This has to be the WORST customer service I have ever received in my life. Deborah doesn’t even deserve 1 star. She was extremely unprofessional. I tried leaving a review on Groupon but I could no longer leave one since I refunded my Groupon immediately leaving her salon. When I purchased the Groupon I went to schedule the appointment through the app style seat which I was having issues doing so. She contacted me via text and was incredibly rude and disrespectful. She had no intention of even trying to help me out she belittled me and told me to schedule my OWN appointment otherwise she wasn’t the nail tech for me. When I finally was able to schedule an appt she texted me with a pic that said incorrect/ wrong with no explanation. I tried to call her and she would not pick up. She then texted me and said she couldn’t talk because she was with a client to just text her. I said I am texting you but you’re not responding. Then she called me and was unbelievably rude with such an attitude. When I was on my way to my appointment I reached out to let her know I would be a few minutes late due to an accident. I arrived 9 minutes late and she refused my service even though no one was in the salon. Prior to arriving she texted me and told me my appt was at 10am when really it was 12pm and told me to reach out to Groupon for a refund. I asked if I can reschedule with her and she said no. I proceeded to ask her why she’s being so rude. And she’s been nothing but rude since our first time communicating. I’m appalled by this behavior and type of service. I will leave a review on every platform possible to let it be known that this lady does not deserve anyone’s service. Here I am in my third trimester of my pregnancy looking forward to some self care and I was refused and disrespected. I spent $40 on Uber rides just to get to her and back home. DO NOT GIVE HER YOUR MONEY OR TIME.
Honestly don’t waste your time with Deborah. She canceled by appointment less than 24 hours in advanced (which if I did that, I would have been charged a fee), because I incorrectly booked online. I understand that I made the mistake, but I am so confused why my appointment had to be canceled as the time was booked for 2 hours for pretty much the same services. When I tried to ask if she could just change the service, she was extremely rude. I ended up just getting my Groupon refunded as I don’t want to waste my time with someone who isn’t kind and doesn’t value their customers.
I originally booked my appointment back on April 6th for a June 17th appointment. However, I just received a cancellation email on June 14th. There was no response provided or clarification as to why the appointment was cancelled and when I looked to reschedule there was no availability. I texted the number provided in the email and was told this was not an error and that she had a MORE IMPORTANT event to attend that morning. Literally wrote that word for word, all in caps. And stated she does not need to explain ANYTHING to me as a potential customer looking for clarification. I would have easily rebooked, but will most definitely be taking my service elsewhere and note that I never make customer reviews but this one deserves one. STAY away from this lady she is rude, unprofessional and disrespectful.
I was lucky to have Deborah the owner to give me a mani/pedicure besides being a great technician she was informative and gave me tools to assure that my feet do not dry out. I recommend Nails by Deborah
I met a lady in an Asian nail shop who suggested this BLACK owned business however after reading these horrible reviews I will not be coming here. I guess I can see why the lady who suggested this place was back with the Asians. LOL!!! Geez, customer services should be #1.
I went to get more information about their services to surprise my girlfriend for valentines and was treated like I was going to rob them or something. I live across the street from the place, so I went in person to get more information because I was unable to find their website online nor google at this time. The lady wouldnt even open the door and tried talking to me through the glass with a mask on... I mean how the hack am I suppose to hear her and more over stand in the cold weather to talk about something I know little about. Shame I cant support local business. And it sucks because Ive been telling my girlfriend how cool this place looks and that she should check it out. Well that wont be happening. ALSO after returning home, I called salon and the same lady told me she would text me their online booking in which I havent received yet. Not cool
Deborah was really unprofessional. Not sure how she can be in the field and treat people with an attitude. A Groupon was bought for two services. Appointment was made online and on the note section it was mentioned it was for a Groupon for two girls. The day of the appointment she gave us an attitude because one of the appointments was for a pregnant lady. Like really!?! Our decision if we want to get our nails done while pregnant. SECONDLY she never called, email, or text us to notify us the appointment was for only one person. So only one of us got our nails done.Made the second appointment to use the second Groupon that was bought. Made my appointment and the next day a get a text saying Groupon was only for new customers. No where in the Groupon it said it was for new customers only. Sent her a picture of the Groupon showing the expiration date and that it was for 2 pedicures. Day of the appointment came....arrived rang the doorbell and she did not open the door. Took about eight minutes to open the door and when she finally did.....she gave me an attitude saying “are you just going to stay outside” notify her that I had rang the doorbell. I get told that it does not work....how is a customer supposed to know it does not work if no sign is posted plus she could see me from where she was inside. The whole time she gave an attitude like if you don’t want to work then don’t promote your businessDEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND
5 Stars for no longer having Deborah
When a friend and I initially came by to check the salon out— I was thrilled to see a black owned thriving business to further support, I was treated as if I was going to rob the salon being talked to from inside with my friend and I standing outside in the brutal cold. & then after calling today I was approached with attitude from Deborah when I called to ask her for more info on her Groupons. She was not informative as requested and was rude when explaining to me what groupons were available—groupons that were not listed as stated. I will not be trying this salon out ever again. How can you work in a field as such and have such poor customer service? SHOP ELSEWHERE. THANK ME LATER.Do better, Deborah.
Love Deborah. Sanitary even in a pandemic. Works with you to get the best color.
I had a good experience there. Definitely I’ll go back.
Deborah is my fave nail tech! Always a pleasure to walk into an establishment and feel welcomed, not rushed, and just comfortable. Thank you!
Second time my appointment was canceled. Very rude & unprofessional when letting her know that I would be 10 mins late.
I’ve now been to Aquamarine Nails several times since it opened and I love how clean they maintain everything. They have a wide variety of services and a large range of polish colours to choose from. Yesterday I got a beautiful pedicure with paraffin soak. This was the perfect service after the 7 mile run I had done. The warm paraffin was relaxing during application and left my feet incredibly smooth and soft. I highly recommend it, if you are on your feet a lot. Rubi, my nail technician was amazing. She’s very friendly and pays attention to detail. The calming music, gentle candle scents and the decor all add to the spa like atmosphere of this nail salon which I love.
Great salon and great service
Ive gotten my nails done here a few times now (and a pedicure once, before boot season kicked in). The salon is very clean, beautifully decorated, and has a peaceful and calm aura to it. Furthermore, the owner and the technicians have all been very friendly and attentive. There are many nail salons in the area, but what really makes this place stand out is that you get more of a spa experience, without having to pay the spa prices! I also love that the technicians are creative and talented enough to help design special manicures! No longer am I stuck with the same boring manicures! I have finally found a place that will do fun, unique, beautiful pinterest-worthy manicures/pedicures! Ill definitely keep coming back!
After months of searching for a new place to get my nails done I think Aquamarine is it! The place has been open less than a month and Im happy I gave them a try. The nail spa is so cute and modern. And because theyve been open a short time I was the only client in the place and I absolutely loved how quite it was. Tara the owner is so nice. And Amy the nail technician is FANTASTIC!!! Amy paid attention to evey detail and took her time. I was very pleased overall. The only very tiny drawback is lack of nail polish brands offered. BUT they informed me that they will expanding on the brands they carry very soon. With that being said I cant wait to back and get my services done by Amy!
Aquamarine Nails is a great new salon in the south loop area. It has a fresh, modern and relaxing atmosphere and they use all non-toxic products. The owner, Nastaran, is very welcoming and friendly. Amy, the technician, gave me the most meticulous manicure Ive every received and it turned out beautiful! Thanks for a great experience!
I was refused service for my appointment at an empty salon due to my disability need, clearly marked in the dog wearing combat veterans service animal patches. I reminded the staff that the law does not allow her to do this. She stated thats just how it is.I understand there could have been a need for education, but there is no excuse for ADA discrimination.
3.5 stars. It says by appointment only on their yelp page, but when I asked about that when I was there, they said they also take walk-ins. They are conveniently located at the southeast corner of State and 16th - the 62 and 29 bus can both take you there, or its a short walk off the Roosevelt CTA stop. I did feel a little weird when they locked the door while I was getting my nails done. As someone thats not in the store, it also feels a bit unwelcoming when I come to the door and its locked.I came in for a regular manicure ($22). I dont remember the name of the tech, but she was very friendly and held great conversation. I chose black for my nails which is my go-to, they do have a great amount of colors that you can choose from. On my way home, I noticed that she missed the sides of my nails, as seen in the pictures I posted (I only posted two fingers, but this was the same for many other fingers). Additionally, only cuticles on my left hand were pushed back. My right hand was gently clipped but not pushed back.
DO NOT GO HEREExtremely rude, nasty, refused to take Groupon, huge attitude problem, shouting at me in the street, Book elsewhere
Called to ask about services and got my head bitten off for asking about dip. I wish they would of just told me no and suggested any other services I might like. I’ve worked in a service base industry for a long time and that’s not how you educate a new Client on something that might be harmful to them. Not a good first impression at all.
Completely unprofessional
