Ive bounced around between barbers depending on who is available on days when I can schedule. They are busy and for good reason. I always have a good experience and I like that Im supporting a locally owned business.

This review is long overdue, but Ive been going to The Public Barber since last August and its the best in town. Im super picky with my cuts, as I have pin straight hair and go with a zero fade, and David does excellent work! Im glad to have found him. The shop itself is clean and the barbers are all very friendly. Its pretty easy to book an appointment online as well. I highly recommend this place, and highly recommend David!

Without hesitation, Garfield is the best person that ever cut my hair. I really wish he was here in MI where we moved so I could get a great precision haircut! This place is the best of the best in the midwest, and Garfield is amazing. PLEASE go see him.

Most of the time you get a good haircut, but unfortunately recently you taking part in sanitizing segregation by forcing some people to wear mask while others dont have too. Im not going support business who discriminate people of any reason.

Garfield is a very talented barber and, for whatever reason, has decided to charge absurdly little for his services. Ive gone to barbers literally five times the price and Garfield is easily in the same class. Best deal in town, gentlemen.

The decor is really nice and barbers are very friendly. They are very cautious in a covid environment. I have very wavy/curly hair, medium length, so I understand its not the easiest to cut. With that said, I got the worst haircut I have gotten in years from this place. Not at all what I asked for. I no longer have any length to my hair resulting in no curls. During my haircut I was turned away from the mirror so I couldnt tell how it was going. When I saw it, I just wanted to get out of there. Ive never been upset about a haircut before - its only hair it grows back - but this is the worst Ive ever gotten. If you have any length to your hair, dont go here. If you have short hair, youll be fine. The edging and back are nice, which is fine for short mens typical hair.

Love this place! Everyone is always friendly and the vibe of the shop is great. I usually book with Don, who is wonderful, but couldnt fit with my schedule this month. Jon, their new apprentice, got me right in and did a perfect job with my hair. Definitely recommend giving him a shot!

This place is the best barbershop in Chicago. I personally have had both Michael and David cut my hair and both are extremely skilled - but everyone else who works here is extremely skilled as well. Standard of excellence is very high. With a standard haircut being only $29, you cant beat it.

Super chill barbershop. The guys are really cool with my son and he always leaves feeling fresh. They also usually have complimentary bourbon or whiskey in the waiting area along with a give a book-take a book library. I also love the decor, its very nostalgic with a touch of modernity. Definitely book a couple weeks or more in advance otherwise it can be hard to get in last minute because they are very busy!

My favorite barbers in Chicago. Ive always been nervous about going in for a haircut, afraid that barbers would be annoyed with my lack of confidence about how want my hair cut. The guys at the Public Barber made me feel incredibly welcome and helped me find the cut that works best for me. Theyre all dedicated to the craft and a lot of fun to chat with as well. Inviting, friendly and consummate professionals, I cant imagine getting a haircut anywhere else.

My guy is David but you cant go wrong with any of them. Ive never seen anyone leave this place looking less than amazing. Wish I could grow some facial hair so I could get a shave!

So I had my first experience today and although I am always nervous about a new place, I left extremely happy with my haircut and with the service today. I told Chris exact;y what I needed and I could tell he understood. At the end, after a hot towel service and neck shave, I saw the finished outcome and I could not be more pleased.

However, after moving to the area, I decided to give The Public Barber a chance, and Im super glad I did. The guys are all friendly and professional, the price is right, and above all they know how to give a good cut. They have a super cool space with a take-one-leave-one library and sipping whiskey (if they dont run out). Just make sure you book in advance--they dont do walk in appointments and are often mostly booked for a week or more out.

I’ve had nothing, but good haircuts here for 3 years. If you miss your appointment, with no notice, be prepared to pay for that appointment if you want to reschedule, it’s only fair.

The vibe is relaxing, the smell is great and the service is always amazing. Every barber here is great but Domenic is the one I normally go to, and am super happy every time I leave. Im not one who gets a regular haircut. Im more of an as-needed guy, which means I have to rely on recommendations, and The Public Barber came highly recommended. I get a little intimidated by fancy salons, but this place has a vibe thats a great mix of relaxed, informal, but still very professional. Dominic, my barber, made it a great time. No pressure, just a quick haircut, just how you asked for it, and on your way. Ill be back, for sure.

Ive had my hair cut by Michael, Gar, and Domenic and was very happy each time. The space is nice, theres whiskey to sip on while you wait, and theyre all very friendly. My only complaint is how far in advance you have to book an appointment--but thats just because theyre good at what they do.

The Public Barber is a well-executed modern Barber with an authentic old school feel. The barbers are all very friendly. Scheduling is strict so book in advance via the website. They are dog friendly and in a nice little strip of shops on Wilson. Very cool space and aesthetic which leaves me feeling hip after every cut.

I went there to get a haircut and beard. I had stepped in earlier in the week to set up a reservation with Christopher. I came in late, but they were cool about it and Christopher was busy with his previous client anyway. I stepped in the seat and had a relaxing time while I got my hair cut and my beard shaved. The hair cut came out great and Id thought the beard trim went fine. It wasnt until I was showered and brushed my hair that I noticed my beard was mostly scraggly and uneven and I realized Id have to trim it myself. I wish I could give the full five stars as I loved the place and everyone there was extremely nice and pleasant, but honestly the beard trim was that bad.
