So far I have loved it here, the apartments are beautiful, the amenities are quality, I love Sheryl so much. Work orders are answered promptly. I feel like all my friends growing up had nice places like this, but not me. Now I have something that feels like home but also feels nice! Like really nice! The management is competent, experienced, trustworthy. I love it here.
We’re new residents but so far we are pleased with our experience. The front office staff is kind and personable and when I put in a work order they showed up within 45 min. I’m quite impressed so far.
I’ve lived here for almost two years now. I did have an issue with someone who no longer works here but since that person is gone, things are really good. Maintenance is absolutely phenomenal. They get things done very quickly. But, I wish we had more sidewalks to walk the property. It’s a beautiful property but there really isn’t a lot of walking area AROUND the property. I am hoping the gates get fixed, the dumpster issue is really frustrating. But I love the office staff, maintenance is definitely better since that guy left and I love the renovations. The property is starting to look absolutely stunning
Great place to live! The office staff are very helpful and responsive. The maintenance staff are responsive and know how to get a job done! The renovations are beautiful!!!
Shannon in maintenance is amazing. He’s always been on top of our maintenance requests and is super friendly. Without him we would have moved a lot sooner.
I recently moved into a new renovated apartment and I am loving it! The apartment came with new stainless steel appliances with brand new carpet and vinyl to match. The cream color walls makes the place feel more warm and relaxing. Not to mention the kitchen has solid granite countertops and new wood cabinets. The apartment also came with its own washer and dryer.
My friends live there, and cant stop boasting about the new upgrades, the windows, siding and paint. They are on the waiting list for the newly remodeled units which are beautiful and modern. They also continue to tell me how awesome their maintenance man Shannon is. Im really considering moving there....
They recently renovated the outsides of the buildings, which look amazing. They upgraded the windows and the sliding glass doors, new siding, and a new paint job. They also have plans to begin renovations to the inside of the apartments as well. The apartment we have is fairly quiet and dont hear a lot of outside noise. The neighbors have been pretty cool too. We unintentionally had an issue with one other resident but he wrote us a sweet note and it was resolved very quickly, respectfully, and amicably.Shannon is awesome. Our shower door wasnt flush, so water was leaking on our bathroom floor. He came very quickly and fixed it. We have a broken door to our laundry room, but that is currently on order for a new one. Otherwise we havent had any other maintenance issues. Sheryl and Aubrey have been great too. They even have a cute dog park by the leasing office that my dogs love.
Not worth it, people fight and scream all the time almost every weekend and “security” is trash never comes and when he does he just parks in the entrance and sleeps. There are literal fist fights all the time at night in the parking lot and no one ever comes. Even towed my car, which I pay for to be parked here, because it had a flat and now I have to pay out of pocket. All the doorknobs in here are falling apart and every door creaks when opening or closing.
I am so happy and impressed with the construction company doing the window and siding work on our homes. They are polite, respectful and are really hard workers. They’re never idle or loud or messing around and do beautiful, quality work. Just wanted to let you know and hopefully pass on to the company so the workers can be recognized. Thank you for carefully selecting a team that is right for the job.
Awesome place to live!Ive been living here for a little over two years, and love it. I lived here for a year and ended up having to leave for a job opportunity in Denver. Fast forward 2 months, and I was back in the Springs. I called the office and talked to Sheryl who was more than helpful in getting me back in an apartment. They waived my fees as a returning resident, and had me in that Friday. Awesome experience.I had a few issues in my apartment that Shannon took care of right away. I got a phone call at work from him letting me know what was done and that it was fixed. Thats top notch service in my opinion. The property just got a huge upgrade with new siding and paint, which looks sharp. They also just replaced all those horrible aluminum framed windows and sliding doors with beautiful new vinyl frames. The property looks great.Price per square foot cant be beat, and Ive always had cool neighbors. Cant wait for the pools to open up again this summer.
Had a maintenance issue with our refrigerator and Nate from Maintenance showed up and fixed the issue within a couple of hours. Great response time.
My girlfriend and I were given a move-in date but no lease to sign. After we told them multiple times that our lease for our current apartment was up soon, they still would not give us said lease, being very dismissive and even telling my significant other you have more than a month, sweetie, dont worry about it. After no contact in weeks, we called to see what was up, only to be told our apartment would not be ready and they forgot to call us. Now I am scrambling for a home while they get to twiddle their thumbs and say nothing more than oops. Thanks, guys! If you want last minute anxiety and a who cares? attitude, look no further!
Planning on moving in mid-spring so I have been driving several apartment communities prior to scheduling an appoint for a tour. Most of the places Ive been so far were so bad on the outside I had no interest in viewing the inside. The communities that were nice enough on the outside did not contain nice employees. Today I finally caught a break! I drove this community and have to say I was very impressed with all the outside improvements they have in progress. I was also able to chat with Shannon, one of the maintenance men, who informed me they are updating the apartment interiors as well. I can officially say that I have found my new home! I cant wait to meet the office staff once I schedule my community tour. If they are anything like Shannon I know they will be very helpful and informative while assisting me through their application process.
We were evicted for the renovations. They wanted the apartment completely cleaned out. We were offered a new unit at double the price and only if there was one available. We were given a month to find a new home, in the middle of the pandemic. So whatever goodness this place did has soured for me and my family.
I love this apartment. But what I love the most is the maintenance man Shannon! He always comes and does a fantastic job and in such a timely manner and well. Even if something has to be ordered to be fixed he makes sure you are kept in the loop. His work is top tier. He even chats with the kiddos when they are curious about what he is fixing. Would give ten stars if I could
My husband and I loved everything about this community. The location and parking lots were extremely comfortable and cozy, but most importantly, the staff were amazing,Especially Elise. she was always making sure that everything is good for us from the first month until now. She is very kind. I have been at this community for two years. She helped us with every issue we faced in our apartment. My family loves her and the staff. Definitely I will recommend this community to my friends.
The people here are great! My fridge went out.The maintenance people came by rather quickly and were able to get it going.Had some great conversation with the guy too! Thanks again NathanHonestly been a good stay for the most part.
Apartments are nice and quiet. Maintenance is awesome. Nathan fixed my stove in a timely fashion!
I really appreciate the people that responded to the reviews they are the nice response to reviews i have seen so far keep it up!!👍👍
My family and I have been here for more than 2 years, and I am planning to live here even more!!It is a great place with wonderful staff. They are friendly, helpful, and always looking after me. In particular, I would love to thank Elise for being very helpful and kind. She is definitely always make sure that we are comfortable here and happy. The prices here are reasonable. The community is safe and always I can find a parking. They also have some activities once a while with a nice prizes especially during COVID-19It is absolutely my favorite community here in Colorado Springs.
Great maintenance staff from what I’ve seen! Apartments look great with the new paint! Nathan is professional and knowledgeable! Great job
The whole stafg is wonderful, the property up grades are looking so beautiful. The new apartment upgrade are amazing. I love living here and plan on staying for years to come. Thank you to the great maintenance staff who are always friendly and efficent.
Elise has been so helpful and informative during this crazy covid -19 process. She cares about residents and Has provided the best apartment experience my family has had in a long time. The Retreat Apartment Community has been so caring and even any work order I have filed has been fixed within a day or 2 at the latest! Lost my mail key which was stressful enough and they had one made the next day. Awesome service ! Thank you
Even though the apartments are pretty old, they started doing exterior renovations. I like having the wood fireplace too. BUT the creaking of the roof from the upstairs is almost unbearable. Its so bad that Im thinking of leaving because of it. I can hear them closing their cabinets, them talking, the toilet flushing, and them walking echos the house. If you enjoy the quite this place is not for you.
I love the new exterior updates... Paint and Windows. The staff is wonderful, and the newly remodeled unit with the new cabinets and granite countertop are gorgous. Sheryl and Shannon are amazing!
I lived there a few years ago and loved my apartment and the amenities. Also the office staff was amazing.
I want to express my gratitude to Shannon, an absolute hero maintenance tech at the Retreat! Shannon is obviously very knowledgable in repairs and does so diligently. It is always so easy to have Shannon complete my maintenance requests! Shannon is always ready to help, always doing it right the first time, and always with a smile! It has been an absolute pleasure having Shannon at The Retreat these last two years(or so)!
False advertising on amenities, no pool or gates.. if your vehicle is stolen they dont care. Still refuse to provide assigned parking even with theft climbing. Homeless people living in laundry rooms. When their faulty pipes break and flood your apartment.. expect it to happen multiple times due to bad repairs. Also if it leaves you un liveable due to flooding expect no sympathy from the office. No rent reduction if their repairs take longer than a week. Resulting in over half apartment being un usable. Company doesnt stand behind residents and no assistance for covid besides moratorium guidelines providing protection.
The property management team at this property is amazing. They are receptive to concerns on the property. They are on call to help with any immediate issues. I would recommend anyone to live at this apartment. The location is fabulous and they have 3 pools.
Nathaniel came to fix our thermostat today bc its been on the fritz all week. He was in and out in a flash. Seems to be working great now. Thanks Nathan.
I would like to give a shout out to Elisa, she has been amazing through out this COVID 19. She makes me feel comfortable and at ease with just everything going on. She is definitely my go to person to talk to about anything with living at the Retreat.
When I moved in elise was very accommodating and nice to work with through the whole process. She answered all of my questions, and even gave my dog a treat during our visit! Every time I go to the office I prefer to go through Elise as she is always very upbeat and professional. Overall me and my girlfriend have been really pleased with our experiences and service during our residency here.
Whenever I request maintained for an issue, Shannon is the the only person I request. His work ethics and professionalism are amazing. Not only does he complete what I requested, he also goes into detail with the reason why issues occur. This helps prevent future incidents.
Elise is great whenever i have had an issue or needed something taken care she is always willing to help and she gets things taken care of right away. She is always professional and kind anytime i have had to deal with her she makes interactions lovely
I just recently (Less than 1 week ago) moved out, but wanted to share my experience at the Retreat at Austin Bluffs.I know this complex gets some negative reviews, but my experience here has been completely opposite. I had wonderful, kind and caring neighbors of whom I plan on remaining in touch with. Management was INCREDIBLY responsive to any complaints I had or concerns I had. I had very few maintenance needs, but when I did, the accommodated me amazingly. I work from home so there were certain times I couldn’t have someone just “walk in” and they were understanding and worked with me to ensure both my needs and the complex needs were met. Parking was difficult at first, but the complex removed non-operational vehicles and I never had a far walk since then. For the price you pay, you get a wonderful, warm, cozy apartment. My neighbors were quiet and the only issue with noise I ever experienced was during the summer, but my apartment was right by the pool and it was nice to hear children laughing and smiling. A quick closed window stopped the noise if it got to be too much.If you are considering this complex but are turned off by the negative reviews, i suggest you take a tour of the complex. It’s in a great part of town, and the only reason I moved was because my finances got to the point where I was able to afford an apartment with washer/dryer (Staying with Weidner though!)
Randy took care of a few maintenance issues and was kind, respectful, professional. I appreciate the awesome service he fixed the issue and went above and beyond. A true asset to this apartment community
My wife and I have really enjoyed living at The Retreat for the past 2.5 years. They are constantly making improvements to not only the property/clubhouse, but the buildings and units as well. Whenever we have had issues, the office staff have been quite accomodating. Leonard and the maintenance team are also great and complete work orders in a timely fashion and always do a good job. Overall, we feel like we are getting much more value for the price we are paying. Where we are at in the complex it is very quiet, there is always parking, and the units are well-kept. We definitely would (and have) recommend this place to friends!
Thanks to maintenance man Jo I believe his name is and sharron the housekeeping for helping me get into my car, friendly and supportive community
I really enjoy living here.
I have lived in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom here at The Retreat for 3 1/2 years now. If I ever have maintenance issues they are resolved in a timely manner, there is always plenty of parking in front of my building, and the location is great!
The staff was always nice, and maintenance was always quick to help. But overall, the place was not worth it. Rent + all utilities, we were paying about $1450 for a beat up 3 bedroom apartment. To renew our lease they were going to raise the price about $200. They did a terrible paint job, there was paint on the outlets, paint on the fireplace. The cabinets looked like an animal had chewed on them. The stove was extremely old. Just a totally rundown apartment.
The people at the office and area director were very nice and extremely helpful and accommodating with the entire application and move in process. However, since I’ve moved in I’ve been EXTREMELY disappointed. First day at my apartment I did not have any hot water, the shelf in the fridge was broken, the toilet seat is cracked (and they marked no damage) and I found TWO ROACHES. I called emergency maintenance 3 times and no one answered. I called again in the morning and they were timely with getting my hot water working, but I was told I wouldn’t be able to get my apartment exterminated at the earliest a week later. In the meantime I’ve found FOUR MORE ROACHES. Once the hot water was working, the shower goes from freezing cold to scolding hot without even touching the knob and I spend more time trying to adjust the temperature than showering. The walls are also very thin. First night in my apartment I heard someone in the complex having sex. These apartments are very overpriced for what you get. For an entire week I’ve been woken up by banging and drilling from people working on the outside of the buildings at 7AM. They gave us NO WARNING. Why would they have people start work so early? Residents are trying to sleep! I’m still finding a couple roaches even after the exterminator, roach traps, and raid. The air conditioning wasn’t blowing cool air after running it on the lowest setting for 8 hours it was still cooler outside than it was in the apartment. But maintenance always just a good job at responding and fixing in a timely manner.
This is by far the worst place I have ever lived. I have lived here for 8 months and unfortunately have 2 left to go. Originally I planed to renew my lease because I found out Im pregnant and didnt want a big move, however since I got a noise complaint (because of my niece crying and having a fit like kids do) they refused to Renew my lease. The people across the hall from me are absolutely psychos and get drunk all the time and scream at each other, this has happened 3 times since we have lived (at 5am) here the first two times we just let it go and ignored it both times no complaints to the officiant or anything the cops came Both times. Early again today they started arguing as loud as can be at 5am and I had been up all night considering Im 9 month pregnant my husband opened the door and told them if they didnt stop that he was going to call the cops and our psycho neighbor tried to shove his way into the apartment and later the cops came yet again and arrested the crazy. I e mailed the front office and I still have yet to hear anything back its very uncomfortable living here with crazy neighbors. Also while we have lived here there have been 5 car break ins right outside of our complex but I still have yet to see security. The front office staff is the worst, with the exception of Sheryl. All the girls are extremely rude and snappy. They are always doing some type or construction or they are always replacing something or checking something and they will just come into your apartment even if your not there. Very comforting! If you just love psychos, car break ins, fights in the parking lot at all hours of the nights, and snappy women this is defiantly the place for you!
When my family first moved in 10 years ago, the apartment complex was absolutely beautiful. Maintenance kept up on the property, management used to do background checks and the property was mostly retirees, but noise and crime was still maintained. Over the years there has been a decline in the upkeep, but rent goes up every time you resign the lease-where does the money go? The lobby was redone a few years ago but most apartments still have outdated appliances that they wont replace because they still work. Our stove gets hot to the touch on the outside-I dread a family with small children moving in after us. The bathrooms are out of code, the tiles are glued to cardboard. Our floor is caving in and the carpet wasnt replaced when we moved in. Maintenance no longer cares about the outside of the property either. They do a patch job on sidewalks when it snows but they dont shovel the parking lot anymore, so cars get stuck trying to get in and out and they dont put salt down. The gates never work, and our security is a joke. The guard is more concerned with fining people for out of date tags than enforcing apartment policy, and since they dont do background checks anymore theres a lot of noise at night, including fighting and music, and theres a lot of crime. Management has been writing everybody back about their concerns, but its just for show. What everybody else says about the property falling apart is absolutely true. I wouldnt recommend this place to anybody, young or old, family or new couples, youll get trapped in a complex that doesnt care about its tenants.
I would not recommend. There is nowhere near enough parking and people leave their non functioning vehicles in the same spot for months on end. People yell and fight in the parking lot at all hours of the night. One night I was startled out of sleep around 2 am by someone smashing a cars windows out with a pipe. The pool and hot tub are out of order more than they actually work. They also will raise your rent significantly every year that you live there. I lived there for three years and my rent went from 650 up to 850. People also leave their dogs feces all over the grassy areas. You can do better than this place.
Honestly, if I could give this place 0 stars I would. From the gross carpet that should have been replaced before I moved in that gave me rashes when I sat on the floor, insulation so horrible that if you walked by a window in the winter time you could literally feel a cold breeze, the constant construction taking place on property that almost always ended up taking longer than expected, the crazy neighbor that lived above me and would scream bloody murder in the middle of night, the disgusting & poorly kept pool area making swimming in that water terrifying, the appliances looking like they were straight out of the 90s & the outdated linoleum floors, the LEAD PAINT ceilings, the fact that anyone can park there, so finding a spot that not 4 streets away is nearly impossible, the inconsistent information youd receive depending on who you talked to at the front office, to the borderline useless maintenance staff that fixed things with bubblegum & duct tape.I paid an ungodly amount to deal with a front office staff that quite frankly, didnt give a damn about you or what youd expect for your $925 a month. I had 2 serious incidents that took place that I felt like I needed to beg for assistance with. #1 One of the many scummy neighbors surrounding this complex straight stole my $250 snowboarding jacket right out of washing machine, and when I went to the office I learned there are not only no cameras by the laundry rooms, but literally none anywhere in the whole place. #2 I had my bedroom window broken. When I told the office, none of them had any concern at all for the fact that Im a 20 something year old woman living alone. Instead of taking care of it for me, all they did was write down the phone number I needed to call. It was so hard to get in contact with someone from the company, and when I finally did, it was a 2 week wait until they could send someone. If a complex were to have called, it would have been considered an urgent matter and they would have sent someone right away. But instead I had to go way too long with a garbage bag taped over a broken window.Moral of the story- The only reason I ended up living in this garbage complex was because I was moving from out of state and options were limited. Seriously, if youre looking for a place to live PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE BS AND LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. Unless this is your last resort, a cardboard box would suit you better.
The Retreat at Austin Bluffs Apartments is a reasonable priced and safe community undergoing some nice renovations. The staff is friendly and the grounds are clean. There is always plenty of parking.- David Gutierrez, #4
If I could give zero stars I would. Ive lived in a few apartments in Colorado Springs, some nicer, some not so nice and I got to say this is the WORST place Ive ever lived. I lived in the GHETTO on Murray and Platte and was happier. The staff is average usually. Sheryl is amazing, but Sean.... oh my God.... Sean is the worst manager ever. Its hard to realize at first because his TONE is always so quiet and polite, but he is ALWAYS condescending towards me when we speak and is completely heartless and stubborn when it comes to things like fees. I have NEVER been responsible for a late rent payment in the 6 years Ive lived here off and on over the last 8 years, until this week. And it was because they save your checking info and I got a new bank and forgot to update it when I processed my rent payment. When it returned I immediately corrected it and attempted to pay the balance with my new checking/debit card. Despite it being a simple clerical error due to the account loading automatically, I was charged a $50 return fee, and despite my 6 years of living here, Sean refused to waive the fee ONE TIME, and told me they had waived late fees for me in the past. I have never been late even once. Its ridiculous and I am tired of being treated like a sub-class human when I talk to him.And on to the tangible stuff. These apartments arent in HORRIBLE shape, they definitely upkeep your incredibly OLD appliances when something breaks, but our rent is over $1000 every month to live in a place with the worst parking in the city, a dishwasher that is from the 1970s, and a window that took them a YEAR to fix after a hail storm. I lived here for four years before moving out three years ago and back in a year ago again, and the place has had ZERO improvements, yet my rent in the SAME two bedroom apartment went from $650 per month to $968. Talk about capitalizing on the market, because there is nothing about these apartments that justifies that cost other than the fact that other apartments are raising prices. Greedy company.Oh, and the gate. We pay MORE to have a Secure parking lot that has a retractable gate at each entrance. 9 months out of the year, they dont work. When they do work, they are a terrible pain in the ass, especially if you are a night owl or want company.I can not stress to you enough how adamantly I believe that this place should be torn down and rebuilt before anyone should make the mistake of living here. They simply dont care about the residents, they just want to squeeze EVERY DIME out of you that they can, no matter what it means.Dont move here.Run away.I would like to add today (months after this review) that I had a mix up with paperwork with my disability leave company so I did not receive a paycheck at all at the end of December. I got help from a third party company to pay my rent for January since I had no other option. I asked the same manager from the apartment complex if they could please waive this late fee as a courtesy since there has not been a fee waived in the past due to a mistake that was made by me, only when there was an error made by the apartment. His answer was no, Im already helping you out quite a bit because we didnt send your account over to an attorney for collection of the late rent this month, which saved you $270. They already worked out the payment with the company helping me, there should be no reason to send that to an attorney anyway. Not to mention, isnt that an extreme measure to take when we made arrangements for the payment?I wish I could afford to live somewhere else because these people just dont care about us and Im guessing somehow he makes more money by not helping people because I cant imagine any other reason not to try helping.F+ on a good day.
This is my first apartment and one of the worst experiences I ever experienced. I cant wait for my lease is up!! Walls are way to thin. Carpet is falling apart. Everything is way outdated. This is one of the worst places to live.
The apartments are big for their size; for instance a 1 bedroom is 700 sq. ft. where most places are usually around 550-600. Had an instance of a continuous loud neighbor, but once we told the office we havent had a problem since. The buildings and appliances are a little old, but they have recently re-done the pavement in the parking lot and started to make improvements to the outsides of the buildings as well. Overall a good place to live with all the basic amenities you need.
Ive only been here a couple months and dont have anything negative to say about it. When my A/C wasnt working I submitted an work order through the website while I was at work and when I got home they had already came through and fixed it. Havent been in the pools yet but they look alright, the 24hr little weight room isnt bad to get some cardio in. No matter what apt complex you live at, there is always going to be potential thievery. LOCK your car doors and house doors and it will diminish the problem. Common sense...
I honestly like this complex. The facility is close to quite a few food markets and fast food restaurants. Walmart less then a mile west down Austin Bluffs. Pools are clean and in good condition, decent gym. Staff that I met were friendly. Only complaint is the complex is a bit dated and some stains in the carpet and damage to the kitchen floor from s previous tenant.
The walls in the complex are paper thin, so youll hear everything. You might as well be in the same room as your neighbor. The sidewalks and roads are never plowed or salted after snowfall so youll constantly fall on ice or slide doing 5 to 10mph trying to leave the complex. This community is not safe what so ever as they do not do background checks on their residence beforehand and people steal out of your car. The gates that are supposed to make it a gated community never work, so there is no amount of safety and the so-called security that is supposed to monitor the cul-de-sac is never around. The staff, especially the manager are rude and dont care about any type of complaint you make they all just put you off because they still get paid. Also the pool and indoor hot tub are almost always closed for maintenance that never happens, which usually means they dont pay for a cleaner because theyre cheap.
Ill start by saying what I did like. The rent was really cheap compared to a lot of over priced apartments here in the springs. When we first moved in we got a really good deal and the staff was nice. Once we actually moved in thats when it went down hill. They are actually 1 of the most inexpensive spacious 1 bedrooms in the city. Its in a fairly good area youre in the middle of the city so it doesnt take too long to get where you need to be. Another good thing with a $250 deposit we got back $200 with is really good compared to what a lot of apartments try to find to charge you in the end. Only thing I didnt like is that they make you call and set up the carpet cleaning and you have to pay unlike other apartments will have it set up n just take it out of the deposit. They will actually charge you almost the price of the carpet cleaning to call and have it set up.First off the apartments are old! And it definitely smelled that way. They supposedly put new carpet in here but it smelled like old people and cigarettes! It was so strong it was in my clothes and people could smell it when I was at work. (Not OK!) So they came out and used some oxygen machine which still didnt work.(they did that twice) So my husband and I just figured something out ourselves to get the smell out. The appliances are out dated and to get a renovated apartment its not worth the extra money their trying to charge.Second the walls are way too thin! You can literally hear everything! I could hear my upstairs neighbors having relations multiple times a day. I could hear them taking showers, like it was coming from my apartment. The worst part about that is that the would shower all times of the night and day. I really never got any good rest unless I slept in my living room during the day when they werent home. I could also hear the neighborhood across the hall; dog barking all day and all night!Lastly, the staff was nice overall I would say but they are not on the same page. 1 would tell you something then another would tell you the complete opposite! Which is not good when in a business or anything dealing with someones money.
Terrible- If I could give them no stars I would. The staff has terrible attitudes and dont handle things promptly or correctly. They dont want to give us our deposit back, although they didnt have our apartment ready when they were suppose to and we never moved in. I will never recommend this place to any of my friends. If you want to save yourself some money and also a headache, make wiser choices.
It was alright. The apartment wasnt too bad itself. One of the better apartments out there. Not too many thing broke. Small parking lot though.
Honestly the worst place Ive ever lived. Ive lived there for 3 years and their standards have just gotten so lowered. When we first moved in out rent was only 850$ that was not a move in special for a two bedroom in 3 years our rent has increased $130 dollars. For what? A gate that doesnt work it chooses different times of night to close, and our gate keys dont ever work! Secondly the grounds are nasty the neighbors litter and pretty much just through their trash over their balcony, Ive caught people literally peeing outside and to top it all off we have a drug dealer who has suspicious people coming and going from his apartment everyday. To top everything off and the reason why I finally had to write a review is that our water heater broke and the maintance had to come fix it. The gentlemen came out apparently shut it off and said he would be back at 8am to replace it but that it shouldnt leak anymore. I get a pounding at 6am!!! Because apparently it was still leaking into the neighbors, I have an infant I dont get sleep as is to pound on my door at 6am is rude and you should have fixed it right the first time. So he does whatever he needed to do and then says someone will be back later to fix it. I get home from work 7 hrs later and they are still working on it. Oh and dont bother complaining to the office because they dont care and will not do anything to help.
As a single mom, safety is important. We have lived here for five months, and we are thrilled. The quality per dollar is better here as opposed to higher-priced alternataives, and the staff, from office to maintenance, has been wonderful and welcoming from day one. The office staff went out of their way to solve a unique problem for me when I applied. And yes, we are safe. The community is friendly (youll never find perfection), and there are lots of dogs...yay! Its easy to meet people. Everything you need is close by, and some even within a pleasant walking distance. The indoor and outdoor pools are great, and I appreciate the diversity of the tenants. There are families, some with special needs, singles, veterans, singles, younger, and older. Many have been here for several years, which says a lot.No, the grounds are not perfect, but they are pretty, with lots of trees and pleasing landscaping in most areas. The head of maintenance plants flowers outside the scope of his job...actions speak louder than words. I see maintenace out every single day, working on improvements, and there have been several noticable ones just in the short time I have had my family here. They work hard here.My family and I are thankful. In short, we are home.
I didnt mind the place. Living here wasnt bad even when dealing with so much construction and the loud neighbors. The staff treated me so terribly at checkout. A gentlemen got very upset with me saying I was liable when I had done everything for the move out by the book and let them know ahead of time. He was all upset with me saying I had not contacted them and he had been calling me all week. I had gotten no calls. I sat there holding my tongue getting chewed out for a few minutes before he realized I was a different person than the one he thought. He did not apologize and the company refuses to respond to my complaints. I would not suggest this place to any friends. No customer should be treated like that even if they are running a little behind on letting the apartments know they are moving out.
I have lived here for 7 months. no problem. I recommend Sheryl Guyer and Jason, in maintenance, is great. Installed a handicap bar for my wife in the shower, and a handicap parking space for my wife in-front of our apartment. I have no complaints.
I dont recommend living here. Sabin Middle School and Doherty High School are the assigned schools and both of them are beyond rough. At the complex the buildings are run down. The appliances are from 1985 and they dont work. But you have to fight for months to get them replaced.Courtney & Alex in the office are the entire reason that this place has any stars. They are excellent at their jobs and customer service.
Please spare yourself and dont move here. I have lived here three times in my life and the most recent was one of the most god awful apartment experiences I have had. Im not asking you not to move here, I am pleading as a person who actually cares about other people, MUCH unlike the staff and maintenance who run this place. They flash their smiles and give you the nicest and most kind attitudes up until the very moment you sign the lease. From there on out it is constant stupidity and chain yanking. Do you love having your apartment fall apart before your very eyes, calling maintenance, and having them do jack about it? Well then the chances are you will adore it here because that seems to be a weekly event in these apartments. Let me tell you, I LOVED showering every morning with a giant gaping hole that let me look straight into the ceiling any time I wanted! It really added to the ambiance of the main bathroom, which had a broken towel rack, and a fan that sounded like a 80 year old senile cat whenever turned on! Really! Some great spa days were had there. And if you think maintenance cared when I called about these things, well, lets just say, I dealt with that hole for months. But that wasnt even my favorite hole! Oh no. My favorite hole was the one in the ceiling in the kitchen, that constantly leaked water down onto my carpets, and kept coming back because much like my lovely bathroom hole, maintenance used the cheapest possible materials to stop the problem. Thankfully though, since Maintenance couldnt be bothered to fix the hole in my living room for DAYS (the first time it happened anyways..) they gave me a ten dollars starbucks card! YAYYY! This 5 dollar latte totally makes up for my soaked counters and carpet, the lovely hole in my ceiling, and the CONSTANT DRIPPING SOUND :)Anyways, long story short, if you love apartments that are constantly falling apart in the most obscene of ways, maintenance that doesnt care about it, rude office staff (minus Cheryl), constantly disgusting pools (dont even get me started on these pools they are horrific and look like pools from 2 star motels), security gates that NEVER work, and getting hustled with made up fees and high rent for low quality apartments then this is the place for you friend :).
It isnt the ghetto, but thankfully I wont be staying here to see that happen. My roommate and I pay almost $1,200 a month for a 2-bedroom with the rent increasing next year while they refuse to provide better security, amenities and service. The appliances are at least 20 years old and it takes months for maintenance to get to you if anything breaks. Ive had the exterminator in here twice for bed bugs and mice; fortunately the former hasnt been a problem since. The pipes leak, the doors break, the outer gates only work when its inconvenient for you. The front office staff, not including Carol, I think her name is, has no earthly clue whats going on and that includes the manager. Though the list isnt long, I can honestly say this is the worst place Ive ever lived and the one or two neighbors I talk to would agree with that. The only chance of getting anything done is to walk in and tell them whats gonna be done and how.
Thought I was going to love it here and havent even lived here a month, the apartments are run down and need redone, you can hear everyone around you, weve got stung 4 times moving in and I called but they wont have anyone come look at the bees until their scheduled day(Im deathly allergic), when I went to get all the stuff I needed to pay I was told it had all been paid, then 3 days later got an email saying she messed up & I really owed almost 400$ more but that it was her mistake and they got us a gift card. They got us a gift card for 10$! 10$ for Starbucks. Do not get a place here. 11 months cannot end sooner.
Worst apartment complex ever, over priced for small apartments, over priced pet fees, make sure you read your fine print, the staff is horrible and unfriendly!!!! Would not reccomend, if I could leave the review with out leaving a star I would they don’t even deserve the one they have
If I could give a 0 I would. Just do yourself a favor another not rent here. The price is not worth the crummy apartments. When we first moved iin it looked as if they didnt even clean. The carpet was ripped in many places from the previous owners. The staff are just rude and some of the most unprofessional people i have had to deal with. If you would like a $600 a month quality place of living, but pay over $1000......this place is defiantly for you.
I have only been here a few months but so far things have been pretty good. I like my apartment and neighbors and I am over all satisfied with the place.Cons- Buildings are due for some maintenance, Parking can sometimes be difficult but the building layout helps this to be a huge problem for some (not me), (I was told a price hike will happen after my first year if I choose to stay{while I understand I can only hope its not much}...this could determine if I waiver some stars)Pros+ Price is very reasonable for my 2bdr./ Location in town is great/ Friendly staff as far as I have seen/ Paying bills is easy online/ Nice floor plans/ Pool and Sauna is nice/ Security camera mail room/ All my amenities work but requested my door seal be repaired it was done promptly albeit not the best work I have seen. meh. it got done cant complain too much.Update to follow-
All in all its decent place to live. Theres things inside the apartments that needs work and I still dont know how to get to the fitness room after hours. It is way over crowded, Its hard to find parking spots unless youre home by 8pm the back gate you can only use a keycard you cant enter your password there. I think for the price they could be a little more well-kept. The staff is great though and they are always there to answer questions and help you with any of your needs. Would recommend apartment complex but if you have young children such as I do I would recommend a 2nd floor because, being on the first floor some of the tenants arent respectful late at night.
I am relocating to the area and I thank everyone for reviewing and letting me know because i changed my mind about these apartments. I will not raise my kids here!!! Thanks again everyone
Roaches, gates that work 30% of the time, to one half size washer and full size dryer for 12 units.I had the largest 1 bedroom. Everyone in the office is nice and friendly. Rent was way to high for the quality and upkeep on the property. Paid $996 on average with water and trash. Apartment was outdated and NONE of the doors worked properly, like being closed but moving in and out an inch or so. Umm paper thin walls, Terible parking.Excellent place to live after bar hoping around Austin bluffs area and Albert tacos is always a plus.Over priced for the quality of experience on property and serounding area.Neighbors are (how can I say this without being flagged?) jerks? Anyway expect loud music and people screaming randomly and Fighting after quiet hours REGULARLY.This ain’t no summer grove so it’s got that going for it, but for $90 more monthly I have my own washer and dryer at epernay w/ a fire place AND more square footage.
Terrible service and will take everything they can when you check out. They are horrible at record keeping and taking information from you. Not to mention they are a horrible at helping out with problems in an apartment. Terrible service, terrible everything simply put. If you do stay at The Retreat, put everything in the check sheet as poor condition because its bound to break because everything is so ancient and old and if it breaks your the one who is going to pay for it.
I have family that lives here... its a resort if youre used to living in a crack neighborhood maybe. Everytime I visit my mom I see mattresses and furniture just sitting out by the dumpsters and my mom said the ones in front of her apartment currently have been there for over 2 weeks and kids keep destroying the furniture making it look even worse but nope, no one is picking it up yet. So overpriced for what is clearly turning ghetto. Also its a gated community but one of the gates has been broken for at least 2 months now and maybe longer thats just what Ive noticed when visiting my mom. It makes me mad my parents are stuck living here paying so much money for a ghetto apartment complex. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to move, I would never recommend this place and Im glad I dont live here.
Have Friends that live there. They Hate it, cant wait until Lease is up. Outdated Appliances, Not enough Kitchen Cabinetry. And all this for 1035.00 a month. Plus entering and exiting Property is a Death Trap.
This rating is for Jason, the maintenance man! I texted the maintenance number saying my fridge wasnt working & we had to throw away food :( In about 15 mins Jason was here to check it out. Not even before the show I was watching was over, he had brought a new, clean fridge..... all the way to the 2nd floor, BY HIMSELF. Having a little one I cannot thank him enough for speedy & friendly service!!
I currently live here and this place is horrible. I can not wait for my lease to be up in February. Christie, the community manager, is a heartless person. I woke up this morning to find my car had been towed. I renewed my tags online and was waiting for my tags to be mailed to me. I have proof that my registration is okay and she wouldnt help me get my car back. Seriously, you had my car towed over not having a piece of paper in my window, when you could have just called or something. I work full time and have a busy life. A little understanding would be appreciated. Anyways, you can walk this apartment complex and see cars that are broken down with windows busted and flat tires and those cars dont get towed. On top of that, I had a work order for them to fix a my leaking fridge and my balcony that smelled like pee for more than 2 months. They finally fixed after I had to throw a fit. She said she would give me a gift card because she couldnt take money off my rent for the inconvenience and said she would have them bring me the card. I never received anything, instead I had to pay FULL rent for and apartment that had a balcony that smelled like pee and I dont even have any pets. The amount of rent they charge, You would think they could give this place a facelift. The apartment complexes are beat up and make the place look kind of run down. . Sadly, Im ashamed I live here. Cant wait to leave, I would suggest not living here, there are better places to stay. The only good thing about this place is Sheryl in the office is super nice. She makes the place somewhat barrable.
My neighbors sell drugs, i was woken up last night by someone violently dumpster diving (who knew that was possible), my car has been broken into twice in 6 months in this parking lot, we heard 4 gunshots a few days ago, the gate was suppose to be working in May and its now July. As a military member who had to blindly move here and relies on reviews. please dont move here. the area doesnt seem bad by driving through it (especially since i moved here from right outside east st louis..anything seemed like paradise) but the crime is awful and the complex could care less.
People drive way to fast through the parking lot
After reading these reviews Im very glade that I hung up on them today,, I was told by the office lady that we would have to get a three bedroom because our disabled 9 month baby sleeps in our room she told us its there policy that theres only 2 hearts beats per room lol wow I suggest no one go here,, thats terrable to take advantage or try and up sell a family with disabled kids these people must be heartless I suggest no one rent here or even call here there rude and there policys are the worst Ive ever hear every family in America has there kids in there room but no here wont be aloud lol
These apartments are horrible. Just moved into here about a month ago. Maintenance sucks, they say they fix issues but they just cover them up. Neighbors are complained on for noise and frequent police visits to the apartment, but office/management do nothing about the trash tenants. I dont recommend this place at all. The whole complex should be torn down. I have many more complaints but I see everyone has done that already. Dont live here.
If I could give a negative review I would.I moved into a 2 bedroom apartment with my best friend and the carpets had stains on them when we moved in you could tell the apartment was not cleaned properly before we moved in. Some things came up and she ended up moving out, luckily they let me move to a 1 bedroom. After I had moved out of the 2 bedroom they tried calling me and telling me that they tried repainting the walls and the paint wouldnt stick because we did drugs in the apartment, we NEVER did drugs in this apartment and Alice in the office was so combative and rude with me on the phone. I was so offended. Then in my 1 bedroom place we had this rude guy who at 2 am would rev his stupid Honda and it was really loud and the office never did anything about it ever. The girl who lived across from me would leave her dog inside for days while she wasnt home and the dog would bark all through the day and night and the office tried blaming ME saying it was my dog barking, I was home all day so my dog never barked. So after that I ended my lease early and they tried making me pay 700 dollars to replace carpets that were brand new when I moved in. Dont make the mistake I did and move into these apartments, you will get walked all over and charged for things that were not your fault.
The apartments were outdated while I was there and the gates never seemed to work. The office staff was very helpful when I needed them and the moving out process was them went very smooth!
The place isnt bad for the price, however they should assign 2 parking spots per unit. Neighbors are rude and have parties or multiple vehicles.
These apartments are ridiculously poorly maintained and the apartment management is very very horrible. At any given time of the day you can go in and their is 1-2 people leasing a apartment or moving out, not by choice but eviction. They begin eviction proceedings on the 6th of the month after they give u a letter on the 5th stating your behind. Dont bother going in and telling them you will be paying them in full on the 7th you had a emergency come up, not going to happen. The staff is a bunch of liars, will tell you one thing and turn around and do something completely different. It is VERY VERY loud here. Dont think your sleeping past 9-10am. Valley Crest landscaping does their landscaping every morning, all you hear is lawn mowers, weed eaters, blower machines etc. Sirens all day, yelling and screaming from neighbors. Friday-Sunday dont expect much sleep at night if your one the types of people who will get up at the noise of people screaming for help and such, someones always fighting out in the parking lot. I watched one lady get drug through the parking lot my second-third week here. Police are here a lot, Ive personally called them 3 times this week for domestic violence/fights etc. Maintenance is poor, when we moved in I declared several items that needed fixed, only of them was ever fixed the others still not fixed even after going down and asking for them to be fixed. They have sliding shower doors, one of our doors the track is bent and the one wheel is busted off so it wont stay on, fell on my fiance when she closed the shower our first night here. Declared it and requested it fixed several times still nothing, now I have removed the doors entirely and setup a shower curtain. When this place was the Sterling Pointe it was remarkable place to live. Now since its under Weidner Management and this new name it is horrible!Save your money move somewhere else. I garuntee you will be trying to buy out your lease within first 4months..
We fell on some hard times one of the staff members harassed us for the rent we had to hide and stay quite this place only cares about money and the apartment isnt nice the stove and the dishwasher didnt work at all and nobody would fix it SAVE YOUR MONEY DONT MOVE HERE ITS A LIVING HELL
This place was EXTREMEMLY nasty. No public areas were cleaned well, dog crap and cigarette butts all over the place, very little snow removal, broken outside lights, concrete steps leading up to the apartment broken and just waiting for a law suit, covers off air conditioners which exposed wires, caulking on the tub at least an inch wide, no updates ANYWHERE and they charge for every little thing as if the apartment started out brand new. It is disgusting. The manager and regional manager are inflexible and not involved with day to day maintenance.
Elsie is great
This is my air conditioning unit. It runs 24 hours a day and cant keep up and its not even warm outside yet.
If I could give this place a negative quantity of stars I would. This is my worst rental experience in 13 years. The amount of damages to my apartment are too long too list but lets say the most minor problem was my kitchen cabinets were falling off the wall. They make up fees for things hoping that people will just pay. Its been a non stop battle with these people for 8 months.
Such horrible apartments and neighbors. The only reason I moved here is because it is the cheapest without being in the ghetto, if you can afford an extra 100 go further north!
The people that work in the leasing office were terrible to work with. Not to mention they will tell you anything to get you to sign a lease, then end up lying about it. The apartments are below average as well.
How does this property not have security? You would think after the fire, noise and location that this property would have someone I can call in a noise complaint to. Nope. I guess you just have to cope with it. Ridiculous.
Decent but dated appliances, poor maintenance overall
Has the best lawn and staff
Its honestly not worth the cost.
It by far one of the worst apartment complexes I have ever lived in the gates are never locked like there are suppose to be they have no kind of pest control the people in the office are rude and never try to resolve any issue other than filling up the apartments...they have towed my vehicle for having out of state plates that are current and others I know that live her for no reason there I absolutely no parking in front of your building at all and they take every dime you have to move out when you have done nothing wrong and no damage to the apartment never live there
Awful!
Bad bug heaven
THE WORST APARTMENTS EVER!!!!!! RUDE OFFICE PEOPLE AND NO CARE ABOUT RESIDENTS!!!!!! DO NOT LIVE HERE. NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR HASSLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Absolutely horrible
