up haircut ( which I think you can actually do yourself at home with a barbers kit from Walmart ), think twice. Dont let the stylish, fancy look of the place and the barbers fool you.
Went there after seeing the ad for 1/2 first time haircuts...and it was the roughest haircut I have ever had, almost violent on my scalp. Very unfriendly, barely tried to communicate and seemed very annoyed I asked for the discount. Needless to say no tip was left and I wont return.
Great place to pop into for a quick cut.
Jessica did a great job
Long wait, but a good shampoo, massage and cut
The drying service is a complete fraud. They don´t say about the price but your hair looks like as if you put your dry at home for few minutes... a complete disaster. I want my money back of this service.
The barber rushed my haircut and it turned out horrible. Was very rude in the way she did things. She thrusted my head side to side instead of asking me to tilt my head for her, and after using the trimmer, my scalp and neck were damn near bleeding because she was in such a hurry. Wish I could rate 0 stars.
Jessica Brooks is the only person who has cut my hair in the last 5 years !!
This was a bad haircut. Didnt ask how I wanted it on top, just started cutting and butchered it.
Do NOT get an eyebrow wax here....they’ll take them all off.
TAKES FOREVER THEY JUST TALK AND NOT WORK
Consistent mediocre haircuts
