Got both my wedding dress and my husbands wedding clothing altered there and they worked MAGIC. Incredible attention to detail, amazing customer service, overall awesome to work with. They really care and it shows. I brought them 2 inexpensive prom dresses (the same dress in 2 different sizes) and they basically took them apart and put them back together again into one incredible dress that fit like a GLOVE for an amazing price. I was blown away. I cannot recommend them enough. Do not waste your time or money anywhere else!
The Dress Doctor works miracles!!! I showed up for my first wedding dress fitting unknowing how big my dress was on me. I was SO worried if the dress would ever fit, if the beading would look the same, etc. but Giselle confidently walked through her next steps at ease and I immediately trusted her with everything. She and her wonderful mom (owners) are experts and I truly looked forward to flying in for each fitting because they would always make me feel so at peace. Love, love, love the Dress Doctor and would absolutely recommend!
I had a very simple wedding dress that needed a lot of alterations to fit me correctly and the Dress Doctor made it happen. They are magicians! They are so talented and were always looking at every option to make my dress fit perfectly. It was gorgeous! I cant recommend them enough.
I went to The Dress Doctor with a 60 year old dress that my great aunt wore in 1959 and my mom wore in 1982. It was falling apart, delicate, and covered in an intricate and specific lace pattern that my man of honor (broadway costumer) said would be nearly impossible to match. From the beginning I felt super comfortable leaving this precious family heirloom at The Dress Doctor. They were experienced, thoughtful, kind, and clearly knew what they were doing. They restored my gown by redoing the entire top, carefully taking off and preserving the lace, and reapplying it to the newly made top which was an exact match to the rest of the dress. It meant the world to me be able to wear something filled with so much sentimental value and family history and The Dress Doctor made it happen with excellent care and customer service. Thank you for being a part of our perfect and special day.
I couldn’t have imagined a better bridal experience! Giselle and her wonderful mother (owners) were SO helpful, always accommodating & tailored my wedding gown to perfection! Highly recommend. Very flexible with scheduling appointments. Excellent customer service! I will be a Dress Doctor client for life.
Working with Giselle at the Dress Doctor was amazing! She has an impeccable sense of style and will make sure your dress is a perfect fit for your wedding day. I brought two items in for her - a wedding gown and a bridal jumpsuit. Both of these items were extremely delicate with very thin lace all over that required careful alterations. She took so much care to make sure that each item fit my body as though it was made just for me and that each maintained its delicate form. Additionally, I told her I was having trouble finding a veil to match my dress and she was able to make a custom veil for me using the left over lace from my dress - I couldnt have found a more beautiful veil if I had tried! During each fitting, I always felt that I was in good hands with her.Thank you, Dress Doctor, for making my wedding day picture perfect!
I cant say enough wonderful things about this place. I went in with a dress I already loved from Honey, a varca bridal design, and needed some ideas on what to do with the long fabric that hung on the front and back, it made the dress look SO dreamy but in practice was going to be hard to manage. Giselle and her mom transformed it into removable wings and gave my dress the perfect magical beach wedding vibe I didnt know I even wanted! Her mom also painstakingly pined and re pined and hand had to remove and re-sew the top part of my dress because of the material and in the end it looked perfect. I am so so grateful for her patience as every time there was one part that was just not sitting right and SHE insisted that they keep re-stitching it as annoying as Im sure it was it made the dress fit me perfectly on they day of. I cant recommend these two enough and the fact that they are a minority female owned business is just the cherry on the cake!
I had originally given them three stars because they tried to keep working on the dress to get it right after they made some bad alterations but have to drop it to one star after getting our pictures back. The dress really was so ill-fitting after this place butchered it and it’s visible in our pictures. If I had to do it over again, I would definitely choose a different seamstress and would not recommend this place to anyone. My dress was fairly intricate with a lot of sequins so I knew it would be hard to alter. I went to the Dress Doctor because it was recommended by the store where I bought my dress. After they took in the waist on the second visit, I told them every time I went in after that it was way too tight (which ended up being 5-6 times) and they would always give a reason why it was fine or say they would steam it to stretch it or let it out and then they didnt do either. It was pinching my back so that my skin was folded and they told me I just had to smooth it out. Maybe its just me but for $600 of alternations, I dont think I should have to be worried about smoothing my skin out. When I tried it on for the last time before taking it home, I told her it was too tight, she again told me it was fine, unzipped me and left the room. So, I decided to take it home and try it on again. The picture below shows what it looked like when I took it home for what was supposed to be the final time. The straps and bust were too loose and the waist was so tight it was creating a pucker. This is how they sent it home for my wedding day.I Immediately took it back in and they did fix the bust and it looked beautiful once fixed. They also let the waist out but I never felt like it looked as good as when I first bought it. The sequins at the waist seam looked sloppy and you can see it in our wedding photos. They dont take the time to fix details like that. They also made a point to tell me that they usually charge once the dress leaves the store if it is brought back but they werent going to in this case. Again, look at the picture. In general, they always seemed very busy and I think they just dont have the time to focus on small details. Every time I raised something, the response was no one will notice but you and they rushed me out of the that last time with a dress that was not right because I think they just wanted to be done with one more. The more I think about it the more I am truly disappointed in this experience and feel so upset about how my dress looked on my wedding day.
The Dress Doctor was an absolutely incredible experience. I am sad that I do not have a reason to go there every few weeks for my wedding dress fittings anymore. Giselle was so helpful and so wonderful. She has such wonderful fashion experience from her time in New York. Her knowledge and tastes helped me to make decisions on everything from sashes to earrings. She was with me every step of the way. I didnt even feel a need to have a friend or my mother join me for my appointments because Giselles input and support was more than enough. I truly cannot thank you enough for the gorgeous work you have done on my wedding gown. Thank you for taking all of the time you did with me. I will recommend your services to anyone and everyone going forward! Thank you, thank you!!!!!
The Dress Doctor is the best! I have fled from a grumpy tailor to The Dress Doctor, and I dont dread getting clothes tailored any more. Their tailoring is excellent, and Soheila and Kass are a delight to work with. The premises have recently been remodeled and look quite spiffy. They understand exactly what minor nips and tucks change a shapeless Chanel dress into an elegant piece of couture. And I really appreciate the easy parking.
I wish I could give 10 stars! I was referred to the Dress Doctor by Winnie Couture, and Giselle brilliantly transformed a full length, tulled wedding gown into an adorable, short party dress for the reception! This was not an easy task and I was extremely impressed with the results (and I am incredibly picky). Affordable, very quick turnaround, and amazingly talented!
I had my wedding dress alterations done at The Dress Doctor and I cannot recommend them enough. My dress didn’t require all that many alterations but they were incredible patient with me as I changed my mind about my bustle and required additional, unplanned alterations leading up to the big day (FYI: that stress and adrenaline during the last leg of planning leading up to the big day can cause some unplanned weight loss). They looked at each fitting objectively; looking for things that might need additional tweaking or anything they could do to make sure I looked my best on my big day. I never felt rushed or like they were eager to finish my dress and move on to the next appointment. They primarily deal with wedding alterations and yet they made me feel like my dress and my big day was the most important day of the year and for that I am so grateful. I felt like a princess on my big day and The Dress Doctor was a huge part of that.
Im delighted to have found the Dress Doctor! Not only are their alterations fantastic, but they are a delight to work with. Ive brought all sorts of difficult material to them -- leather skirts, suede coats, misfit suits, tight dresses--and to my astonishment theyve managed to fix everything. Highly, highly recommended.
Great tailoring. Had my suit done here for my wedding. A+++++++++
I had my wedding dress tailored at the dress doctor. They also designed and had my custom veil and head piece made that I got many compliments for. Very friendly and reliable. Thanks to the Dress Doctor for making me look amazing at my wedding :)
Giselle is amazing! She did some quick alterations to a dress and it looks and fits perfect. Best alterations I have ever had done in the city.
I have VERY mixed feeling about this place.... i will say it is a really ugly space. no real waiting area, not inviting at all and seems a bit dirty or that you will step on pins. The owner is a very nice person who really knows what she is doing but what they need to tell you is that the people who do your fitting who you tell everything to, are NOT doing the alterations. I know this is often the case, but i figured more learned hands would tend to my couture $$$$ gown. They really didnt treat my gown like it deserved... and when i came back for my first fitting it became obvious that whoever did my alterations just didnt get it AT ALL. It was so ugly i cried, it was like a different gown. The next fitting it was better but it was like they never even took in the waist since i KNOW i didnt loose weight between my fittings, and it had to come in another 2s. Two days later when i came to pick up my dress, i noticed two crystals had not been sewn on... so they went back down stairs and sewed them on.So all in all the dress is done, and it fits, and i like it BUT it was a hard road to get there and what bride needs added stress?!
Unbelievable customer service! They will go above and beyond to accommodate you. I had a wedding dress crisis and Giselle guided me and helped me a lot.
Great tailor! A little expensive, but they do a very good job and the service is fantastic. Make sure you go up the elevator in the back for quick access.
