When I tell you the ladies that work here are top notch!! My cat had kittens and somehow their umbilical cords got wrapped around 4 of the kittens feet. We were very nervous, but the ladies were calm and put us at ease. We were lucky not to lose them just a couple of little feetThank you ladies for your excellent work and outstanding customer service!!

Even in an emergent situation, the service I received from this veterinary group remains unmatched. I called looking for an emergency vet and they were able to fit my pet in within the hour when other veterinary clinics turned me away. They were incredibly efficient in sending me paperwork through my phone so my pet was ready to be seen by the time I arrived. All of the staff were incredibly kind, but I was so grateful for the veterinarians compassion. She was patient with me and answered all my questions every step of the way. She made me feel at ease that I made the best decision for my pet. I highly recommend this veterinary group because they will ensure you and your pet receive quality care.

Thank you for taking care of my Ella! The staff was wonderful, and I appreciate how they constantly let us be with our pup. They were very transparent through the entire visit. Lucky, our pup had a minor injury that amounted to just soreness. But, I now have the peace of mind knowing there is such a great emergency vet, nearby.

As a first time cat mom — at least to cats that are Fully Mine, not just a family cat — everything feels like a big deal, but VEG made sure to make me feel like I wasn’t over reacting. I had noticed one of my two new kittens, Pierogi, had a touch of diarrhea that hadn’t cleared up on its own. I mentioned it to the vet I had my adoption follow-up and they just glossed over it, so after monitoring him and not seeing any change, I got a bit worried. The staff at VEG were so kind and so sweet with my boy, and completely understanding with me and my minor freak out. They got me in and out in about an hour with more peace of mind than I came in with and my sweet boy is on the mend! One of the only places I can honestly say I’m very glad I went but I hope never to come back ♥️

I can’t say I had a good experience here, since I walked in with a living dog and two days later, left grieving her loss, but I amstill glad that I took my pup to VEG. The staff took excellent care of Rhubarb and did everything they could to try to get her back home, but she was just too sick. Everyone there was kind, helpful, and patient, even though they were extremely busy most of the time. The vets were straightforward and didn’t give me false hope, and helped me make the difficult decision to put her down while making me feel supported in making the right choice. Also, the waiting area was pleasant and the coffee and snacks were a nice touch. I hope I never have to take another pet to the ER, but chances are I will and I wouldn’t hesitate to take them here.

I am so thankful for Veterinary Emergency Group. I came home from a camping trip to find my cat with an abscess. I couldnt get in to see our regular vet so I went to VEG. I was able to stay with my cat the whole time, which was a big relief to both of us, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. There were a few emergencies, so we had to wait a bit but the techs kept checking on us to make sure the situation hadnt escalated. Everything was spotless clean, everyone was professional, and I felt like i was in good hands. Its more expensive than the regular vet but so worth it in an emergency. Hopefully I wont have to go back but if something happens to my cat, Ill go back there in a second.

Our dog Monti had an intestinal blockage (ate part of a toy) and we ended up at VEG after trying the chicken/rice diet for a couple days with no change. We showed up Sunday morning and he was in surgery that evening. Although the wait was long, they were transparent, helpful, and professional. There were many other animals that came in and who needed more urgent care and we felt their prioritization of patients was spot on. The doctor was candid about our options and ultimately, was able to perform a far less invasive procedure than we thought - which was awesome. Before we left him for the surgery, the anesthesiologist came out to talk to us and made us feel better. Also she texted us a picture before surgery, we then got a call before surgery, AND another call immediately after. This was huge because it was past midnight and we couldn’t sleep, and knowing right away that he was okay was so, so needed. AND - THEY REFUNDED US! The vet was able to milk the blockage out carefully without cutting into the intestines which was the best outcome we could have had. Since the surgery didn’t require that cut they actually gave us money back, which was unexpected and incredible (cause the surgery was expensive!) Dog is fine now, got discharged with proper meds, and although our experience was good we hope we never have to go back :)

This will be somewhat long and be a rollercoaster of emotions, but please bear with me! I want everyone to know how VEG and their staff saved our sweet kittens life.During the past week, my partner and I have been in and out of VEG Lincoln Park multiple times with our 4.5 month old kitten, Roscoe. Roscoe was first seen on 8/16 for fast breathing, lethargy, and symptoms of what we first thought were pneumonia. The next day on 8/17, our traditional DVM found a pleural effusion that he drained and began testing to find out if this was something more serious, such as neoplasia (cancer) or FIP (feline infectious peritonitis), however, results of the tests would not be available for about a week. For those that may not know, FIP is an infection (typically found in kittens or senior cats) caused by the cats immune system response to the common feline coronavirus. Traditionally, this aggressive disease does not have any treatment/cure and has a 100% fatality rate in weeks to months. We planned to wait for the results of the testing to make a plan.During our most recent visit to VEG on 8/18, we had brought Roscoe in again because we noticed his breathing was once again fast and his lethargy had not improved. He was immediately attended to by VEGs amazing staff without a wait, as they understood the seriousness of the situation, swarming around him and working quickly. The DVM that attended to Roscoe, Dr. Kubala, examined him, did an ultrasound, and then drained fluid in a matter of 20 minutes, as it was clear more fluid buildup had caused ongoing pleural effusion. It is Dr. Kubalas knowledge and confidence in her diagnosis that I am writing this review to highlight. Dr. Kubala directly told us it was FIP after she drained and examined the fluid. We asked if there was anything else it could possibly be, but Dr. Kubala was as close to certain as you could get, and we could see that in her demeanor and presence. We were heartbroken, but its exactly what we needed to hear.We made a plan. We were able to quickly obtain doses of GS-441524, an experimental (yet promising) treatment for FIP that has emerged just in the last few years, and reassured that we had caught this at a somewhat early stage, Roscoe was given his first dose the very next day on 8/19. He has only had three doses now, and the change in him has almost been immediate and miraculous. He is almost back to his pre-FIP self already. We are in tears seeing his progress and his playfulness, happiness, and joy come back.Without Dr. Kubalas quick and accurate diagnosis, we would currently still be waiting for test results. Because FIP is such an aggressive disease, days (even hours) can be the difference between life and death. While he is definitely not out of the woods yet by any means, and his treatment plan will span the course of the next 81 days, we truly believe Dr. Kubala and the techs at VEG Lincoln Park saved our little Roscoes life.VEG is full of amazing, incredible people, doing all they can for your animals, and the amount of work, care, love, and effort they put into every animal does not go unseen or unfelt. We had taken one of our other cats to another area emergency vet (MedVet) before we knew about VEG, and I highly recommend you head to VEG during a pet emergency. The compassion, communication, and treatment of pet owners are all far superior at VEG.I hope we never have to be at VEG again, but if we do, we are confident our Roscoe, Goose, or Tex will get the best care possible.

From the second I called, I knew my concerns with his breathing problems were being taken seriously. Throughout the process, everyone I spoke to was very knowledgable and helpful. They took time to explain things to me thoroughly and answer all my questions. I also appreciated that the different paths of treatment and pricing were clearly communicated ahead of time. My cat had a severe ear infection and I brought him to this hospital looking at the overall high ratings it has. The vet is the first vet I have met that diagnosed my cat without checking out the patient. He only pet him once while we discussed our visit. When the staff was cleaning out his ears, they asked the doctor if he saw the ear drum and he said he had, even though he didnt check anything in the exam room. We only talked about the procedural steps and financials of the visit and options. I confronted him telling him he never checked the ears, he asked me if I would like to have him check them again. He barely pet my cat during the exam let alone actually examining him. The only reason I gave two stars is that the staff was super nice and efficient and all the stars go to them. I want to give credit where credit is due. The ladies at the reception were welcoming when we arrived and the people that cleaned his ears and did the initial check up were attentive, made me feel at ease and clearly there because they loved animals and loved helping out, unlike the vet that did our exam. Very unhappy with the way he handled my cat. Will not be going back here unless there is a different and proper vet that loves animals and not dismissive to people who bring their pets. Zero stars to the vet Dr Jay Ryan, 5 stars to the rest of the staff.

My first time here and my last one. My Ellie die. I believe if they didn’t make me wait 5 hours before seen her, this could have been avoided. I signed in to their website 3:19pm. I arrived there 6:36. My Ellie was seen close to midnight. At the door, I wished they could have told me go to an exotic veterinarian instead of making me wait. They couldn’t do X-ray to check for egg binding or blood work for lack of calcium. Two injections, the lady was shaking, I don’t even know if the first injection was put correctly because her feathers got wet with solution injected.First at my arrival, they put me in a unclean room, there was dog/cat hair all over. Seat, floor, checking table, etc. Then, they need it the room so I waited in my car close to 11pm. They called me to tell me, it was Ellie’s turn. They took me to an entrance waiting area, not even a room. This entrance has blood on the door, walls, windows, chair legs, the carpet was so dirty. I don’t understand how the even think of putting an unstable pet, there. I waited here for another 49 minutes before Vet came. The doctor came, it took her less than 2 minutes to decide let’s give her two injections and tomorrow take your Ellie to a an exotic veterinarian. They say they will call so this exotic veterinarian sees me next day and transfer records, they failed to do so. If you love your pet as much we loved our Ellie, please don’t take a risk here. Go to a different place, if you can.

Thank you so much for rescuing us and Archie! Our 11month old chocolate Labrador had swallowed a tennis ball and this had caused an obstruction in his stomach that was making him throw up everything he ate. He is a repeat offender who loves to swallow anything he can fit in his snout!!! But this time we were unaware that he had swallowed something until he started to throw up his breakfast! We went to his primary vet clinic and we’re told that he would need a surgery after they did a few X-rays. They asked us to decide within the next 30 mins which spooked us since we were still wrapping our heads around the situation. We wanted a second opinion before we let them cut into him before addressing procedures like endoscopy and why it could not be done.Long story short by the time we arrived at VEG we were stressed, scared and completely unsure of what to do next. Our puppy was scared, tired, hungry and still throwing up bile every few hours. From the initial phone call, to when we arrived and the smooth online check in, everything seemed to already make us feel calmer. We still had to wait but they made sure Archie was stable before asking us to wait. Later Dr. Morrison who was on call for the night came in and discussed the entire situation in great detail. Explaining the risks versus benefits of both the endoscopy and surgery. All things considering we agreed to have Dr Morrison operate on him only because we felt she was patient, kind and very knowledgeable. We left for the night after leaving Archie to be scheduled for surgery early in the morning. The staff assured us that they would keep us posted through text messages. We thought this was just something they say to pacify anxious pet parents, but they sent us a message every few hours and kept us updated about what was happening and how he was doing regularly. They even sent us periodic pictures of Archie and told us how his short walks were. Thanks to Nurse Ivana, Vet Tech Melissa, Dr Aimee Morrison and all the staff at VEG for being so wonderful to Archie!!! This is a challenging review to write because we ultimately experienced the loss of our pet, however Veterinary Emergency Group deserves to be recognized for the care and compassion that was provided to our cat (and to my fiance and I). We took our senior cat to VEG for respiratory distress; we were immediately escorted into the clinic and within < 60 seconds, a veterinarian was evaluating and treating him. The details of his care were explained to us at each step. Multiple team members continually checked in on our pet and on us. Dr. Kruzova was knowledgeable and kind, and she explained our cats diagnosis and prognosis to us in a calm, compassionate, and realistic manner that allowed us to make decisions to respect our pet and preserve his quality of life. The VEG team made the most difficult night of our lives a little less traumatic by showing us compassion and care every moment we were there. We were (and still are) devastated by having to say goodbye to our beloved cat, but we are so grateful for the care that was provided to him and for the opportunity we were given to peacefully say goodbye to him. Although we hope to never have another veterinary emergency, we would hands-down go back to VEG if we do and highly recommend it to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care.

This clinic is different from any other veterinary emergency clinic youve been to. Read up on their philosophy! You stay with your pet during the process instead of sitting in a waiting room for hours wondering what is happening. Nobody is bugging you about payment the moment you walk in the door.I sat next to my cat in an oxygen chamber while they stabilized her and figured out a treatment plan. I saw people with their pets everywhere. Someone was lying in a cage with their seriously ill dog. Where else would you be allowed to do that? At such a scary time, it helps both pet and parent to be together. My cat had to be hospitalized for two days due to lily poisoning. The staff sent updates and photos each day. They said i could visit any time.I will also say that the prices for services here were extremely reasonable. Based on previous vet ER visits, i expected a much larger bill. They emailed me my receipt and a full summary of care after my visit.I will definitely be back if i need emergency care for my pets.

Im not sure how this place is rated so highly. Maybe its the time we visited (around midnight), so we got a skeleton crew that was exhausted. Brought my senior dog in who had 2 seizures within a 24 hour period. I was instructed to take my dog to an ER by my primary veterinarian if that happened, (it was a weekend, so my vet wasnt open). First off, this place has no neurological department or equipment. So I sat there with a disoriented dog, who was whining and panting for 5 hours to be seen LAST. Literally last out of everyone there, and to be told verbatim, well, we dont do neurology here and that is what 2 seizures typically mean, when they have cluster seizures like that. So we can refer you to another ER but were going to give you seizure medication and start him on that. Ok, so you knew this, spent 3 minutes with my dog after making us wait 5 hours to tell us it was basically a waste of our time to come to this ER in the first place. Then when I asked what the cost of an MRI looked like and other options for brain tumors, the very callous response from the vet was, he would live for maybe another month without surgery if its a tumor. This is what you say to someone who just told you that these symptoms started in their otherwise healthy dog just 6 weeks ago?! That hes going to die in a month, as I sit there in tears in front of you, no Im sorry, or anything from her. Just a horrible experience.

We honestly could not have had a better experience with VEG. My husband and I brought our cat, Bunchie, to his primary vet two days ago for a urethral obstruction. He was still straining to urinate during the night, so we brought him into VEG early yesterday morning. They were very kind and compassionate starting from my panicked phone call. They decided our boy needed to stay for a day while they unblocked and monitored him. I was worried because our cat does not do well under stress, and an emergency vet can be a hectic environment. Later in the day we wanted to stop in to visit him and ask a couple questions. to our surprise he was isolated in his own quiet room watching cat sensory videos. The staff treated him with so much love, frequently updating us with pictures. Our boy is now at home, thriving. Taking your pet in for an emergency visit can be traumatizing, but VEG had us smiling all day with the frequent updates and photos. The doctor, assistants and staff were very kind, supportive and thorough from beginning to end and I personally am grateful for their expert care to our little Ada. Amanda, Bree and Dr. Shanks are wonderful humans and a godsend.

Amazing group of medical professionals. Not only did they save my dogs life they also were empathetic and understanding of my distress in seeing him in such a state. I wish I could multitask as well as they evidently can as they were back and forth between my family and I taking care of both of us. I also love their open space layout and that they allowed us to be with our dog until he was put under. From the bottom of my heart thank you VEG! I highly recommend you come here if your dog requires emergency surgery. They are the best.

As old as time, Fido loves a good stick. Well sometimes, the stick doesn’t love you back. My dog got a chip of a stick stuck between her teeth during our lunch outing today. Her regular vet didn’t have any appointments and I didn’t want her to have that thing in there during eating time. I called VEG and they answered quickly and gave me clear details on how to check in. Lindsey got my girl and, legitimately, less than ten minutes later (I checked my phone’s time stamps), I get a call letting me know she is ready to check out. By the time I made it back, Lindsey was with Serena in their pet relief area. Apparently, it would have been an even quicker visit if they didn’t have to bribe my little canine with some peanut butter. When I asked what the damage was, Lindsey said that it was free of charge because it was such an easy fix. I am just floored. I came in thinking my little girl is gonna cost me thousands of dollars and hours of worry, and then it was a quick and free visit. Sincerely, I am so grateful this ER was open so close to Gold Coast. I will be recommending everyone in my pet-friendly building to go here and as many people I come across. I could not be happier with them. Thank you all so much!

Hi, my daughter called and something was wrong with our dog. I just went back to work and left work to take our dog. Doctor said she would work with me to help our dog who needed emergency surgery. Unfortunately I have been out of work. I knew things would be expensive but I felt relief when she said she could work with me. As she told me what was wrong with my dog me and my daughter was crying she told me she wouldn’t send my dog home like this. I sat there for 35 minutes to be told to take our Bella to the welfare clinic. What happen to she need surgery immediately? What happened to I will work with you? The doctor could barely look me in my face ? Where is the heart and love for animals? Why does everything have to be about money? Payment plans can be worked out!!!! We left in absolute tears and the welfare clinic isn’t open until Monday? Now I have to watch my baby suffer so heartbreaking!!

My dog snapped her dew claw around 7 PM. We were told by the staff that they were busier than usual and wed have to wait 6 hours. Im four months pregnant and my dog has attachment anxiety, so Id be sitting there for at least 6 hours. They suggested we loosely wrap her paw and, if our vet didnt have availability, to come back in the morning to be seen because the injury needed vet intervention. With an alarm set for 7 AM, we called and let them know we were on the way in. Dana, the front desk worker, said they werent busy at all and to come in. We got there within 15 minutes and there were two dogs ahead of us. 3 hours passed and every other pet was taken back and treated, but we continued to sit and wait. I kept asking for an update and getting a your next unless something critical comes in. I peeked my head through the doorway multiple times to find all staff members, without any dogs at their tables, just chatting and on their phones throughout my 3 hour visit. When they took 2 other dogs ahead of us, again, we left. I politely refrained from sharing my feedback in front of the other owners, and called Dana to let her know we left and how frustrated we were. She apologized for my anger and when I told her that her staff needs better communication between shifts and to treat patients better, she said she didnt even know why we were there and alluded that it wasnt her problem. Odd statement since she did our intake.A few days later, my primary vet reached out to me asking about the Visit Summary VEG sent. The document alleges that Dr. Shanks seen my dog for mild lip fold dermatitis and this was why we visited. So they either created a false claim to still bill us when they did nothing, or they got the wrong dogs visit summary on their paperwork. This place is trash. They give a strong first impression but its a bait and switch. Go to a trusted facility thats not going to waste your time and money.

My schnauzer was vomiting and had not eaten for 2 days. I went to another emergency vet and was told there was. 6 hr wait I didn’t think that it was a good thing to wait 6 hours outside inside my car in 90* weather with an extremely sick dog. I googled urgent vet care and found VEGThey saw me right away. The best thing is that I could be with my dog the entire time and did not have to wait in a parking lot not knowing what was going on due to COVID restrictions. The layout of the hospital is an open floor plan where you can see everything that is going on. There isn’t the usual little exam room where the staff disappears and reappears behind the “mysterious doors”The staff was amazing. Dr White explained what was going on clearly. After many tests it was determined that Max suffered from Pancreatitis and we chose to leave Max for the evening. What I like the most is that there is total transparency in this clinic! I was allowed to be with Max when he was being prepped for his IV and I saw him go into his kennel with his blankets and dog bed! The doctor called me promptly at the end of the day and also at 7:00 am the next day to update me.Dayna at the front desk, Dr White and all the technicians were so caring that I left Max with a sense of comfort knowing he would be well taken care of. It is a very stressful thing to have a very sick dog and not know what to do. It is also stressful to hand your dog over to a stranger to see your dog go through the “mysterious” doors not really knowing what will happen next. This ER hospital has taken the mystery and stress out of a situation by merely eliminating those mystery little doors and allowing you to see where your dog will be as well as meet all the people that will be taking care of him. If you ever find yourself in a stressful situation with a sick dog or cat I recommend you bring them to VEG.

She wasnt eating or drinking water for two days, and had very bad vomit/diarrhea. She had to stay here for 24 hours, but I was confident in the team at VEG. Before coming here we went to (I won’t name the place, but it’s 1 of 3 emergency clinics that starts with “M”), and they released Lucy to us without doing anything for her. We waited in the parking lot at “M” for 6 hours and they told us to get back in line! I think if we did not come here, we would not have Lucy with us today. We make her wear a diaper for now, but soon well be back to chasing squirrels and birds! =]

If you are experiencing a pet emergency and are in the vicinity of Veterinary Emergency Group, stop reading this review and call them now.Yesterday evening after a walk, our young puppy suddenly became very lethargic and unresponsive. Our usual veterinarian was already closed for the day and a feverish Google search connected us with Veterinary Emergency Group. Though I was in a panic, the staff member on the phone greeted me calmly and walked me through where I needed to bring our pup and how we could register her online on our way to the office. Though we werent able to accompany her inside because of COVID precautions, we could tell our little one was in good hands while we played the anxious waiting game in the car outside.Meanwhile inside, Dr. Suzuki and her team quickly diagnosed the issue that had brought on her scary symptoms and provided us with a sense of relief as we left our little girl in her teams care overnight. As new parents, we naturally got curious about her condition when we got home and a quick phone call assured us that our little nugget was resting and beginning her night of recovery. In the morning, we received text message updates on her much improved condition and were able to pick her up and meet Dr. Suzuki in person to have a few questions answered and concerns addressed. I also called our usual veterinarian to update them on the situation and learned that she was already aware of what had happened as she received an email of our records from Veterinary Emergency Group as well.I cant thank Dr. Suzuki and the Veterinary Emergency Group enough for bringing our little girl back to us. Though I hope to never experience a similar situation again, Ill go into it a little more confident knowing that Veterinary Emergency Group will be there for us. Thank you all!

Worst experience EVER ! It was FILTHY, unsanitary and I walked out in the middle of my my poor cat needing medical attention. The nurse couldn’t find a thermometer in her “ junk drawer” once she found it, she didn’t use KY jelly and threw the thermometer back in the drawer like it was a pencil. ( not cleaning it!!) There was dried blood splatter all over the floor and on the metal table .She didn’t put a towel down for my cat to lay on. She just took him out of the cage and put him on the cold metal table that I soon realized was smeared with dried blood as well. Once I realized that, I packed him up and left before my poor kitty was misdiagnosed or given a disease from unsanitary conditions. I took him to another facility that actually knew what they were doing.
