I’ve been going to this salon for about a couple of years now and can’t imagine going anywhere else. Sue cuts, colors and styles my hair and does such a wonderful job at making me feel beautiful.If I have a question about the style, or a hair product, she gives me her honest opinion.It’s a relaxing atmosphere at the salon and we can talk about whatever comes to mind.Sue has been very fair about the pricing and keeps it consistent and doesn’t raise the price so that I always know what to expect.This salon also offers nail services and from what I’ve observed, it’s also a very relaxing atmosphere.There are other services they provide and it’s easy to find out everything on your phone or computer, including pricing on their website.

Sue is a great hair dresser! My mom first introduced me to her when I was still in high school (probably back in 2013/2014) and now several years later and several miles away we continue to make the drive from Denver/flight from Florida to go to have Sue cut our hair. We’ve tried other hair dressers but only Sue is able to cut our thick and difficult hair. My mom also now wears a hijab and Sue graciously accommodated an early appointment time where there would be complete privacy. Sue is great, prices are very reasonable, and the salon is always kept clean. We wouldn’t keep coming back despite living far away if it wasn’t worth it.

7/18/21: I called today to see if they could cut and style my wife hair for date night. Luckly they had an opening. They took 20 min total and her hair looks exactly the same. No styling was done, and was charged $50. I may not know much about women hair cuts/styling, but 20 min seems extremely quick. The shortest time I remember it ever taking in the past was 1 hr. Will not recommend.

Sue is a great hairdresser; great cut even with my crazy thick hair, and she is very knowledgeable (recommended a bigger chop since my hair was so dead at the ends). She managed to get me the perfect amount of wave with a perm, even with my stick straight hair! Cant wait to come back

Chris did a miracle I am naturally blond and had dyed my hair deep cherry red and he was able to bleach it out with no damage to my hair and the blond I received was even better than my natural hair color!

Chris did an amazing job on my hair. He was able to fix my box dye hair that had turned black from repeated dyes and was able to lighten and highlight my hair in the most amazing way. Extremely fun to talk to, too! Will definitely be returning.

I got a perm here and it turned out great. Sue did a consult and started with the haircut and rod size choices. The shop was clean and nicely decorated. I have not gotten my hair professionaly done in a long time so I had some nerves sitting in the chair, but Chris put me at ease. We discussed a plan to fix what i had done to my hair and I couldnt be happier with the outcome! The black I had been coloring with was a hard cover. Chris was able to give me highlights all the way through to soften and lighten me up and the cut he gave was spot on for me. Thanks Chris for a great experience!

I noticed that Sue gets some negative reviews here so I just wanted to give my positive experience! I Love going to Sue every time I need a touch up over the past couple years. Sue is honest with what she see’s if you have damaged hair but she takes care of your hair and tries her best to achieve what you want. I went to Sue the first time I bleached my hair lighter back in 2018. I have gone to many hair colorists in the past off and on but Sue is the only one who I have been happy with the costs and the quality after! I don’t have much money to splurge so knowing a hair colorist who is affordable and does quality work is such a blessing! I always spend under 200 dollars to get my hair done by Sue which is such a great price for what she does (hair dying + trim). I Highly recommend Sue for your hair coloring needs! I will attach before and after photo of my most recent hair coloring appointment (from Dec 28th) where Sue brightened up my brassy looking blonde. I love it and am very happy with the results!

I went in to have my long hair all over highlighted. Chris did such an amazing job! He took time to make sure my hair looked good! I love what he did! My hair is really long so it took a long time to highlight but, Chris didn’t mind. The highlights look natural! Chris is by far the best hair stylist!

I had healthy long hair, down to my lower waist, I went in for a curly perm hoping to keep some length, I was ok with cutting off some of it. The stylist showed me how much she was going to cut, which was about 2 to 3 inches, I was ok with it. She cut about 8 inches off my hair leaving me with shoulder length hair. The curls are beautiful, but there was no need to cut that much hair. I cant wait for my hair to grow back. Mind you, I showed her a picture of what I was looking for. Not happy with the result really

I really recommend A Zen Salon and Spa. Everyone is super friendly and nice. Im half African American and had really dry and curly hair. It was like a full on afro!! The curls were so tight and dry I couldnt even brush through it, it was so course. So I came and got a hair straightening treatment. ALL of the curls relaxed and I now have really nice stright hair! Ive been coming here for 3 years. (Every six months for root touch ups.) Its so nice being able to enjoy all of the freedom of having stright hair that I was missing out on before. I attached a before photo (*I blurred out my face*) and a mirror picture of how I was able to style my stright hair for Homecoming last year! Im very happy with my hair straightening treatments.

Zen Salon is by far one of the best hair salons in Colorado Springs. I have been coming here for over 5 years! Zen is run and owned by Sue she is incredibly kind, professional and has a lot of experience. The shop is clean, the stylists are skilled, professional, and the atmosphere very relaxing.I have actually had complete hair disasters where I thought box color and overcorrecting with box color was the right thing to do... Sue and Zen Salon have always fixed my hair and made it look incredible. My sister, mom and friends now frequent here for color, perms, cuts, waxing, nails, you name it!!!! One of the best things is it’s a one stop shop. Prices are very reasonable and the service is top notch! After every color they always provide a cut and style no questions asked. Called at around 2 asking for a same day cut and color. I was very clear that I knew it was a long shot, I’d been turned down by a few salons and it was not a big deal. He said yes enthusiastically and I went there. I told him on the phone I was a medium blonde wanting to go silver and a cut to my shoulders. He said that shouldn’t be a problem. I showed up and I’ll condense what happened but he kept trying to convince me to get highlights after I made myself perfectly clear each time I did not want that. He even said “other girls who come in here love highlights”. He kept saying it would take too much bleach and he’d have to use foil if he did it same day. Then he said he couldn’t do it because it would be $600. He talked down to me, mansplained what bleach does to your hair to me, and after all that, I got the cut done. Went to Floyd’s99. Definitely was not $600 😂😂

I came into the salon needing a color correction. Chris took a lot of time with me explaining what he needed to do to make it right. It took a few hours, but the color came out beautifully. Then with the precision cut he did, I walked out with stunning hair. I couldn’t be happier. I highly recommend this place and Chris!

The worst attitude and lacking of professionalism Ive experienced in a long while. As it is defined in my book The scissors sharpeners guide book sharpeners are NOT solicitors but vendors. I am also a stylist and once salon owner myself. Attitudes matter. It does NOT serve me well to leave a negative review bc stylist are my boss but when I leave a negative review it is well founded.

I got the permanent hair straightening treatment a week ago by Sue. She did such a fantastic job and I will be back for my next root touch-up. She was very detailed and made sure to get every single curl on my head. She was also very gentle and I left with silky hair. Thank you, Sue!!- Sidenote, I was using Aveda products and my hair always felt dry (I know partially due to hard water and the air here). However, I bought Biolage Hydra Source shampoo and conditioner from Sue and my hair feels glorious!

I had an appointment today at this salon. I walked in and was not acknowledged. A male employee looked my way, then proceeded with whatever he was doing. I stood there waiting and decided to leave. I have no call from the company about missing my hair appointment or trying to reschedule me. I went down the street. I got a great haircut for a better price.

I was a little disappointed that the details I left in my online appointment setup werent read. When she saw my hair she told me it was too long to hold a perm. She was honest that she didnt think it would work and would be a waste of money. Earns five stars from me for integrity.

I absolutely love this salon!!! I found this salon about 10 years ago when I needed desperately to have my hair colored for an event in my life on short notice. My regular gal wasnt available. I made a call to A Zen Salon and explained my dilemma. They were so understanding and fit me in right away. One trip to A Zen Salon and I was hooked and I havent visited another salon since! The staff is phenomenal! This is a great full service salon! Color, cuts, waxing, pedicures, manicures you name it they do it and I tell all my female friends about this salon. I even sent my son for a waxing! They use the latest products, they offer advice on how to take care of my hair, they are flexible and do an amazing job. Sue is tops! I have had my hair done for years but never have been this happy with the great customer service and the awesome job they do with my hair, nails, and brows. Love Love Love this salon!

Conveniently located on academy in Colorado Springs. They do mens hair and have straightened my wifes hair in the past. My wife has very curly hair so keeping it straight can be a chore for her. They offer semi permanent hair straightening so she had less maintenance to keep it from curling back up or frizzing. Highly recommend A Zen Salon for both men and womens haircuts.

I dont typically feel compelled to write reviews but I absolutely must for this amazing salon! Sue has such wonderful talent and vision. She was able to transform a bad cut I had received elsewhere into the cutest cut I have ever had! With just a few pictures and questions answered, she was able to see exactly what I was looking for and somehow made it even better than I thought it would be! She styled it for me and gave me tips on how to get more texture too. Sue really knows what she is doing and I will be trusting her with my hair from now on!

After reading many reviews online, I decided to give A Zen Salon & Spa a try. It was fantastic. I had Chris as my stylist. He was incredibly professional and knew exactly what he was doing. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and that was what I got. I was in and out within about 25-30 minutes. When Ive typically gotten my hair done in the past its taken 45 minutes. It was the fastest, most efficient, and one of the best haircuts that Ive had. Im incredibly pleased with this salon.

On a whim I had decided to get my hair permed so I looked up salons near me and Zen Salon popped up and had great reviews so I decided to go check it out. I walked it and was greeted immediately. I had discussed what I wanted to do with my hair and Sue assured me it could be done. I decided to book an appointment for as soon as possible and left feeling confidant that my hair would be in good hands. the day of my appointment came and unfortunately I got a bit lost but Sue was extremely understanding was greeted me warmly when I arrived a bit late. Sue listened to my concerns about the perm, I had had people melt my hair in the past so as confidant as I was I was also very nervous. She did an olapex treatment on my hair since I had been coloring for a while and after the treatment she proceeded with the perm. I was so grateful that the perm was not one of the smelly perms from back in the day. She was very precise on the timing of the perm and checked the progress throughout to make sure it was taking and that nothing bad was happening to my hair which really put me at ease and in the end I came out with the curls I desired and kept all but an inch of length on my hair ( I was in dire need of a trim before the process). I would highly recommend Zen Salon for your hairstyling needs.

My entire experience from the phone call to walking out was beyond amazing!!! I called for a same day full highlight and cut. Sue was able to get me in within a few hours and as soon as I walked in, she was there to greet me with a welcoming smile! I showed her what I wanted and she went above and beyond my expectations. I wish I could figure out how to post my before and after pics. Going in my hair was beyond dead. No volume, split ends, just completely lifeless. I walked out with healthy fuller hair with the EXACT color I wanted! My hair is very thin and she gave me so much advice on how to take care of it and gave me a lot of recommendations. I went into this salon with bright pink hair and desperately wanted it back to a normal color. Sue (their color specialist) was honest in the options that were possible and it ended out being wonderful. I love what she did with it and I finally feel normal again. The haircut she gave me is wonderful as well! It suits my face shape and I hardly have to do anything with it to make it look lovely. I would definitely go back if I lived in the area!

I called ahead to book a appointment and warned Mr.chris that I had curly hair. I drove in the middle of a flash flood once I arrive he said he doesnt do black hair. I looked at him baffled. Honestly made me cry I wouldnt ever go back.

I have had my hair done at top salons in Tokyo, London, and New York and now that I am living in Colorado Springs, I am happy to keep going back to Zen. I have been going to Sue for the past few years, and even though Ive moved up to Fort Collins, I still make a trip down every few months to have her cut my hair. Not only is she affordable, shes also knowledgable and great at what she does! Ive never liked all the drawn out small talk that comes with expensive salons, and I never feel like that happens with her. Shes quick and efficient, and I always leave more than satisfied.

This place is wonderful! I had a horrific bleach job from another salon. The stylist here was able to do a fantastic job Ive been here quite a few times for color correction as well as deep conditioning treatment and the results are great! She did what I wanted, which was a very risky style (asymetrical super short cut)but gave her professional opinion which was great. I had the yuko hair straightening treatment done by Sue a week ago and I have to say that my hair was transformed from being very curly and frizzy to super straight, and silky smooth. I found Zen Salon & Spa through my mom. My mom had gotten a perm and when I saw it, it was exactly what I have been wanting for YEARS. I was excited when my mom made me an appointment for when I was coming up to visit. Having had perms before I had a few hesitations as my first perm made me look like Michael Jackson which was not a very good look on a 15 year old girl lol. I had to cut off about 6–8 inches of my hair so that it would grow out properly. My second perm was the exact opposite of the first one (which was wayyyyy too tight) the second one was too loose and only lasted for about a month or two. I have waited 2 years just so that I would be able to find a place that would give me exactly what I want. And that’s what Sue did for me, she was so amazingly friendly and welcoming and made the salon feel like a home. I have never met a hairstylist that could actually do my hair correctly due to it’s different textures and such and the amount of hair I have. Sue was amazing at making sure all of my hair matched textures all around. I loved my experience and I wish I could move here just so that I could go to this salon more often. No ones ever been able to do exactly to my hair what I want and I have finally found someone who can! I found Zen in 2009 when I was looking for a professional hair colorist close to where we lived. I instantly felt that Sue just got it when I described what I wanted . Thanks to her technical expertise the result is consistently subtle and sleek.( And Ive had my share of hair color surprises in the past - shiver ).Weve moved since but I gladly make the 18 mile drive for Sues touch.

I went here cause my mom and sister both go here I figured why not try it out. Well I was trying to schedule with their stylist I tried for two weeks and still no reply so I decided to go with chris he seemed knowledgeable. I have only dyed or highlighted my hair once so I wasn’t sure which color I wanted I had an idea but I guess it was not possible to do it unless I dyed my whole head and then added highlights. So I was torn between lowlights and Baylayge style. My appt was 1:15 but I can 10 min early to look at the colors and get input . After discussing what I originally wanted was not possible unless I did a lot of other work . I had 2 things in mind as a stylist you should give input on things if a client asks which they believe is better . Well he didn’t he said all colors pretty much would look good on me it’s a matter of opinion which I don’t believe that every color would look good . Then after 20-30 min of him talking about the colors and what he can do . He said he doesn’t want to do my hair, because I’m unsure what I want, which is false I had an idea in mind he couldn’t do it and then I had 2 options I just needed his professional opinion . And so it was a waste of time then he said to get another stylist opinion and maybe he will do my hair after I know exactly what I want. Why would I come back? As a stylist you should be able to discuss what would look good on the face shape and color . It is what it is it’s very unprofessional from the get go I shouldn’t have came when I didn’t hear back after multiple attempts to contact Katie, that should have been the first red flag . I am new to Colorado springs and took a chance on going to this salon. I found Zen salon did even better than that and turned it into the cut and color perfectly. They do good job listening to what you want. I would highly recommend Zen salon.

Sue did an amazing job fixing my hair after a terrible balayage at another place. I had no idea what to do, and she got me in and immediately came up with a plan. I am so in love my hair now! It looks amazing and I will definitely be sending my friends to Zen Salon! Thanks for saving me!

Its been 2+ years I have been going to A Zen Salon and I never thought of trying a different place. Sue is absolutely fantabulous in hair styling. I get a lot of compliments on my hair, and have referred co-workers.

Sue does an outstanding job. She has excellent credentials and always does my hair just as I want it. She is a great colorist and stylist. The salon also has a comfortable vibe. When I am there I feel very welcome.

Just went there for my first appointment. The place smelled a little funny, but I got a decent haircut for a very decent price. Also I think I was in and out of there in 30 mins, which was a huge plus for me. Will definitely go again.

When I first moved to Colorado Springs a year ago, I had a hard time finding a stylist who could do my hair correctly. I searched local salons and Zen Salon popped up. I made an appointment and hoped for the best. Well, I have been going there ever since. The hair color Sue gave me was so warm and rich. I would recommend Zen Salon to anyone!

Thanks Sue! This review is long overdue! I moved to Colorado Springs 7 years ago, and spent the first 3 trying to find the right stylist. I tried one after the other, which all came highly recommended. Then, I finally found Sue at Zen! Before that, I just thought that it was typical to leave the salon thinking Ill get used to it. After 3-4 times at each salon, I knew it was time to switch again....finally, I found Zen Salon. Sue is an expert. She always gives me the color and cut I desire. The only suggestion I have is that the Salon needs to be updated. Besides that, the staff is super friendly and great at their trade!

I walked in with all natural 4c hair and walked away with it pin straight. The Yuko hair straightener is such an amazing product and the stylist did such an amazing job. I am definitely going to be going back for my touch up!

Sue is who I have been looking for many years. Not only did she work miracles on getting me on my way to going all natural, she gave me a cut that Ive hoped someone to give me and never got. Her attention to detail was outstanding. Thank you again Sue!

I recently went Paul Mitchells School for my highlights and after four hours i was NOT impressed! My hair came out a mixture of orange and bright yellow chunks, not to mention the front of my head wasnt even touched. I couldnt believe my hair came out that way! I immediately made an appt with Sue at A Zen Salon for color correction. She did such an amazing job in HALF the time! I wish i could attach a photo for you all to see. Im very happy with my hair. Its exactly what i wanted.

Ive been going to Sue at Zen Salon for 2 years. She does BEAUTIFUL color!! Recently, while out of town I ended up having to go to another stylist and my hair was ruined. I went to Sue to fix it and she did a GORGEOUS job! My hair was very fried, but she was able to color it and give it a deep conditioning treatment and we had to take of 2 inches, but I left feeling so much better! She took what I thought was a ruined mess and made my hair pretty and healthy (or at least on the way back to healthy!) I recommend Sue to anyone who is looking for great color with no damage!

I did the Yuko hair straightening about a month ago. I wanted to wait to write a review until I could see how it lasted long term. Before I had it done, I had very thick curly hair on the under half of my head and wavy hair on the top. It was extremely unmanageable and unless I was prepared to spend over an hour straightening it, I would always just wear it up. My hair looks as good now as it did right after it was done. I can dry it and have it styled in 15 minutes. It was definitely worth the money

I had the Yuko straightening on my hair. Sue did a phenomenal job. I am so impressed. My hair was ridiculously curly, and unmanageable. Now 4 minutes with a blow dryer using just my fingers and my hair is beautiful and perfectly straight. I cant say enough good things about Sue and the yuko straightening. Highly recommend!!!
